Best sushi in London. We have been regular customers and we never appreciated how good it is until we went to Japan. It is better sushi than most of the sushi restaurants we have been to in Japan. Highly recommend. Also @Head chef, please don’t retire. We love your sushi.

Best sushi ever! We have been regular customers for 10+ years!

I looked this place up on Trip Advisor, drove over 5 miles to get there, and arrived at 20.15. It is a tiny little place, with probably enough room for 12 seated. On arrival I was told that I would not be able to eat there, only take away. There were only four other diners. I had endured a long day at work and wanted to sit down with a beer and have a couple of sushi rolls. I explained that the website indicated that the place was open until 21.30, but was told again emphatically (and rather abrasively) that they were taking no more sit downs that evening. I was offered no explanation for this. No apology or sympathy was forthcoming. The guy behind the counter simply didn't care. I have no idea what the food is like as I went elsewhere, never to return. Save your money and spend it where the staff have a little more personality and appreciation for your custom. Appalling!

Came here for my birthday. The sushi was very good! There were two appetisers (kabocha and aubergine) and a small dessert (chocolate mochi ice cream.

Top quality sushi and sashimi. High end London sushi bar standard. Highly recommend. Ignore the few bad reviews about service, the owners have been great to us for years. Been coming back year on year for over 10 years. Eating in is also a great experience.

Came early evening for a meal, food and service was outstanding ! We got a selection of nigiri and rolls, that were all incredibly well priced for sushi. The salmon nigiri especially was perfect, easily the best we have ever had. The staff were very attentive and even provided complimentary appetisers and desserts! Definitely recommend for both takeaway and eat in, although do note the inside is very small so not many tables available for eat in, but it does make the atmosphere even nicer as you can see the chefs preparing your food in front of you. Will definitely be returning, can’t recommend enough !

I cannot recommend Rising Sun enough. It's a haven for sushi lovers who appreciate excellent taste, professional service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Having been introduced to The Rising Sun by a friend, I am constantly blown away by the quality of the food. I always enjoy everything, but I have to say the sashimi is the freshest and best tasting I've ever had. The staff are also brilliant. By far my favourite Japonese restaurant in London.

Wow the behaviour of the man in the reception/cashier, absolutely appaling. Why the need to be so rude and shout,especially when you see you're scaring the kids by raising your voice and tone unnecessarily? Disgusting service. Never coming back here, it's not worth it.

Had enough of the terrible service and attitude. Never again! Been getting sushi from them for years and been tolerating the awful service, terrible attitude and just lack of any elements of customer service. Today was no different. Never again. The management seriously needs to train its staff and the lady on the phone.

This restaurant has quite simply the best Japanese food. Compares with top London Sushi bars. Staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. Have been a regular for many years since the opening.

Best in southeast London. Only decent place in a 5 mile radius where I can get some decent variety of sushi. For anyone who wants not just salmon, salmon and salmon (pairing with a gallon of soy sauce), this is the perfect place to rediscover the breadth of Japanese culinary.

Family run Sushi restaurant which is the best, freshest sushi you will ever try. It is very popular so you have to get your orders early. I've been coming here for many years and the food is always 5 Star. Great quality and lovely people.

We order regularly from Rising Sun and it is amazing every time. Great quality, never disappoints. The staff are polite, and the service usually very fast, we rarely have to wait. Doesn’t look like much from the outside but what a gem!

It is impossible to order over the phone, the line is either busy or rings with no answer. I will change my review/ratings once a more effective way to order the sushi is available

We have been ordering sushi almost weekly since finding this place around a year ago. The sushi is absolutely gorgeous and the fish is brilliant quality. On a par with some of the top sushi restaurants in London, if not better!

Best takeaway ever. Sushi is wonderful and the quality of sashimi is great and extremely clean. I have had it many times and never disappointed. I hope the owner and his team will stay healthy and continue to serve this wonderful food for us.

We regularly get a take away from Rising Sun. the quality is exceptional and everything is super fresh. I would highly recommend this. It’s not cheap but we’ve had many meals from here and it’s always great. Occasionally we eat in around the tiny bar. It’s interesting to watch the sushi chefs working but I can’t say that they are particularly hospitable. The serving staff are great but the chefs I feel don’t like to be watched. In fairness they are always so busy it’s probably quite annoying to be viewed. Having lived in Japan this is the best sushi we have had outside of Asia

Best sushi this side of Japan. We ordered a sushi banquet to takeaway and it was delicious. Polite, friendly service. We live half an hour drive away but happy to travel that far just to get my sushi fix, no where else compares. 🍣💖🍥

Delicious sushi which is as good as many Central London restaurants. We regularly order takeaway from here. Always look forward to it and never disappoints. Phone service is always polite. Just be prepared you may have a bit of a wait if on a weekend evening but this is understandable as it looks like it’s just one sushi chef there. My one question is: would the chef consider wearing a mask? I would feel a lot more reassured if he did as these are uncertain times.

Fabulous sushi as always friendly service. Have got a couple of take-always from here recently (and can’t wait to eat in post-lockdown) and consistently great - could not recommend the spider rolls (blue crab), spicy salmon roll and “sushi-a” selection enough. A true gem.

Have lived in Petts Wood for 10 years and never tried it. Had takeaway on Saturday after hearing good things. I’m a Sushi fan but didn’t think a local place would be much cop. My mistake, awesome sushi. Fresh with great portion size. Can happily compete with central London restaurants.

We often get our takeaway suishi from here. Consistent performer it’s alway decent Salmon sashimi quality as good as anything locally and some of the rolls are extremely good Worth trying the soft shell crab.

First visit to this tiny but superb sushi bar. Only 8 seats at the counter but very popular as a takeaway and the team are lovely. We ate in and watched our hand rolled freshly made to order sushi and precision cut sashimi being prepared by an expert Japanese chef whilst we enjoyed hot sake and edamame. The food was simply delicious. So fresh and such delicious flavours. Complimentary seaweed and squid as a chefs treat was so flavourful we knew we were in for a treat and each taste of assorted sashimi, crunchy tuna roll, spider roll and other assorted sushi rolls including crispy soft shelled crab were simply the best sushi we have ever eaten.

Commuting home a little later than usual and fancied something different, I’ve had Sushi a few times uptown but found The Rising sun a lot more reasonable on price and beautifully made. You can taste freshness of the ingredients in every dish and it’s clear the head chef takes a lot of pride in everything he does but the prawn tampura for me is an absolute must!!

I'm very local to the Rising Sun, I'd even say walking distance. I've had countless takeaways and eaten in several times. This place has never disappointed me. Terrific sushi!!!! 5* I'd say. I would even go as far as saying Nobu etc. wouldn't even come close and also, the price is very reasonable. I wished the venue was bigger but can't complain about that

Probably the best sushi I’ve had outside of Japan. A simple menu of drinks (sake and one beer - Asahi) and sushi executed well, will definitely return.

Going down hill. Used for 8-10 years - food is good. Lost the plot with customer service ? Waiting time. 1hour to 2 hours? Hello It’s a sushi takeaway after all...... Maybe they think the poorer the service the more people will come? Good luck guys - a lost customer.....with an average takeaway spend of £70.00 per visit.

Food is good - always has been.Service now pushes the limits of acceptable.Last 3 visits over an hour for a takeaway order to be prepared? now being told 1 hour -45 for a takeaway.?? What.....Customer service is key.....have used for at least 8 years ? Long time customer, ? No more.Sorry they need to get more staff on board.

Only the 2nd time I have have food from here and I’m actually asking why I didn’t go back sooner. Very enjoyable sushi, good over the phone service, I just wish they delivered.

The sushi here is as good as I’ve had in Tokyo as a guest of a Japanese local. Quirky little venue, only about 8 seats. Only criticism is one of the staff - he must be the “sales prevention officer “!! I’ve tried to arrange special dinners for 5/6 people a couple of times and he said it wasn’t possible.... really weird, unhelpful and negative. If the food wasn’t so awesome I wouldn’t go back. But it is, and I will. Tuna sashimi is incredible, buttery, melt in the mouth, finest quality. Go - experience it.

Best sushi I've had outside Japan. Better than the fancy places in London and New York I've been to. This is "jiro dreams of sushi"... In petts wood?!?!?! Small place. Nice ambience. Portions decent size, and pricing very reasonable for the exceptional quality and quantity. Head chef is a pleasure to watch him work.

Opening time say they are open but are not. Check before you go and don't travel far without back up plan. Suggested Google change the advertised opening times.

Hands down the best, freshest sushi anywhere nearby, and even better than most London establishments. We have been going here for years and have never had a bad experience. Chef is amazingly talented and knows all his regulars by name. A must try for anyone who loves sushi

This is the best Japanese sushi restaurant in the U.K. So far. It reminds me of high quality sushi in Japan. I'm giving 4 stars just because they have small nigiri selection. I like seared tuna and salmon.

Authentic Japanese. Excellent in every way. Small so will have to be better suited to booking in advance and couples. Good service. Not cheap but worth every penny!

There aren't many sushi restaurants in the area (if any at all) so when we found this place we didn't really know what to expect, but we were VERY pleasantly surprised. There are literally a handful of counter-top seats in the room itself and personally I've not eaten in, but the staff seem very friendly and you can see all the sushi being made up in front of you so I cant imagine it can go far wrong. Be aware though, that it's not a buzzing/bustling restaurant, but a nicely (modern in style) small venue, probably not suited to groups, unless there are 10 of you in which case you can probably take the entire venue . Alas it's in the takeaway department where they excel, with a plentiful menu and freshly prepared grub you can't go wrong. The maki rolls are as good as you're going to get anywhere, and I'd say the menu is of a West End standard. The soft shelled crab and sashimi platter are great, and the crispy salmon and tuna rolls with spicy mayo are A+ too, like I said, can't go wrong. We had them cater for a 30th birthday party for circa 35 people and everyone said how fantastic the food was. It's not the cheapest take-away out there, but then I'd probably swerve a cheap and cheerful sushi restaurant, wouldn't you? If they delivered, they'd make off like bandits, sadly however we have to drive the 8 miles to get pick up, which is still worth it...

The sushi here is incredible every time we go. We always take away, but you can eat in the small restaurant. It's fairly expensive for a takeaway but a real treat and well worth the money.

Easily one of the best (If not the best) sushi bars in Kent, and the Greater London area. All fish purchased that day and made in the authentic sushi style of Japan.
