Went for Christmas lunch and was absolutely delicious, very reasonable but the cooking of the turkey dinner was excellent, veg was cooked to perfection, everything was super fresh, really enjoyable 👍

Very excellent pub on the Trent & Mersey Canal. Robinsons beer is well kept and always tremendous. The light bites menu is a throwback to better times when a pub could serve food for £6.95 and it was well cooked, well presented and really tasty. Plate of food and a pint for £10. Incredible. The fuller menu is also reasonable with much bigger portions. Warm and inviting on a cold Autumn evening and probably a great place to watch canal life in the garden during the warmer months.

Lovely little pub, that was pretty full on a random Thursday. The lager was excellent and the food from the light bites menu was lovely, although the larger menu did get very a more substantial meal. Outside area to sit and enjoy the weather, if it wasn’t a cold November

Would have been a 2 star, but when I raised a complaint with the owner/manager they were hands down THE rudest person I've dealt with. Would not return, ruined our event, but made 10x worse with the response we got. Embarrassing.

We went for a lovely meal Tuesday night. Very nice atmosphere with 2 very helpful charming staff. We had 2 pints of carling and a pint of madri i had the 8oz rump steak medium rare cooked to perfection with a tasty blue cheese sauce. My partner had a Thai green curry with half rice and half chips that she really enjoyed. At just under £45 it was well worth the price and will look forward to returning.

Come regularly, food and drinks are great. Service can be slow at times but that's based on how busy Red Bull can get at times. Wouldn't stop us from coming back

Lovely Sunday roast, Yorkshire were huge, veg was beautiful, apple pie and custard finished it all off very well, young lady who served us was very nice, goodness me how the place has changed and for the better. We were upstairs as last minute booking. Knocked one star off as a bit quiet upstairs, price of food was very good. Well done

As per usual the food was really good wholesome food and plenty of it. On this occasion I asked the landlord for a take out as I was short on time. His signature dish homemade steak and ale pie was the best I have tasted. And it really is homemade not the small bought in pies. This is a real portioned pie like your mother used to make. I could not finish it all so I had it for lunch the next day. My daughter had her favourite Mac and cheese bites Yummy. Loads of chips and a lovely rustic salad. But unlike some strange reviews regarding the chips were to big. I managed to bite them in half. How clever am I. Thanks Red bull.

We popped in for a meal whilst passing on our boat. The reviews looked good so was hoping for a good meal. My husband and brother in law had the pie they both said it was very good. I went for the chicken Burrito with salad and chips. Unfortunately mine was bland, the chips were very large and tasteless and the salad was very 1970’s. I had to ask for a dressing which made it partially palatable. Not somewhere I would rush back to.

After a day on the Canal- the Red Bull was a welcome relief! Fantastic food, welcoming staff and a great atmosphere. Will definitely stop on the way back before we head through the tunnel.

Fabulous find while out and about. Excellent Sunday dinner like Mom used to make. Huge portion. Proper Yorkshire’s, gravy, fresh veg, & succulent beef. Fab pricing and lovely atmosphere friendly staff nice pub 👌right in the canal side too. Ample beer garden with a view.

Food is always amazing, cooked to perfection by Gary, the steak and Ale pie is to die for. The staff are always pleasant and very helpful.

Dog and family friendly. Really lovely pub. The burrito was so filling and tasty!! Lovely staff. The only thing I'd maybe change is putting a swing set or slide in their pub garden for the little ones but this is a minor thing I'd like to see.

We've not long moved to the area but I've been here loads already. The food is great; what I'd call "proper" hearty pub food - but they're great for interesting veggie and vegan options, too. Great beer, local produce (eggs and jams on sale at the bar!), insanely reasonable prices and really hot on Covid safety measures whilst still being welcoming. Dog friendly and good kids options, I don't know what else we could ask for!

Busy, good atmosphere, sat outside lovely view had a great time

This pub has been done up since I last went and the interior is lovely. Food was quick and exactly as described (scampi and chips) but the service was really poor. We had to stand and wait 15 minutes to pay our bill at the bar and there wasn't many customers in the pub. There was a big pile of dirty glasses at the end of the bar. The person serving was not happy to be there, the phone was ringing and she said 'go away, we're busy' to herself/the bar. Then the bell went for food service and it was ignored. It went again and she said 'yes, we know but it's busy'. She did not treat customers politely or respectfully and I would not go back for this reason alone. When we went to sit in the beer garden, nearly all the tables were covered with dirty glasses and they were not cleared until over an hour later. There was also dirty/empty food plates left on the tables outside. They had no pepsi on draught so we were charged £2.60 each for a can! Another customer asked for a glass of blush and got rudely told there was no blush or rose and then a list of white wine was reeled off to them, not in a pleasant way. Such a shame as it could be a lovely pub.

Although it was for a funeral that we went to, we will definitely go again. Staff were great, polite, and very aware of keeping the tables clear. I'd never been before but instantly liked it. Food was 1st class.

Very nice experience today at the Red Bull. Plenty to offer on the menu with varying cuisines - including Thai curry. Good selection for kids too. The woman who tended to us was very pleasant and cheerful. Food was very nice here. It’s also a case where you really do get your money’s worth. Not saying it’s expensive, just that you do get a good size plate of food when it comes to your table. Highly recommend the soup for a starter - homemade and fresh. The inside is also very well maintained and clean. Looks like it’s had a refurb. But even if it hasn’t, that’s the good standard you can expect to see when you arrive. It’s also got a big outside seating area right next to the canal. Very nice place to be; especially when the weather is playing ball. Will be returning.

Called in on Wednesday lunch time 17th July, just for cheesy chips and a drinks, bar lady was lovely, the young lady who was waiting on was great she couldn't have been nicer, a breath of fresh air... carry on you will go far. Thank you

This was a second visit to this pub. After a first visit 3 years ago I thought let's give them the benefit of a second chance but sadly it was no better. Waited at the entrance being ignored by several members of staff for longer than I personally would have waited but my friend was keen to try it out. Eventually got told there were no tables but we could order at the bar and sit outside, with the nice weather we decided to do that. At the bar, yet again, we were ignored while one person was cleaning the coffee machine and another pumping a beer tap through, not pulling a pint. I made a comment to my friend about the poor service to which the person cleaning the coffee machine heard and gave a stern unpleasant facial expression with an attempt of an apology. Food and drinks were ordered. Overpriced and not the best quality. The only good thing was the free and accessible parking. Disappointing second visit. There won't be a third.

The staff was delightful and welcoming. The Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious! I had the sticky toffee pudding with custard for dessert, which was quite delightful. The apple pie is also highly recommended. I will definitely be returning, especially since it is conveniently located just down the road!

Nice sitting canal side but service was atrocious. Went inside to get a table and order food. Everyone who walked in and placed a food order at the bar got served. I asked the bar maid if we could order food and she said somebody would take our order. 15 minutes later I walked back to the bar, got two pints and ordered a portion of chips which we ate outside. Won't bother going again. Better options in town. Wow, just wow. The level of snark in the pub's response is amazing! Gives you a real indication of how they view their customers. I don't mind waiting. Pretty much expected at busy times although having more staff would be helpful. What I do mind, and what I pointed out is that I did as I was told and got promptly ignored while other customers got served in front of me. The only way I did get service was to walk back to the bar and ignore that they told me to wait at my table. And, while we're at it the sour faced lady behind the bar did nothing to make anyone feel welcome. She very obviously wanted to be anywhere else than where she was. Hope she finds a new job soon where she doesn't have to deal with people. Since I was there I've heard from other people that it was just the same poor service and unwelcome vibe a year ago. They said if I'd asked they would have warned me off. If you're still reading this - do yourself a favor and find another pub to spend your time and money.

A busy pub worth visiting to enjoy a drink and/or meal. Parking behind pub. Garden tables by Trent and Mersey canal. Superb chips with my 8oz rump steak, which was cooked as asked and served in good time. Salad fair.

Popped in after work with the wife for a bite to eat. Very busy but seated quickly food & drink order taken promptly. Food was good though error with pudding got apple pie and not lemon meringue but was a good apple pie Dog friendly with outside tables by the canal with good parking

Lovely all round. Will always count it as one of my 'go to' pubs.. after a canal walk for a pint, for Sunday roast, for mid-week evening treat meal .. never let's me down. Well done Red Bull.

Food very good, friendly staff and good service!

I came for lunch and had fish and chips. The fish was out of the oven rather than fried. The chips were also really thick oven chips making them quite dry. The food service was rather poor, no “would you like any sauce” or “how was the meal”. When I did ask for sauce the wrong one was bought over, with a replacement taking ages to arrive. On the plus side, it’s reasonably priced, the bar staff seemed nice, and the atmosphere is nice enough. The “Morrisons cafe” style food means I probably won’t come back though.

Been there today ,chicken wing's sent out frozen, then re sent out same salard ,sauce and on the same plate,my partner took it back to the bar to explain to waitresses, inturn the chef the sent up the waitress with the frozen chicken wing packet to tell me its already cooked , erm no its frozen that means its not cooked ! no apology what so every. Just it's fine as its all ready cooked , shocking 😲. Somebody is going to get ill, I won't be going back again.Poor Poor Poor. I never really complain, a simple omg I'm sorry and a fresh plate of wings would of been fine I would of still paid (I wasnt after a free meal,) just not to get sick by eating raw chicken. I ended up leaving due to the shocking way this was dealt with and sending the mains back , I did pay for the drinks , even though the wine was warm. Very poor show guys , shocking customer service. We ended up taking our custom to the bulls head further up the road which I must say was excellent 👌 I'm a local trades man, not a food reviewer .

Really like this pub but we turned up today just for a bite to eat, no table was available apart from upstairs which was fine, absolutely fine, its Sunday....we werent expecting a prime table. But then once we were seated, no one came up to us to take our order. A lovely young lady, who I might add, was on her break, came up to us and took our order as she noticed that we'd been sitting there for a while with no one coming up to us. The food was bought to us by a girl who literally plonked it in front of us, didn't ask if we wanted sauces, if there was anything else we needed, nothing....she practically ran down them stairs away from us as fast as she could like Mo Farah doing a half marathon. No one came and checked back on us to make sure that everything was ok, nothing...... The food was nice but the service was rubbish (apart from the nice lady who gave up some of her break to take our order - she needs a raise in wages btw)

Lovely pub and food was very good, a little expensive though. Toilets very clean but no loo roll in the ladies and soap dispenser broken in mens. Staff very pleasant, polite and helpful. Lovely beer garden at the side of the canal. Saw a sign for car park, but didn't use it as we walked.

Good pub food, nice outdoor seating near the canal, popular with dog owners. Particularly nice on a sunny day. They do great potatoe chips.

Amazing food never disappointed, great staff with a friendly atmosphere

First visit since refurbishment and not disappointed. Had a mushroom omelette with very generous mushrooms, and the taste was excellent. Staff were very curtiouse and friendly. Large car park at the rear, so parking is not a problem. Will have lunch there again. The Red Bull is highly recommended.

Just had a 3 course Sunday dinner, absolutely amazing fresh homemade food. Service is really good the staff are lovely and welcoming.

The Red Bull it seems, is very popular with ramblers and dog walkers. When we went there were quite a few ordering meals after exercising. Food was as expected. Decent pub grub in nice surroundings. Looks like the pub has been refurbished recently. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was good.

Came here for a meal. Had the beer battered fish and chips and will say I was not disappointed. The fish was massive and lovely chunky chips. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal. Also has a massive beer garden right on the canal too.

The Thai green curry needs some attention, the colour didn’t look very appetising. And not much taste either. Other food looked spot on.

The pub has had a nice refurbishment it was decorated nicely for Christmas, but that's where it ended I'm afraid. The man behind the bar was nice but the rest of the service was quite unfriendly, service wasn't great and just not a pleasant atmosphere again. Food was very middle of the road but it was cheap. Wouldn't return in a rush. Service with a smile goes a long way

Had food there quite a few times always good , but today Boxing Day was awful2023 don’t know if they have changed chefs but it was bad , it’s a shame as we will not go back

This place is lovely. From the homely feel, to the lovely attentive staff, to the reasonably priced food. We will definitely be returning again.

We descended on this country pub mid-afternoon with kids and baby in tow, looking for a place for a family chat. We weren't ordering food, just drinks. So we were a bit of a nuisance, but the staff couldn't have been more kind and helpful. They even rearranged the tables in a section of the pub so we could all sit together. Great cosy pub with lovely staff.

The Red Bull is a lovely pub. The decor is clean and modern and the food was delicious - and the portion (I had the chicken in white wine sauce) was unexpectedly large. All of the staff were lovely. The menu was varied and big enough to offer a lot of different options. All in all, a very nice meal in a very nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Simple fare but well cooked and good value.

First visit with ex work colleagues, we were all very impressed, with the staff, the place & the food so much so we rebooked for a luncheon in December 👍 lovely place will be taking my hubby for Sunday lunch 👍☺️

Lovely setting with good pub food. Notably the tables were very clean- not at all sticky which is so often a feature of cleaning tables these days! Toilets also spotless.

Visited for the first time as friends were visiting and was convenient for their mooring This was just good pub grub nothing overly impressive We booked for around 5ish and there were dishes unavailble but that may been due to a busy weekend One thing was no wine list and to be served G & T in an OJ glass even though we asked for it to be changed it was a no no I personally dont think its too much to ask for food to be of a top standard if the chefs are of a good experience. The event was ok the staff were nice and I did feel bit sorry for them as when we mentioned things they tried their best . On average with food and drinks with 3 courses you are looking around £35
