The Thirsty Duck in West Lancashire

Excellent! Stopped here for a drink and a sit down after enjoying the beautiful canal that The Thirsty Duck backs onto. What an amazing place!! The location is beautiful, the staff are friendly, lovely and very helpful and the special selection of beers and larger are so very delicious; I've not had any like them anywhere else. We will definitely be returning to stay longer next time.

Fantastic selection of Belgian beers, nut f you don't fancy them they have real ales too, didn't eat there.

Fantastic beers, ales and spirits, with friendly and welcoming staff aside a lovely canal-side view, it's a highly recommend visit in Burscough and an asset to the Wharf

Great variation of beverages. The place just smells though. Sort that out got a good little gaff. Staff are fabulous.

Great area and a nice bar literally on the canal great service and selection on quality well kept real ales and other beers can see it getting packed during warmer eater and at weekends

The beer is always changing so always worth dropping in to taste the latest ales. Always good quality pints.

Cool bar. Good selection of non alcoholic drinks. It’s a nice seating area outside or on the canal if the weather is nice!

As a non beer drinker the range of ciders on offer was brilliant with a knowledgeable bar tender to offer advice. Will return.

Good selection of beer, even Belgium beer which is difficult to find nowadays. Nice atmosphere to relax in and really good service.

Excellent real/craft ale bar in Burscough.

Called in on my way to watch Bury play Skelmersdale and I’m drinking a classic chocolate Porter as recommended by Alisha and it is absolutely delicious. Luckily I will returning again in a few weeks to watch Bury play Burscough.

Best bar in town. Safe, people and dog friendly. Good beers, and lager. Always someone interesting to talk to. Nice staff, and an easy laid back relationship with bar staff. X

Great little place with top beers, nice to sit out in the courtyard, one really frustrating thing though is the keg beers menu above the bar, take you a while to work out that it is the keg section as it doesn't actually say, and then they don't list which brewery it is, just the beer name, which, if you're like me you can't see them on the pumps at the rear of the bar as they are too far away and tiny writing. Same with the cider menu, on my last visit the girl had to go in the back 3 or 4 times to see the cider maker as it isn't listed, cask is fine as you can see the clips, but not the other stuff. Would be great if you could sort this out as it's really annoying and easily fixed 👌🏻

Great place, come here once or twice a week. Jay, Laura, Rhiannon and Alisha are all great, always look after me. Beer offering is always great.

Our first time in here. It's in an old canal side warehouse that has opened to a good few traders. Lovely inside with a good selection of real ales plus a full bar. Nice young lad serving who knew his beers. Well decorated and comfortable. I'll be back when next in the area.

Had a great evening in the Thirsty Duck last night. The live music was great and the selection of drinks on offer was brilliant. I'd love to visit again.

Had an excellent night for my daughters 18th, also the singer was awesome . Highly recommend a night here . You can order a pizza from purely pizza , and eat it in there aswell

Superb establishment. Jay super knowledgable on all matters craft. Always a friendly welcome and brilliant driver of the summer beer/cider/music festivals. Has really added a spark to the Wharf.

Great pub great selection of beers and a spot on pint. Need to sort the smell from the toilet though could smell it all about pub.

Great pub - a little late to review (sorry!) But I went in just before Christmas and got chatting to the manager about advent beer calendars and how I'd like something similar for new year. The staff then very kindly there and then offered to build me a bespoke box taking into my preferences ( I don't like sours for example) and had it ready for me within an hour and offered to hold it until the next day so i could drive up. It was great at new year trying new beers and fantastic service from all those at the duck. Thanks again - we'll definitely be back!

Best bar in Burscough. Great choice of beers, especially if you like the Belgian beers.

Just don't get a couple of halves of shandy. Charged for half a pint of beer and a shot of lemonade. That's £3.20 for half a shandy, so charged £6.40 for 2 halves... And it's only £3.60 for a pint.. apparently "the manager told me to charge like that". I'm trying to support a local business here so please don't rip me off. BTW, the barman needs teaching how to make a shandy.

Held our end of season presentation at The Thirsty Duck yesterday. Excellently well run by the staff, nothing too much trouble and the service perfect. We will defo be back next time. 👌👌

Great selection of beers, with really knowledgeable bar staff. My wife really appreciated the wine selection (particularly the NZ Sauvignon). After a few beers, moved across to gin. Again, a great choice. Atmosphere was lovely and cosy. Had another great night here. Highly recommend.

Don't listen to Jason. This place is great. Ever changing selection of beers, from real ale on cask to hoppy craft. Nice whisky too! Staff are knowledgeable and attentive.

What a fantastic bar, Burscough is really lucky to have such a welcoming place. Great choice of cask ales with knowledgeable and friendly service. Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed!!

A great little micro bar. Served a good selection of Belgian beers on tap and bottle. Good cask ales and a very knowledgable bar man. Great location by the canal and car park at the rear. Would recommend a visit.

Great little bar with lots of craft beers to choose from and the staff are great. It’s also lovely in summer and a perfect place to stop along the canal

Great place offering a large section of Continental beers and lagers and four or five Real Ales well kept, by welcoming staff. A welcomed addition to the area!

Great beer and range of drinks, also great ambience and service. Has a shared courtyard with plenty of seating that gives it a continental feel.

Great place to visit, especially when the weather is good as the outside seating has a real buzz and great atmosphere. But the inside is equally a great chilling area with views of the beautiful canal. They have some unusual beers/largers. I had Freedom! And hoping for another on 21st June. Its a busy place so service isn't immediate. But I would definitely recommend and I'll be visiting again.
