Raphael's in Havering

Visited Saturday lunchtime.Very relaxed venue with good service, not at all rushed. We all enjoyed our food and glad we tried it. Look forward to another visit!

A catch up with my Swedish business partner. Started with an excellent traditional Margarita. Then on to some really excellent food. King prawns in an amazing sauce followed by Lamb Ragu and a lemon tart with vanilla ice cream for desert. Wasn’t going to drink but got carried away. A bottle of Red Wine, a nice whiskey and the finished with a Camden Hells. Had to call for my wife and daughter to drive us both back to hotel and home.

We visited this restaurant for a surprise 40th birthday party. In total there was about 30 of us. My family were the first to arrive and from the moment we walked in to the moment we left the staff were nothing but rude. The lady saw us to our table which was in an outdoor conservatory area which was absolutely freezing. There was two heaters, but they could only get one working. So it was a cold evening. No one came over whilst we waited for everyone to arrive to ask for drinks. When we did order drinks from the bar, again the staff were rude and had no clue what was going on. One lady started serving us, and then got distracted and done something else. You also pay a service charge on drinks which for the service we received I don’t think is acceptable. Dinner arrived all at different times. My dad had finished his dinner before mine had even been delivered to me. I may of understood if they were busy, but we were the only table in the restaurant. The only good thing I can say is the food was nice. However it took so long that most people left after mains and didn’t get the dessert that was included on the set menu Unfortunately I wouldn’t come back here

We attended Crem for a wedding reception. We were given the back all glass room (which has blinds to conceal on request)! Let me tell you, the venue location, the interior plus the staff here made my best friends wedding absolutely magical. We took advantage of the entire menu. All good was cooked with so much flavour and care. The meats tender, the vegetarian meals absolutely devine. Of course the bar was fully stocked too. They allowed us to party without disturbing the main guess. Truly was amazing. I wish I could remember the owners name. She was a lovely woman who always made sure that we weee ok and whether we needed anything else. She also spoke to us about her journey in creating such a great restaurant. I highly recommend families, couples, friends and anyone who wants to work from home but in a. Different setting to go here! When we had the children around at the beginning, she took them aside and played with them as well as give them a tablet to entertain them. They absolutely loved her and gave her loads of hugs. If I could give 10 stars, I would!

A fabulous food experience - fresh and pure - absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of attention from the staff.

Awful manager, has the worst customer service skills I’ve ever come across she was putting blame on staff members who had nothing to do with it they were all 16 and the way she spoke to them during our time at the restaurant was unbelievable. The food was awful and overpriced would not recommend menu is awful all over the place.

We would of rated a lot higher but the manager (megha) needs to learn how to treat her staff in front of customers and in general the way she spoke to them was disgusting and if I’m honest the service from them was lovely and we had no complaints such a shame for those young waiters and waitress and the customers to witness

Most awful experience I have ever encountered. Service was incredibly slow considering how empty the restaurant was. Gave it the benefit of the doubt but things just got worse. Firstly a potato salad was served with no potatoes…. Ordered a rump steak which 20 minutes later we were told by the manager she had removed from the menu as it had received several bad reviews. Asked if they would price match as the next option was an additional £12. This was when the manager decided it was acceptable behaviour to raise her voice and cause a scene in front of the whole restaurant. After declining to pay the full bill for our starters as there were many issues. She asked her 16 year old member of staff to lock the whole restaurant in and call the police. Very dramatic and was absolutely disgusting. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. VILE MANAGEMENT.

Oh wow, what amazing food and service, can't fault anything. The Thai vegan curry was the best I've had in years. The park and lake view was beautiful. Words can't describe how good everything was my humble Thank you to the chef's and staff for making our day out so amazing, I will most definitely be coming back. ❤️

A fantastic venue, with great staff, great service and an excellent variety of food. We visited for our 38th anniversary, and the evening was one of the best meals out we've ever had. The staff were very friendly, and went out of their way to make the evening special for us. Megha really knows her craft, and blends flavours to create a wonderful, innovative menu. Such a welcome change from the usual range available around the area! Highly recommended, especially if you're looking for something different.

We went here several times for lunch over the course of a week when visiting family. The food is excellent and nothing really like it in the area. We tried the chat salad, the tacos, the chicken bao, the hummus, and the burger and all were excellent. The prices are a little above the average for the area but the food quality was worth it. It's a very nice setting, great after a long walk in the park. The outdoor area is completely covered so very handy if you get caught out without an umbrella! The owner is lovely and all the staff were very accommodating of us and my 6 month old.

Went with our son and his wife for dinner when visiting them last Saturday. They had been before a few times and wanted to take us. The food was delicious and fresh tasting. I had the Thai Red Curry with Fish which was lovely. To start I had the leeks which were perfectly cooked. Good to be able to sit out on the terrace, and the staff were all very friendly. Price-wise that is what I would expect to pay for food of that quality. We all really enjoyed our food and would highly recommend.

We had a lovely date night here overlooking the lake. The food was tasty and the service excellent. I thought it was a bit pricy but nonetheless we will visit again.

Visited on a Friday evening and left very please, will certainly be back. Nothing quite like this in the Romford area and I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice night out. The staff were lovely and attentive. Service was extremely efficient and food came out in good time. The restaurant is very nicely styled and really helped create a relaxing and warm atmosphere. We had a selection of starters and a chicken biryani, all extremely tasty. Bao buns are a must and the biryani was amazing, such good flavours. I feel a little harsh giving a 4 rating rather than a 5 but I'm afraid that in our opinion the desserts didn't match the high quality of the starters/mains and didn't enjoy them at all. The ice cream was pretty poor quality and the creativity you saw in the savoury dishes was missing. Don't want this review to end on a bad note so will reiterate that we had a lovely time and can't wait to come back. Thank you,

We had some lunch at this restaurant today. We sat in a table in the terrace, the weather was lovely, you could watch people walking in the park, you could hear the sound of the fountain in the lake. The food was very good, fresh and tasty, the service was quick and the staff were very friendly. We have eaten here before but only inside, eating on the terrace in the sunshine was really good and very relaxing. I would recommend this restaurant fir lunch or dinner, and if the weather is good then experience a meal on the terrace.

We went to this restaurant with a group of friends. Very small amount of pitta bread, when the main arrived I had to look twice at my plate. One skewer of mixed shish, two small bits of onion on the skewer and a couple of pieces of chicken and lamb. When you look at the photos on their website it shows two skewers. It had one greasy bit of asparagus and one cherry tomato and this was £17 !! The staff were not that friendly and what was worse they charged 10% cover charge. Would not go back

Amazing dinner with my mum, dad, and my husband. The atmosphere was great as many people were sitting outside enjoying the sunshine but we sat inside as the outside was a bit windy Ordered 2 mix grills and a few starters. Was very tasty. Service was not rushed and we enjoyed the meal. Covid19 rules were in place which made us feel more comfortable. Would definitely return

Just visited this restaurant with my children, they had their preferred lunch and when it come to mine I returned it due to the lamb being very hard Etc , they happily took this back. Offered me something else hence declined after this asked for more bread with the Humus I ordered when asking for more bread they got funny saying it was not unlimited. Even though only a few bits of bread come with the humus anyway. After this they started getting funny and as I only asked for extra bread. The service became from nice to hurried, as they bought the bill round when I haven’t even finished asking for it even adding a 10% service charge as the kids where looking forward having a desert. I would never never visit this restaurant again Due to the service after having my main sent back And asking for bread!!! Over and definitely out!!

I visited with a friend for lunch. We hadn't booked but we were able to be seated without any problems . The restaurant is following Covid precautions and there was hand sanitizer on entry and staff were wearing face coverings. There is a lovely terrace overlooking the lake and on a day with nicer weather it would be wonderful to sit there. However, due to it being windy we sat inside. The decor is modern and attractive. The waitress was pleasant and efficient. We quickly got our chosen drinks delivered to the table. We chose from the set lunch menu which was good value. I enjoyed a hummus and pitta bread starter whilst my companion had tara. The main course for both of us was lamb shish kebab accompanied by rice and salad. This was tasty and well cooked. I will definitely return for lunch on a day with better weather so i can enjoy the view from the terrace.

Friday drinks only Booked table for drinks only, waited ages to be served as diners were priority. 2 cocktails & 3 sodas cost over £25, expensive we thought.

Delicious food - ample portions, succulent meat, tasty veg and hummus, lovely wraps - friendly and competent staff, very reasonable prices: all five of us have only praise for this restaurant. Also, it was reassuring how the social distancing was handled - the tables were apart, you weren’t let in until there was enough room, sanitising gel was available: we felt very well looked after. Thank you, we’ll come again!

As much as I was looking forward to the opportunity to get to this place as much I was disappointed in what I saw there ...such little starters of food I have not seen anywhere, the food was not tasty, the meat is overdried and the prices are clearly inflated.The staff is inexperienced and at least needs to be trained in the simplest things. I do not recommend this place for a family celebration with children. Be prepared for additional payments and many restrictions and eventually the atmosphere of your celebration will spoiled.

Fantastic spot overlooking the lake, the staff were absolutely lovely, and food, most importantly, was mouth-watering. Grill for 2 is to go for! I'll be back. Thanks guys!!!

Fantastic experience, a real romantic meal with my partner by the lake. The views are amazing and the staff really friendly and helpful, getting the evening off to a great start. When the food arrived we were astonished at how good the quality was. We could not ask for more! Will be going regularly for date night from now on!

I must admit to being a big admirer Raphaels. They have spent lockdown updating and extending the restaurant. Everything else remains the same in terms of welcome, service and quality of food. Definitely recommend

Great setting here looking over the lake in raphaels park. Good food at the right price friendly helpful staff decent selection of beverages. The only thing that is slightly disappointing is the toilets aren’t connected to the restaurant and they look very much like public toilets

My husband and I visited for a local valentine night meal. The restaurant had been themed with roses, hearts & a special sharing menu for those who wanted it. We stuck to the usual menu, the food was good and we were not disappointed- falafels and grilled mushrooms for starter, with a lovely salad and warm bread & dip, then mixed kofte for my husband and chicken shish for me. The food is honest, well cooked and tasty. The setting is not the Ritz but staff are great and this restaurant is was it is, so we visit for the food. A great meal and we will be back. Visit this restaurant if you want great food and a warm welcome.

Love this place, never fails with the quality of food & service! Been coming here for over a year now and I really do enjoy it. Been here when it first opened and was disappointed but fault I’d give it another try and was disappointed again, food was so poor I ordered a chicken wrap and was more like a salad wrap hardly anything in it but salad. Presentation was like salad just thrown on the plate with a wrap. Staff were little rude and snappy. Don’t waste your money go else where. Shame as location and decor is lovely.

We popped into Raphael’s for a late lunch early January and apart from the idillic setting and lovely view the food was a let down.We ordered the hot sharing starter selection for 2 people and a few other bits like fried Brie and chicken dippers.Most of the food even the king prawns were watery with the taste and texture like they’d been cooked or reheated from frozen.The fried Brie was hard and cold like it had been left to cool too long.Also for a sharing menu for 2 people we received 3 pathetic skinny rings of calamari. You usually get a lot more than that and usually an amount that can be slit between 2.Such a shame as it is a relatively local restaurant that we’d have liked to make a more regular hangout.

I’ve been here a number of times especially in the Summer, the locality is great and a great pleasure to sit outside.The food is generally average and not my particular choice if I want Turkish.At times the staff are a little feisty and they operate a minimum credit card spend which is inconvenient.

Hi I’m part of a family of five and we had a great meal that we all shared, to start off everyone loved the meals and they are just right not to make you full, the chicken was delicious and very nice. I have 4 stars as it wasn’t as amazing as I expected, however it was still very nice and definitely worth it. One bad thing is it is very over priced for humus it was 4.00 when you can get some for 1 pound and as well the total came to £60+ so too expensive for me
