Railway Hotel in Carmarthenshire

Its my local and the only pub in the village. Attended a very good quiz and curry night in aid of local nursery group.

Wonderful food, accommodated our party of 4 coming in late, even though there was a catered party. Generous, kind staff. Highly recommended.

Absolutely wonderful food and very helpful staff, always ready to assist. We were made very welcome.

A little gem! It's a locals pub, but there really friendly. Staff were all good. Food was really good. Some microwaved but ingredients were very good. We used as a stop off in our motorhome. Well worth a visit. We were early arriving so smelt the wood burner (a good smokey smell) coming allive during the night. Within hours it was super hot in the pub. I would recommend to anyone, and more than happy to return. Meeting Terry next door is a must if you like Trucks/cranes/Hydraulics. We left one over the bar for him. Hopefully he'll get it!

I brought my daughter here for food and was shocked to discover that the F word and C word is normal, acceptable language at this establishment. Horrible experience. Never going back.

Bit dark and dismal, but the staff were A1!! The beer was good, the place was busy so that's always a good sign...I would go again.

Motorhome stopover We received a very warm and friendly welcome here . The railway hotel is large traditional pub made up of several cozy areas all nicely decorated . The food was home cooked (a very rare find), delicious and very reasonably priced. I had chicken and bacon pie which was stuffed full of delicious meat and bacon. I would definitely recommend dining here. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Friendly pub nice staff clean quick service

I'd love to say it was amazing, but for me I really was let down with the food. My party loved theirs but 1 oval bowl of veg for 6 people was insufficient. My dinner arrived barely warm, I waited for someone to come over, and eventually it was taken to the kitchen to be re warmed by my partner, no apology about poultry being cold and the gravy congealed, no sorry for that at all, would have been nice if they said as a gesture we will only charge half, or anything, it was handed back, with no word no apology from the waitress, and when hubby paid the bill we didn't get any reduction, or an apology. I've always supported the Railway with each new owner, and until today we've been very impressed, I was given a starter off Menu which was lovely and I thanked them, but no apology for a cold roast chicken dinner, and having to ask twice for extra veg I'm sorry but that's really poor customer service. I'll wait a while and see if it was a one off or if the trend continues.

Great pub, excellent food, lovely friendly staff

Really lovely welcome from the bar staff. Within 60 seconds we had our drinks in hand and had been shown to our seats. Roast dinner was on the menu, and our order was taken quickly, and delivered quickly. Waitress came back mid way to check all was well. Food was very nice, meat was juicy and tasty (pork, chicken and beef). It was lovely that they had kids cups available for our two young children. Sometimes it's the small things! Toilets very clean, accessible and also had facilities for baby changing. Seems like a place that's really trying hard. Would recommend 🙌

My husband and I had a gorgeous meal here this evening. We’ve eaten here many times and the food is always great. A lovely welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Although the food was very nice it wasn't very welcoming and the guy behind the bar had no clue about customer service. That said our waiter and the lady who brought our food were lovely.

The food was fantastic, the staff couldn't do enough for us and had a good laugh with them will go back. Sunday lunch was fantastic to hope you have a good apatite.

We been in Wales for a few days to visit some places and we add Railway hotel to our vizit list to try food and drinks due to amazing reviews from other people. We can just say it it was one of the best place we eat in UK, from: playthings , good cooked meat , amazing taste, and the best Staff ever. This cand be compared with star Michelin restaurant.

Absolutely superb, this was our 2nd visit and another fantastic meal and welcome. Dogs spoilt rotten too 🐕🐾👍

Stayed in the car park for two nights in our campervan. What a lovely pub. Really friendly and the food was incredible. There was a large crowd of our family and all the food came out at the same time. Excellent place to eat and drink.

Probably the friendliest pub I've been to. Good food and good choice even catered for my diatery needs, the chef seems to really care about whats being produced ,good beer including gluten free, beautiful decor, helpful attentive staff. Really can't fault anything. Happy customers

Very tasty, reasonably priced, superbly presented, relaxing ambiance, have eaten here before and will eat here again. Mushrooms, Whitebait, Lasagne, Scampi, Tortilla and the desserts highly recommended. Sorry only took 1 photo, too busy eating and chatting.

Had an amazing meal here and in my opinion it is on the same par as gastro pub food. I thoroughly enjoyed the creamy garlic mushrooms, the scampi, and the white chocolate and marshmallow mousse. It was all very well presented and the hosts were very good. Highly recommended.

Called in after biking in Brechfa. Good welcome and a lovely Sunday dinner. Big car park that accepts motorhomes overnight. 👍

Stayed in our camper van overnight for free, as long as we ate in the pub. Lovely food and great service, would recommend.

We changed our booking twice before finally getting to eat here. The staff were more than helpful when changing the booking and when we arrived they were even more helpful. My fiancée and I both ordered the nut roast Sunday roast, this was where it became even better. Finally was the desert of vegan choc cake and cheesecake which were brilliant. I can not speak more highly of the food and service we were given. Please eat here. P.S although it was a Sunday and the only menu was a roast the standard menu has a large selection of vegan/vegiterian options.

Has been good in the past new management so have to wait and see. No food on the day i called in.

Nice homely pub with rustic decor. Tasty cavery and good variety or deserts. However miss matched furniture makes for very uncomfortable seating. The starter choices were terrible, we chose parsnip soup - which was horrific, flavoured with so much curry powder it was basically a curry soup, far too hot and thick, four of us couldn't finish it. Wouldn't return.

Lovely atmosphere, log fire on a cold winter's evening, what more could you ask for. And a good pint.

The pub and restaurant were just opened the day before. Not everything was quite ready and the palace still smelt of wet paint but what a nice friendly pub. The staff and customers were genuinely friendly and didn't laugh to much at my attempts at Welsh phrase's. If you fancy a nice meal or a friendly pint this is a super local pub. Don't expect big screens or neon juke boxes.

Our dog club had their christmas meal here and they catered for 25 people. The food was excellent, more than 5 ☆ the food was really lovely, the carvery was good, plenty of it and the service was very good too highly reccommend and will be using them again next year

I'd love too give a 5 star but i can't. The pub itself is very clean and staff are very friendly. However my food was not. I ordered a rare steak and it was like chewing rubber 😑, i actually had jaw ache and gave up on eating it. I should have said something at the time, but I'm someone who doesn't like to make a fuss. My fiancè had a steak and ale pie and he said the meat was also chewy but not as bad as the steak. The portions arent much for the price. On a positive note the cheesy garlic bread was superb!

The sign said great food and a warm welcome and it was telling the truth. Despite being busy and seemingly only one waitress on duty she did an excellent job. Prompt, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent, I had a lunch time steak, a smaller portion accurately described and cooked to my request well with home made chips and some peas. The kids had burgers and meatballs/pasta and were equally impressed. It was reasonably priced and toilets clean etc. The railway hotel is not far from main tourist routes but a welcome change from the cr*p generally offerred at the service stations. So if you are nearby do yourself a favour and give it a go. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Difficult to find but a place you must go too, the food is exceptional and way above standard with chose of menu to suit most people including children. The Railway Hotel is a converted station with an oldie worldly interior. Its run by a young couple who know how to please. Give it a try you wont be disappointed.
