Remedy Tea Rooms in Southend-on-Sea

My friend and I very much enjoyed our lunches. My toasted sandwich was very tasty. The staff were pleasant and the atmosphere is comfortable too

Was really busy, but managed to fit us in. Service was quick and we received our food soon after. Had a lovely full English breakfast, and my wife had a fish finger sandwich. Clean place and full of character.

Came to Southend and stayed overnight found this tea shop and wow are we glad we did amazing quaint tea shop with amazing food cakes and service will definatley come again

It was a busy midweek lunch time but the staff were efficient. No problem with being seated and placing our order. A toasty from the specials board was nice

I went here today for my birthday treat. Unfortunately it was poor as when I cut into one of my poached eggs I found a hair in the middle. When the waitress collected our plates I mentioned this and she told me no one in the kitchen had that colour hair and I mentioned how I found it and she said she would go and find out and never returned to our table. There was no apology for the the hair. We were hoping to finish our lunch off with scones but there was no service. My husbands bacon on his baguette was not crispy as he requested and he had to hunt for the cheese.

Visited this tea shop for breakfast with my friend. Very very disappointed. The poached eggs were so tiny they didn't even fit on one piece of toast generously. The caramel latte was extremely expensive. Service was non existent considering they weren't busy. We asked for another pot of tea as the other pot had turned cold. The old pot and tea cup weren't removed at all after giving us a fresh pot. For the size of the breakfast and service it was very expensive. Will not be returning sadly. Certainly not worth the money.

My husband and I visited a week ago and were looking forward to it. We had passed the place by chance on our last trip, but had already stopped for coffee elsewhere! The decor is perfect for a tearoom and the chairs and tables are so comfortable and perfectly fitting. The service was great and the scones were warm and tasty. However, the portion sizes were poor. The clotted cream and jam that was supposed to cover two scones was absolutely minimal. We are not at all greedy, but had to scrape every last bit - and even then could not cover the scone. I have attached a photo. There was also not enough milk in the little jug to serve the pot of tea. It is just not an enjoyable experience when the staff are clearly cutting back wherever they can. On another note, the pop music playing was out of place for a quaint tearoom and again, not relaxing. We would not return for another cream tea, which is a shame as the place itself is 10/10.

Atmosphere & decor very welcoming. The service was promt. Coffee was delicious . We didn't eat in but the food we saw looked well presented.

My lunch was very nice, a lovely toasted sandwich with a good little accompanying salad crisps. The staff were pleasant. Waitress did apologise for spilling the jug of milk, unfortunately that spoils the time still

My friend and I had a lovely afternoon tea here which must be booked and is after 2.00pm which is understandable as it avoids the lunchtime rush and also think it made our experience much more relaxing. So plentiful we were really full when we left. We really should have taken a 'doggy bag' but wanted to finish it all it was so delicious. I got in touch with the tea shop prior to the visit and were very helpful with regards to food likes and dislikes. Someone mentioned Patisserie Valerie across the road. Been there before nice food but not at all relaxing as no comfortable places to sit. Felt as though you were on a 'conveyer belt' and not a valued customer. Would highly recommend this tearoom. Loads of choice of other foods very extensive menu not just a place for afternoon tea. If I am being very picky I would have preferred to have my salmon and cream cheese in a finger sandwich rather than half a bagel. More awkward to eat but still delicious. We'll definitely be back!!

Ooh dear, I love little independence tea shops but there was just too many no no’s on our last visit, it’s never been my favourite but the wife wanted to go, I’ll keep it short, served the wrong dish, no cutlery, don’t serve milkshakes (boo hiss) waited forever,the long haired chef popped out without a hairnet, hot & stuffy, nothing wrong with the food as always just sort yourselves out

AMAZING!!!! The cutest little tea shop, great food and fantastic staff! We were made to feel so welcome and the service was fast and friendly. The team were so observant and nothing was too much trouble, very reasonably priced too! Thanks for the breakfast!! Xxx

If you are after a good cup of tea and a sandwich or slice of cake, then this is where to go in Southend. The decor may not be for everyone, it's style is a little dated, but deliberately so. It is a little reminiscent of my grandmother's sitting room, still she took afternoon tea seriously and so too does this cafe. I absolutely love it. The teas on offer are lovely, the food very enjoyable, and when they have it, the lemon meringue pie is a must.

A very charming and relaxing cafe experience with a rustic setting that you can’t help admiring amongst all the art work and furniture. Staff were very friendly & accommodating which came alongside a very enjoyable breakfast. I would highly recommend for anyone in the area looking for a relaxing breakfast/lunch experience in an otherwise very busy high street!

An excellent tea shop, what a lovely atmosphere. The waitresses are veey pleasant and efficient. I had a little wait for my very nice meal. No crisps with it today, but that's a minor thing.

I always enjoy the fresh food and great service at this cafe. Hard to find a cafe these days that serves something other than pre packaged food. Plenty of vegetarian options and reasonably priced.
