Food was amazing. The staff were very welcoming and I had the nicest steak I’ve had in a very long time and that tops Michael Deane’s meat locker in Belfast. Medium rare was melt in my mouth. Top class! Thank you. :)

Having visited this hidden gem once over the Christmas period and again a few weeks ago. Both times I had a wonderful culinary experience, with excellent staff that ensure you have a enjoyable dining experience and that any request is no trouble. The excellent menu, on the latest occasion all courses served to a party of seven ranging from 12 to 83 years of age all praised the excellent and delicious food. Thank you Red Pepper

I took my mother and father who visited from England on Saturday night - i live in sion Mills - I’ve eaten here before and this evening was absolutely super - the meal was top drawer - fantastic fillet steak - beautiful desserts - This place and it’s staff chef and brigade is GOOD with a capital G RECOMMEND Keep it up Chef You deserve all the success you achieve !

The Red Pepper served us great food and decent wine with charm and style. The place was recommended but still surprised and pleased us with its excellent quality. Cheerful, attentive and very friendly service, too. As an other reviewer has noted, it's an absolute gem. This place is well worth the trip to Castlederg if you're anywhere nearby - it's worth going out your way for - very highly recommended.

The Red Pepper is an absolute gem. It gets a resounding 10/10. Service was great, Staff were friendly and professional. Food was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. I would be critical and choosey, and I would without doubt choose the Red Pepper.

During this awful time were all having I decided to order a meal from one of our favourite restaurants i would advise against this unless your local food was cold and steak in steak sandwich was minimal garlic side was badly burnt i would say sit in or not bother hopefully we can sit in soon

When in Castlederg (or nearby) it’s worth a visit. Very good food and service. We ordered a salmon dish and a steak and both tasted wonderful. Quite a gem in Castlederg.

Booked without planning and what a super surprise. Amazing quality of food the pork belly was a star but confit of duckmleg samosa also sublime. Wonderful meal would do it again.

Went for a family meal early on Saturday evening. Opted for the 2 dishes for £14.95 menu. Was dismayed to see that around 60 to 70% of the options on the menu had a supplementary charge, even starters! The £14.95 price is a misleading gimmick. When my son was ordering his main course, he was informed that it didn't include gravy and was asked if he would like some, little did we realise, until the bill arrived, that we were charged £3 for the pleasure. We then found a rather large strand of hair in one of the side dishes. They did give a free dessert, for the inconvenience. In the end, all the supplementary charges amounted to a third of the overall price of the meal. Felt like being back on a Ryan Air plane again. Will not be in a rush back.

Had the fish of the day dish at the red pepper. I’ve eaten in some superb fish restaurants in Europe and I have to say that this dish would hold its own in many Michelin star establishments.Simply sublime and perfection throughout.Good service, staff attentive, nice surroundings and we will defiantly return.Five stars + from us. Well done red pepper.

The atmosphere was comfortable and not too busy even on a Friday night. The food is prepared to order and to a great standard, and they're able to cater for trickier dietary requirements (my partner is allergic to gluten and dairy). The service was also great, very friendly and they were happy to talk to tourists about the local area. Highly recommend a visit!

Staff very friendly and attentive. As a vegetarian I felt the choice was limited. However, the food was well presented and tasty. We would definitely go back.

Arrived here for a christening with a group of my family, was greeted nicely by a young man on the bar who was pleasent.We were delayed in getting seated of our own accord but once seated we got the menus of the waitress. I personally asked what the vegetarian option was and the waitress almost seemed a little cheeky in her response but i let it slide. Once she came back the only option was Veg sit fry with noodles (hoe inventive). Anywere we went ahead and everyone ordered, we got nice goats cheese fritters for starter which was lovely and everyone else enjoyed their starter.Then the mains came out which i ordered the beef which once out was nice but my partners vegetarian option was something else tho. I dont understand why they went ot the effort of putting out an excellent starter then through in out cooked veg, noddles with an overkill of sweet chilli sauce.The amount of quality food we have today for vegetarians and even vegans is fantastic and surely more can be down than a 2 minute noodle stir fry. Anyway we all finished our mains and got desert which was very good. Overall it was a family occasion but i wouldn't be pushed on going back unless it improved on the food abit.Sorry if it sounds a bit unfair guys but so many place around Ireland now are upping their game its the simplest of ways with food and customer service and its good to get fedback

Called here on our first night in Castlederg - so impressed by the food, service and atmosphere that we were back 2 days later. The whole experience was amazing and excellent value for money

I'm usually a bit anxious going out for my Valentines birthday and having a set menu but no more as the red pepper proved an old cynic wrong! A beautiful menu with plenty of diversity. Enjoyed perfectly cooked squid and steak in a lovely informal, ambient atmosphere. Enjoyed a delicious cocktail from the bar whike we waited. Definitely will be back. Excellent quality food and v reasonably priced!

Family meal last night.Not a large menu,but it's quality not quantity in this wee gem in Castlederg.All the food is presented to a very high standard without being over the top.The use of local ingredients tells you this is a restaurant in tune with the community and local suppliers.I had the sausage roll starter filled with pulled pork shoulder and served with a fresh ketchup,the portion would have done me for a main course.I had the venison,med-rare with beetroot puree and gratin potatoes,a side of chunky chips and I just had enough room to squeeze in a lemon posset as a dessert.The service was polite,although a smile or two would have helped,but I can't fault the service,it was what I would expect at this level of dining.The pricing was fair,a bit dearer than most surrounding establishments but the quality stands out.If you're within 50 miles of this place,make the effort to visit,you won't be let down.I've dined there for the last 4 years and the standard is consistent,always the sign that they've got it right.

We have ate here on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed- it’s top class Our most recent visit was for their Christmas night last week where Santa visited the kids- a great evening and as usual the food was excellent.The place is always spotless and staff are very friendly. Visited for an evening meal, very high customer service, waiters were brilliant. Lovely decor and good meal.

I arrived at the restaurant at 6.35 on a Friday. I had no reservation and requested a table for one. I was shown to a table and given ‘Early Bird’ menu. I ordered a starter and main. Service was quick and food was good. At 7.35 the waitress removed my empty plate. Instead of the expected ‘would you like to see the desert menu, or maybe a tea or coffee’ I was ordered to ‘ finish up your drink quickly, we need the table’! I was shocked at the rude attitude and continued with my drink. 10 minutes later, I was told to take my drink to the bar and pay the bill there. When I first asked for a table I was not informed that I had an hour to complete my meal! When I complained I was told ‘I’m sorry you feel that way’. That is NOT an apology! I left feeling that the staff attitude was to get as many customers through as quickly as possible, and that now I’ve paid my money, they just wanted rid of me so they could rake more money in!

Had a bit of time to kill so I decided to call in for dinner around 2pm on a Friday.

This restaurant is our local have been here loads of times the staff can't help enough amazing girls and fellas one especially Caroline she goes over and beyond her duties and Shauna the management are really great Annemarie is so friendly love coming here

They cannot cater for large parties clearly. Staff need trained up, very young and seemed to have little experience which was a bit annoying One staff member told us they didnt do a certain type of food then another said they did? No consistency? Everyome...

My mum, myself and my 2 children went to this restaurant midweek. We had not booked but the restaurant was not full. Unfortunately the woman who "greeted" us was probably the most unfriendly member of the hospitality service i have ever met. She was so unwelcoming and dismissive. We were made to feel completely uncomfortable. She was so rude we actually left.

Booked for 4 people for 6-30pm. We got the early bird menu £13-50 for two courses. So much to choose. I had pulled pork sausage roll for starter and venison for my main. Soooo good. Staff were friendly professional and very polite. Access from the Main Street was level with no steps. All four meals were off high quality produce. I will definitely be back.

I have waited 24 hours to write this review so that I would not be overly critical.But this has not helped.(I have had to dash to the loo 3 times!!) We were invited by friends to dinner on Saturday 24th March. The restaurant was buzzing and most of the tables were filled. A good sign surely.

my son and I visited the red pepper on Monday to mark my 50th birthday. We had great food I opted for the pate followed by venison my son had soup and chicken there is something for all tastes and desert was amazing chocolate delice and chocolate brownie all accompanied by a warm friendly service. see you again soon

The towns we passed from Donegal to Castelderg didn’t even have a coffee shop open after 4pm (its off season right now) We were wondering if we would even get anything to eat in Castelderg - our halt for the night.

Food was good and service was excellent but all the hot courses were served on freezing plates as result food was cold when mentioned to waitress looked at me as though I came from another world seems a shame to spoil good food for such an elementary fault I have to say the chef owner was not in attendance that evening

My family and I took a chance on Red Pepper following the great reviews here on Trip Advisor and it was very close to our accommodation. The place was buzzing on a Saturday night and the menu looked lovely with some very creative dishes so we were happy to be seated relatively quickly.

Went to Red Pepper when my daughter was home for a visit - family of four. We were slightly late arriving although by the look of it we were not on the reservation list - ushered to sit in the reception area and given menus. Perhaps waitress could have offered us a drink at this stage and it would also give staff more time to deal with others.

There is much to like ,well prepared food which is charmingly served in an OK setting. That is the good news and initially the price for the two course menu (£12.50) looks exceptional ;the difficulties come in the detail as nearly everything other than burger and chicken dishes comes with a supplement of £4 or more.This would be acceptable ,if annoying as I would prefer a higher basic to include more dishes, but the real surprise comes with the portion size. I do not want or expect NI's usual stack it high keep it cheap and serve but neither do I want the gesture portions served here.

I came here for my 30th birthday with two young children and husband. We all absolutely loved our food from beginning to end. We could barely move after such a good feed! Good and attentive staff, good value and delicious hot food. We also felt comfortable with the way they addressed my sons food allergies. I can't wait to come back. I actually went into labour when I got home so I'm very impressed haha!

Nine of us celebrated a Birthday last night in the Red Pepper.It was absolutely fabulous.The food was 5 star,one guest said it was better than Browns in Town!!The staff couldnt have been more helpful,they are all so professional.Its lovely to see a nice choice of prosecco served in a restaurant instead of crap.Cant wait to go back.

1st visit to Red Pepper and OMG what a treat!Would highly recommend everything about this place, food, drink, service and staff were all 100%!The wait for the food is a bit long but when it comes to the table it is well worth it! Everything is so tasty, fresh and cooked to perfection with so much flavour with every mouthful! Thank you and we will definitely be seeing you very soon!

Party of 9 went to Red Pepper last Thursday for lunch. It was a special birthday for a family member. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent. Great service and presentation. We all had main courses and desserts. Very reasonably priced for such a high standard of food. The staff were great nothing was too much bother.

I went here for lunch with friends. The restaurant was not that busy however we had to wait a good 20mins for our order to be taken. They got our drinks order mixed up and were less than pleasant when i asked for my drink. When the food arrived it was absolutely delicious however it again took ages for our plates to be cleared. Once cleared we waited again for someone to come and take our dessert order...well we eventually gave up. The desserts looked amazing but it was not worth waiting ages for. This place has lovely food but the service is so poor it just ruins it.

I visited the Red Pepper tonight to celebrate two birthdays but left feeling deflated. There was a problem with one of the guests starters and he was then made to wait until everyone else had finished before he received his. There was a problem with a steak main course as it was ordered medium rare but came out well done. The majority of the steak was left on the plate and when this was explained to the server we were told that 'It should have been said earlier' the 5 pound supplement charge for the steak was still charged at the end which I felt was unfair. There was a problem at the end of the meal when it came to paying as we were told that it was not the restaurants policy to split bills. As a group of 10 comprising of different families, we had no choice but to stand at the till adding our own bills on phone calculators which was highly embarrassing. Overall we were really disappointed with both the food and the attitude of the staff towards us. We will not be returning in future.

Had a booking on Saturday for 9..bit had to wait at the bar for 50 minutes to get our table. Because the restaurant was jammed we had to grin and bear it.Having a large meal after ten wasn't for us and we just had a main course. ..I had the lamb (nicely cooked but small portion) which was served with some type of herb and compressed pulled lamb roll which was heavy and not appetising. My partner had the pasta and a salad which was really enjoyable. Staff were excellent.More competition in the town may result in shorter wait times.

We visited the Red Pepper as a party of six. We had a good night. The food was good but from the reviews I had read I was expecting slightly better. It was a busy Saturday night and service wasn't great. Would I recommend it - yes. Would I go back - yes.

I have dined in RP several times, usually at the suggestion of someone else in the party, as it would not be my first choice of venue. Décor lovely. Staff always very friendly. Maybe not all fully trained. Very expensive unless you go mid-week. They tend to over-book so you have long waits. Menu not bad. Food well presented but I find the food average rather than something I remember favourably for days after. Overall I think the RP is over-rated. Maybe set their sights too high?

Enjoyed another delicious meal in Red Pepper last night. Fabulous menu and food presentation is excellent. Tried the quail starter which was well seasoned and moist followed by some delicious salmon. Would recommend the Bees Knees gin Love the bustling feel of the restaurant.

Have to commend this eatery given its location in a provincial town. Super menu, excellent food and pleasent and friendly staff. Excellent value as well. Well worth a visit !

Felt sorry for my brother in law who booked it. the food was great when we finally were sat at a table and it eventually arrived, Giving away bottles of wine doesn't compensate for overbooking.

I recently stopped here and found redpepper to be good value. Our 2 starters 2 mains and 2 drinks came to something around £35.My rump beef was lovely cooked and the tobacco onions weren't too strong like some places.Thus restaurant has a lovely lay out and decor also, one of the best in my local area for sure.

Went for a family meal, very busy restaurant with Christmas parties. Food was tasty, good selection on the menu and food quality was good.

Visited here for a family meal and were seated upstairs. The decor is not to my taste. More in line with a tacky hair salon or beauticians with the black, white and neon pink walls with zebra print chair covers, but that is just my opinion. Downstairs is decorated with better taste. But it only got worse. We had been seated for more than 10 minutes and had to ask for a menu. We were then told that everyone at our table had to choose from either the Christmas party menu or the ordinary menu. Not only that, but we weren't told what the soup was.We chose from the ordinary menu and waited another 15 minutes for our order to be taken. I ordered the soup and the majority of the table ordered sirloin or duo of chicken and fillet of beef.A waitress left a small plate of bread for us and we waited, and waited, and waited for our starters. A waitress came to clear our side plates and we had to tell her we were still waiting for our starters. Five minutes later we got our starters. Those that had soup got various amounts. I felt it tasted burnt some how.Again, we waited some time for our plates to be cleared and more for our main course.All of our steaks were not cooked as ordered. I asked for medium, but got very well done. One member of the party was pregnant and made it clear that her steak needed to be well done. It came medium.We tried to get the attention of the staff but it was too difficult. We had also ordered sides which didn't come, and requested these again.We received the wrong sides and asked again.The steak was replaced, but was medium again.I requested plain, vanilla ice cream, but as it was not on the menu, I could not order it (a bit ridiculous). So I was offered a kids ice cream, which I ordered. Not what I got. Two tiny scoops of ice cream. One strawberry and one vanilla but they were covered in sauces so I did not eat them.Not once were we asked if we were enjoying our meal, offered any drinks except at the start and after we finished the main course. Any empty bottles were left on the table when we left. Not cleared throughout our sitting.Granted it was busy, but if the restaurant is not able to handle busy periods, they should bring in extra staff or limit the number of tables per sitting, just so every customer has an enjoyable meal. As for the food itself, the order was taken incorrectly, there was a miscommunication between the order being given to the kitchen, or the kitchen cannot cook as requested.

The two of us visited this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. The restaurant is very modern. The menu has two options: going for a standard two or three course menu with the usual ingredients at an attractive price (£12,50/£15,00) or choosing something more special at a very reasonable extra price. We went for the second option with a scallops starter for both of us followed by venison for one of us and hake for the other. We were impressed by the quality of both starter and mains, well cooked and seasoned. The service is very friendly and we didn't have to wait a long time for our orders, altough it was very busy. There are only standard desserts, and they are ok for the £2,50 they cost.

Just can't get the hype here, been here few times with family but never impressed. In my opinion, limited menu. Thought id try the burger on my last visit, I'm not being nasty, as it's straight forward. It was so dry, the ground beef itself , and so tasteless, very bland to be honest, needs an injection of flavour. However!!!!!!!! The desserts are very very good, and have always been in all my visits. And another thing, a good gin selection with the likes of monkey 47. Being abroad often, I'm glad to see the gin thing finally reaching the shores of Eire..... Grants of Omagh still king....

We were booked in for 8.30 but it was nearly 40 minutes later before we were shown to our seats.Although the nuts that were set out in the waiting area were very tasty and certainly offset the wait.The young barman although pleasant struggled with our drinks order. A pint of coke in these parts is a fairly standard order but I had to tell him exactly how to make(two bottles of coke in a pint glass)After being shown to our table the waiting staff could not have been bettered. They were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I liked the open hatch area were you could clearly see the chef's preparing the food. Their attention to detail was enthralling.The menu itself was on the smaller side but more than extensive for me. The meats might have been slightly on the "well done side," but overall an enjoyable meal. The packed restaurant was testament to what the locals think of the place.Overall, good solid tasty food. With a nice fusion of tastes and great serving staff.

First visit to this restaurant. Went for an evening meal on 21st October in a party of 6. Very nice restaurant and although very busy service was excellent as was the food. Early evening menu excellent value- £11.95 for 2courses and £14.50 for 3 courses!

Visited for my friends birthday. Lovely restaurant, nicely decorated, although a little cramped. Service was good and staff were friendly. Long waiting time on main course. I had a chicken dish which was lovely but dry. Dessert was beautiful - malteaser meringue. Toilets were clean and well maintained. Slightly pricey and small portions but overall very good. Would recommend a visit.

My fiance & I ate here recently to try somewhere different and we had heard lots of good reviews. We weren't disappointed. Glad we booked a table as it was a Friday night and very busy! The staff were very friendly, nice atmosphere. The menu had a great choice & the early bird was excellent value. My fiance had the chicken wings to start then steak baguette/sandwich. I had mushrooms then pan seared chicken in champ with shoe string onions & pepper sauce. Everything was gorgeous, very tasty! We'll be back!!

Real good value meal in The Red pepper last night, staff very attentive and friendly. The menu was good, with a large variety of dishes to choose from. Food was absolutely beautiful, the time to the first course was a little long nothing to complain about and then the rest of the courses flowed well. Early bird menu is very reasonable priced, demonstrating good value for money for both the 2 and 3 course options.The toilets could have been a bit cleaner, there is one shared toilet for all customers and it was a but untidy.Will definitely be back.

Went to Red Pepper last night with the family . Cocktails are beautiful and the food didn't disappoint either .We have been a number of times and the food is always great. We are so lucky to have this great restaurant on our doorstep.

Went with a party of six. Ordered starters and the soup took over 15mins to arrive. Main Courses took another 25 mins to arrive and when they did the quality of the food is not what not what you would expect for the price. The beef Wellington was especially disappointing. Not a fillet of beef as you would expect but rather it consisted of pulled beef and was tasteless. The steak order was requested as medium and was served well done. We did not wait on deserts and won't be back

Our family of 5 had an excellent meal on Friday 2nd September. all of us liked our meals and I had the beef cheek and couldn't praise it highly enough. The kids will near enough do anything to get red peppers' famous malteser meringue dessert - a great bribe :) .The staff are always so pleasant and helpful and we all simply love going there. keep up the great work

Myself and my husband travelled from Irvinestown to The Red Pepper for our anniversary meal on the recommendation of a friend and we weren't disappointed. We had the three course early bird menu and there was lots to choose from. The food was delicious and the the staff were attentive and friendly. We would definitely go back again!

Myself and my wife and a local couple went to Redpepper for a meal recently and I have to say it was great. The staff were very pleasant , polIte and informative. I am gluten free and the server explained to me what I could and couldnt eat. The food was delicious and was great value for money. The location in the square was great and not hard to find. This was our and our friends first time here and we would definately recommend it. For myself being gluten free the menu was really good. Thank you to all the staff at the Red Pepper we will be back. My family and I have eaten here regularly for 3 years and love the food and the friendly service.They can not do enough for you and the open kitchen allows patrons to see what goes on in the kitchen.The food is fine dining and has their version of popular meals.Well worth a visit.

Lovely resturant with friendly staff. The food is fantastic and you don't have to wait very long toget served. Resturant is full every Friday and Saturday so make sure you book a week in advance so as not to be disopointed.

My friend and I had a lovely meal here on Wednesday the 27th July. The food and service was excellent . The pork dish I ordered was not what I expected but was very tasty. The only complaint I can make is with regard to the serving of food on slates. It is unappetising pretentious and possibly unhygienic. Restaurants take note. Please stop

Staying in Castlederg for a few days , we tried this restaurant on the first night and ate there thereafter. The food was excellent as was the presentation and service.I am coeliac and they had a great understanding of what I could eat. They were happy to adapt their menu to suit. The price of £11.95 for two courses of this quality was outstanding. Please try it if you are in the area.

Locale di stile americano con divanetti in un open space. Attesa non gradita di oltre un'ora per poter mangiare anche se c'erano tavoli liberi (forse non riescono a gestire tot tavoli per volta?). Buone comunque le portate e i dessert. Scarsa la scelta di birre.

A quick stop on route to a weekend away. Really good value for money and fantastic service. The food was all home cooked and of a great quality. My husband was beside himself about his burger followed by the homemade jam and coconut sponge! Beautifully presented food, a good variety of snacks and main meals. Definitely worth a stop.

Wasn't expecting much but the food was delicious and excellent value! Very popular with the locals. Service was a little haphazard with multiple servers but prompt and polite.

Had my wife's birthday here. Staff were excellent, table was ready we had a couple more people than planned and this was catered for with no bother. Waiting staff were excellent food was excellent (I had the duck which I asked for rare and it was outstanding) everyone had a really good time and they helped me organise a cake. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Heard so many positive reviews about this restaurant, couldn't wait to dine here, however I was disappointed on my visit.All members of our family chose the two course menu option. Food was excellent, however we waited and waited and waited for all the courses to be delivered.The two waitresses working on the day we called were totally overworked. I know food is probably made to order, but the waiting time actually took the biscuit!!

Myself and my partner visited this place in may and had heard it was very good, and it was! The presentation of the food was to a high standard and the menu read very well, every dish I read made my mouth water, the food was well seasoned (a little too salty for me but still very tasty), service was very good all staff we friendly and made you feel very welcome, would defiantly recomend this place.

I have recently visited the red pepper and had a wonderful experience from the word go.Upon arrival we were greeted by delightful staff who were more than helpful. We had a three course meal and everything was sheer perfection from beautiful steak to malteser meringue. Can't wait to go back in the future and would recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful meal and relaxed atmosphere.

Visited twice, Saturday lunch we both enjoyed veg soup/wheaten bread. Portions not huge, but enough. Returned onSunday evening for starters and mains. All four dishes were well prepared and service was prompt. Only complaint was twice ordered Corona bottled beer without the lime wedge and both times served with lime inserted in the bottle, small niggle I know but shows a lack of interest from the waiting staff. Lovely lunch in pleasant surroundings. Our friends were very impressed.Not much else to say so 100 words not really necessary.

I just have to write to encourage others to try out this restaurant. We had the early bird menu, 3 courses for £13.50 & if I'm honest wasn't expecting much for this price. Boy we were wrong! Great menu with lots of choice, ample portion sizes (side included). Go here if you're sick of the plain old peppered chicken or steak and chips, and try something a little out of your comfort zone, you'll love it! Not a long wait and food was piping hot.Great service, although there was a mix up with my main course order, this was as much my fault as the server, neither of us clarified which of the pork dishes I wanted. This was fixed promptly and without fuss.Lovely friendly young men on the bar who were very chatty to us and seemed like the kind of people you would hire yourself, personable and bright.1 suggestion though.......draught Guinness! If you had it I guarantee my husband would be insisting we go more often!
