Ristorante Carola in Greenwich

Visited our favourite restaurant to celebrate my husbands 65th birthday.As we were a bigger group with young children we opted to sit in the room off the main restaurant. I was able to decorate the room prior to the evening. We all enjoyed great food and friendly helpful service . The food was served hot and well presented . We were given time in between courses and were asked when we wanted the main course served. We went on to enjoy desserts and birthday cake. It was a fantastic evening and everyone enjoyed it , for the majority of the guests it was their first visit and they all want to return. Can highly this restaurant for family gatherings . Thank you to all the staff at Carola and we will see you soon

Beautiful food and fantastic service. We took our two nieces for dinner and the staff could not have been more attentive, they really looked after us and went out of the way to make the girls happy - even getting them a cocktail and shot (alcohol free of course) to make sure they felt included- thank you so much

Dined in as a family… Underwhelming food.. Main course given wrong meat??? Manageress very opinionated .. Got a takeaway also.. Given totally wrong pizzas.. Avoid .. go to an authentic Italian..

Delicious food, fabulous service and great value. Good wine list and great fish options for a pescatarian. Loved the 90s classic play list as well.

Fantastic restaurant. Ticks all the boxes. Lovey food and atmospheric whilst not being very loud. It gives the impression that it’s a place that caters for all occasions and events.

A truly wonderful place for family meals and celebrations. The staff are friendly and professional too, the drinks are great and the food is not only great value for money but incredibly tasty! If you fancy a real old-school Italian meal done right you need look no further!

My husband and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary by booking a table at this restaurant. What an amazing experience the staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble! The food was delicious everything was cooked to perfection, we both had hot starters, and main courses and it all came to the table piping hot, this is something we haven't experienced in years! Dessert was also exceptional really yummy! My husband finished with a latte coffee, which he really enjoyed. A finishing touch was a glass of limoncello , a wonderful change from a chocolate! We will definitely be returning very soon!

My wife and I went to the restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have been past many times but had never been in. What a mistake that was! From the greeting at the door to the farewell at the end of the evening we could not have asked for a better time. Our waiter was friendly and very funny, polite and treated us as valued customers. The food was exceptional with a very wide choice. We both had the fungi with Italian blue cheese to start that was so good and HOT. My wife had Salmon and I had the rack of lamb for main with saute potatoes and vegetables. Once again beautifully cooked and presented and HOT. We were very impressed with the food being hot as this is very unusual as in most restaurants the food is generally luke warm when it gets to the table. The desserts were also brilliant. I had the banofee pie and my wife had the biscuit cake with ice cream. When the bill came we were offered a glass of limoncello which was a really nice touch. Overall a great evening, not cheap but very good value. We will definitely be going again very soon.

In need of cheering up during the current situation we went for lunch on Tuesday afternoon. We received the usual warm friendly welcome from staff and went on to enjoy a delicious lunch of garlic bread,pizza and pasta . After a couple of glasses of wine ,liquers and coffee we were good to face the world again. Hopefully Carola will be able to continue trading for now and we may be able to visit again soon.Recommend a visit . Wishing all the staff well and good luck for the coming weeks.

Booked the back room for 20 of us on a Saturday night and what a night it was. From arrival drinks to the starters, main course and dessert - none of our party were disappointed. The best minestrone soup I’ve ever tasted. Food is 5 star, as is all the staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

Fantastic Food & Lively Service. The service first off is fantastic. Some of the best waiting staff around. The choice of seafood is fantastic, and the selection of pasta covers all bases. The wine list is very reasonably priced.

Six of us enjoyed a great night out and were very pleased with the service, choice of menu and the staff. I was delighted with my starter of dolcelatte stuffed mushrooms and a main of prawn and clam stuffed ravioli. Others chose tuna pizza, salmon, veal with spaghetti or linguine with fillet steak strips, no one was disappointed with the quality or quantities. Three bottles of the house red were enjoyed during the meal.This was our third visit to Carola's and it will not be the last.

Returned to one of our favourite restaurants last night for a pre-christmas meal with my brother. The restaurant is decorated for Christmas as are the staff !! The welcome was festive and friendly, the restaurant was buzzing and the food as always was top notch. Despite being busy the service was on point.We asked for a short break between courses and this was adhered to so we could enjoy each course without being rushed.We all enjoyed our food, the specials of calves kidney/chicken liver starter and penne stilton were excellent.With crackers and christmas decorations on the tables, great food and service we enjoyed an excellent evening .as we say to the staff " everything is yummy.yummy". Try this restaurant and it will soon become one of your favourites.Booking recommended.

Went here years ago and can’t believe we have left it so long! The food is good and the Cocktails are excellent and very responsible. We went on a very busy night so service was slow but not a problem. We will be back soon.

Otro almuerzo con viejos amigos de Goldsmiths en la década de 1960. Nos hemos reunido para almorzar durante aproximadamente 5 años y todos los que vinieron al Ristorante Carola la semana pasada acordaron que este era el mejor restaurante Itialian en el sureste de Londres por su sabor, variedad, ambiente, personal amable y eficiente y relación calidad-precio. Y los vinos también eran bastante buenos. Volveremos y recomendaría encarecidamente este restaurante al que le gusta la comida italiana.

Mi primera visita a Carola fue muy agradable. El personal fue muy amable y te hizo sentir como en casa. No me puedo quejar de la comida aquí, estaba cocinada a la perfección. La sopa de verduras minestrone estaba llena de sabor y muy sabrosa, los pasteles de pescado con salsa tártara eran un excelente entrante. el costillar de cordero estaba cocinado a la perfección al igual que el linguini con tiras de carne Angus. Los postres eran excelentes, tiramisú era absolutamente delicioso.

Used to visit when they were at Elephant & Castle. Only just found out where they moved to. Went with friends on Saturday and as always the food did not disappoint. Staff very helpful and friendly. Have tried various tiramisus, but nothing even comes close to their one. Will definitely be going back for seconds, thirds etc.

What can you say an excellent menu cooked by exceptional chefs in a timely manner and served up by excellent front of house staff with good sense of humour. A great meal and experience all at a competitive price.

Delicious food and wonderful service, has the feeling of a family run business. Rack of lamb was superb, starter of ribs was a generous portion and delicious! Care is taken to ensure the best experience (even aerated the red wine!)

Took my friend for a birthday treat on Saturday. The staff found a table as it was a busy evening. The food was amazing, it never fails to please. We both chose fish dishes. Mine was monkfish and it was cooked to perfection and I thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. My friend has salmon and she enjoyed it. We ventured onto dessert as it would be rude not to, Banoffee pie and Tiramisu scrumptious always. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone as it has food for everyone palate. A very good menu and please visit you will not be disappointed. Booking is suggested as it gets busy.

Nuestros huéspedes no podían creer lo atento que era el personal. Los camareros estaban constantemente dando vueltas tomando pedidos de bebidas de la gente, y luego llevando bandejas de bebidas a través de la multitud asegurándose de que la gente obtuviera lo correcto. I went for dinner with my girlfirend on a friday night. WE had duch a lovely time, the staff polite and he outstanding food and low prices made our evening fantastic. At the end we met Rui, the chef/owner who's is a lovely man and sat with us at the table and shared his love and passion for his restaurant. Definitely a place to go back to.

What an amazing restaurant! I visited Carola with a group of 12 friends. We were greeted by the owner who had arranged the table so we could all chat to each other. Service is excellent, the staff are all friendly and attentive. The food was just fabulous, piping hot and full of flavour. Can't wait to go back! Thanks to Paula and her staff for a brilliant evening.

The food here is very good. Theres a good choice of dishes to suit most tastes and vegetarians are covered. The wine is decent and the service is on the button and all at a good price.

A great place to enjoy a meal for any occasion! The portions are very generous, so don't eat much beforehand! We had starters and mains, but couldn't fit in a dessert sadly! Very attentive staff and even better food! Will definitely return, again and again!

This restaurant is the best, I have been coming to carola for years, our whole family have grown up with them, The menu is amazing we have probably eaten everything on it, Paula, Her husband chef Rue and their children are great, The staff are lovely and always accommodating, It is a proper family run business they always welcome you with open arms, A little bit of Italy in lee green would highly recommend to anybody.

This is our local Italian restaurant and how lucky are we. Had dinner here last night and once again it was a first class meal. We enjoyed choices from both the daily specials board and the main menu. All the dishes were well presented and very tasty. I am very partial to pizza and they do a very good ones. You can have medium or thin crust and they are excellent. Paula and her friendly ,helpful team do a great job in making everyone feel welcome and ensuring they have a good time. The restaurant is popular with locals and visitors alike. It does get very busy so booking is recommended at peak times. Great food and friendly service make this restaurant one of our favourites

I was very pleasantly surprised when I went inside Ristorante Carola. I’d passed it so many times and never paid much attention. It’s nicely decorated and modern inside although the outside is a bit dated looking and doesn’t match. The service was excellent, really friendly and welcoming. My boyfriend had some tasty prawns to start with. My chicken pesto gnocchi tasted good, the pasta was perfect but I wasn’t so sure on the quality of chicken. The base of the pizza my boyfriend had wasn’t good, it definitely seemed like it had been frozen but we were told that the pizza bases are made in the morning and kept in the fridge. If that’s the case then it just didn’t seem fresh – a bit soggy in the middle and hard on the crust. Prices were reasonable. Overall, with some improvements to the food I think this has potential to be a great restaurant but unfortunately I was disappointed by the food on this occasion.

Very warm place, the food is delicious and beautifully decorated. Prices are so low for this quality. Great Sangria! I highly recommend the Carbonara pasta! Also, service is amazing, Otilia was so nice and made us feel like we're home. Definitely coming back to this place!

First time in this restaurant reviews are great so thought I would try it had a pasta which was not great found the whole experience very overrated been to many Italian restaurants all over and had far better food elsewhere won’t be returning the waiter we had hardly cracked a smile.

Found by chance on visit to chiropractor. Don't be put off by its position. Excellent food. Specials well worth try and they change regularly. Staff pleasant and efficient. Food at lunchtime is 10% off. Booking is advisable.

Excellent for lunch for all the reasons stated before. We had leisurely lunch and noticed that a couple of workmen came in, were served quickly and left quickly. So the service changes to meet your needs. There were plenty of gluten-free options.

Carola’s was absolutely packed and rightly so. They have created a warm and friendly environment with friendly staff and great food. Their pizzas have to be the best I have tasted in the area. Look forward to my next visit already.

Booked Carola on recommendation and found that I had visited owners former restaurants some time ago. Been looking for an authentic Italian near to where we live and we now have a new favourite which we have already booked for my wife's birthday. Pasta dishes were excellent, starters amazing and the service was just perfect.cannot wait for next visit.

Although very busy staff welcoming. We had starters and main courses, all hot and freshly cooked to order. We were not made to hurry in any way. Bright, clean and friendly. After puddings we were given some limoncello. All in all worth a visit.

Excellent Italian out of the way in south east London. Lovely decor (lights could be lower but that is Europe), EXCELLENT service by a very trained staff. Started with a layered eggplant dish that was very very good and I am just so-so on eggplant. Then the calamari which was also quite good. Homemade tartar was quite unique and delicious. Herein would lie my only minor complaint. Squid is plentiful over here and the portion was quite small and quite dear. Followed with carbonara, this portion was large and flavorful. The house made hot pepper olive oil (added at will) was a beautiful touch, in moderation. It is out of the wat but really only a 20 minute train ride from Charing Cross or Canon Street. You have driven further and longer for very good Italian and this is very good Italian.

A return visit to this restaurant after watching the fireworks in Blackheath. Once again very good food,wine and service.It was very busy and there was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The lady owner found time to have a chat with us and bought out hot chestnuts and a traditional drink at the end of the evening which was a lovely touch. All our food was well presented ,hot and delicious.Our waiter advised us regarding drinks etc and remembered we had requested a short wait between starters and mains, I didnt get his name but he was a portugese gentleman and very professional The four of us had a great evening and were some of the last to leave. A very good local restaurant, great service,food and wine in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

A friend booked this restaurant to celebrate my Birthday last night and we had a great time. The food was lovely. The wine was delicious and it was all very reasonably priced. The staff made sure we had a really special time, especially the lady. Sorry I didn't get her name. My family and I are regular diners at Carola since we live around 5 minutes' walk away. While this certainly won't be the best Italian meal you've ever had, and while the location itself is far from being anything to write home about, dining here is a good experience made great by how affordable it is. You won't be amazed by the location, or the decorating, but the service is welcoming and friendly, with the regulars who are often dining there really adding to the feeling that this is a nice, neighbourhood restaurant. However, the star here is the food: I've only ever had pizza or calzone, but they are always made with great dough and cooked to perfection in a wood fire oven (you can actually ask to have medium or thin crust), with the ingredients used also being of great quality. There is also good variety in the menu, which includes steak and chips for those who aren't fans of Italian cuisine. In all of the times I have been, I have never been disappointed with my order, which also says a lot about how consistently great the food is - especially impressive considering that almost no item of food is priced at over £10-12. Compare that to most takeaway places, that are nowhere near as good and that will set you back around the same amount, and you start to get an idea of how good-value the place is.Overall, this is a great, family-friendly, neighbourhood pizzeria, with friendly service and and nice, laid-back atmosphere. If you're looking to have great Italian food without breaking the bank, look no further!

We were looking for a local restaurant in lee as my stepdaughter had just moved there. This was within easy walking distance and looked good on the reviews and their menu looked good on the website.Upon arrival we had a very warm greeting from the staff. We had a choice of a few tables for our party of 4. Drinks were ordered and then the choice of good food took us ages to decide. The food was freshly cooked to order, very well presented and above all, scrumptious. There wasn't a morsel left on any plate. Dessert was very good as well.Staff were attentive throughout and very friendly. Will definitely be going back on a future visit. The ambience was very good with a mixture of couples and small groups. The toilets were spotless although you couldn't swing a cat in there. All in all, a very good place to have a relaxed meal with friends or family.

I was there last Saturday with a group of friends,the restaurant was full.. was a really nice atmosphere and the food was amazing..We had some starter to share and i had the special seabass ravioli that was huge portion.. and were absolutely brilliant.. the staff was really welcome and for sure i wuold go back there again..!Thanks Carola..!

The menu never changes but it doesn't matter! Friendly staff, great food, excellent value. I've brought all my friends and family here as I know it will never disappoint. One day I hope they sort out the lighting which is bright enough to perform an operation under but I can forgive that for the amazing food and service.

The service is good very attentive and friendly. The food is both excellent in flavour and portion size. The cheese board has to be mentioned in its siize and presentation. Restaurant often busy but always has a sensible level of staffing to maintain good service. Best Italian in area and worth the cost of an UBER home. The picture of the empty plate says it all.

Jeune français adorant la cuisine italienne et l'Angleterre, je me suis régalé lorsque je dégustais chaque plat de ce restaurant. Désormais je peux confirmer que les anglais sont très accueillant et adorent quand des touristes viennent dans leurs restaurants. Je vous conseille la pizza quatre fromage et le cheesecake sur deux étages qui sont un régal.

I had the grilled sardines followed by the gamberoni provencale which were both delicious and my niece commented that her spare ribs which we didn't expect to find on the menu were some of the nicest she has tasted. We've been here for big family party (the room out the back is perfect), lunch for two and dinner for four and had had a great experience every time.

What can you say brilliant food served by a brilliant hostess. Nothing is to much trouble and one of the friendliest restaurants I go to. Keep it up. Great Italian food at sensible prices.

Had a great experience with this restaurant this evening.Good service, very tasty food, we had veal chop and smoked salmon salad... delicious! Great presentation!Good selection of wines and Sangria! So nice! Loved it! Dessert was Coppa Pistachio... try it! They have outside space for after diner drink. A must try restaurant if you are in the area.

Went for my leaving do with seven colleagues.On arrival we were told the "table is over there". Different waiters served us during the meal which confused them. The manageress did not ask if 'everything was alright' and stood and watched her staff most of the night. To the positives, Most of the meals were nice and the price was reasonable.

Good Italian food with an authentic touch. Friendly genuine service at wallet friendly prices. Nice atmosphere without being overcrowded.

Live close by but never visited, so thought we'd try our luck getting a table this evening. An extremely warm welcome and we were offered a table in the conservatory/garden which was a calm and atmospheric area of the restaurant. Service was warm and considered, with humour and familiarity that is welcome but sometimes hard to find in busier parts of London. The food was hot, served with consideration and care and the staff were attentive, hard working but not obsequious. The atmosphere was relaxed and convivial and when the bill arrived we were more than happy to leave the optional tip by way of appreciation for their food, their welcome and their efforts. It isn't often you leave a restaurant feeling as if you have dined with friends, but this evening has achieved that and also thankful that we made a decision to eat there this evening. A free shot of Limoncello rounded off the evening, as did a joke with the waiter who had a humour that was observant, on point but not supercilious. We will most certainly return and advise that if you are looking for a fuss free, friendly Italian restaurant, then you head for this place :)
