Great friendly pub ,expertly managed by Nicola and her staff, great poker nights on Wednesday and Sunday

Went for lunch on Saturday 24th August. We had booked a table for 8 people at 13.30hrs. The food was great as usual no complaints from anyone. We have been regular visitors to the Red Lion since 1999. We have never found anything wrong on our previous regular visits. Sorry to say this time we have to comment .It was Bank holiday weekend there was one very pleasant lady on the bar trying her best to do everything & one lady who it appeared to be her first day so couldn't do anything.Has a result tables were not being cleared glasses not collected. So service was badly let down. Who ever did the rota for that very busy day must be accountable. NOT THE FULL TIME MEMBER OF STAFF SHE WAS TRYING HER VERY BEST. We will be returning in the very near future & hope this was a genuine mistake by management.

Love this place, my family stayed in 2 rooms and absolutely loved it, had dinner that night, very accommodating getting us large table, an food and service was brilliant

Decided to stay at the Red Lion as we were visiting family From start to finish was an absolutely amazing stay !! We were checked in by a young lady called Lydia who was extremely polite and explained everything needed before our stay. Rooms were stunning, clean an well stocked, located at the back of the pub, very cosy. Food was excellent and breakfast was perfect served by Chris a lovely guy who cooked it to perfection. Every staff member was polite We will be back Red Lion thank you

We stayed at the rad lion at the weekend. Room was lovely and clean, attention to detail on all aspects The staff was very attentive throughout our stay from the greeting on arrival to the room fresh up, and a very friendly goodbye Breakfast was outstanding Already booked out return in autumn 10 out of 10 all round 😊

A really friendly pub with plenty of parking space and a well kept outside quiet garden area together with well appointed clean and comfortable rooms. Definitely recommend and would stay again if in the area.

we received a warm welcome at check-in and were helped to our rooms with our lugguage. rooms were clean and bright and very comfortable. Basic but more than adequate. we ate dinner in the restaurant - tasty and so reasonably priced. breakfast in the morning was a perfect start to the day. all of the staff were so friendly and helpful and i will recommend you to my friends if they venture up that way.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It’s kind of a hidden gem to be honest. Everything was perfect, the staff was very nice and helpful. The food at the pub was really good as well. We had great conversations with locals at the pub. 10/10 recommend! Definitely coming back again.

Great hotel and lovely staff. Breakfast was good but every addition or change is quite expensive. Perhaps a bit more leeway would be nice and a more human approach to costing (mushroom, tomato and beans on toast cost the same as a full English).

It’s a very good value accommodation option attached to a nice pub in the village of Parbold. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable

Our families stay here quite regularly, the staff are always welcoming & really friendly. The food is excellent, the rooms are spacious & the beds are comfortable, competitively priced. It's a lovely little village, ideal for us visiting our family in Skelmersdale.

We arrived to meet relatives and enjoyed a pleasant evening with a meal. About ten we retired and went to sleep. Sometime just after midnight we were abruptly awoken by a tremendous crash from the room above. We were in Room 2. We laughed and said "drunk" and expected everything to go quiet but it didn't. The noise not only continiued it got worse. We could only imagine luggage or furniture being thrown at the walls, someone falling in the bathroom. There were raised voices and weeping. It continued for hours and we could do nothing. A CARD IN THE ROOM ADVISING CONTACTING THE TEAM IN AN EMERGENCY HAD NO NUMBER ON IT TO DO SO. I still have the card. We considered calling the police but as there were no sceams, only weeping and raised voices, we did not. Someone was tramping heavily around the room .. In the early hours, toeard four a door slammed very loudly and then it was quieter. As we went to breakfast in the morning a pleasant staff member asked how we had slept. She was perfectly professional and said she would have the mnager speak to us as soon as she came in. This was abot 8:45 am By nine thirty we were toward the end if our breakfast so we asked for the manager but were told she was still in bed. We said we could not wait longer and the girl must get her right then. She did. At first the manager was reluctant to do anything, saying she had no control over guests behaviour and waved aside the card with no contact number with some vague remarks that it ought not to have been in the room and there was a general contact number outside "on the wall" and hadn't we seen that? NO WE HAD NOT! . At 80 years old we certainly would not, dare not, go wandering around trying to find either a number or staff in the night! Eventually the Manager gave us a full refund but we would have been much happier had we been able to get help in the night. The Manager saying "I didn't hear anything" is no excuse! We believe, from overhearing, the people in Room 12 were also complaining. Certainly something was going on. A full refund of the B and B was accepted but we would have been much happier with a good night. This spoilt the end of a short holiday and meeting other relatives on the Sunday was spoilt by our being tired. It is a shame as everything else was lovely! Apart from the Managers initial reluctance to understand our complaint and distress, an attitude she changed after speaking to the guest in the noisy room, we were as satisfied as we could be under the unfortunate circumstances.

When checking in, I was greeted with a warm welcome & a big smile. Check-in was very easy & I was given the key to my room. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately the remote for the TV was missing, which had probably been unknowingly taken by the previous occupant, but this was quickly rectified. The one issue that I had was the toilet lid & seat as they did not push back enough so had to hold them up I did eat at the Red Lion and the food was very good, my only comment would be is that I ordered a medium rare steak and when it came it was well done. The staff did come round and ask how the meal was and they were vey apologetic and offered to re-do the meal but I said it was ok. I will definitely return.

Amazing staff and amazing rooms me and my family stayed there for 1 week and we didn't want to leave the beds where quite comfortable bathrooms where great and plenty of parking spots too and in general the place is amazing

Wow - major upgrade in hospitality since my last visit. Really impressed.

We stayed in the family room again which is lovely. Nice spacious room with a lovely comfy bed. We ate in the pub and I had a gorgeous veggie burger, one of the best I've ever had, thank you! The only negative is that the room was quite cold and the heating wasn't on. We asked 3 times at the bar, but to no avail, no heating at all, the heating stayed off. Which was a shame, it would have been nice to have a cosy room. We even asked for a portable heater but was told that they didn't have any. Maybe next time, it would be a good idea to have a couple of heaters to offer. X

Enjoyable stay friendly staff. Special mention to Yvonne who served us at breakfast in the morning and advised us on different places to go. Nice breakfast and warm clean rooms
