Delicious food, could not fault anything we had, all lovely. Friendly staff too. Very busy so obviously a popular place.

Today we visited for the Chinese New Year celebrations. From start to finish the staff, Linda & Steve where nothing but excellent. The whole Experience of the dragon dance, entertainment and food was fantastic! I would like to say a special thank you to Magic Dave! He was just so amazing with the kids and adults. And a lovely guy too. We will definitely be back to visit again. X

Lovely food, and kind, attentive staff. The choice on the menu is excellent, and it is fantastic that people with gluten allergies are so well catered for. However, the acoustics in the restaurant are pretty noisy, so you end up hearing more from other guests than those on your own table. It’s also quite hot and stuffy, and the seating isn’t very comfortable. I’d recommend going, but try and sit somewhere quiet with airflow! Amazing stuff, very helpful, easy to access the restaurant with a wheelchair as they have a back access but can also provide a ramp upon request at the front door. The fllor inside is flat and even so great moving around and the food was excellent. The staff were so friendly and helpful when we had any questions. There are bathrooms on the ground floor, and even though there isn't a disabled bathroom, there is space for a smaller wheelchair to go inside the bathroom areas and staff are happy to provide further assistance. We love going here and couldn't rate the food higher! Thank you!

I am amazed ghat the review snd very unkindly words of the person below. My findings were food was brilliant, loads of friendly atmosphere. Staff yes dressed in hoodies with Rainbow 88 on the back, The gentleman on the bar was great fun and we were served in a very timely manner. New Years Eve was very busy what does one expect. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The owner and staff could not be any friendlier and work so hard to ensure we all enjoyed.

Booked the restaurant 3/4 weeks previously as it was for 5pm New Years eve and my daughters 20th birthday , paid £30 deposit online. We arrived on time on New Years Eve to find they had not booked us in. Eventually they found the 3 of us a table , saying it was our table but booked under the wrong name ,even though our name was on the online deposit transfer. Before we sat down we were asked 'how long will you want the table'. Reached our table ordered some drinks which happened to be the best thing in the restaurant ''Sunlik'" chinese beer. Ordered 1/2 duck which turned up with a few pancakes and a pitiful amount of cucumber and spring onion No wonder at 80p for every extra pancake. The staff were a bunch of girls who were pleasant but the service was chaotic. Dressed in T shirts, dresses , tracksuit tops, Or whatever they found at the bottom of the bed. This is not there fault. We then ate 3 different very average, main course meals When a waitress arrived to clear up it was obvious they had no training at all. She collected all the pots and plates held them against her clothing and walked off with noodles rice and sauces running down her top....comedy. There was no atmosphere in the restaurant, no music no ambiance at all. We had another drink as the beer was good ,just to prolong the use of the table too an hour and a half , we had felt rushed and they wanted the table from the moment we walked in. The barman was an ageing 40 year old who reminded me of 'Benny' out of 'Crossroads'. If your old enough to remember. He was wearing a red Umbro sweatshirt. Red/pink wooly hat over his shoulder length hair. Not a good look in , serving drinks in a reasonably well established and expensive business concern. Came to pay and noticed 10% service charge. Which does not normally happen at small restaurants to my knowledge and I haven't seen it b4 and I go to plenty. Normally I would leave a tip ,but not on this occasion. Thanks but no thanks , a very disappointing experience that won't be happening again. This review is not aimed at the waiting on staff, they had no training. Uniforms etc and did there best.

Ate the buffet here Sunday evening for all the family, three adults one child. Food great, service outstanding. Dave the magician came round at the end doing tricks at the table. Made the kid’s night.

I cannot fault Rainbow 88. We have been coming since it first opened nearly 24 years ago. We moved out of the area and still make very regular trips to eat here. The food is gorgeous, the decor is really nice and it has a lovely ambiance, the staff are all lovely, even the owner takes time to chat to customers when the restaurant is busy. As I said we regularly eat here and order deliveries to the house. They do a full gluten free menu ( my son is celiac) so we go as a family and not worry about food for our son. I recently brought a very fussy friend for a meal, she is now in love the food. You must try the shredded crispy chicken it’s delicious.

I had my 60th birthday celebration here but I wanted it to be about family and our memories. I met Linda and Steven to ask for help with my ideas. They helped recreate food we had in Singapore when we lived there in the 1970's. They helped with surprises to jog our memories and show my grandchildren what life there was like. Steven presented my final gift to the family - a dragon dance! I really can't thank Linda, Steven and all the staff enough, the food, staff and atmosphere were superb, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you everybody.

This place is not as good as it used to be. The prices have gone up which is completely understandable due to the cost of living however the quality of the meals are poor

This is a review of a takeaway not a restaurant visit. Rainbow is very much a member of the local community with its themed evenings and great charity work. They work hard to provide a nice environment and interesting decor. Usually the food is of a good standard but there are slips and tonight was one of them. Crispy sweet and sour chicken would have been better labelled gelatinous. Curried chicken samosas had little curry and were sloppy. Fried rice was like boiled rice with some bits of egg. Mini ribs were dry and tasteless. As the restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday, I felt we got the leftovers from Sunday. In line with many restaurants suffering increasingly massive overheads, the prices have shot up but unfortunately, the quality has fallen to a level that is no longer viable. I really hope they can recover their original standards.

All I can say the customer service was fantastic the food was delicious and Magic David was great entertainment. The toilets are all so clean. This is the first time I went with my children and my children absolutely loved it. I recommend this restaurant.

Our first family meal out since lockdown and we couldn't have chosen anywhere better. Food was fantastic and the new menu was amazing. Staff were friendly and service was quick. All covid rules were being observed,tables spaced out, staff wearing face coverings,everything felt clean and safe.The magician went down a treat with all the family. Given the difficult times we are managing at the moment eating out can be a tricky thing. Often the food can be secondary to the atmosphere but atmosphere can be hard to generate with social distancing & mandatory mask wearing. But fear not because Rainbow88 have everything you need, yes there’s a need to distance, yes there’s hand sanitiser required, yes the staff are masked & discrete but more importantly, despite all that the atmosphere is great. The main lady, Linda, is a whirlwind of friendliness & knowledge & her staff are attentive but not overly so. The food, well that’s fabulous. We had a mixed starter that was to die for & main each which, sadly, left no room for desert. Beers, wine & coffee were all imbibed & ultimately, my wife & I were left fully sated & wondering why we don’t come more often. Highly recommended & having been pre-covid we can honestly say that Rainbow88 has lost nothing despite the restrictions. Come, eat, drink & be merry!

If i could give more than 5*s i would! We love it here, food is amazing , staff amazing never felt so welcome anywhere else. Me and my daughter are coeliac and the gluten free menu is brilliant. My daughter is autistic and really enjoys the magician its a real treat for us as we dont manage to get out often. Great to be back! This was our first meal back at Rainbow 88 since February and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The food was outstanding as always & staff were very welcoming. We could see that health & hygiene was a top priority for them. All staff wore masks, tables were well spaced apart & were clean & clear until we sat down, knives & forks were brought with the meal, another review complained about that but I thought it was a great idea as you know they’re fresh & clean & haven’t been out on the table for a while or for other people to touch. Overall a lovely experience where we felt safe and able to enjoy a lovely meal of delicious food, thank you Rainbow 88 keep up the good work !

We had a meal delivered to our home from this restaurant and we really enjoyed it. I had ordered a vegan meal and it was very tasty and my husband enjoyed the meat option too. Sometimes I find Chinese food to be quite salty but this wasn’t. We will definitely order again as it’s one of the best we have had. Thank you.

We went there for a meal with family to take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. They were very busy and the service was slow. Two of us ordered the crabmeat and sweetcorn soup. It was bland and the crab meat was a crab stick in the soup. The main courses were brought and we didn't even have any plates or cutlery. By the time we got them the food was going cold. Overall a below par experience especially if we would have had to pay full price.

We really enjoyed our first dinner out for ages at Rainbow 88. The food was outstanding as always. Rest assured that Linda and the team are working so hard to maintain the highest possible standards of hygiene. And most importantly, the highest possible standards of cold Sunlik beers. Great night!

Not been here since February. But felt safe and very comfortable tonight. Staff all masked up, tables well spread apart. Staff made us feel welcome. The food was top notch, everything was so nice, planning our next meal out already. Also it was very cool indoors.

I have been here several times now and I absolutely love it. Went for the All You Can Eat Sunday Buffet which is excellent value. You can order what you want from the buffet menu and at the moment, I think due to Covid restrictions, everything you order gets served fresh directly to your table. I don’t eat meat and there was plenty of vegetarian food. I had sweetcorn soup, prawn crackers, vegetable samosas, vegetable spring roles and salt n pepper mushrooms for starters. The curried samosas are particularly gorgeous. Everything is so nice that I ordered a second plate of starters and for the main course I had mixed vegetables, soft noodles and fried rice. The staff are so lovely and really look after you. I do love this place and I am going again very soon.

Ordered a take away for our anniversary and while the prawns and duck were ok for my wife my meal was dreadful. I had the "golden delight" which was a cold dish of shredded deep fried potatoes. The vegetarian singapore noodles were equally cold and tasteless. Finally the chilli fried rice had neither chillies or been fried. Will never use again. Sorry. Seems ok for meat eaters but terrible for veggies.

Had a fantastic takeaway delivered last week, All the food arrived piping hot and was delicious. We have been self isolating since mid March so it was lovely to have a meal delivered to our house with all safety checks in place.Today a meal was delivered by Bramhall helping hands from Linda of Rainbow 88. We booked Rainbow 88 for my sons birthday. There was 15 of us of various ages. It was fantastic! Plenty of choice, piping hot and delicious! There was a magician on who went round the tables and kept everyone entertained brilliant idea. The staff were very friendly and helpful even though they were rushed off their feet as the restaurant was very busy. We will definitely be going again.

What a wonderful evening! The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive throughout our time there.The food is magnificent, the best Chinese food I have eaten! So much choice and good-sized portions. Most importantly,various food intolerances and specialist diets are catered for without fuss.I will not hesitate to recommend to friends.

Rainbow 88 have been established for many years. We have visited on many occasions and always receive the same service and quality of food. The owners and staff are extremely welcoming and no request is too much trouble. The food is always good quality with fresh and tasty ingredients.I would recommend this restaurant to families, couples, businesses and events equally. You will all receive delicious food in pleasant surroundings.I should mention that the owners of Rainbow 88 also do a lot for charities and local events with fundraisers and even psychic nights. We have been at the restaurant when live acts have been on and they even have a resident magician who amuses young and old alike.If you enjoy good quality, delicious Chinese food, with entertainment thrown in; then you must try Rainbow 88. We love visiting Rainbow88, we always get a warm welcome from the staff and the food is plentiful and very tasty. Our children love it, as do we. I think the amount of money that has been raised for charities by Rainbow88 is amazing..I have been to a few charity events now and they are always good fun with great food. Had a late valentines date with my husband due to me been away with work last week. Decided to have a buffet at Rainbow88, well what to say? The choice was great for the starters, fell in love with a sliced cold beef and ginger, Amazing. They had about 12 different choices of mains so had a little taste of each. Again amazing. Pudding was fab, had jelly, cake and fruit. The service was friendly, quick and they made you feel so welcome. I have nothing negative to say about today. Can’t wait to go again.

I'm not local so unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of the buffet which looks stunning. However, I attended a Stockport County event here and i can honestly say the food was amazing. The restaurant was busy with the event, food came out all together and was hot and very tasty. The staff were all pleasant and courteous. The owner is truly amazing, especially for all the charity work carried out (there are posters proudly on the walls). A lovely place, just wished I lived closer. keep up the great work.

this is the worst chinese i have ever been to in my life the food was scarse it was kept warm by candles and no choice what so ever ! we couldnt leave especially when the owner started singing if you can call it that.

Rainbow 88 food never disappoints, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We were there to celebrate two teenagers birthdays (13 & 15) and their younger brother (7) was also in the party. It was busy but the service was still good with no delays. As it happened to be the seventh night of the fifteen day Chinese New Year, They laid on an impressive Lion Dance (and a Unicorn Dance). One of the great delights of the restaurant is what a great contribution it and its owner make to the local community. The table entertainer had the younger ones spellbound and the older ones in stitches. A specially superb night in what is always a great resataurant.

Been asked by TA to do a review - thought I had but can't find it, So ........... Visited as a large family party on a Sunday afternoon for the buffet. Reception fine. Staff very friendly & very polite. Numerous family groups for the various bills and the staff were excellent at keep track of drinks for the individual family bills. Not the biggest choice of dishes available at Chinese buffets but what was available was very enjoyable. The Magician was a brilliant add on for the youngsters my 4yr old Granddaughter was very wary at first but eventually joined in and enjoyed. Would definitely visit again as local Chinese buffets are now few and far between.

We really enjoy eating at this restaurant. The food is tasty (especially the veggie curried samosas) and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. They make you feel really relaxed and seem genuinely interested in every single one of their customers. I really like that they do so much for charity too! Can’t wait to visit again soon!

Lovely Chinese restaurant. Went for a family birthday celebration meal. 4 Adults and an 11 year old. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we had the set Banquet meal with a minor variation for the child's starter. Meal was superb and the surrounding were very nice and appeared to be very clean. Will go back again.

We visited the restaurant over the christmas period. The food was good but the service was very poor. Had to wait over 40 minutes between courses.We had the main course delivered at separate times so some of us were finished before overs started. I complained to the waiting on staff who told me they kitchen is busy doing takeaways.

Myself and my friend come here regularly, the staff are amazing and cant do enough for you, if there is a problem (which there rarely is) they sort it very quickly for you. The food is always very hot and served promptly even on busy days we had bbq spare ribs, and salt and pepper chicken wings and main was lemon chicken, sweet and sour chicken egg fried rice and chips .
