Really lovely meal - veggie Garden Plot Medley was unusually tasty for a vegetarian dish, and the steak and ale pie and burgers were fresh and well cooked. Service great too, v friendly.

The Red Lion is an excellent pub all round. We discovered it last weekend and went back again today. The food is fantastic at very reasonable prices and the staff are friendly and attentive at all times. We had the steak and ale pie and fish and chips alongside 4 very substantial kids meals and they were all eaten without issue. Thank you for taking the time to say how well behaved and courteous our 4 children were. We will be back again and again.

I feel at home every time I visit here. And today was an even better experience thanks to the outstanding service from everyone in the team. Specially Erin, and Michelle the manager, who made sure that everything was okay during my visit. 😎👍

Wow what a great find. We looked for a pub with an EV charger and stumbled across the Red Lion and we are so glad we did! Friendly service and delicious food. Good portions piping hot and very tasty. Can’t wait to come back thanks.

Yet again another fantastic meal. Because of the gorgeous weather we decided to eat outside and the food and service were still both excellent. We had 2 courses cooked beautifully and the service was without any fault. We have always loved it here and it goes from strength to strength.

Went with friends for fathers day lunch, friendly helpful welcome as we entered. A set menu with a large and varied choice at reasonable prices. Good food and plenty of it. Service was a bit slow to start with getting drinks but very good from then on. Highly recommend, we will go back.

This is one of our locals. we go here as much as possible. food is great, staff are amazing and they are super dog friendly! we bring our exempted bully here all the time and are treated no different which is refreshing. We can even order him sausages from the menu!

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat on Monday at lunchtime, lovely welcome as we walked in. We decided to sit in the garden and take advantage of the lovely weather. Really dog friendly (provided with a bowl of water) & offered dog treats!🦴 Opted for the chicken and bacon ciabatta that included crispy fries. We shared a trio of puds for dessert which was also delicious. Reasonably priced & great service.

Google sent me here to recharge my EV and what a pleasant surprise. The pub is really good, serves Green King IPA (my local brew), really good food, and has 2 x EV charging stations in the car park. I stayed here for drink and a meal in the beer garden while waiting for my car to charge and it was really great. Great atmosphere, really peaceful, I'm back and forwards to Heathrow quite often and saved this place in my my favorites.

We have been coming to the Red lion for many years and have seen it go up and down in food quality and service with different management. We have to say that for the last few years under current management and staffing the food quality has been consistently amazing and service has been so friendly and again consistently excellent. We went for Christmas 2023 and again it was a lovely meal, friendly staff and consistently great! This is our local and we are so pleased to have it on our doorstep! 😃 thank you to all the staff 💫

We go there regularly on Sunday, as our daughter has extra tuition in the morning. We generally have the English Breakfast and a bottle of fizz. What a great Sunday!

The food was good. I had Fish and Chips. There is loads of parking space.

Visited on a Tuesday lunchtime & the restaurant was very busy. Friendly & attentive staff. Fabulous food, I had the duo of chicken in a tasty glaze whilst my husband had the beef & ale pie. 2 lovely pints of cask ale. I would advise pre booking.

Had a delicious meal here tonight. The asian style chicken was lovely and the sundae is fantastic! Also we had really great service from (Jake?) judging by the receipt. He was prompt, friendly and had a laugh with us. What a great asset to the team you have!

The food was fabulous, the service was a little slow but they were busy. A starter was missed, as was a dessert.

Superb staff, superb food, great car park, ... Menu has all sorts on it now, try the Korean chicken, wonderful. Becoming a weekly visit, such great staff and food too. Pies are real too, pastry bottom and top, this is Steak & Ale 😋

Dog-friendly pub with very helpful staff

This is my parent’s local pub, and after coming here with them for a lovely breakfast with Santa, we decided to meet a friend for lunch here today. We visited at lunch time as a party of 6, including 3 very small children. We were made to feel extremely welcome; we were given a table with plenty of room for high chairs and the kids stuff, and at no point did we feel that we were in the way or being rushed (as you often can when you have three babies in a restaurant!). The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was lovely. We will be back again soon!

We had a lovely dinner yesterday evening to celebrate my birthday. It was superb. My husband, who requires a gluten free meal, had the rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. I had the Confit of Duck, which absolutely out of this world. It was very flavoursome and tender. The staff were amazing and extremely helpful and attentive. Especially the young man who waited on us. I can't wait to return.

We had our Xmas dinner at The Red Lion this year and everyone in our family party of 16 was extremely impressed with both the food and the service. The atmosphere was very welcoming as were the staff. I really cannot praise the team highly enough. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Ok, so I am a self-confessed food snob. I'm much happier in a Bob Bob Ricard than in a Chef & Brewer. But, every so often my ever so frugal hubby wants to trade in our Tesco vouchers for a meal deal. So I reluctantly visit Pizza Express's and Chef & Brewers within a 20 mile radius of our home. On this occasion we opted for the Red Lion and my goodness am I so glad we did. Within minutes of being seated our lovely waitress came over to take our drinks order. I had noticed that mine and my hubby's 'specials' menus were different, so wanted to clarify if they had the fillet steak offered on one of the menus. Our waitress quickly checked on her tablet and confirmed they had one fillet steak left, she kindly offered to get the kitchen to reserve it whilst we perused the rest of the menu, which was much appreciated. She returned shortly after with our wine and we ordered the fillet steak and a rib eye steak. The food arrived quickly and was both piping hot and surprisingly high quality and really tasty. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection and cut like butter. A lovely young waiter came to clear our plates soon after we finished and asked if we wished to see a dessert menu, which we happily accepted. Shortly after our delightful waitress returned to check we had been offered dessert also. I had the trio of desserts which were all incredible, my husband loved the chocolate brownie. Our service from start to finish was exceptional with each server taking time have a chat with us and make us laugh. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I'm still going to want to dine at Bob Bon Ricard now and then, but if I ever want a decent meal where I'm treated like a local, I'll definitely choose the Red Lion again.

Really good roast, large portions and very well priced. Service was great too. After visiting a few more times I can say this is one of my favourite pubs to visit, the supervisor Michelle and the team went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great time. I've deleted a previous good review to replace with this one. I attended as part of a party of approx 15 guests. The pub does not have a bill splitting system once a discount is applied to the bill so customers had to individually work out how much they needed to pay. I mistakenly overpaid and requested the difference back, I was told by a young man to go to the till to collect the difference in cash. The elderly lady at the till was very rude and said I'd need to wait until every other guest had paid before I could collect a refund. I explained I was x number of months pregnant and I'd just really wanted to leave at the point as we'd been there for a few hours now, I was again told that I needed to wait until every other of the 15 or so guests had paid. Fortunately one of the other guests stepped in to help me but if it weren't for her, the pub would have made me wait until the last guest had paid to give me a refund. This pub is local to me and previously a lovely place where we've gone a number of other times but I'm less likely to return now given how humiliated I was made to feel. Really saddened by this visit and I really hope that if this lady is ever on the paying side of the till, someone else does not treat her the way she made me feel. A real shame.

Always enjoy visiting. Regular venue for girlie lunch as half way between us both. Nice staff; food & service. Too many years visiting and has never disappointed. Thank you - we'll be back!!

Popped in for a coffee Saturday morning as my car was in the garage, I have to say I received a lovely warm welcome. The music was really mellow and I actually switched off and felt completely relaxed for an entire hour which is really unusual for me. I only had a coffee but I will definitely be back for breakfast as it smelt amazing.

Excellent food. Highly recommend chef's sharing platter. Error with service but it was busy and apology was given. It happens! We will be returning.

We luckily stopped here after picking pumpkins at nearby Copas farm one rainy Sunday. What a find, great reasonably priced food and friendly, helpful staff. We sat in the pub section, better served than in most restaurants! My husband was over the moon with his roast beef on the bone, my son gobbled up his kids meal and my gluten intolerance has never been so well catered for. I was able to pick from three GF beers, had special GF yorkshire puds on my roast plus a delicious GF Bakewell tart with custard to finish. I’m writing this beyond any potential reaction, say no more. Thank you to The Red Lion, we will be back!

An excellent evening spent with my family, the food was first class fresh and hot, our waiter was very well mannered and served us with quiet dignity. All in all a very good evening and we will be going again.

We came without a booking, but offered to sit in the garden where there was lots of space. They offered us a table, but were rude about it. We left given the blunt and unwelcoming reception from the woman who appeared to be in charge. From speaking to some of the locals outside, it appears children aren't welcome here. I'm not sure if that is true, but from the frosty response it's the only possibility I can see. We were very polite and friendly. I guess this pub must be doing well to be happy not to have a table of six. There are lots of great pubs nearby, so I recommend giving this one a miss and support the pubs that need the business.

Got a table straight away, without booking, on a Sunday night. The food was nice and a wide choice. Fully stocked. The service was attentive until the end where it did take quite a while to order dessert and then get the bill. But I understand how it’s hard to attend to everyone when it’s busy. I would recommend this pub :)

Great service as ever. Food amazing. However, this is service like no other! They say it’s little touches that make the difference! Jan always goes well beyond her duty of call but this time she well surpassed herself. My son left an album full of expensive football cards behind on Friday night. When we got back to enquire on Saturday, Jan looked in the usual lost and found but nothing was found. Jan did not stop there, she looked at security cameras and eventually with her good detective hat on, she discovered that the album had accidentally fallen underneath one of the enclosed benches. Well done Jan!

Popped in after working at Pinewood perfect place for some food and refreshments. The pies were where its at.

I recently ate dinner here with friends (8 of us in total.) We had not booked and were not too hopeful given how busy the place looked. However, staff managed to find us a table and we all very much enjoyed our food. My wife and daughter are both coeliacs and we have to be extremely careful with eating out, as even a tiny amount of cross-contamination will make my daughter very sick. She was catered for very carefully, for which we were extremely grateful. Lovely atmosphere, staff were great. We'll be back!!
