Regal Fish And Chips in Welwyn Hatfield

Saw skate on the menu and haven't had it for a few years. Was lovely and fresh, a decent portion with nice chips served very hot and was salivating waiting for it to cool down a bit before eating.

I was very disappointed with my order. The chips were dry and not very hot. The spring roll was not nice. I asked for a curry roll but there was only one left, so I had the veg roll. I was not offered to wait for one to cook. I will go back to the one in Knightsfield. The owner was misrable but thr you g lady and young man lovely.

This was the worst chips I have ever had to date. They were old, pock marked, shivelled, and tasted like the cooking oil was excessively old and burnt. Straight in the bin!! Waste of money and not worth going back there, EVER!!

Genuinely a very clean and tidy shop, the chips they have is banging! Served by the young man at the tills!

Popped in here for supper while working in the area, had a sit down meal of large cod and chips with garden peas, and it must be said that it was great 👌

We ordered 2 small cod and chips takeaway and wow it was really nice although they say small fish and small chips they were very generous portions . The chips were nicely cooked and the fish loverly white big flakes and a tasty batter Also very friendly staff . A few weeks ago I took my elderly mum for a sit down meal she ordered Rock and chips which looked amazing and she eat almost everything which she never does . Thanks too all I think we will be seeing a lot more of the Regal fish and chips

Was rotten the fish was obviously cooked lunchtime we got it a 7.30pm grey fish 12 pounds in the bin. Never go there agaim

Honest, reasonably-priced food. The batter needs a bit of work so as to be light and fluffy. Big portions and nice chips.

Excellent fish n chips, chips are very tasty and the batter for fish is not too heavy. You cannot go wrong with this pla(i)ce. Also scampi is above average, proper fish pieces

Dined in before going cinema. Good food & a decent cup of tea. Piping hot. Polite service. Had battered sausage & chips. Best chips I've had in a while. I live in London and really struggle to get decent chips at times. Will try the haddock another time when I'm more hungry.

The staff were forthcoming and advised the dining menu was different price to takeaway which was helpful. Small cod was very nice, half chicken was moist & cooked well, chips were a decent portion, chunky and tasty. Would definitely go back. Only downside no hand sanitiser as you go in. Option of free squirty ketchup a plus.

Went into this fantastic shop for a bite to eat and found it to be the best food I have had. The chips were perfect and totally fresh so was all the other stuff we ordered. This shop is top class visit it have a meal inside and make your own kind up.Thank you gentleman and young lady for perfect food and service see you again soon.

Nobody does grilled fish…. They do the grilled sea bass is fabulous, I ignored the bad reviews and super fussy with food. Next time I’ll provide a photo perfectly cooked 👍

Great grilled sea bream !!! Where can you buy nice fish that’s isn’t battered to (you know what) I’m a fabulous cook & it beats mine…, you get those charcoal flavours…. I give this a reccy but the staff could to eith cheering up & their card machine working (convenient this lol)

Fish tasted disgusting, was definatly not cooked, should be light and fluffy, never have i had a fish like this before will not be going back and.. Cop chips and a coke almost £11.00

Food good , took grandson first time he enjoyed the fish for kids size .... lovely greek salad , take out stones in black olives damaged my tooth

The food was really nice, the ool was quite fresh which made the taste of the fish even better. The service was okay and very quick. The staff were polite and welcoming. The place was nice and clean and the atmosphere was very chill. I will recommend coming here for a good meal 😇

Worst food ever! The curry sauce is tasteless dish water. Sausages so dry i wouldnt even feed them to my dog and the chips were under cooked and disgusting. Will not be going there a second time and overpriced!

I don't know what it is with all the negative reviews with this place sometimes but I have to say this place is absolutely amazing I love it should take they have here can be quite expensive but is definitely worth a price definitely I agree with that and it's absolutely fantastic and you had fish and chips which I had the other week fantastic and I take out and everything that bad and it's like this really lovely Paterson sky get your fish and chips and you know stuff like that and a lot of people in here and you know and stuff like that and it's not a big atmosphere place like it's been there for a while I think everyone have loved it anyway but it is quite good

Ordered a large chips, ate about 10 of them, worst chips I’ve ever had, was chewy and tasted like they’d been sat there for hours!

Literally the worst fish and chips iv ever had. Chips were like chewy cardboard and the fish stunk and was inedible. Coated in batter that looked crispy but was soggy.

Everytime I get food from here it’s always over cooked or tastes like it’s been sat there for hours, everytime I get curry sauce from there it’s as runny as water so just gone straight down the sink without any struggle since it’s basically water, complained before but still no improvement and still wasting people’s money on this food the amount of times I’ve got it home and binned it is a joke

Visited today to get some takeaway fish and chips. The chips were not fresh and fish was dry and tasteless, which surprised me because everyone says they ate the best in town. £18 for 2 of us too which I wouldnt mind paying if it was decent but I wasnt. I wouldn't go back again

I was hungry and in Welwyn Garden City so I decided to visit Regal Fish & Chips for something to eat. It is very close to the Howard Centre and the bus station which is really handy if you are in the town centre. I had Chicken & Mushroom Pie with chips and it was reasonably priced. I received a friendly greeting and the staff were very professional. Please note, if you are making a payment less than £5 it is cash only.

4 burger meals for £20. That's my family dinner sorted and with the current pandemic accepting cash as payment aswell as card

Very nice restaurant for fish dishes. You should try fish dishes for sure when you visit this restaurant. Staff is very cordial. I have ordered for fish Cod, it was very delicious.

Very good place for Fish &Chips in Center of Welwyn Garden City. Parking available, nice staff, sits, near Galeria, John Lewis nad Waitrose. I like it.

Chips were undercooked. Chicken and Mushroom pie had a crust like concrete. Very disappointed at nearly £16. Won't go there again.

Just phone and order a large haddock and chips and call in within 15 minutes to eat in or take away. The fish is fresh! I know being used to that in the Scottish east coast fishing villages.

Not the best, or the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Service a bit slow. Smaller than average portion of fish. Quite expensive for what you get.

I wish I had a photo but sadly we devoured the lot rather too quickly! It was absolutely delicious! I’ve been to every fish and chip in the area and this is the absolute best! Enjoyed a nice glass of wine while waiting for our takeaway. Wonderful service, really friendly! Comfortable and relaxing! Can’t wait to return!

Wouldn’t recommend Regals Fish and Chips in the town centre at all. Was going to go for lunch with my friend, who had her toddler and her baby who was in a pushchair, to be told by the waitress we couldn’t stay because of the pushchair blocking and that “it was a Friday”. So insinuating it was very busy...the place was empty and tables available all over. Very unwelcoming for paying customers. Felt sorry for my friend especially if she had gone alone. Also, would they have a similar issue for someone in a wheelchair? Definately wont be going back.

Had takeaway from here for the first time last night. Large and small cod were really dry, couldn't finish them, and chips were undercooked and soggy. Battered sausage OK, to be fair, and pleasant service.

Cod beautifully cooked, moist, chunky and lightly battered was hot, and tasty. Chips crisp chunky and dry. Slice of lemon, buttered roll. Perfect after work dinner. And yet... This place is licenced, so Spanish white was the perfect accompaniment. All for £15. Excellent

I visited the Regal Fish and Chip shop (formerly known as the Classic Fish and Chip shop) yesterday. The shop is opposite Debenhams.I had cod and chips, my friend had skate and chips. I also had a glass of house white wine.My cod and chips were the best I have had for many years; a large chunky piece of cod, superbly cooked with good chips too! My friend had skate (yes, skate, which we have not been able to buy for some time). Her skate had plenty of fish on it and it was an enormous piece. The glass of wine was delicious and made a perfect finish to the meal. Both meals were at a special price for OAPs.I cannot rate this fish restaurant highly enough. When I next visit WGC I will make straight for the restaurant for lunch. Many thanks too, to the cheerul and helpful staff.It has been a pleasure to write this review!
