Richfields Cafe in Reading

A real hidden gem that I’ve now been to a few times and I’ve never been disappointed with the service or quality of the food. The menu has just been updated (still loads to choose from) and I had a fab Eggs Bennie this morning whilst doing a bit of work. Looking forward to popping back soon with my teenage son who loves it when we came before Christmas Well worth a short walk across the bridge from Caversham

Decided to try this restaurant as have lived in Caversham for over 12 years and never been and recently heard they were having some difficulties as the council closed the pavement outside their restaurant (it is now all open). WOW! I have truly been missing out - it was by far the best breakfast I have ever had. Huge cup of coffee, incredible poached eggs, American crispy bacon, homemade hash browns, thick sourdough toast. What a treat! Huge portions. There were so many delicious options on the menu, including incredible looking pancakes, smoothies etc - I will be back to try something different next time. Forgot to mention, super friendly and helpful staff. This place is definitely worth a visit!

Having to escape from home due to builders at neighbours' house, we opted for breakfast somewhere quiet. Having a quick Google search gave me here as an option. But due to thinking it was only a sandwich shop, I'd discounted it in the past. But I can say hand on my heart, it was lovely and possibly the best berry pancakes ever!!! My husband had the Richfield fry up, which was quite simply a taste explosion with a recovery smoothie which was really tasty, and I don't like ginger but I felt that the ginger didn't overpower it at all. Coffees as well were nice and not bitter. Both members of staff are super friendly and took the time to chat with us.

Superb, consistently excellent quality, good customer service. Richfields is located about a 15 minute walk from Reading Town centre bit definitely worth the visit..I had Chirozo Hash and my wife Chirizo toasties.. Chorizo Hash excellent, rich and wholesome, decent portion, and fills you up quick..9.5 out 10..had this twice pn two seperate occasions never dissaponts, hollandaise sauce perfect, eggs rich and cooked just right, nice flavoursome Chorizo sausage, wel cooled potatie...thus will keep me going all day no need fir din dins..good price £13.85 great value for money..My wife had Chizo toasties, giant size, nice and rich 8 out 10, a little more veggievpls and you will nail it..We both had canpochino coffees, nice flavour and very decent coffee...Richfields I highly rate..and btw I dont work there before any asks!

DELICIOUS Deliveroo order. I had the chorizo hash and a hash brown. Hands down the best order I’ve had via Deliveroo. A hidden gem. Food is fresh, hot, plentiful portions, tastes and presented like it’s made with love. Well worth the price - it’s great value for money; when you see and receive and taste the food you get it. Will be ordering again and visiting soon.

This was a meal that made me happy. Well made, good service and top quality breakfast. Just really good. Everything done to a high standard. Even made pancakes taste good(I don’t like pancakes) Love it! Top place! Nice staff! Pride in their work is evident!

Came this morning with a friend for a bit of co-working with a coffee. Kayleigh and Tara were amazing, so nice and helpful. The food was splendid. I had the Mushroom Toastie, and that’s one of the best vegan dishes I’ve seen in a long time, so well done for that! Will definitely come again!

We recently stayed close by and ate several meals in this deli. The food is excellent, and the staff very friendly, and helpful. We had to wait quite a long time for the food to arrive, but the quality more than made up for this.

Went for a walk along the river and ended up in caversham road. Stumbled across Richfield Deli & Grill and was greeted by a lovely smiling young waitress with red streaks in her hair. Enjoyed a lovely coffee and enjoyed being served by this lovely friendly and helpful waitress who made my meal feel very special for me. Will definitely be visiting again. -Gary

Went this afternoon with a friend, no tables, told to come back when it’s “quieter” (I don’t know how we’re supposed to know when that is), came back in 20 minutes, tables only available outside (although it’s obvious a couple of tables inside have just sat down so need to have some sort queue list in place), but then told oh it’s 45 minutes for food. Why would you not say that in the first place instead of making us wait around?! Felt like we were unwanted and inconveniencing them.

Go here if you are happy to wait 20 minutes to order a drink. Been a loyal customer for 7 plus years going with friends and family. Used to be excellent, although a bit slow. It now takes far too long to order drinks and food, although is normally tasty when it eventually arrives. Front of house staff are very inexperienced and not up to the job. Such a shame! Used to be a friendly place to go but service has been getting worse for a while now

Lovely food, great service and nice place to sit in. The fiery salmon eggs bennie was brilliant, as were the cinnamon pancakes. Seems mad that people were queuing to get into places on Caversham high street when this little gem had tables free - ever thought about another branch, or a move?

Nice place in general. Would I return NO Why? simply well over priced. I can buy a cheese and tomato sandwich cheaper in Mayfair. I know your reply will be go to Mayfair. Now the detail: One slice of bread £2.00 x 2 now we are up-to £4.00 Not toasted, simple slices. Add 60p for cheese Add £1.00 for one small vine tomato And there you have £5.60 for a simple cheese and tomato sandwich. I will let the mathematicians work out the margins. One loaf of bread (15 slices) say Waitrose £1.00 I am in business myself and profit is not a dirty word, please the element of fairness must always be a consideration particularly if you want or need returning customers. Absolutely loved this little gem. Just had a sandwich but it was banging. All good cooked fresh while you wait. The breakfast s coming out looked lovely. Good quality produce used brings good results. Well done, will be back.

We arrived quite late in the afternoon but all chose brunch. It was all spot on, especially the firey eggs Bennie with the wonderful crumbed poached eggs. Will definitely be back since menu is interesting and varied.

I hate shopping so dropped in for a bite to eat and a coffee before walking to Reading. Small breakfast was just perfect, well cooked and very tasty. Coffee is still the best in Reading and Caversham. Recommended every time.

The staff were literally having a conversation describing all the 'weirdest' customers they had each encountered, while ignoring me. My food also had pieces of egg shell in the scrambled eggs. It was an extremely poor experience.

It was one wet morning when we found this corner opened early for breakfast. Two things immediately warmed our soul! The great service and comfort breakfast. Good variety of cakes too.

Took my sister and her partner while they were over from Australia for a brunch to celebrate my birthday, service was great, food delicious, portions generous, prices affordable and they said was the best meal they had in the 2 weeks they were here! Will definitely be back again!

Not sure if I'm missing something here, but went on the strength of reviews and found myself a bit underwhelmed. A lovely friendly girl took my order, and asked if I wanted my sandwich on 'white or brown'. I asked if the brown was the multigrain baguette referred to on the menu but apparently not - just 'brown'. She recommended I have the wrap instead, so I did. I dusted the dead wasp off the seat and noticed a bit of food stuck on a menu. There was a persistent fly at my table as well. That's OK really - the door was open, and flies will come in, but the three things together didn't give a good feel! People were smoking on the benches just outside the front door, which was open as it was a nice day. But I'd suggest in this day and age a 'no smoking' notice for the tables outside would be good, as smoke will blow into the tables near the door and people smoking outside just gives the place a run-down feel. Coffee and wrap came in reasonable time. The wrap was just about OK. Maybe a little more seasoning needed. The salad was sad. A bit of chopped cucumber and tomato (and grated red cabbage from memory) on a cos lettuce leaf. No dressing. Garnished with coriander. (Best to be aware that about 1/10 of the population detest this - safer to use something else!) Had lunch to the accompaniment of a loud conversation going on between the staff and a couple of men in there, eg 'It was just sh**'' and, later 'I just wanted a pee!' I'm not Mary Whitehouse, but it just wasn't conducive to a pleasant lunch in a café...so I won't walk out of my way to go there again and will stick to nicer places in the centre of Caversham. Report - 'could do better'.

Unbelievably good - the smashed avo with poached egg and American style bacon was amazing. Nice helpful people working there too!

Foe a breakfast / bunch option placed amongst the small hotel of caversham bridge - this indoor place is quite the sell eggs & vegetarian sub-menus along with capacity seals the deal

Visited as an alternative to the busy town centre and we were pleasantly surprised by the great brunch options and well priced food! Good selection of fresh cakes and pastries as well as coffee and smoothies too. Will be coming back for sure!

Hoy fui al restaurante con mi hermana después de las buenas críticas, desafortunadamente fue la peor decisión que he tomado. Nos sentamos en una mesa, no había nadie allí, solo un chico sentado solo, con una niña sentada lejos y comiendo, esperamos 10 minutos en una mesa sin que nadie nos preguntara qué pedir o incluso que nos dijera si necesitamos ir. al mostrador para hacer un pedido! De repente, uno de los miembros del personal salió rápidamente de la cocina y le entregó un plato al tipo que estaba en la mesa de al lado, mi hermana dijo "perdón", pero él la ignoró y volvió a la cocina, luego la chica que estaba comiendo la dejó. Plato y tomó una pequeña toalla con el detergente para limpiar! ¿Somos invisibles? ! ¿Estamos en el show de cámara oculta o algo así? ! Como nos ignoraron, salimos del restaurante sin intención de volver a él. Por cierto, solo las mujeres pueden decir cuando el mismo aceite se usó mucho para cocinar debido al olor, lo que nos hizo decir que nuestra buena suerte nos salvó del aceite quemado.

We were visiting Cavershsm on a cold and windy day and were struggling to find somewhere for a hot drink. So glad we found this place. Friendly staff led by Hannah. Now we will have to come back to try the Street Food

Paré aquí mientras caminaba por el camino del Támesis. Silencio cuando llegamos pero rápidamente se puso ocupado. Hecho muy bienvenido por un personal joven y amable, lleno de energía. El menú ofrecía una buena variedad de comida, hacer una elección fue muy difícil, pero cuando llegó fue excelente. Muy sabroso y gracias por las recomendaciones. Sin duda, haremos un esfuerzo por regresar y recomendaré este lugar como un lugar para comer para cualquiera que camine por el Camino del Támesis.

¡Desde deliciosos desayunos hasta deliciosos fiambres, Richfields tiene todo lo que pueda desear en una comida familiar! Con el servicio más sorprendente y la satisfacción del cliente, es un lugar encantador para estar. Ahora no puedo ir a ningún otro lugar para desayunar o almorzar después de encontrar esto, ya que solo termino decepcionado. También es un lugar para traer trabajo o sentarse y leer debido a su ambiente agradable y tranquilo.

Popped in here a few months ago to get some lunch. I had the huevos rancheros and my friend had the silver dollar pancakes. It was amazing. Highly recommend this place. The staff are always friendly and welcoming

Went in for lunch for the last two weeks. My mate and I have comfortably tried every option on the burrito menu and I’d say this is hands down the best place for lunch in Caversham. The foods good and staff are friendly. The only downside is parking on the Caversham road but who really cares about that. After all, there’s nowhere as good as this.

I have been to this cafe a few times and they just launched a new menu . wow! So impressed. I'm gf as well as vegy and they really had a great selection. Will come again with the husband. Thank you!

We go here regularly for breakfast and the food is always outstanding - perfectly cooked, with so much thought put into the flavours. The quality of the food (and size of the portions!) is far superior to places like the Alto Lounge or the Griffin. The chef brings the food out, a sign they take pride in what comes out of the kitchen. We always get served quickly and the staff are friendly. The only negative is that inside towards the kitchen it can be hot and stuffy, so recommend sitting out the front or by the door.

Can't knock the cafe, and how its expanded beautifully..BUT don't take phone orders for collection in 15 minutes - then go to collect in 20 minutes - to be told off like a child for not waiting in the queue (of about 8 people as this is a very popular place) . Just refuse telephone orders for collection - i can accept that.

This is a nice little cafe with an interesting menu of dishes. My friend and I had the Falafel Flat. It wasn't quite how it was described on the menu, but was still really nice. It could have been presented a bit more imaginatively but it tasted good especially with some mayo or the yoghurt dressing they offered us. They have a good selection of cakes which we both managed to resist. They have outside seating but it's close to a busy junction so not ideal to sit outside. However, it's just by Caversham Bridge over the River Thames so ideally located for a stop off if you're walking along the river towpath. Overall definitely worth a visit if you want something a bit different as it's much more than your average cafe.

Good access in a wheelchair ; important for me, this has to be the best in Reading. A big welcome and a Hollandaise for the Eggs Benedict to savour every mouthful.i was hungry, so it was steak and eggs, beautiful Lots of places advertise as wheelchair friendly, but this is wheelchair welcoming. Had DELICIOUS blueberry pancakes and a smoothie here. Great portion size, really nicely presented and the service was awesome. Spied on other dishes that were coming out and they looked yum too. New favourite spot!

Second visit in as many weeks, was hoping things would have changed but no. Apparently you don’t exist unless you are male or spending a lot. I only ordered a coffee but was left feeling invisible and will not return

..... with pesto, goats cheese and chilli oil. A beautiful mini-meal. Friends had scrambled eggs, full English, Huevos Rancheros - all excellent. Good ingredients, beautifully cooked.

Called in for Breakfast today. We had great, friendly service. and a superb breakfast at a good price. Best Breakfast in Reading. We will definitely be back

Went to Alto Lounge nearby but didn’t stay as was very busy and noisy..(no disrespect to Alto..Always great food and service!)..Went to Richfields for the first time ever and was very impressed. Quiet, peaceful, great service, friendly and the food was really excellent. Amazing coffee too!

The menu has loads of vegetarian choice, including some unusual things like Huevos Rancheros. The descriptions on the menu sounded great and the food when it came was even better! It looked and tasted delicious. Interesting textures, really fresh ingredients (e.g. perfect avocado), wonderful chips. The drinks were good too and very friendly service.

We came here on a cold December afternoon. The staff were welcoming and the food was great. We had a chicken and beef burger between us. I would highly recommend, it is a casual lunch/breakfast spot and will go again!

The cafe now has a drinks licence which gives you a better offering in comfortable surrounds. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. Very clean and comfortable cafe with two excellent toilets. A varied menu offering specialty breakfasts, burgers and steaks, snacks, cakes, hot and cold drinks, home made smoothies and now offering local brewed beers. A must try especially if you are out in the Thames in the area walking or biting as only 200 yards from the River.

Brilliant restaurant with wonderful food (great quality and plenty of choice) and super staff!!! I went to their first evening event and had a fantastic time!!! I would highly recommend them as a venue for a party or function!!! It's an intimate little place and the staff are incredibly attentive!!! No attention to detail is spared!!! Super for good dining and a boogie after at exceptionally good value!!!

Second visit here for us as it's only a five minute walk from our house. They have a very wide and varied menu but I think everything is cooked fresh to order so it's not fast food. It is though cooked to a very good standard. Had a £10 deal for a beer and a burrito which is great value. The beer was Rebellion Red (from Marlow) and they let me have a falafel wrap as this was in the burrito section on the menu - it was delicious. My other half had the falafel salad which was a essentially a deconstructed wrap! Both with delicious salty fried halloumi. Last time I had Eggs benedict (equally delicious) and next time I'm tempted to try a steak! Perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch.

It's my second visit here to Richfields, and I've been pretty desperate to come back!

Estamos super suerte y viven a la vuelta de la esquina de Richfields. Lo descubrimos cuando nos instalamos en el barrio - refrigerador vacío y nos llevan a sus tummys restaurante increíble. En el 20 veces he comido aquí nunca he tenido una mala comida. El café es excelente, de alta calidad, los postres y dulces en el mostrador son para morirse! El chef de pastelería es siempre con cosas nuevas y deliciosas para tentar a los clientes.

Gran restaurante - excelente para desayuno, almuerzo y desayuno por igual. La comida es estupenda, y el personal es amable y realmente sus clientes habituales. Buena relación calidad-precio y un buen menú para los aventureros y criaturas de hábito por igual.

Visitamos el domingo por la mañana en lugar de comer en nuestro hotel y nos alegramos de haberlo hecho. A la llegada y durante todo el personal era amable y hablador

Close to the Crowne Plaza Hotel this little delivery and cafe does a ranger of cakes, sandwiches, baguettes, brunches. I enjoyed the best eggs benedict I have ever eaten and a large portion roo. The rustic baguettes are huge and look really good. Well worth a visit.

I'm having my car serviced in a garage near by, had to find somewhere to have lunch. Richfields Deli has been such a pleasant surprise that I'm taking the time to write a short review. I went for the black bean burrito, healthy, delicious, full of flavour and the service... so friendly. Great effort!! Certainly a place to stop by next time I'm around.

Went for breakfast for my birthday with the family. Good selection of breakfast options which are very well present. Good fast friendly service. The breakfast wrap is a must ad well as the green smoothy. A must if the area. Open every day.

Just had a great breakfast - well done, I am very picky and it was 5* I also have baguettes from here and have been occasionally for a couple of years - always good nice to be able to recommend it as a well run business and a joy to go to - keep up the good work!

Heard about this place from my brother in law and he wouldn't stop raving about them, so I had to give it a try. We had visited them back in December before the renovation. Food is consistently delicious here.Richfields was renovated about a month ago and the place looks AMAZING. Loving the decor and service. Super cool place if you want to chill with friends or take a study break. Would definitely recommend the Korean Burrito!

Absolutely fantastic joint, with amazing staff! The menu is alternative and leaves you spoilt for choice. The food is awesome, and lives up to expectation. I'd reccomend the korean burrito, its filling and rich with flavour. The portions sizes are great. Overall this place is my new regular because of all the choice it offers. The staff are very accommodating if you want to change your order.

We were staying at the hotel across the road and decided to come here for our breakfast. Service is top notch (Suz remembered our order from one day to the next!). Food really good, great fry ups but also healthy cooked breakfast optons too. And the cappuccino was first rate. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area at a hotel to come here for breakfast instead of having a luke warm buffet! Thanks!

Conveniently located to local businesses, hotels and the River Thames for a quick snack, meal or take away. 100 yards from the Thames up from the Crown Plaza hotel plus there is free parking at the public car park at weekends. Good selection of hot, and cold and healthy drinks made on site. Reasonable priced hot and cold snacks and meals plus home made cakes. Plenty of space and easy wheel chair access and toilets. Nice ambience and friendly staff. Now open 7am to 5.30pm Mon-Sat and 8.30am to 3.30pm Sundays. A must if you are in the area.

Amazing wraps, baguettes, cakes and baked potatoes. Loads of options and you get lots of filling so good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

I dont understand how this cafe could be so good, but so cheap. Unpretentious, but delicious food. Simple eats like delicious sandwiches, baked potatoes and cooked breakfasts. The staff are very friendly, have a good chat to you while they make your fresh food.Now that we have got the basics out of the way, lets talk about the banana cake. This banana cake is literally the best cake I have eaten since moving to England. There are spices in there that make it taste like a unicorn made it. Go there, if not just to try the banana cake.

Always a smile when you walk in and great food. Wraps, Baguettes, Sandwiches to soup they have your lunch covered. Barista style coffee at a good price and a local business. Also offer services, delivery and catering for events. Highly rate

Lovely, Friendly and Helpful staff - Great catering service that provides a excellent variety of food and drink. All freshly prepared breakfasts, lunches and the best home made baked cakes that goes nicely with a good quality cup of coffee! Really delicious! Very easygoing and social able atmosphere. You can have in or take away. Highly recommend if you're in the area or if you're putting on an event!

I eat almost every Saturday. Fabulous place, great people, wonderfull food for a bargain. You can't expect any better, really.

I tend to try and visit this place When I visit Richfield Avenue, I find the foods cooked fresh and easily made to you liking! The choice of handmade cakes is small yet for myself a satisfying selection for a treat after a (semi) healthy baguette created by staff who are all very friendly.

Good for lunch baguette paninis etc. friendly staff. Not cheap but busy and well run. Food is fresh and nice.

Richfields is my go-to place for a sandwich on my lunch hour when I've neglected to bring lunch from home. The prices are reasonable (under £4 for even the "luxury" sandwiches) and if you're feeling quite hungry, they have meal deals where for £5 or £6 you get a sandwich, crisps, drink and one of their very tasty homemade cakes. It's consistently good quality of food. The only thing I would change about the place is that it's tiny, so as soon as there's any sort of queue, the café feels claustrophobic. Also, it's much more of a takeaway kind of place - there are only 3-4 stools at a bar for eating in. Staff are reasonably friendly and efficient.
