Restaurant at Tigh na Sgiath in Highland

Lucky to find that dinner was available on one of the nights. The meal was excellent. Extremely well cooked, presented and served. Don't miss the opportunity to eat there if you can. Elaine is a great cook/chef.

We relaxed in the holiday bubble of Tigh na Sgiath. But where everyone has become used to COVID bubbles this one was different. We were enclosed within an authentic ambience that energised the spirit and stilled the soul under the unobtrusive, sensitive service from Iain with Elaine creatively crafting culinary delights behind the scenes. Ballindaloch was our resting place that resonated Victorian valour and for a few days time stood still. Sunshine, a world class environment where flora and fauna seemed at one allowed us to savour every moment. We appreciate our seamless experience that glided effortlessly like an osprey on the wing was the product of skilful hospitality and hard work but that was never evident! Bubble? Bubbles! Really delighted to raise a glass of fizz and toast our terrific time - many thanks Iain and Elaine.

Beautiful afternoon tea served in the grounds of the hotel. The host was very genial and we were made to feel very welcome . A nice selection of sandwiches was followed by scones and a good selection of dainty cakes, all immaculately served on bone china. We liked the little ginger cakes the best, but it was all lovely. Perhaps next time we’ll have the Prosecco option!

The restaurant is part of the hotel run personally by the owners. Iain runs front of house and made us feel welcome and valued guests. We had dinner and breakfast there. Dinner was 3 courses and coffee for £68, and we added two large glasses of red wine for another £12. Hubby had this gorgeous soup. It would not have been my choice, but we swapped half way through It was butternut squash and chilli served with a garnish of coconut cream. Delish. My mini seafood platter was good as well prawns in Marie Rose sauce wrapped in smoked salmon, rollmop herring, and smoked mackerel served with a salad. For main course we both chose the pork fillet done in a very nice creamy sauce on a bed of well flavoured white pudding. Maybe the veg was slightly overdone, but that's down to personal taste. The desserts were pretty damn good! He had a nice apple and cinnamon strudel with ice cream, but I beat him with mini profiteroles filled with chantilly cream and a Baileys chocolate cream.MMM.. The coffee was served in a pot, with fudge and Turkish delight. At breakfast we both had orange juice and french toast with bacon and maple syrup. The French toast was so light it almost floated away, Very nice meal. There was of course toast and marmalade on the side. A wonderful touch was a silver pot full of tea, drunk from china cups. Overall the place is impressive country house style. Fresh flowers abound, in the drawing room and restaurant, Wonderfully clean

Dinner is served for people staying at the hotel and their guests. A lovely choice of dishes and special diets are catered for with advance warning. They couldn’t have been more helpful with my husband’s requirements. Drinks were served by the roaring fire in the hall. The food was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Dinner was available on Friday and Saturday of the week we stayed. The food was delicious and there was "Tablet" (fudge like my mother used to make) with the coffee at the finish.

We were very lucky that the hotel were offering dinner on our Saturday evening - we had a wonderful three course meal and loved every dish. Great.

Lovely breakfast by the fire. Nice selection- proper coffee ☕️ I had the kippers and my partner the porridge and full English!

Elaine is a wonderful chef and her husband Ian is a fine host, with grace and the light bit of humor that makes the corners of your eyes twinkle! Delicious!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our morning breakfasts while staying here at Tigh Na Sgiath. We highly recommend this lovely place!

Dazu dieses besonders schöne Haus, welches stilvoll restauriert/renovíert wurde. Da das Restaurant nur Hausgästen zur Verfügung steht, ist es angenehm ruhig und man bekommt die volle Aufmerksamkeit von Iain und Elaine. Letztere kocht auf Sterneniveau.

We had the seaffod platter, lamb shank, prawn entree, pate entree and chicken. All excellent and highly recommended.

We stayed at Tigh na Sgiath for three nights, the first night the restaurant was closed and we ate in the town, which was ok. The next two nights we ate in and were amazed at the quality of the food and the service. The Caramelised onion Tart as starter was amazing and the Sticky Toffee Pudding to die for. The locals must be really upset that they will only serve residents!!

A splendid menu with a good choice of locally sourced food, deliciously cooked by Elaine and served by Iain with impeccable style.

Ate here on consecutive nights during a recent stay. We had been sent the menu choice in advance of our stay and found the choice and quality of food excellent. Food was well prepared, hot and served in a timely manner.

Attention to detail with great flavor and taste!!! This restaurant is a must visit type of place and a jewel that we had the pleasure of enjoying during our visit to Scotland.

My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous meal in their lovely dining room. There is a nice variety of menu selections - a first, second, and third course for a set price. There is a vegetarian option and Iain and Elaine went out of their way to make sure they were able to give me a wonderful vegan meal. I would recommend advance notice for them as they have great customer service and will do their best to accommodate your needs!! There is a nice beer, wine and cocktail selections well. If they are offering dinner when you are there - definitely join them!! I highly recommend their restaurant!!

I only stayed for one night at Tigh na Sgiath but the dinner was outstanding and Ian is the perfect host.

We visited the restaurant whilst staying at the hotel and were delighted both with the food and the service. Good selection of dishes for each course.

Breakfast - selection of fruit juices, cereals, porridge, vegan breakfast and full English breakfast served with toast, tea or coffee. Evening meal- a varied choice from the menu including vegan. The meals we had there were magnificent, would definitely recommend.

Cannot recommend the food here enough! Excellent choice with a vast amount of local produce. The food presentation is a work of art.

We had a three course meal here and we couldn't fault it at all - it was delicious! Highly recommend!

We had dinner on Sunday night in this charming country hotel. Iain our host asked us what time we'd like to dine, and took our order from a super menu with lots of choice. We ordered a pre dinner drink, which we had overlooking one of the lovely gardens. There is a rather good whisky menu, for malt lovers, but there are choices in food and drink for all tastes. After dinner coffee was served either in the lounge or in your room. We elected the lounge where our springer spaniel was able to join us! Iain and Elaine are dog owners too. The whole experience at Tigh na Sgiath is superb.

Disfrutamos de la cena en dos noches diferentes durante nuestra estancia en Tigh na Sgaith. La comida era fantástica y muy bien presentada. La pechuga de pato entrante era tierna con una salsa sabrosa y el plato de marisco era increíble, con mejillones, salmón, caballa, arenque ahumado, en escabeche ensalada de guarnición. Los campos incluido un plato de salmón ahumado y gambas, y fruta fresca y sorbete en una cesta de piñas. Hay una buena selección de vinos para todos los bolsillos. El servicio era amable. Una experiencia muy agradable en un ambiente hermoso y gentil. No se puede perder!

We could not have been more satisfied with the lovely dinner, wines, pre-dinner drinks and the service we enjoyed on our recent visit. The West Coast Seafood Platter was my (good) choice.

Desafortunadamente el hotel no sirve comida cada noche, pero tenían un menú especial en whhilst estuvimos allí y a 28 libras para tres campos absolutamente impresionante fue realmente buena relación calidad-precio! Was our favourite place to eat in the area and we have never found quality of food to match that served at Tigh Na Sgiath! Unfortunately evening meals are no longer served but the afternoon tea is delicious and well worth trying.

Fuimos para el té de la tarde en este encantador hotel casa de campo. Los pasteles eran para morirse, y había un montón de diferentes tipos. Había un buen café y un montón de bocadillos, bollos con crema, crema de limón y mermelada. Los propietarios son muy amables y acogedores y hay unas vistas preciosas de la sala de estar.

I've reported to TA that this restaurant is "permanently closed". Still open as a "hotel" (should really be called a B&B now offering breakfast and afternoon teas. There is a separate listing for the hotel. We confirmed by telephone with the hotel that they were no longer offering dinner on 3 April 2016.

Took our three children as a treat and they loved it. Superb food and service. The accompanying veg is always a treat in itself as was the rest of the meal. The duck in particular is delicious. Highly recommended.

We ate dinner at Tigh na Sgaith every night during our stay of 4 nights and each meal was superb and pure perfection! The service is excellent. Don't miss dinner!

We couldn't get a table for an evening meal so decided to go for the afternoon tea instead - we were not disappointed! Sandwiches were beautifully fresh and the cakes were fantastic. Just to make sure we were completely full there were fresh scones with a choice of cream or clotted cream.You need to book 24 hours in advance because all the cakes are freshly made and it is well worth it.Highly recommended.

Booked dinner for Thursday night, hosts were friendly and attentive. Set in a beautiful part of the countryside.Menu was 5 courses ,starter ,soup, sorbet, main and desert, which were all beautifully presented and was delicious, this was the highlight of our wee break. I decided to have the cheeses platter, as I'm not fond of goat/sheep's cheese, our host supplied an extra piece of the Scottish Brie, very kind of him. Very reasonably priced too.My only regret was that we did not book accommodation, our dog Sally would have been very welcome too!!

Never fails to disappoint. Creative menu and lovely ambience. From the moment you arrive until you leave you are well looked after. Only comment is the dining room might benefit from some soft classical background music.

Fantastic dinner and breakfast with award winning haggis and everything wonderfully cooked. Be prepared to be very full all the time! No bar, but They have a wide range of drinks on offer, and for a corkage you can open your own Whisky!

We stayed at the hotel for 3 days and tried different things off the menu. We were not disappointed with our choices, only wished we could have stayed on a few more days!Beautifully presented and generous.

The food was excellent and the setting is lovely.We struggled to find any restaurants in the area that tickled our fancy as they all seemed quite ordinary. This place was very good and we thought good value for the quality and quantity of courses. The wine list was excellent too.

This was our most expensive meal out, at £40 per person not including the drinks. But it was absolutely delicious, with five courses including sorbet and soup, and real care given to special diets (mine is not easy: no meat, no shellfish, no wheat or milk products), not just leaving sauces off but providing good substitutes to the whole dish worked well each time. And the resturant looks out over a nice garden and has a calm gentle atmosphere. Recommended for a treat.

Tigh na Sgiath er en bortgjemt perle på den skotske landsbygda som drives av et hyggelig ektepar. Restauranten serverer mat i absolutt toppklasse, vinen er også fortreffelig. Linduk, krystallglass og kandelabre gir en følelse av luksus. Vi fikk kaffen servert i gode lenestoler foran peisen i hallen. Man føler seg ivaretatt, servicen er personlig, og de flotte rommene gir deg en følelse av å være en ekte skotsk laird. Ingen barnemeny, barna får det samme som de voksne, men kan velge færre retter.

People have raved locally about the restaurant.It has been under current ownership for several years. Husband and wife team.Lovely country house. Choice for dinner was very good and 5 courses.I had the scallops and the venison. Scallops were very good although small portion.Told venison was served pink. Regrettably mine while very nice was overcooked.Puddings were good and overall service was pretty good despite the restaurant being busy mainly with Hotel guests. Atmosphere a little stuffy. Could do with some quiet background music as most people talking in whispers. Help yourself coffee after dinner bit of a let down as not served at table and were not offered liquors or anything else after leaving dining room.Value for money. Not sure 5 courses not always what people want.Cost £37.50 a head. Good wine list.

We returned again this summer and had an excellent meal. Everything was just right. A very pleasant and intimate dining experience.

The food is fresh, freshly cooked, well- seasoned and well- presented with just the right portion sizes. The staff are well trained and provide just the right amount of attention. Canapes served whilst waiting for the meal were delicious, starters great, soup with freshly baked bread, sorbet, main course and dessert followed by coffee and home-made petit fours. Price of £38 per head was worth every penny.I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant if you like good food and like to see staff who are well-trained in how to treat customers.

The menu and qualitty of the food offered and served was simple and extremely appetising. Staff friendly and generous in their attention to their guests. The home made bread out of this world.

Country house hotel, with good accommodation and v. high quality of food. Allows dogs.

I loved every minute of it! We even took our dog! She had a blast chasing rabbits, red deer and red squirrels. The owner Ian gave us good advice for walks around the hotel so for evening walks we didn't have to get in a car! The food is first class and as we stayed two nights, we were able to try more things on the menu. On the day we checked out we booked to go back later to try the famous afternoon cream teas, WOW!!!

I wrote a review under the hotel portion, but I wanted to comment specifically on the restaurant portion - it's absolutely wonderful. The food, the service, the quiet atmosphere - all excellent and highly recommended.

The Riverside restaurant at Dulnain Bridge is a great place to get good food at very good prices. Only 7 tables or so and only one sitting in an evening hence there is no rush or hassle to get finished. The restaurant does operate as a tea room during the day but we went for a Saturday evening meal. Food was well prepared, hot, using good fresh local produce. Scallops as a starter were excellent followed by venison (and a lot of it). My wife had prawn cocktail followed by pork. All well cooked and filling.
