I've used this restaurant on several occasions and previously have not been disappointed! Holy moly the place seems to have changed ownership and the last time I ordered some sweet and sour chicken and noodles. There was definitely nothing sweet about the experience and the only sour thing was the state of this apparent "meal"!!! It was barely edible... The chicken was tougher than Mike Tyson back in his heyday. Forget a knife and fork, you would have needed a f*ckin chainsaw to get through this stuff! The sweet and sour sauce looked and smelled like the last pish I did after a heavy night of drinking, and the f*cking noodles reminded me of my grans hair, and she's been f*ckin deed for the last ten years! Honestly, avoid this place like the plague, it was honking! Id rather munch a tramps toddler than go back here!!

I have ordered takeaway from this place for many years. I have mostly had very good service and very good food every time. They have only been really late once and only not sent me what I thought I ordered once. I will be very sorry when this place closes at the end of today and the current owners retire.

I had been going to Ricebox on and off for many years, i will never be going back. We ordered Chicken Mushroom, Chicken Satay, Chicken with Sweet and Sour Sauce and a portion of chips. The chips were hard and burnt as they had been reheated so into the bin they went. The Chicken Satay was acceptabe but only just as the sauce was thin and watery. The Chicken Mushroom, tiny pieces of mushroom cut up and put into the dark coloured sauce, no whole Mushrooms as you get from most takeaways and the sauce should have been lighter in colour. But nothing came close to as disgusting as the Chicken Sweet and Sour. The sauce was cloudy and cold. The Chicken in batter was hard re fried a few times as the Chicken inside was burnt at the edges and unedable. As for the batter it was covered in grease so another meal straight in the bin. The whole meal in general was cold. I should have guessed as it came to us within 10 minutes on a saturday night which suggests not freshly cooked. This was very disappointing and no point in taking it back to complain as the staff are not at all friendly and hate critisism. I did once before take a meal back and complained as they had not given me what i asked for and they just shrugged their shoulders. I have said it before but truly mean it this time. Never again. The place although very clean desperately needs new chefs who know how to cook chinese food, or closed down. A wee visit from the health inspectors would not go amiss.

Beef Pineapple. Disgusting. Made me sick. The beef was literally rotten. Had to throw it away after one mouthfull. Will never go back.

I have a takeaway once or twice a week and the food is always tasty. Quick service and I usually have beef with chilli and black bean sauce with boiled rice. Lovely !

Almost an hour past the time they said they would deliver and still waiting for my order to arrive.... Terrible service.

Looks like pish. Smells like pish. It is pish. I will eat literally anything on god's green earth but I've now been rendered physically unable to eat for fear of a flashback. My life changed permanently tonight and not for the better.

I had bought various dishes with a portion of curry sauce . I have to say the curry sauce was utterly disgusting. It had a very peculiar smell and awful taste . I was thinking it may have been left over from the night before as I had an early order about 5.30 pm. I usually buy curry from other Chinese takeaways in Edinburgh and I am so glad I didn’t buy a full curry meal as I would to have gone straight back with it . I rarely write reviews but had to in this place . It looks great but the food is not !

Poor experience after finding hairs in 2 dishes. Upon finding this rather off-putting ingredient I proceeded to research the establishment's food hygiene ratings. Unfortunately, this did not look pretty. The Easter Road store does not meet the legal requirements set by the food standards agency (FSA) and states “improvement required”. Props to ALL the other 'Rice Box' named establishments over the UK with 4/5 and 5/5 stars. The Easter Road takeaway is definitely an outlier... could be down to the questionable management I experienced when trying to voice my concerns. I have provided a screenshot of the FSA website for all to see. The free fortune cookie was a bonus at least.

It was 18:10 when we ordered from Rice Box and what an experience we had !! The food arrived 25 mins after we ordered...PING goes the microwave !! This was the worst Chinese I have ever had. Where do I start... 1, Arguably my biggest grievance was with the pubic like hairs we found in both the lemon chicken and the Sticky beef. We found the grand total of 3 hairs (black and curly in nature) in the food. This was the first sign something was wrong! 2. The chicken in all dishes was rubbery - it reminded me of my childhood in nappies, sucking on my dummy. Simply vile. 3. Trying to air my complaints to manager was very successful...almost as successful as their hygiene inspection. Needs improvement is an understatement. The manager was tighter than a ducks arse and we received no refund or compensation despite the hairs in our food. The manager on duty on the 10/04/2021 All in a very successful and enjoyable evening. Bad decisions make for good stories. Lets hope there isn't another chapter to this story - lets hope the thirds wave doesn't lead to a shortage of loo roll, I am sure we will be needing it this evening. The extensive menu means that there are plenty choices and we were delighted with what we selected as it was hot and very tasty.

Spent 40quid on a takeaway and it was mostly poor. The dim sum was good but asked for extra spicy hot and sour soup and it wasn't at all spicy. Rest of the food was mediocre. Was disappointed as a friend had recommended them as a good chinese to me.

We have been using this lovely take away for years ,in fact we got two set of there bowels because we got the tokens and used it so much , the staff are lovely and the dim sum is one of our favourites they are packed with flavour , the crispy duck is awesome it has us fighting over picking the bones 😀, it's our Saturday night treat and we tried a lot of the menu and I have never been disappointed , in these difficult times we should support our local take away and restaurants .so thank you rice box for always being professional

This Chinese carryout here in Edinburgh is preferred by us, as the food is prepared, cooked and served to a high standard. There are no additions of chemicals in the prep process like MSG which most of chinese restraunts and carryout venues use. MSG is a neuro toxen it can cause migraines, over stimulation of nervous system and lead to gluteny which can leave you hungry for days perhaps. Rice box do not use MSG and they also do gluten free and egg free meals. So we take our hats off to them and we'll done team.... Thankyou

Truly surprised to see so many bad reviews, I really like ricebox, been here quite a few times. We always collect, perhaps that has improved our experience, who knows! Anyway, always good food and friendly staff :-)

After an evening out at a festival show, we needed some food and came across this place. So glad we found it, and we will come again. Very tasty food and fast service.

Extremadamente decepcionado y se fue con un malestar estomacal. Esta es la primera mala crítica que he escrito para un negocio local, sin embargo, me gustaría advertir a las personas. La peor comida que he comido en Edimburgo por más de 20 años. Debido a que la comida llegó 15 minutos tarde, todo estaba frío y considerar que mi apartamento está a unos 7 minutos a pie de la tienda y me tomó 1 hora conseguir la comida cuando la ordené a las 7: 15. Mi pato parece que tenía una pulgada (10 cm) de MSG coagulado gloop cubriéndolo, el cerdo maltratado de mi madre era tan duro que podría haber roto mis ventanas si hubiera estado tan inclinado por la frustración de lanzarlos. Los lados de los hongos tenían el potencial de ser realmente buenos, pero de nuevo la salsa se aferraba a ellos como un primer amor adolescente cuando se les dijo que la relación había terminado. El pollo de mi esposa era el único plato que el frío era incluso un poco comestible. Esto realmente es una comida para llevar que necesita ir al gran sitio cerrado en el cielo para que un chef con talento pueda tomar su lugar y producir comida china que resalte la excelente cocina que ofrece la comida del país.

We have enjoyed ordering from here for many years, and like the new website ordering update/menu that has been developed. Never wrote a review for this place and I was truly shocked to see so many negative reviews!

Order here a lot as my partner has a wheat allergy. Menu clearly highlights dishes which are gluten free or can be made wheat free. Never had a problem with the dishes and they taste great.

Decent clean place. Plenty space inside and a nicer than usual seating area. Large menu with all the old favourites. I had bbq spare ribs which were excellent. Then had sweet and sour chicken cantonese style. It was fine, nothing to get excited about but good enough. Good portions.

In the past, food has arrived hot and delicious within 40mins. Today food arived 1 hr and 20mins after order placed and was tepid at best. Delivery person was unhelpful and incomprehrnsibke. Person on phone at Ricebox was evasive and unhelpful. We were willing to recieve a replacement meal if delivered within 40mins. We were given waffle about other deliveries being made along the way so maybe within in a hour. Not customer to give to a dissatisfied customer you are trying to retain. Go someplace else.

Great food & fast delivery. Lots of dishes to choose from, friends love the salt and chilli dishes. Big portions as well.

We had a delicious Chinese meal that was all gluten free and they understood about soy sauce having wheat and they offered to leave out anything we wanted. Easy to order and got delivered 20 minutes early. Great stuff.

Segunda visita y estoy masticando mientras escribo. Mi primera visita fue para refutar realmente algunos de los comentarios ya hechos: las algas crujientes eran exquisitas, las costillas de Pekín eran raras, muy raras, el pollo al limón adecuado, pero el Golden Crispy Beef, simplemente no era muy Golden Era de color marrón oscuro, duro como una roca y cuando lo conseguí a una etapa masticable, fibrosa y sin sabor. Maldición, me encanta GCB, pero esto fue un desastre. Todos merecen una segunda oportunidad, así que lo intenté de nuevo. Nuevamente, algas maravillosas, costillas BBQ - negras y quemadas con una salsa BBQ. No cocido en exceso, pero quemado en un estado casi carbón, incomible. Este lugar no es barato por cierto. Carne crujiente con salsa de chile: el mismo corte de carne de res, fibroso, masticable y casi imposible de tragar. No es bueno, realmente no es bueno. Con tantos platos chinos para llevar en Edimburgo, pruébalos primero. ¿Por qué 1 estrella cuando algo de la comida era comestible? QUEMADURAS QUEMADAS - que en realidad enviaron es simplemente imperdonable.

I pop in for a takeaway ,after work today and ordered chicken mushroom soup and chicken curry ,the soup was not to bad ,but the chicken curry was disgusting ,if I lived closer to Easter road ,I would of took it back and got my money back ,the curry came out like a block and not like a sauce ,chicken was chewy ,it had the feel to it ,like it could of been frozen and just heated up ,I will not be using this place again !

Would have given zero stars if I could. Food plentiful & delivered swiftly, albeit overpriced. Everything was completely bland right down to the prawn crackers. Chicken in sweet & sour full of bones, spare ribs tough & ive never seen spring rolls like them - deep fried in thick over cooked batter, like something from the chip shop. I would rather have put the £31 in the bin, which is where all the food ended up.

La sal y alas de pollo chili para entrante era encantador, pero que es donde se acabó para mí. Pedí pollo bolas de dulce y agria y la salsa era insípida y aguada. La opción libre de gluten según mi novio es muy sabroso (golden crujiente pollo con salsa de chili). También he probado el pollo satay que también era terrible con ningún parecido a una salsa de cacahuate. No más visitas de mí.

Tengo langostinos y champiñones con arroz frito, estaba muy bien cocinado y no grasoso, mi compañero había triturado carne con fideos suaves, realmente lo disfruté, he estado buscando años para un buen aspecto chino, como lo hemos encontrado, porque todos los demás en nuestra área son terribles

Really like this Chinese. Taste and felt you get more food than other local Chinese’s. I do think it’s expensive though. Doesn’t stop me from going.

La comida olía a sólo puede describirse es un cruce entre un hámster la jaula y orina/amoniaco. . . . . No hay mejor sabía. y después de 3 bocados decidimos bin antes de potencialmente se enfermó. . . . Lamentablemente puedo decir nada bueno. . . . In our defence, we were very hungry but if ever the phrase,"if only we'd looked on Trip Advisor" was more apt this was it. It's pretty average at best. The monstrous spring rolls are just grease balls full of mushy noodles. The other dishes we ordered were ok. Oh yes, the staff could smile also. Other than that it was great.

After a heavy night of drinking this Chinese was local. Worst. Idea. Ever. Food was absolutely unbearable, chicken was dry, solid and greasy. Peking sauce was horrid. Only thing I ended up eating was pineapple, which was even swimming in grease. Best thing was the fortune cookie. Defo give this Chinese a miss.

The literal worst Chinese in Edinburgh. I ordered mix veg satay and was delivered a mix veg curry. Sounds like no big deal right? Well... I called the guy to tell him and he said that it is a Chinese satay with NO PEANUTS. Sorry mate satay is a peanut sauce. Without peanuts there is no satay. They did say they would bring me another satay but then called back to say they would have to give me something else, most likely cause they googled satay sauce and found out they were idiots. The guy came and had the nerve to stand at the door and tell that it definitely was satay and that it actually had some crushed peanuts that I might not be able to taste. So either untastable peanuts or no peanuts. I was stupid to trust my mate who told me to disregard the terrible reviews. Please trust me the don't even know how to cook the right dish. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Save yourself the hassle and order from anywhere else or just get your food out a bin. It would be better.

Wrong order came, we ordered salt and chilli chips & sweet and sour chicken. Chicken and vegetables came in gravy, and normal chips came. We were Charged a fortune. Satay smelt absolutely horrendous and was mainly vegetables, no peanut sauce and hardly any meat. Genuinely the worst Chinese we have ever had. Stay away if you have any sense.

He vivido muy cerca de Ricebox durante un año. Fui tres veces en ese año, y las dos veces después de la primera era porque yo estaba muy borracho y fue la única opción que quedaba abierta. Los tres llevar eran malísimos. Al final me escribió "prometo nunca de pedir de nuevo "en Ricebox la pizarra en mi cocina para tratar de recordar la versión de borrachos yo que sería un error.

Verdes crujientes eran tan salada como para ser comestible. Pollo en salsa de alubias amarillo también muy salada, pero casi comestible cuando mezclado con arroz hervido. Llamé para quejarme y me dijeron que era el glutamato monosodiium. Y las cosas no resisten experiencias en su menú.

La primera vez que busca en el menú me impresionó que destacó lo era sin gluten y lo que podría modificarse para ser sin gluten. Cuando llamé para realizar el pedido que se cercioró de que yo estaba pidiendo el gluten opciones gratis y que no había pasta en el pollo y me aseguraron de que todos estaríamos mejor gratis. Cuando recibí mi pedido el plato de pollo que pedimos estaba cubierto en masa. Me quedé muy decepcionado después de tener tan grandes esperanzas para el restaurante y escuchar buenas críticas.

I was attracted to this chinese takeaway as it offered gluten free dishes, feeling somewhat limited in my options i persevered after the first delivery being very underwhelming, i tried different dishes hoping i had made a bad selection. But to be honest it might be gf, but every dish has been horrible, the food is certainly not fresh, tastes as if it has been lying in a freezer then chucked in the micro.

Ordered 11pm Friday 5/8/16 home delivery.Half duck with pancakes and hoisin.Chicken balls.Golden beef. Crispy greens. Fried rice.Sauces.Received delivery fairly promptly and were impressed by the look of the duck. Was a bit dry but quite tasty. Not bad...We thought we were in for a real treat and got stuck in to the rest.Golden beef is hands down the worst dish I have ever received from any takeaway. We broke open a piece to investigate the strange flavour. It didn't look like beef, smell like beef, taste like beef. Nothing. We are seriously troubled at this. Disgusting. Chicken balls had breast featuring black cists throughout the dish. The worst quality chicken I've ever had. Ever. Crispy greens were soggy and Chewie beyond measure. Had to be torn apart.Awful, just awful. Didn't call straight back to inform takeaway as were exhausted from our day and needed rest, not a fight with a takeaway, as had full schedules Saturday Sunday. Top of mind was contacting the food standards agency to provide with a sample of this strange meat. It was not beef, pork, chicken, game. Like nothing I've ever seen before.Sore stomachs for both of us immediately following consumption and following day.Called Monday to inform of worst takeaway ever. Couldn't help as had to call back to inform of any problems on the day. Fair enough. Couldn't seem to appreciate that the scale of awfulness of this takeaway took us two days to get over. Worst £36 we've ever spent on food. You'll never get a penny from us again. Needs shut down. Fact.

I actually went to the bother of joining trip advisor to review this place, such is my absolute disgust with the over priced crap that they sent out. I had family over for the weekend and we decided to get a takeaway delivered for their last night here in Edinburgh. We ordered five separate main courses between us, what we were delivered I can only describe as absolutely vile!The Peking chicken and salt and chilli chicken were nothing more than burned chewy batter, the sweet and sour prawn dish was absolutely vile, covered in an uncooked batter served in a watery sauce. The beef and black bean sauce actually smelt like urine! It was horrific, and as for my own dish, chicken in satay sauce; disgusting! Like no other satay I have ever tasted! Watery, stinking and absolutely tasteless.Overall we threw it all in the bin, the best part of the takeaway were the pre- packed fortune cookies and that's a compliment. Overpriced and absolutely disgusting. Would never recommend to anyone.

The staff was very rude, we order 2 mains , we went home and tried and taste very funny, we saw the review in trip advisor and the review was shocking , every one was sick.We threw everything in the bin . In the night my stomach was bit funny , luckily I had a month full only .

Having heard the Rice Box was good we thought we would give it a try as our usual Chinese takeaway are on holiday.Found menu online, easy to order. It stopped being good there.1/ Was told 30/40 minutes , over an hour. I called to inquire if order was on was and told what did I expect ! I'd ordered dim sum.2/ Order did arrive in snazzy bag and wrapping. Two large flabby , fatty , over browned spring rolls dripping in grease.They tasted rancid and tangy almost so ended up bin.The bottom of the bag was swimming in grease that leakied through the polythene on to the work top .3/ Dim sum all stuck together but edible.4/ Both mains very oily , sauce separating. Carrots and veg pre boiled and heated through. Beef was so tough as to be unedible . No real taste and peanuts in the cashew nut sauce ! Dangerous for those with allergies.5/ Had been enough to leave some for next day..... In the bin .6/Within the hour my poor husband was violently sick and very upset tummy.I feel queasy all night.7/ At almost £30.00 for two mains and two starters feel robbed.No amount of incentive would ever make us return.Avoid , avoid , avoid!Even the fortune cookie was stale.

After fiew months gave this place a second try, and sadly saying its worse than it was, food is tasteless, overcoocked, and expensive.After eating their spring roll my Girlfriend went sick.Ill newer it their food again!!!!

Recommended by one of the neigbour, we tried this place on a friday night. I ordered prawns, and I totally regret this choice. I was terribly sick, it was awfull. Please stop going to this place,nthat is also I think very expensive regarding the quantities and the quality, of course.

My first time ordering. I live at the bottom of easter road and delivery was £2.50, it arrived in 30 minutes and was hot but expensive at £25 for 2 mains, 2 starters and 1 rice. The large spring rolls arrived in a cardboard box each and were huge, dripping with oil out of the box whilst the pastry was just a giant 2 inch wide blob showing no finesse in wrapping and over fried so it was dark brown, I took one bite of the greasy thing and threw both away. The chilli and salt chicken wings were not much better, instead of being dry in a thin layer of batter with a spicy flavour they were in a thick layer of batter, greasy and bland so we ate 3 and threw them out. My stripped chicken with peppers was in a nice looking slightly thick broth, there were many pieces of chicken but mostly onions and the taste was average. My husband's sweet and sour chicken was also average and the chicken itself was in a thick batter. The egg fried rice was the only nice thing. At £25 it was not worth it. I ate a bit of rice and chicken and I'm no longer hungry but hardly pleased with the outlay. I rarely order take away but one I used to like closed down. My favourite Rendezvous will be where I will order take away from even though my favourite dish is best in the restaurant rather than take away.

Hadn't used Ricebox on Easter Rd for a number of years and will never use it again. If you want a mouthful of salt with your extra tough beef curry with soft and chewy prawn crackers, order from here otherwise avoid at all costs. £25 for a meal for two is quite expensive as well for a Chinese on Easter Rd!

Had previously said I wouldn't go back, but gave it one last chance as I really fancied some salt and chilli ribs. They were really good, really tasty! My faith has been restored.

The first time we tried this it wS good (see my other review)The second time was not good. My husband's crispy beef was cremated so badly that he couldn't even eat it and most of it went in the bin. I did phone and was told this is the way we make it, but it had definitely been overdone!The third (and final time) we decided to just go with the salt & chilli ribs. We had them on two previous occassions and they were so tasty. We ordered about 930 on a Friday night, and it tasted like they just put all the leftovers in the pot in, just scraggly little ribs laden with salt but with no flavour and we had to throw most of them out.Save your money and try somewhere else!

I ordered yesterday battered squid with sweet & sour sauce. The squid was unseasoned and soggy and there was a thick layer of oil on the bottom of the box. The "sweet & sour sauce" had a soupy consistency and tasted almost of nothing with kind of weird artificial, peachy background flavour. The rice again had no seasoning.The whole dish was inedible and I binned it. Well, at least my dog had some of the rice and seemed to enjoy it.That was definitely my last order there.

First time this evening: the Peking Dumplings (23) were passable, but the Beancurd and Vegetables in Peking Sauce (247) were just about the worst I've ever had (they tasted old & stale - I ended up eating only the pineapple). The hot & sour soup tasted as though it was broth thickened and stuffed with additives, and the beancurd in black bean sauce was watery and the beancurd, again, tasted stale. So disappointed.

I've ordered from Ricebox since they opened and they have always been brilliant. The food is never okay, it's always delicious. Everything is made fresh, so it takes about 45 mins for an order, but it is well worth the wait. The portion size is so good that I usually make mine do 2 meals.Excellent and worth every penny.

Tried this tonight for the first time. Was slightly more expensive than other similar takeaways.Food was tasty but very small portions. Also you need to spend £20 to get free prawn crackers, when every other takeaway usually give you them for spending half that.Food is good, but you need to balance that up with paying more for a smaller portion!

Cost you a lot of money and their food is so dry. My friend picked the food up and came home which is 3 mins away from their shop the food was just lukewarm. Next day of course I had my diorea

I went there this evening, no smiles, no welcome. I ordered, and waited, the food came on time but sat on the back counter while one of the staff was at the computer. I waited for 5 minutes until someone else came to give me my food, so when I got home it was tepid. The food was not much to write home about either. Poor show. My first and last time there

thinking that being expensive could mean better quality we ordered from them. big mistake. beef in oyster sauce had to go in the bin as it had a very strong smell of being out of date. It was full of bamboo and carrots, same as king prawns so they may use the same thing for most dishes. The prawns were far from king size and only 6 in total. We sent feedback but never got any answer. prawn crackers were destroyed so we couldn't enjoy them either

Really surprised by all the negative reviews for Ricebox on here. I can't comment on the quality of their meat dishes so perhaps they do poorly there but having tried the options available at some better reviewed Edinburgh takeaways I can definitely say that their beancurd/tofu dishes are some of the best I've had in Edinburgh and there are plenty to choose from so if you're vegetarian/vegan then Ricebox is certainly worth a look! Highly recommend the 'Deep Fried Salt and Chilli Beancurd' as an appetizer. It's delicious and you get a fairly hefty portion. The 'Mixed Vegetables and Beancurd in Satay Sauce' always hits the spot for a main as well.

Honestly guys, I used to order from here but it was always so disappointing so I haven't used Ricebox for a couple of years. I got a menu posted through the door today and thought I'd give it another shot... what a huge mistake. The driest, most miserable chicken satay skewers I have ever had the misfortune to clamp my jaws on and even the sauce they were drenched in couldn't save them. Mixed fried appetisers that had obviously been refried at least several times in a past life and at the princely sum of £8.40 for two people (barely enough for one person, ha!) what a bargain... No No No never again!

Literally been 15 minutes since delivery and already the starter has been binned as over(reheated) mixed appetiser has cracked my tooth as dim sum was more like biting into rocksMain course was LEMON chicken .. emphasis on lemon as it was like drinking a bottle of Jif lemon juice, the chicken was tasteless rubber in soggy batterThe several times Fried Rice was oily and rubberyToffee Apples were bland and tasteless. All were squashed into the tray so all congealed into one soggy mess. Will NOT be ordering from Rice Box EVER again

After talking 2 a family member about what they were having 4 tea I decided 2 order the same from my chinese. I ordered roast pork chow mein and what I thought was going 2 be a can of juice. After waiting 50 minutes for delivery, I received a 1.5 litre of coke and a rather small tube of chow mein. It was luke warm at most and rather greasy. I was mostly shocked at the £9.30!!! I had 2 pay for it (this was including a £1.20 delivery charge. I did get a "free" paper napkin, wooden chop sticks and a fortuine cookie that read "stop clock-watching" well I did wait 50 minutes for my tea so that was pretty true.

Always go to Ricebox. Better than the rest in the area. Very tasty salt & chili bean curd, get it every time. Also the shredded chicken in chill sauce is great.

im actually quite shocked at everyone's negative comments for this place! myself and my boyfriend have been here twice in the past few weeks and we havent been dissapointed. we ordered a variety between chicken curry, prawns, salted chilli ribs, salted chilli chips and they were by far the best chinese take out ive had in a long time! keep it up :)

My partner and I have always been under the impression that Chinese dishes that are on every take-away meny across the country were pretty much the same in terms of standard and taste - tonight, we were proved very wrong! We both ordered crispy shredded chilli beef and also ordered rice, noodles and a side of prawn crackers. We ordered online after receiving a menu through the door a few weeks back. The process was pretty simple and the food arrived fast (40 mins from ordering on a saturday evening) however delivery was a massive £2.20, despite us only being a 2 minute drive away (we were merely having a lazy night!) The take-away bag was pretty fancy and they have a loyalty 'token' system - you can use the tokens to buy branded goods and the food was hot...but i'm afraid that's where the positives end. The crispy shredded beef instead of being a sticky, chewy dish (as it always seems to be elsewhere) was drenched - and i mean drenched - in a relatively tasteless, thick sauce. The hunks of meat were far from crispy and tasted floury and tough. The noodles and rice were pretty standard fare, bit greasier than expected but tasty in comparison to the beef. All in all, far from satisfying. We will not be ordering from this restaurant again and suggest others take heed of the reviews on this website and others online before they consider it. I only wish we'd read the reviews before we ordered! For those of you who do order and are tempted by the addition of extras such as fortune cookies/chopsticks or prawn crackers to your meal - it's also worth noting that these ended up coming free with ours - the former in little pre-packaged packs with napkins, so i'm assuming these are given to all customers.

Absolutely disgusting sweet and sour chicken in batter, burnt to a crisp and also included prawns which we did not order. When I phoned to complain someone who was completely uninterested said oh yeah sorry about that.Will not be ordering from them again...ever!

Takeaway looked great from outside but food was awful ordered a curry which tasted like powder! Chicken and sweetcorn meal was like eating gravy - overall very disappointed and would not be back.

We were promised that our order will be ready in 15-20 minutes, but it actually took more than half an hour. The food was below-average - some dishes were OK but others just didn't taste good.

Looks good - nice branded paper delivery bags, fortune cookies, chopsticks etc but food is horrendous. have given them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a few times but it didn't get any better - the only edible thing i ever got was the dim sum - ok but nothing special. main courses are inedible. Anything that comes with a sauce is tastelss (water and cornflour) and the cheapest, wobbliest bits of meat. Also tried some beef dish with no sauce and it had the most bizarre texture and tasted of soap. complained but have never received a response. They should invest more money in quality ingredients and less on fancy packaging. It is also twice the price of the chinese in Albert street and there the food is good and the staff are so much nicer.

Grumpy staff serving indelible Chinese food. The meal I had - chicken chow mein - is almost impossible to get wrong, yet the kitchen managed to destroy the dish with the huge amount of salt they added.

I really did not want to order at there, just want have a try. the food was not so good as the menu says.

Stodgy stuff folks! Poor quality meats and the atmosphere is awkward to say the least!
