Red Lantern in Oadby and Wigston

Ordered on the website on Christmas Eve. Phoned the restaurant (I use this term very loosely!) to add chips to the order. Advised me that they had no record of the order but had already taken the money from my account. Emailed to ask for refund but no joy! Phoned again a couple of days later and said they’d phone me back - but heard a lady in the background who accused me of lying! Needless to say have never received a call back, apology or refund! LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID - BEWARE OF ORDERING ON THEIR WEBSITE - MUST BE MAKING A FORTUNE FROM CUSTOMERS WHO ORDER BUT NEVER GET THEIR FOOD AND ARE STILL CHARGED!

Every time I order from here something is wrong and for some reason I still try and use them however on this occasion it will be my last... food was watery had no meat in it considering it was a house special curry.. when I rang to complain the lady said I’d have to have a free one next time however I’ve just been to cash in and rather than get it delivered I collected to save them any bother... I was then told I’d have to pay for the rice that accompanied my meal.. which I went to pay for but they refused to take my card... I then asked out of interest if they appreciated that I’ve had to go out of my way to collect.. she then shouted at me saying she would of charged me delivery.. I then asked her why she could of rectified the problem that evening or given me a refund as to which she replied not my problem we were closed. Absolute shameful service just eat should be ashamed to have them on there app also

Absolutely fed up of this place now. Awful food AGAIN! Order wrong... AGAIN! The place is also so dirty makes my skin crawl. If I hadn’t of paid before collecting my food I literally wouldn’t have collected it.

Ordered a delivery for New Year’s Eve, accepted through just eat as normal, got my delivery time for 7.30 in the evening , time arrived and waited another 30minutes before calling due to being a busy day , no delivery and unable to contact them . Waited another 20minutes and still no delivery, so got in the car and went down. Only to arrive with 3 or 4 other people experiencing the same issue and they ordered before 6pm and were still waiting. We then all get told that it has not even been started yet . I get a measly £1.20 refund for delivery charge as I collected ! Not happy and will never use them again. Food was eventually received and I sat down with my family at 10 30pm . A full 2 hours later. However, they still were accepting new orders and telling their customers 30minutes delay and then changed their minds after the complaining customers telling them they cannot do that they then said 2 hour delivery . Even their own delivery drivers were getting frustrated as they were being sent out with one meal at a time ! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS to save disappointment.

My daughter ordered us both a takeaway, when we started to eat it, I bit into something, that looked like a nail. We contacted them and they came out and took a photo, no apology, and I’m still waiting for a refund

Ordered delivery at 5.30. Expected delivery time of 1 hour 10 mins. Cancelled it at 8.00. Lady turns up at 8.15!!!! Bless her not her fault and she was shocked I ordered at 5.30. 2 hours and 45 minutes after ordering.....completely ridiculous..!!!!

Well I ordered my dinner on 30th March at 6:15pm and it still has not arrived now 10th April! They have taken my money, set up a recurring transaction authorisation and have never issued a refund. I have even spoke to the Wigston restaurant and they said they would refund me on 30/3. Nothing credited so I have got the bank involved who are looking into fraud. Please be careful ordering online from Red Latern. How many other people are they doing this too?

Absolutely awful food watered down and the chips were cold and hard. When we called up to explain they didn’t seem bothered or offered to replace they said we will tell the chef awful never will be ordering from there again!!

Ordered tonight after work: 1. Fried Wonton- fried empty oily sickly nearly burnt of old oil smell "wontons" 2. Wonton Soup- warm and tasty wontons and soup 3. Prawn Toasts- again used old fishy oil and burnt, inedible and this is my favourite. How can they get this sooo wrong? This is every Chinese take aways' staple! 4. Prawn fried rice- very pale tasteless king prawns and really consistently smelled of old oil! The fried rice was tasteless with overcooked few bits of green peas, and dotted with scrambled eggs that are over cooked with same old oil. Only the wonton soup was edible. They did not give me any utensils or tissue paper. I can not believe this is top 2 take away in this area?? It cost £17 with their 15% promo for first timer! OMG that was an utter RIP-OFF.

Had a meal from there tonight, ordered 4 meals plus extras, waited an hour for delivery and one dish was missing from the order. Obviously we didn't realise until after the driver had left. Rang & told them, 45 minutes later the missing meal arrived, no apology, refund or anything. After ringing again we were told we need to take this up with Just Eat even though we had paid cash to the delivery man from the shop. So annoying, won't be ordering from these again!

Dont bother waited ages for delivery food was cold waste of 23.00 went straight in bin as you cant reheat rice and king prawn ..Avoid

Ordered food delivery last night. Delivery was very fast and food was great. Highly recommended and definitely order again.

Whilst there are several Chinese takeaways in South Wigston, having tried them all we now regularly use Red Lantern. Excellent spring rolls, dishes including the special curry, chow mein, chicken egg fried rice, chicken balls in sweet and sour sauce and Hong Kong style dishes (our usuals) are all very tasty. Reasonably priced. Worth noting that if collecting they don't take card payments.
