Restaurant Maurizio’s Italian Pizza and Pasta in Blaby

I was with my family and my little 2-year-old child, when I got there they said they were busy and that they couldn't receive me at the moment, after that I left and walked for 45 minutes, I came back and they said that they have a free table for an hour, after which I decided to stay, being with a small child in a pram, the staff told me to pack my pram and put it behind them so as not to disturb the customers, after which I accepted, but once again we changed our mind and wanted to leave, while I was going to get the stroller I heard him say to the person who offered to put the stroller in the back for me, its a stress when I heard that I told them that it is not a stress and I wanted to take my stroller and leave. then the pizzeria started to say that I shouldn't be interested in how he talks to the staff and told me to leave the place because he is the owner, etc., I don't think such a thing is normal, because I had an experience with them the first year very bad as you can see in the picture, the second time I said to try again to see if it's still the same, considering that I spent £60 on a table that really isn't worth it. very rude and disrespectful staff. totally disappointed.

Apart from the pizza this is not a good Italian to dine at. Even the pizza was pretty small for the price paid. We ordered the pasta dish with forest mushrooms, but clearly they had run out and used whatever they had - which was disappointing. Also they couldn’t get tiramisu right! It was made to order which meant the sponge was hard and crusty as it didn’t have enough time to set. For a cafe style venue, the food was overpriced and a huge let down. I’m not sure why they have so many good reviews. Perhaps it is just a pizzeria and we ordered wrong.

This place is brilliant, went here for the first time with my family and could not believe how good the food was. Without doubt the best Italian food I have eaten outside of Rome, cannot wait to come back.

Wonderful food at this smallish very rustic Italian restaurant. I had the special of Parma Ham Tortellini with Ragu sauce and my husband had the David Pizza which was a vegetarian option. Both utterly superb, the Pizza was piled with topping with proper large pieces of fresh mozzerella and the Tortellini looked handmade and were beautifully flavoured with a lovely rich Ragu. Absolutely delicious. I know some reviews have criticised the service, but our experience of the service was that it was very friendly and although our meals came at slightly different times, the waiter apologised and we thought that was fine as everything was so freshly prepared to order. If you like authentic great food served in a real-life atmosphere, this place is for you, we loved it.

Visited this restaurant for a dine-in but was too cramped for our liking so decided to have a takeout instead. After looking at the general hygiene there especially the toilets I thought be interesting to see what food hygiene rating they have as I couldn't see any hygiene rating displayed but wasn't surprised not to find them listed listed on the food hygiene rating website. The Margherita pizza was burnt but the was okay.

Ordered a pizza with no oregano as I am allergic to it and and the pizza had oregano. Asked kindly to remake my pizza but I was told that it was not possible. Nothing was even offered to reimburse the mistake.

What would be a fairly middle of the road restaurant in Italy is a standout in the UK for its authenticity, its atmosphere, and the price. Great, simple food served by friendly people with beer you can't easily find elsewhere in town.

Unfortunately, this was our favorite Italian restaurant until yesterday, first of all they put us somewhere in the basement, the feeling was that you were in a sauna, the slightest spark would burn everything out in 5 minutes. The service was low, the wait for food was about 40 minutes. I always ordered carbonara pasta there, never had any problems, but yesterday it was something terrible. I have never eaten such disgusting pasta, half a plate of fat with strange bacon, and it was also bitter. We made a remark, to which we were told, sorry, our chef followed the recipe (what the hell is the recipe? I ate fat with pasta; I felt like I was eating an English breakfast with pasta). After this pasta, I spent the night in the toilet; I have never felt so bad. I'll never go back there again. It's a pity that people make money but don't think about the quality of food I am very sorry that I have to give such an assessment, but I really felt very bad and I think that the apology was not enough. I would advise people to be careful before ordering food there.

First time here and was a great choice for a birthday meal with friends. Staff were friendly and upbeat and the food was 10/10. Almost felt like we wasn’t in leicester and was on holiday, will be returning again soon 🇮🇹

Friendly service but very amateur and unprofessional. Good bolognese. Absolutely awful tiramisu that was made on the spot (you cannot make tiramisu like this, the sponge doesn't have time to soak in the coffee, it was a joke). Slightly overpriced.

The best pizza ever. The food is incredible anyone that wants finger licking food this is the place. I go often and recommend this place to anyone that wants some beautiful authentic Italian food. This is the best Italian I have been to in Leicester! I have been 4 times now and the quality of the food keep getting better and better. The restaurant doesn’t look appealing from the outside but don’t be fooled as this is a place definitely worth visiting and is a real hidden gem. The service is always excellent too. We weren’t sure where to go for lunch and were passing by and decided to pop in on a whim. We hit the jackpot, what an amazing little gem of a find. Lovely friendly welcome, sat down and chose a drink then the hard part of choosing food. I wanted to try everything on the menu! We opted for lasagna and the spaghetti maya from the specials board. We shared fries and arancini too. The presentation of my spaghetti was impressive, really had the wow factor. Food was all really delicious and big portions, we were too full to try the puddings unfortunately but saw one being made for the table next to us and it looked great. We will definitely be back here and I’ve already recommended it to others.

We have been here before and the homemade pizzas and pasta are outstanding cannot fault , but i fear due to cost of living crisis the business itself has decided to ramp up the cost of drinks to ridiculous proportions . A small (and I mean small ), glass of wine was £9, i was stunned and called the waiter over to double check the price and he insisted that was correct ,my husband had a teeny tiny bottle of Moretti beer for £4.50 ! Suffice to say we didn't stay for dessert or have any more drinks and promptly left , is a real shame as is lovely atmosphere and i was about to book a girly night here ,but honestly £9 for a glass of wine when you can get an entire bottle in the Cosy Club for £20 was just too much to bear , sorry we are all experiencing hard times i have to draw the line. Please also note the online menu prices were completely different to the in house menu prices ie cheaper !!!

We opted to visit Maurizio’s based on the food reviews. We don’t know anyone that had been here before and to be honest we didn’t even know this restaurant existed! Boy what a find!! Would definitely recommend to sit upstairs in the heart of the restaurant. It is intimate, lively and feels so authentic! The family run restaurant is so cute and it feels like you are in Italy! We decided to order two pizzas as a starter - the calabrese and the vegetariana. Authentic and amazingly tasty! The Calabrese is so tasty and spicy!! We then ordered pasta dishes - carbonara, ravioli, cannelloni and a seafood tagliatelle - all amazingly tasty! Although we were very full we had to try one serving of the tiramisu too! Very tasty too!! All in all an amazing, wonderful and tasty night out! A gem of an authentic Italian restaurant! We will definitely be coming back again and again and again!!

Heard that this place's food is definitely worth trying despite the bad service so me and my husband booked a table. It was a Friday we booked for 7.45. we arrived at 7.30 and were seated in the basement (tables so close together I had to squeeze in, and I'm small). Got given menus and 10 minutes went by, no one came to take any orders (not even drinks) l. Then a young lady came down and started cleaning a large table that had just left. We had to let her know that are ready to order and she said someone will come and take our order. Another 15 minutes went by ( the girl still coming down but just to clean that same table). By this point we we're fed up of waiting as we'd been there half an hour in total with not even a drinks or starters order being taken, so we left. As we were walking out the older lady asked what's wrong and we said we have been here for half an hour and no one's taken our order. We didn't really get a response, she just laughed (with fed up-ness) and walked on. The poor service here seems to be a thing. But the food is supposed to be really nice. Shame we didn't get to try any!

The best pizza I have tried outside of Italy, one mouthful and it took me back to a holiday I loved in Sorrento as a teenager. The restaurant itself is lovely, nice and cosy, the staff are attentive. I had a view of the kitchen and every dish that came out I wanted to try. Cannot wait to come back and try some pasta dishes. Glad I saved some room for the tiramisu, it was so light and delicious. I've been to Maurizio's twice now and know it'll be our regular spot from now on. The food is absolutely delicious. Italian outside of Italy isn't what I usually go for when going out to eat but my sister raved about Maurizios, so I thought we'd give it a try.
