We had a lovely meal here with friends recently. Staff were very friendly and helpful, which made all the difference.

Best curry i have had in a very long time! Great service too. Will definitely be returning.

Got a takeaway and it was soooo good, I now have a stomach ache from eating way too much. It was much cheaper than I was expecting so that’s also a plus.

What a disappointment! I have never had "Chewy Chicken" before now. I had the Chicken in Ginger with Cashews, I think the chef totally forgot the Ginger and ate two thirds of the cashew nuts. My wife had the Chicken Korma which was "unpleasant" in her words, she too said the chicken was tough, I am not even sure how you can make chicken tough, perhaps it wasn't chicken? The pilau rice was warm but not hot. I have to admit, the Nan bread was very good. The service was not very good either, the waiter had insisted we must sit in the main dining area and not the side room, there was a large group of around 18 young men and 2 young women who were not only extremely noisy but also blocked the way through from the kitchen especially while being served so that other waiters could not attend to other guests. I am not sure why young (20 to 30 ish) people think that it is OK to F and Blind in a restaurant but there was no attempt to ask them to mediate their language. No, I was not impressed and I shall not be visiting again.

Had a takeaway and the food was cooked fresh and was quick to come out. I know that there is new owners and they are certainly doing all the right things. Food was amazing Jalfrezi not super spicy (as it is in other curry houses) good flavour and the onion Bhajis were crispy and tasty. Good work gents 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Great customer service. Food was very hot, freshly cooked and they were so kind and attentive. Our little one loved the mushroom rice!

Want to thank the wonderful staff at Raj South for their care when a member of my party had just arrived & became unwell due to an existing medical condition. Taxis in local area were unavailable as it was 8.30pm on a weekend & they arranged privately to get us home. They went above and beyond. We are very grateful. They also sent our food as a takeaway which was delicious as always. Thank you all once again xxx

Dump of a place last decorated who knows probably 30 years ago , old battered cutlery , sticky stained menus, dirty toilets , didn't bother hanging around for food

Although the food was good here, the rather drab and grubby decor lets it down. Get the decorators in for a refresh!

3 of us just had a delicious meal for a reasonable price that didnt break the bank. I recommend the chefs special :). The restaurant was clean, comfortable, calm and staff wore masks.

A good Indian restaurant in the middle of hitchin. Food and service was good. Not too busy for a Saturday night either.

Ordered for the first time tonight after reading good reviews. (Who did these reviews) Well the chicken tikka masala tasted very bland nasty and rubbery and nothing like my usual chicken tikka masala from another place in Hitchin opposite Sainsbury’s carpark (you know the one) The Zafrani lamb biriani made my guest sick within 20 minutes of eating it, he’s still being sick now! I won’t be ordering again from this place. Worst curry I’ve ever had. Doesn’t even taste like curry and I’m surprised as it’s a restaurant (although I’ve never seen anyone go in there in the 9 years I’ve lived here) The best thing was the lime pickle which tasted exactly like the shop brought jar. If I could I’d give it zero stars. What a waste of £59.00 I must add I only ordered from here as my usual place was closed. NEVER AGAIN.

Best Indian restaurant in Hitchin

Very nice ambience and tasty Indian food.

Fantastic food when it finally arrived (an hour and a half after ordering) but issue with their card machine meant we were contacted by our bank (not what you need when your food has just finally arrived) and had to pay a fee 3 times for declined payments although there's no issue with our card.

First time in this restaurant in Hitchin- friends recomended. Sunday late afternoon but it was empty. Very good choice of dishes. Food tasty and fresh, I liked the variety of rice- mushroom or coconut and more. Also some original dishes I have not seen in other restaurants- order lamb with ginger and cashew nuts -it was lovely!

Great food and fast delivery service. Only problem is that all of our orders (3 in 4weeks!) Is always cool and we have to heat up. Maybe a hot box for delivery would be useful. Thanks for great food though.

Well I have to make a confession, I had not been back to the Raj Douth for about 10 years. Why? Because the last time I went the decor was awful, and more importantly the food was the same no matter what you ordered. There was a rumour flying around that the same sauce was being used on every dish, just with the meat and veg changed depending on your order. Well after being convinced to try it by friends I can only say I was made to EAT MY WORDS. The place is much improved, the decor is welcoming and the staff welcoming especially the owner who had a certain “cheeky charm”. We visited on banquet night where for £13 I had a poppadom and starter of a mixed kebab, which was a large portion to say the least and cooked brilliantly with a good balance of spices. Followed by a Chilli Chicken Tikka Masala oh wow there was defo some heat to that curry but again great thick sauce with strong flavours, my only down side was the chicken was a little hard and overcooked, but overall good. Also included in the price was a rice, keema rice for me, which again well cooked and nice and moist which is nice for an Indian sometimes the rice can be to dry. Garlic nan was cooked well and did the job. All this for £13 how can you go wrong.

Just ordered our first curry from here after moving into the area. We’ve tried a few curry houses (we are big curry fans and like to Suss out our new local) and it was by far the best we’ve had in Hitchin. It was delicious, flavoursome and speedy delivery! Thank you

Raj Douth are great as ever even during lockdown, we ordered quickly and easily from their website and received our delivery 20 minutes before we expected it! They were fast and the food was hot and delicious, up to the same excellent standard we enjoyed in their restaurant before the lockdown restrictions. Can't recommend them enough, still the best curry in Hitchin, our long time favourite.

This was an awful curry, way too hot compared to other curry houses. I always get a jalfrezi and everyone knows how hot your normal curry order is meant to taste and this overdid it to the point where my mouth hurts to eat anything else this evening - point of giving something a heat rating if it isn’t correct? Don’t go here. Was an empty restaurant when I arrived and still took 15 minutes to prepare the order despite ordering in advance

Friendly little gem hidden on trendy Hermitage Road. Reasonably priced and with a good menu, you can try a variety of freshly cooked dishes to suit all tastes.

This is a GOOD restaurant. All the dishes I tried were tasty and the keema naan very good. Service could have been slightly more prompt and attentive, but still OK and friendly.

Food was delicious and authentic. Loved the spiciness of it.

Poor quality food. Cheap flavourless chicken. Sauce was far from the tomato madras sauce it was meant to be and instead was very sweet potato tasting sauce.

I ordered a takeaway this evening, a chicken tikka masala with egg rice, and I must say, I was rather disappointed. Now I know this dish is not the spiciest on the menu, however, the one from here had virtually no flavour either. I wanted to send an email to explain, however their website won't let me submit a message without a map latitude ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and their info email bounced. Overall... disappointing!

Oh Yes! We went to Hitcin yesterday, which is unusal, and had the urge to have a lunchtime curry. The Raj next to the Hermitage Ballroom was the only one open. we were apprehensive. But we rang up and they were open. It is a typical Indian restuarant with the typical dining booths down on side. But the food was out of this world, I wish we had a good Indian retuarant in Royston. I want to than Hussan in particular for making us so comfortable.

Good range of dishes and consistently high quality ingredients, preparation and service. Has rapidly become one of our regulars.

Ordered a takeaway, the food is very tasty, authentic, full of fresh ingredients and not swimming in grease. All in all a fantastic meal.

Excellent resturaunt, since finding this place I have never looked back quality dining inside and as the same when ordering a take away. What really made this resturaunt stand out from all the others in Hitchin is that I have never had a meal swimming with oil.
