Excellent place for a beer variety of badger ales, food looked good on other tables though not busy at our time of visit

The Red Barn has been revamped and changed to The Barn. Lovely inside and out, lots of space, nicely done, good beers. Staff very friendly. Lost something in being bought by a chain. We are here. Now, it was not bad, but it could have been a lot better. Our son had the kids burger, we had the double burger. £17 for a double burger, and a few fries. Nothing special about the burger, a bun, some sauce, a bit of iceberg lettuce. Fries were cold, these were replaced with fresh ones. We would have been better ordering two kids burgers, cheaper and more food. Pub burgers sound be so much better than this. Id recommend for a drink, but not eat, there are other locally owned pubs that are just as great for a drink. It has location on its side.

We booked a table, and when we went to order food, there was nothing on the menu available, i fully appreciate that you may have been busier than expected and run out of stock, but the 4 of us was turned down with most of our starter and most of our main orders too. The other thing that was very annoying was that we were not notified that half the menu was not available when we arrived. When the food arrived, it wasn't great our chips were cold, the chicken burgers were not presented well all falling to one side and the "batter" was soggy. Staff seemed to be very distracted, they took my payment for the first drink order which was only 2 drinks they done one drink walked away and i had to ask again for the other to which i was asked to pay again but had explain the other bar staff took payment but didn't give us the drink. Won't be going back, we will use the restaurant located on the street behind instead.

Fantastic place, great location. Accommodated a large group of us arriving at no notice and at different times. Service was welcoming, friendly and informative. Really nice decoration and ambience. Great selection of food and all really tasty. Will definitely be back.

I had one of the best fish and chips for someone who doesn't like fish, it was pretty good. The service was awesome.

The best place to visit if ever in woolacombe!

What an absolute delight! We visited this area last year and didn’t even notice this place in its old guise. What they’ve done with the place is exactly what was needed, we’ve been to a few of their pubs now and really rate them! Today, we already had dinner booked somewhere else for this evening however decided to stop by for a drink…. Then ordered nibbles, you know… to keep us going! Very, very tasty meatballs. A cracking place to meet with friends or just as a couple. A great vibe, next to a great beach! A big car park opposite and there’s a route in for wheelchair users or those not able to do steps. Toilets clean and in full working order. It was very busy but then it was a bank holiday Monday with moody weather, so maybe an idea to book if coming for food.

The barn has had a menu change , the order was extremely small compared to the previous menu .lmy nephews chips were in such a tiny container was ridiculous fir the price, I’d say nice for a drink and decorated nice / views etc. but food disappointing

Recent visit , I had a burger it was not the best , and not cheap . We have used the Red Barn for many years but won't be having food again. Great location for a drink and you can take the dog in . Try bar electric around the corner, for food, you can also take the dog in . .

Gave 1 star because you can’t pick a zero , the staff are beyond rude and lazy , I paid for 4 drinks only received 3 and then proceeded to get ignored and serving other people while I waited but still didn’t receive after complaining, you have to queue up at the bar for drinks and food which there was no order and like being in a nightclub so no order of when you’ll get served , high highly recommend you look past the location of this place and pick another place in Woolacombe as this will ruin your experience of the place I will never go back and urge others not to use this place especially not if you’re using it for a special evening because it will get ruined I want an email address for this place to make a formal complaint against members of your staff for not providing drinks that I paid for

They had an advertising board outside showing a lovely ale for sale. Went inside..it was off sale..they'd run out.

Went into look at menu for later! Decided would have coffee, went to counter, no acknowledgement from person there, asked if we could order coffee no eye contact just said 'order at the bar'. Thought this very rude, to give no acknowledgement!

It's a nice location with friendly staff and our food came out really quickly, despite being a group of 8 people. Most of the food was really nice. I would avoid the cauliflower dish though. That was rank. Prices are quite steep though. That's why only 3 stars.

After a weekend away we thought we would try the new barn ... first impression very nice .. got to the bar no cider which was not a good start..sat down and thought of food .. Sunday roast was the idea only to find out they had ran out of beef and limited chicken .. then took 3 attempts to find a normal menu .. we did eat but nothing special.. the table service was poor dirty cups on our table .. sorry won't be rushing back

No. The charm and feel of the old Red Barn has been completely destroyed. Everything was delivered and there were still chairs in front of the view in order to rip off twice as many people. It was not possible to get a coffee at the bar. It's just a shame that it's all about profit; there's no point in hanging a few surfboards from the ceiling. Now we park at the front and drink our beer in front of the bus, actually zero stars

The Barn in Woolacombe has a fantastic location right next to the wide sandy beach—perfect for a relaxing meal with a view. The food was fresh and full of flavour; we had fish and chips, prawn cocktail, and finished with a delicious cinnamon cheesecake and coffee. The service was excellent—attentive, friendly, and professional. A great spot for both the food and the atmosphere!

After spending the day on the beach we were so excited to check out the newly renovated Barn. We forgot to order one of our small plates and both Ella and Amelia were absolutely amazing at rectifying the situation. Ella definitely worked her magic with the managers and showed the chef her powers of persuasion! Thank you both again!

Newly re-opened, so still having teething troubles. Long queues to order food and drinks, tables not cleared between dining very quickly and quite dirty all around table areas, but I am sure this will improve. Food was nice enough but it is quite pricey, they do have a bit of a monopoly with views and placement in Woolacombe though, as most other places are a little pretentious and often rowdy at certain times of the year. All of Woolacombe is quite over-priced for food and drinks, unfortunately. Maybe bring a picnic and sit on the green, benches or beach, much nicer and a lot cheaper. The staff are trying very hard to make this place work, so give it a chance.

Have been a regular visitor to Red Barn for 30 plus years. We were excited to see what had been done to The Barn as it’s now called. Booked a table for 7.30. Arrived early and enjoyed a drink outside. at 7.20 we told them of our arrival. We were greeted by a waitress who immediately said “That’s your table” and pointed the table out to us and then went on to say “there’s no table service tonight you’ll have to order at the bar”. I asked why and she abruptly stated that it wasn’t her fault the card machine wasn’t working. The queue at the bar was really long. I understand things go wrong but the attitude of this waitress was truly awful. Rude! We decided we would leave. She approached me again stating it wasn’t her fault and that it was the same everywhere else. So rude! We left. We went to the Electric Bar where we were greeted with a smile. I’d definitely recommend it as the food and staff were excellent.

Really nice bar for drinks. Food on par with Wetherspoons but twice the price.

Food was very average, my partner said it was probably the worse burger he’s had and the fries were stale. Service could have been better, we weren’t approached or greeted at all. No one mentioned its order at the bar so we were sat down waiting for a while. Aside from this, it’s a nice spot to watch sunset and the decor is nice.

Poorly run. No one seating people or saying 1hr wait for food, with kids, at 6pm. Queue for bar for 30mins then they tell you. Updated for their reply: it doesn’t take 2wks “tireless work” to ask and answer 1 question on the door. You could offer a free drink else why would I try again?

Food great. Service also great. New look is great. Prices are a little high. We had a really nice Sunday lunch which was excellent. I accept it being a little higher price on the food but the beers were probably a £1 over this isn’t so good but still not outlandish.

After a 7 mile walk from where we are staying, we popped in here yesterday for some cold refreshing drinks. Lovely dog friendly, well furnished pub situated just off the beach. Plenty of seating inside & outside a mixture of benches, stools & table and chairs. Staff very friendly and attentive even made time to fuss the dogs. Great selection of Ales, ciders, lagers & wines reasonable priced considering where it is. Food which was being brought out looked very nice. Certainly worth visiting if in the area.

Food wasn't to my liking I had the chicken sandwich very tasteless it was more like a sandwich filler

The Red Barn has been fully renovated and is now called The Barn. Great atmosphere and food was delicious.

Staff were lovely, the inside interior was very nice. They’d ran out of a lot of food on the day so I opted for the prawn sandwich. Mine came quickly but everyone else had to wait for their food to arrive for another 15 / 20 minutes (they’d only ordered chips/halloumi) so I sat and ate by myself. The meal would’ve been nice but it had a thick coating of cheap butter on both sides of bread which completely ruined the taste. It wasn’t mentioned on the menu either as I would’ve asked for it to be plain, so I ate the prawns and left the bread as it made it very unpleasant.

Very nice place and decorated second to none but very busy. If you want to book during the holidays you need to book well in advance like weeks. Keep an eye on your position in the que for drinks, and the bar staff do not keep track like other places do. I had an older couple just walking in front of me and my children at the bar, and they went to get served before us until I had to step in and say something.

The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived at 11:45, but they needed 20 minutes to make a tea(!) and a cappuccino. The cappuccino was really flat and tasted like an americano with some milk. The sevice was awful.

Absolutely stunning make over. Great location and vibe as before. Waiting time for drinks and food let our visit down. 20 minute wait for coffees and same again for food. We were the 3rd order in and sadly some of the food wasnt hot. Felt like they were short staffed. Definitely holiday season prices!! Still the jewell of Woolacombe.

My husband visited the red barn as a child. I have never been before. We both thought the refurb is amazing. Has such a cool vibe. The interior is stunning. Staff are very friendly and attentive. We especially thought El was amazing. She made a big fuss over our dog Quincy and us. We love her. We visited twice in the few days we were staying in Devon. Would definitely recommend the Barn. Have great memories already of it. Made such a big fuss of our dogs. Even though they were barking. 😉. Missing the place already. Thanks again to the lovely El x

Really nice Ales 🍺 mostly badger brewery. Was very busy, staff were letting people know how long the wait was for food before they ordered and just queuing which was good so they could make informed decision. I did not eat here but food looked very nice.

Great food, lovely atmosphere. Really friendly staff. Always happy to help. Clean and fresh toilets. Best place to watch the sunset. Food is lovely and all freshly cooked. Lovely selection of Ales, larger. Cider and wines. Along with a great selection of spirits. Cosy blankets and cushions are available to sit outside to watch the sunset over Woolacombe beach. Perfect

The facility opened recently. We ordered breakfast. Sausages were completely tasteless. Raw mushrooms. IT WAS A BAD WALK.

We visited twice while on holiday last week. Ordered food, was told they hadn't any Harissa chicken which was OK so I changed to another dish and the waitress said I need to get a manager to sort refund out for the change of food. The refund never happened. Then visited again on Friday 4th April. Husband Ordered the Hotdog WITHOUT onion (specifically). It arrived smothered in onions!

We had nachos with added beef chilli they put lots of salsa on instead of in a bowl hardly any chilli and hardly any cheese the chips were expensive for the tiny amount and I am local I love the pub but the food was shocking never eat there again sorry

No longer red, they have tried to make it more "hip" it's lots it charm. When it was the red barn it had character. It was always busy. Food was served quick and cheap. It was atmospheric. Now it just looks and feels empty. Walked in and looked about and walked out. Would not recommend. The only good thing about it is the location that's it.

What a splendid make over, Staff were friendly and managed their first day of reopening .Well done team Barn. Our meals were scrumptious and the puds a delight. Perfect separation for the dog friendly and those not so keen. A splendid choice of beverages for all taste buds. Have a fab season all. I have no doubt it will be five stars all round next time 😊

I always used to love coming here for an evening meal with my family but things have changed. The kids menu is very limited. The staff weren’t very friendly. The toilets were clean.

Called here whilst out and about in the area for a drink and a quick snack. Used the at table app to order. Fast service! Great range of beers available. Food was all hot, freshly prepared. Very enjoyable. Most definitely is dog friendly inside certain areas of the bar. I would call here again.

Inconsistent attitude for staff

Lovely pub overlooking the beach and sea ,friendly staff was offered samples of real ale if you needed one food looked good but didn't have any myself,.Would imagine very popular in the summer.

The service was bad - no smiles from staff , the manager was curt . Was made to feel like we were a nuisance. Ordered two portions of chips and waited 30 minutes !

We have been to the Red Barn many times over the years and always had a great meal and experience but this time (Oct 24) the food I am sorry to say was poor. Nothing was really warm and my chips were cold and hard which is annoying as they are very simple to cook. The atmosphere wasn’t great with the table we sat at also having the lights off so it was dark and gloomy. I should have sent the food back at the time but I HATE complaining and was just going to forget it but I think I decided I wanted to write the review just to make the owners aware the kitchen may need a bit of attention/care. Simple tweaks. I also may have caught the chef of a one off bad night - let’s hope so!

Very good food and reasonably priced

We tried to order food using the QR code but the menu was not up to date. They then didn't have everything on the paper menu available. I have a couple of food intolerances which I avoid as makes me ill. Their company policy meant they couldn't adapt any dishes, for example removing cheese from the burgers!? We went to another restaurant and they were very happy to help.

It's a nice establishment with little competition had some chicken sent it back as undercooked queues at bar not enough seating however great vibe.

Been here lots always great service and food. But been here today 23rd October. Was refused gluten free burger bap. But had it two days before was told with attitude we cant do that by a different member of staff who refused to believe me only to prove him wrong when their records showed they did but then said his colleague shouldnt have done that. Always had this several times past few visits. Then went to alternative options only to be told havent got that havent got that havent got that. Very annoyed and frustrated customer service was shocking. Loved this pub but will not be coming back so frustrating and staff useless today. Terrible service and attitude.

I presume this restaurant has changed hands since my last visit. Food is pretty shoddy. Freezer to fryer nothing fresh on starters. Used to be the best in town. Didn’t see anything as appetising as the photos on the customer pics. Prawn cocktail looked like potted shrimps! George was the best part of the experience!

Nice place, great views. Food terrible. There’s other places with far superior quality food in the village. We ate there once, on our first night and never returned! Oct 2024 .

Atmosphere and service were good. The prawn cocktail was tasty and plentiful. The drinks were very good and well kept. However, the chilli con carne was not so good. It was tasty with some heat, but the minced beef was of poor quality. There were many chewy pieces, indicating poor quality meat, not long enough cooking or cooking at too higher temperatures.

Really disappointed. Poor coffee choices as limited coffee machine.Staff tried their best.One cake only on offer. The worse part was seeing one of the staff taking out the food sneeze into the air and didn't use their hand prevent it. Disgusting

Filthy. Food all over the floors, sticky carpet. Toilets appalling. Terrible place. Not even busy so nothing to blame it on other than poor hygiene standards and disinterested management. Had a quick beer outside and left to find somewhere else.

Lovely place with beach views and central to everything. Very dog friendly with dog bowls provided as you walk in the door which is a lovely touch. Food was good, burger and chips can't go wrong! Onion rings were superb! Service was quick and you can order at the bar or via the barcode at the table for ease. First time here and would definitely return

Decent food, great food and a wonderful view. Book if youre coming in the evening, even in the afternoon during the week this place gets busy. Only downside is there is no onsite parking, nearest parking is across the road and is paid

A lot less variety since the franchise took over, many of my favourites have gone. Limited menu that remains is still high quality though and atmosphere is lovely.

I thought the menu was very good, all generations found something they really enjoyed. The food was freshly cooked and tasty. Lydia looked after us really well and we all had a very enjoyable lunch.

Booked for lunch on a Saturday. Good job too! It was super busy Our lunches came out hot and quick, everything was delicious. We had kids mac & cheeses, fish and chips, pizza, burger, salad and chicken schnitzel. All were lovely. We nearly left and then remembered about the kids Ice creams which were included in the price (awesome!) 1 star down for the frosty young lady, I could tell she was trying to be helpful but she seemed like she was fed up of her job, I did also speak to another chap, whom I harassed a few times with questions such as “the kids fish fingers… are they proper pieces of fish or frozen ones-they are proper fish and very very good! And then found him again to ask about ice cream flavours, then again to order the Ice creams, I can’t remember his name but he had arm tattoos, very nice chap. The decor is very cool with surfboards, the location is just perfect, we nipped up from the beach, then headed straight back down 👌🏻

Came in for hot food we didn't have to cook after a very wet and windy day camping, booked for 7:45, nothing online to mention the kitchen closed at 8 which would be a small and easy update, but the staff were great, told us straight away and got the order through in time. Decent food, great service.

Alex our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food was really nice, we had burger, nachos and pizza.

Lovely evening spent with friends, waited quite a long time for food but could see it was super busy and the staff were working really hard to get food out. Alex came and took our order at the table and was super attentive during the evening even though it was really busy. Food was good, beef burgers & bacon inside were cold unfortunately, we did mention this to Alex, but it wasn’t a “complaint” we could see how busy it was, it didn’t ruin our evening. Thank you Red Barn we will be back
