I wish the food could be consistently good. We have tried this pub food a few times to give it a chance. Sometimes the food is good and more times it is not good at all.

Waited ages for main course of fish and chips and not great when it came Update reply to Owner It was end of April Early May on a warm Sunday Pub was not busy and it was easy to park We sat in the garden area and had a starter each which came fairly quickly but then nothing for around 25 mins I mention to waitress as to its coming and after about another 10 mins it arrived but the fish was very grey and the chips quite white and all a bit tastless and as such i didn't eat to much of it Thank you for asking me for more info and I am sorry for the low review but I hope you take it in the spirit given This was our first visit here and the pub itself was nice and parking was good and I don't rule out us coming again

Lovely welcoming pub, good atmosphere with excellent beer. Definitely coming back early enough for food next time. A real find.

Had a special birthday dinner with my 100 year old mother in law and my wife her daughter and totally totally enjoyed everything about this restaurant .

Haven't been for years. Very impressed with food and cleanliness. Pleasant atmosphere.

Had a wonderful meal here on bank holiday Monday, the serving staff and kitchen were very helpful with the groups allergies, 3 fussy eater kids and a couple of adults with allergies for most things between them. I can't praise the team enough for their patience. The food was really nice well prepared and good portion sizes, desserts were enjoyed by all.

Just popped in for a spot of lunch and have to say it was an excellent experience, the food was tip top. The two ladies that were serving were very attentive and welcoming, both of them have brilliant interactive skills and good humour. Would definitely go back again and thoroughly recommend it to others. Just been told apparently we are going back for a Sunday roast so looking forward to that... hope the same two ladies are on that day 👍👍

Very good varied menu. Food was well presented and the staff pleasant and helpful

I was part of a large group that had 5 different meals between us. My steak and ale pie was disappointing - too gristly - but everyone else was very pleased with what they had. The ales were very well kept and the service was excellent. We will return for sure.

Always had great meals and service here, but a little disappointed last Saturday. Appreciate they were busy being Christmas but to get our order wrong on the starters was a bit disappointing as we booked ans gave choices weeks ago. Food was very good as always.

Best chips - not kidding. A kind between service offering from the barmaid. We enjoyed the place, the service and the large apple tree outside. Just slightly bemused by the terrible contemporary pop on the sound system.

Celebrated my birthday here. The staff were lovely and had decorated a corner of the pub for us. They even sang Happy Birthday!! The food was fabulous, the atmosphere wonderful, a great place to catch up with old friends. A massive thank you to the lovely lady who served us. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed. We ordered food from the Specials list Fish Gratin, Slow Cooked Pork Belly, Salt and Pepper Squid, Home Made Mushroom Bourgigon on Toast and a Chicken Special and we all loved the food ❤️

I did not like the way the new land lord embarrassed two young waitresses in front of us standing at the bar, they are young and don't deserve a big guy to stand over them with and say what he did publicly. Just my opinion and he may have had a point but they are young and there is a better way of communicating. On every visit since the experience has been great, I would definitely recommend The Red Lion and since talking with the landlord the issue was a one off where previous staff problems had come to a head on that occasion.

Just had lunch in the red lion , Excellent food and service, try the lamb kofta and pork belly dish, you won't be disappointed.

Visited The Red Lion this lunchtime and what a great find. We had the menu for older folk, over 65, and couldn't fault the choices or the meals, good value delicious food. Lovely pub with friendly helpful staff we will be returning

Nice selection of beers! Great, they now have Guinness on tap! Haven't been here at meal times. Traditional atmosphere, clean and plenty of space. Always friendly service!

Husband spent 20 mins alone at the bar while staff sorted gas out. Once sorted staff totally ignored him and started doing other jobs. No beer no service. Different members of staff tried to make it up to us but when you're 6'4" and are ignored for 20 mins it's hard to want to stay..

Loved this venue. Food was very good especially the cauliflour cheese. We had the hog roast. So good. The service was great and the staff were lovely and helpful. Good place for a Sunday roast and a chill. They have a play area for children too, which is just great for parents with small children.

Cycled past here. Stopped for Pork Belly with hedgehog potatos and tenderstem brocoli - absolute belter. Followed by rhubard crumble and custard. Really top quality home made food. Garden a little scruffy - but belied the quality of food and beer. Great atmospher in the pub. It was happy hour. Lots of local work guys in there. Like a proper old pub.

We visited the Red Lion on a Wednesdsy and were not disappointed. I had a special, the sea bass on a bed of crushed new potatoes with a delicious green pesto and green beans topped with fresh pea shoots. It was really delicious and so fresh. My stepdaughter had the burger with fries and coleslaw and it was a huge portion. My partner had the luxury veggie burger which he also said was really good.

Hubby & I, and our Golden Retriever, were made to feel very welcome when we arrived for lunch. Very relaxed feel to the pub. Nicely made fresh sandwiches. We look forward to visiting again for a Sunday roast or evening meal.

Fantastic meal for 11 for husband's 60th. The Red Lion put up decorations with balloons and banners themselves - amazing place, meal and service! Would certainly recommed.

Gorgeous Sunday Roast, probably best I've ever had!

Was out in the area checking out the old railway line and seeing what we could actually get onto and walk. Have found far more than we had hoped to. Having the pub open when we checked it out on our return was a wonderful bonus. Will certainly be returning to this on another occasion as the menu looks wonderful!!❤❤
