As our anniversary fell within our annual visit week, we decided to enjoy a brunch at the tearoom and I booked a table for noon as August is a busy month. The staff were lovely and although we were 10 mins late for the breakfast specials, Bill kindly did a full Scottish for my husband as he'd been looking forward to that! I opted for a proper frankfurter with fried onions and real German mustard, though I decided to pass on the saurkraut. Both meals were really good. Jenny even had time for a quick chat before the lunch time rush and staff wished us a happy anniversary when they served our meal and drinks. As the wee place filled up, we felt bad that two of us were taking up a table for four, so we told Jenny that we'd choose our cakes and take them back to our lodge. She did ask us to stay, but we were full anyway, so it wasn't too much of a hardship to defer our cakes until later! We chose two pieces of fantastic lumberjack cake and as we're cream lovers, Jenny popped a couple of clotted cream pots into the boxes. She also refused to take payment for the cakes and said that was our anniversary treat....such kindness on our special day! I'm not adding any of the prices as it seemed unimportant because we felt like royalty and much preferred to visit this tearoom than to spend much more money in some impersonal posh hotel. Prices have risen everywhere, so we are well aware of how some businesses are struggling. We have eaten here before and the hard working team always try to accomodate the folk who find their way to this out of the way place, which is part of it's charm. But do book ahead and make allowances for your timings and the popularity of the place. It's a gem, so appreciate it's uniqueness. Thank you, Bill, Jenny and staff & we hope to be back next year if we're fit enough!

Went by road and had bacon and egg rolls. Walked to loch then back to tea shop for tea and cake. Lovely food, cakes are home made and different from the usual factory made cakes on offer in other tea rooms, only problem is which to have. Very friendly staff. P. S. Thank you for my sausage and biscuit you gave me. Aggy the dog.

Arrived for lunch and to buy cake to take home, to be told that I was rationed to a single piece of cake. Odd business plan to display cakes and then refuse to sell them. Excuse given was that you didn’t want to run out later, so I am a bit annoyed to see reviews on here where you have sold 3 slices of cake to people to take away. I have travelled the 160miles to you for lunch many times, but think this was the last time.

This Tea room was the most beautiful little find, it was like stepping back in time. Very good value, the food was yummy even had a cheeky glass of wine. The staff were very friendly. We did not want to eat until 4pm but it closed at 4.30pm to make sure we had a table I checked beforehand but was advised that there may not be cakes left by then. So I asked for one to be put aside for me and this was not a problem. Lovely little souveniers to purchase as well. We would have gone back the next day but unfortunately it was closed. There was beautiful deers to look at as well which was a bonus and lovely walking areas that lead to a secluded little beach. Would definately go back if we visit this area again.

The Tea Room at Rannoch Moor Train Station is very much iconic, a one off. Despite it being well off the beaten track it remains very popular and busy and no surprises there. The menu, whilst not extensive boasts excellent quality food from the home made soup, tasty sandwiches and hot snacks, followed by an unbeatable range of home made cakes and deserts. All this delivered by friendly owners and staff in a location that is perhaps unrivalled in the UK. The station tea room and accompanying "museum" rooms adds a real homely feel

We got there late so we didn’t see many cakes left sadly which was disappointing, and they don’t have many tables as it’s very small so we had to sit at window but we honestly didn’t mind as the view was lovely and they provided blankets if you are cold to warm up inside. A generously sized and very tasty lunch. The situation is incredibly beautiful. Very highly recommended. Do book in advance as it’s a long way.

I can’t comment on how good this tearoom is because after our 3rd visit on the trot (2 times last year) there were no cake or scones left. Each time we’ve arrived at c2pm which isn’t exactly late in the day. And you would expect a tearoom to have cake! At a 140 mile, 4 hour round trip each time it’s doubtful we’ll try again. Being so far off the beaten track it also means a long drive to another tearoom (and a late arrival!)Sorry because we love to support small businesses and I can understand nothing being left if we’d turned up at 4.15pm but we always try to avoid a lunchtime rush anywhere we go, even more so now.

2nd visit this summer. Booking ahead is advisable, especially if like us you are cycling. Food is great, home baking amazing and service from all staff was first class. We love this unique cafe in stunning surroundings.

We visited the tearoom during a cycle round Loch Rannoch this week. I was promised the 'best cake in Scotland' and wasn't disappointed.I had the lemon & mascarpone cake and my partner had the carrot cake - and they were both incredible. We were given huge slices and they went well with a big pot of tea! We visited the cafe around 4pm so there was a limited selection left, but still a good variety. Definitely get there earlier if you want more options. Our bill came to £12 and for the wedges of cake I'd say that was really reasonable. The scenery on the way to the tearoom is also beautiful so being able to cycle there and lock up our bikes was great. Whilst placed in the middle of the platform, the tearoom is also quaint and very homely. It was well worth the 10 mile round-trip to get there!
