Owners were very accommodating and friendly, especially with a large group. Curry night was great. Would love to go back again and highly recommend.

The Red Lion in Cyffylliog does the most amazing authentic curries. The welcome from the owners and staff are always friendly and polite. Highly recommend the pubs own named beer.

The curries are amazing. Really glad I dropped into the Red Lion spontaneously. I will definitely come back again soon.

Came here to this delightful cosy country pub for the curry night - 2 of us had the curries on offer, I had the fish pie. Excellent food, beautifully presented, good portions and extremely tasty. Very good value as well. The fish pie was one of the best I have ever had. Very much worth a visit. Very friendly hosts and staff.

The best curry ever. I like spicy so went for Lamb Balti and it was gorgeous and so flavoursome. My mother (pictured) likes a lot less spice so she tried the Butter Chicken. She was equally impressed. We were informed the do a Curry Nite which is on a Thursday where you get curry and a pint for a real great price! If you want an authentic , fabulous curry, you know where to come. I am known as a very hard to impress diner but impressed I definitely was!

50 + people turned out for a Carol service outside the Red Lion Pub. Some fine voices and the children held competitions for best card and Xmas tree. Mince pies red wine and great company. Major, Nita and family well done. Merry Christmas

Decided to go here as on holiday with a dog & knew dogs were welcome. So glad we did. The curry’s we all had were delicious, my chicken jalfrazi was nicer than any I’ve had in Indian restaurant’s. Lovely customer service from friendly staff. Would 100% recommend. Thanks to all at the Red Lion

Great little pub in a small village. Food is amazing and owners are friendly and welcoming. They can't do enough, we took the dog with us which was handy, he was allowed in designated areas. Beer was fresh and atmosphere is beautiful.

My wife and I went along for an Indian Jubilee Tea. It was lovely. Loads of little Indian savouries, potato cake, pakora, samosa. All delicious and hot and topped off with Indian Sweets and a scone. Great couple running the place, lovely hospitality and great value

Came across this pub whilst staying near by... Great, small local pub. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely recommend to others and would visit again if passing in the future.

Back again with friends this weekend and just wanted to say how great this place is! Curries are incredible, and the Guinness is one of the best I’ve had (“Guinness approved” - well deserved!). Nim, Pam and all the locals are incredibly welcoming and I can’t wait to return.

We had an early dinner at Kings Loin on 18/9. The food was delicious and we will certainly be back. Great selection of curries and pub food. Generous portions and very friendly owners Pam and Nim. Indoor and outdoor tables, good selection of beers.

What an incredible find! We stayed at Cartref Cottage next door and had the delightful pleasure of being able to enjoy the charm of the Red Lion. It is such a cosy and welcoming pub with superb local beers and an extensive range of other drinks. Nim & Prem are super hosts. They serve great food - including home cooked Indian dishes & a Punjabi breakfast - and they are often fully booked at the weekend. We look forward to returning on our next vist

Wow, this little gem of a pub is brilliant. Whilst my wife had a delicious fish and chips I had a lovely curry. Home cooked with naan and rice. As good as any Indian Restaurant . Landlord and locals were really welcoming. Make the trip it really is worth it.

Curry night is great with authentic India cooked curries which come with naan and rice. I really enjoyed the pork saag. Service is excellent and the landlord keeps a good pint of beer. Highly recommended

A curry that remined me of a rather fantastic side stree resturant in Gurgaon, Delhi. Not the high sugar, high fat curry from a take away, but the real deal. Very enjoyable.

a hidden gem. off the beaten track but definitely worth the visit. Service is friendly and quick. Bar is well stocked with gins and whisky plus anything else you would need. Our boys had the adult menu and for a change were beaten by it....

Another great Gin Tasting at The Red Lion last night. Nim played an absolute blinder with this selection of 5 gins, it was difficult to decide which one I liked best. As always the food was great too.

I visit this pub on every trip to Clocaenog, it has a great atmosphere and the curries are the best in the world! highly recommended!

Hace poco nos hemos mudado a la zona y estamos encantados de tener este lugar genial a corta distancia. Ya hemos tomado un número de familiares y amigos allí y todo el mundo le encanta el delicioso curry preparado (bien presentados con panes Nan, poppadums, arroz) y observaciones sobre la amable acogida que siempre recibe. No estoy seguro de estos curris podría ser mejor. Altamente recomendado.

Viajamos alrededor de treinta millas por la fuerza de críticas que habíamos leído. El propietario nos dio una cálida bienvenida y lo instaló en un rincón del pub que tenía tres mesas y un quemador de madera. Había otras mesas a lo largo hacia el bar; el bar tenía más mesas y una mesa de billar. La comida se sirve de 18:00 horas y nos rápido lejos de la marca de lugar de nuestra orden como habíamos esperado unas semanas antes pudimos hacer la visita. Cada uno de nosotros pedimos un entrante, un kebab y un samosa. Ambos eran impresionantes, la samosa era sin duda la mejor que he probado. Yo mismo tuve que limitar una media docena de ordenar para llevar a casa! Luego en el evento principal de el cerdo al curry servida con arroz y pan. Disfruté el curry, pero el arroz elevada la comida, este no es el cosas que sirven en su comida para llevar local! La Guinness es una pinta superior a algunos de los otros que me han servido de Guinness, me apenó que había tomado en tan sólo podía conducir los participar de una pinta. Me gustaría volver muy pronto. Si te gusta la buena comida, buena cerveza y un ambiente agradable a visitar.

We hit upon the Red Lion by absolute chance on Sunday lunchtime. We enjoyed the Fantastic Clogwyn Gold beer then thought we would have a sandwich. My husband couldn't believe his luck when there were no sandwichs but spotted the Asian Platter for 2. This was 2 types of fabulous homemade samosas and sheesh kebabs plus spring rolls. All homemade, all fantastically tasty and full of quality ingredients. The dips were fantastic. The waitress was charming. The owners really friendly and the pub itself so well kept and s riot of flowers. Wish I lived in this village! How lucky to have a pub like this to call your local. We will defo return to sample the curry night! My husband is determined to try it!

Try this good local pub. Excellent food at a decent price. You have to try the Indian food platter. All cooked on site and no packet stuff.

We go to the Red Lion for curry night a couple of times a month, and love it. The curries are home cooked and delicious, and the beer excellent. This is a local pub, and a fabulous asset to the village. Highly recommended.

We went on thursday, as it's curry and pint night for £7.99. We have been meaning to go for months but not got round to it- seeing a roadside banner, promising an authentic punjabi curry prompted us to give it a go. This is a lovely friendly pub and the landlord does keep a good cellar, with local beers on offer- the place is very popular, so booking is advisable. It was packed when we turned up, which was a good sign. We had fabulous starters at £2- £2.50 each- a kebab, which was meaty, garlicky and spicy- not brought out of a freezer pack or supermarket and a beautiful, big samosa, obviously hand made and delicious, as was the kebab. Both were served with a salad and the most amazing dip. For the pint and a curry offer, there was vegetable paneer, a chicken curry and pork aloo. We ordered a pint of local Llandyrnog ale, which was outstanding, a chicken curry and pork aloo. The waiting on staff were lovely and friendly. When the food arrived, we were amazed by the flavours- proper spicy curry, not swimming in grease like the Bangladeshi curries. Lots of meat and I have to say they were just gorgeous! They were served with a generous portion of rice and a light fluffy nanbread, which I think was homemade, as it wasn't the usual floppy rubbery specimen you get elsewhere. We will definitely make this a regular pub when we eat out, proper Indian food and also a very good Western menu, including Sunday lunches, which we must try, all reasonably priced. We are very sorry we left it so long to visit- but we will be back to this lovely quaint cosy pub. They are taking bookings for Christmas parties too.

Great little village pub that is obviously at the heart of the community. Well kept beer and good bar menu with authentic Curry night. Friendly service and good cosy atmosphere. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
