Was really disappointed with the service, was not what I was use to, ( usually one of our best places to visit ) there were different people running it from the kitchen and they had no idea whether they were coming or going, the ( cook ) was walking around the small prep area stuffing food in his mouth while prepare drinks and food for customers. While the lady that served me at the counter questioned everything I asked for then passed the order to the ( cook ) and I’m sure I was over charged as she seem to start putting prices through the till then walked away from the till when she came back asked had i paid being truthful I said not yet so she put more prices into the till, should have challenged it but she already seemed confused as to what she was supposed to be doing didn’t want to upset her more. It is doubtful we will return.

We called in for a quick drink and ended up having a cream tea with tea and my wife had hot chocolate. The Scones, cream and Jam were lovely, lovely views and lovely friendly helpful staff, if we are back in the area again we will definitely call in again.

This friendly tea room happily accommodated a coach party of walkers at the end of the day. Thirsty and weary after walking Lorna Doone country and the steep hills we were all glad to relax in the garden and enjoy their lovely cakes with a selection of drinks. They went the extra mile to serve us all, thanks.

We visited Ramblers Rest this time last year and met the owner who had recently taken over. The welcome we received was fabulous. There was a guitar in the corner so I picked it up to have a strum and the owner then proceeded to give us a rendition of Streets of London, it turned out he had been a musician in his previous life. Food was excellent as was the feel of the whole place even though it was quiet at the time. We revisited a couple of weeks ago in the hope of meeting the owner again but he was not there on the day of our visit, turns out he was at his other establishment, The Buttery, just a couple of miles away. Having said that, the on duty staff were also very friendly and smiley and the sandwiches and drinks were just as good. We cannot recommend Ramblers Rest enough so don’t drive by, pull in. visited a couple of times whilst on long hikes across Exmoor to recharge our batteries. Lovely food, beautiful home made salad dressing using local honey. Tea served on vintage china and proper filter coffee! (how refreshing not to have a long list of fancy coffee which takes longer to prepare than to drink). We sat inside on one occassion and on the other outside in the sun. Tea bread and butter a real winner!

A delightful stop with spectacular scones!! Thankyou to the two delightful ladies Ella and Kath for your hospitality today! Pretty windy day with rain and drizzle so was a welcome sight to see the Ramblers Rest was open , out of season and in March! A good fire on and dog friendly. Good tasting Miles tea served with cups and saucers in a teapot .. how it should be done. But the scones!! Absolutely delicious and warmed in an oven! They were so good, I bought some to take home. Another lady did the same. My husband said the tea cake he had was great too. An absolute MUST if you are passing!

Such a warm, welcoming place to happen upon on a cold dreary day. Walked into a cosy open fire, friendly staff and a great cuppa plus a slice of cake. Perfect especially when so little is open. We have been recommending the tea rooms as it is a great way to round off a bracing walk along the dramatic coast. The lunch menu looks good too!

Having previously visited this little gem of a cafe as a couple, we were more than delighted to take our friends there for a late lunch/afternoon tea. Even though it is still out of season and most other establishments in the area are either still closed or operating a very limited service, there was a good selection on offer at reasonable prices. I had a wonderful cheese and bacon scone served with chutney, my husband had a jacket potato with Goan vegetable curry and our friends had a bacon and Brie sandwich and a Devon cream tea. All were generous in size and absolutely delicious. The scones were warm and, most importantly, had clearly been warmed in an oven - not a microwave (which is one of my pet hates) ! I see that in an earlier review someone complained about the china cups. Each to their own, I suppose, however we found them quite charming especially as they were accompanied by a very large pot of tea, which our server, without being asked, offered to top up with hot water. There is no barista coffee machine in the cafe however my husband, who considers himself to be a bit of a coffee aficionado, assured me that the filter coffee was extremely drinkable. Finally, the staff. All were efficient, polite and helpful. So, all in all, I am more than happy to recommend this lovely, quaint, tearoom and I wish the owner and staff every success for the future.

Went to Lynmouth surroundings ares for a day . Lynmouth had no cafes open on the high St for a cuppa. So on the way to Porlock we came across the travellers rest small quaint place . Which was open. Ordered a scone fruit. And cheese scone. Coffee and hot chocolate. Had to query the price as was charged £20.65. The coffee was a cafeteria very strong with a minimal milk.the hot chocolate was barely warm and very power was all on the bottom once a stired it . If had no taste what so ever Would certainly not recommend. Cakes didn't look appetising. Small choice. On the positive the scones had a nice flavour Before leaving I checked about the price and was charged wrongly by £7.50.

We stumbled across this quaint tearoom by chance on our way from Minehead to Lynmouth. We were greeted by lovely pleasent staff and such a lovely little dog called Frank. I had the bacon rambler which was delicious, it came with a sales which was dressed in a lovely dressing.my partner had a toasted teacake which came with plenty of butter. I had a tea for 1 and managed to get 3 cups out of it. The owners were very helpful when I asked for more milk for my tea. Our drinks and food were served on charming China plates and cups which added to the charm of the tearooms. Plus the log burner added to the atmosphere. There is also a lovely gift shop in the tea rooms. We will most definitely be back when we are in the area. This is a must visit if you are in the area. Looking forward to seeing Frank the dog again.

We have been to the Ramblers Rest Tearoom quite a few times since it opened but won't be returning again. My friend and I visited for an early lunch today and were made to feel as if we were an inconvenience by the man who.appeared to be in charge. Firstly my friend was told she couldn't have a Latte because the coffee machine made too much of a 'racket" and had to have a cafetiere of coffee instead. The plunger on the cafetiere has obviously been pushed down too quickly and when poured there were granules of coffee floating on top. My friend asked for a ham and vegan toasted sandwich only to be told there was no ham. The food was adequate and the young lady who served us was very pleasant. We then decided to have another drink.and some cake and as we were sitting on a small two seater table we collected up the used plates/cups and teapot only to be told by the same man not to put them on the counter as they would be in the way of the next customer ordering which was slightly bizarre as there was only one other couple in there and they had already ordered he then said you should have left the dirty crockery on the table not brought it over. We were thinking we were being helpful but apparently not. We were made to feel like naughty school children rather than paying customers. We won't be back I'm sure other establishments in the area would appreciate our custom more than here.

We had often driven past this building on our many visits to the area and wondered why it was not used at all. We were pleased to hear that it had opened (reopened) as a tea room so decided to give it a try on one of our walks. Having made our way from Lynmouth via Brendon we were certainly ready for a bite to eat and a drink. We received a very friendly welcome, as did our dogs! I had the Bacon Rambler sandwich, with the addition of cheese and my wife had the Tuna Rambler, both on lovely thick granary bread. They were both delicious. The place was a little quiet and the owner came to chat for a while and meet our three spaniels. An obvious dog lover. It’s a great place to stop off and really set us up for the long walk back. Definitely be back on our next visit to the area. Thank you

If you love little dolly china tea cups of stewed filter coffee for £2.70 a pop served by a very grumpy owner then you'll absolutely love this place. (Oh and you can have a free bible too!). Given it two stars as one of the two guys who run it was very kind. Went with a big walking group at the start of our walk, and we agreed unanimously not to go in there on our return at the end.

Very warm pleasant reception, stopped for a breather after the fiendish Porlock hill, the proprietars are in their first season and we hope they do really well, they deserve to. It's such a high up, remote stop but I can imagine for ramblers and those doing the southwest coast path this unassuming little haven will be a very very welcome sight in the winter months and I can imagine it has the potential to become a go to stop for walkers and motorists alike, so warm and friendly and Frank the dog is a bonus.

The situation is wonderful, surrounded by idyllic Exmoor countryside. I had a very generous pot of tea and had a lovely seat by the fireside. The fire wasn't lit as it was August and warm, but I can imagine how cosy and comforting it would be if the fire had been lit, blankets were included. I had the best gluten free millionaires shortbread I have ever tasted. The lady behind the counter was delightful, you could immediately tell how happy she was, and much she loved her business. Her enthusiasm was infectious. She was friendly welcoming and helpful. She gave me directions to the local footpaths and the local area. If you're walking on Exmoor, or looking for Lorna Doone country, don't miss this tea room. It's lovely.

A very good dog friendly pub with rooms. Rooms clean, food brilliant, friendly staff and dogs allowed everywhere. Only thing that could be improved is the guest entrance to the hotel, very tired and need of updating. Otherwise a brilliant stay!
