Rang up to ask if they offer Gluten free…. Yes! Brilliant! Or do I thought….. They fry Gf batter in the same fryer as normal food!! No good for the GF/coeliac community! Some people need educating on Cross contamination!

Miserable old woman who i think is the owner seems to have a bad attitude towards her customers, she is nasty, rude and downright obnoxious, its a lovely busy little business yet she (the old woman) does not seem to like anyone. On a bright note however the food is very good with excellent chips and great fish.

Bought two lots of fish bites and chips on deal. However the lady which I assume is the owner had appalling customer service. Had children with me and asked if I could have the topping (beans on the side) she insisted that topping came free (not mentioned) and that they go on top of the chips or not at all. It was difficult enough trying to manage kids in heat never mind owner (presumed) being pathetic about not putting beans to one side. I've been supporting them for years and was appalled with how rude she was to myself a loyal customer!!

I'm really pleased that we have such a top class Fish & Chips shop in our local village. This fish is always excellent quality with a light batter that is not at all greasy and the chips are crisp on the outside with good quality floury potato inside. The only fault is that it is only a take away and there is no where to sit and eat which is such a pity because no matter how good quality the fish and chips are wrapping and taking them home them spoils them a little.

My wife and I stopped at the local pub The Ship inn to sample some food l however as they wasnt serving we decided to go the the Raglan Fryer......Big mistake. We firstly arrive in the shop and the older lady behind the counter was very loud and very brason. (Very common)The young girl took our order (she was nice) I asked for a meal deal which is chips fish bits and a topping of your choice. I kindly asked if I could have a pot for my curry sauce as we was travelling home to eat them and the older lady (must be the owner) shouted that pot need an extra charge! I said oh ok why is there an extra charge she just said there is! 40p for a pot!! And walked away very rude and very unprofessional. The poor young girl who was serving us looked horrified. My wife then asked for chips and battered sausage and said could I please have the middle one? She was then told NO! You have the 1st one we come too. Again very rude. The lady was like this to the customers in front of us too and that should of been a warning sign. Once home the food was soggy and greasy, so much so the grease was running off my fingers when I picked up the fish. Disgusting attitude, disgusting food. Management needs a sense of humour transplant and value her customer more. Chips in Raglan anyone???? No Thank you.

fish and chip shop was empty at 6pm, so I was served straight away. £2 for a small portion of chips, which is quite expensive. I didn't mind though, as the chips have always been good in the past. But when I got home, the chips were almost cold (only 8 minutes after I'd bought them) and looked like they'd been cooked back up from earlier in the day. I won't be going there again.

Have Frequently bought fish and chips which is very good, don’t know where they get their staff from, certainly wasn’t from any charm school, the younger ones have no manners and the “manager” appears to condone their lacking of basic politeness.

We turned up quite late, before realising it was cash only! Staff were amazing and accommodating, waiting while we went for cash. Friendly, welcoming and genuine. A refreshing change to the normal run of the mile standard! Thank you!!

Over the past months we have found the food to be a bit less amazing than it has consistently been for many years. Glad to report that last night, it was back on form. The chips are back to fantastic:) A lovely treat.

We stopped off for chips, and currys sauce. The chippy is only a small place, and looks like it hasnt been renovated for some time. However its clean, and the staff are very freindly, and the prices are not expensive. Our chips and curry were nice enough. The chippy closes at 9 and there isnt much choice of food. Its the first time I been to a chip shop thar didnt sell kebabs.Overall though Id have have no qualms using it again.

We've tried. More than once. In fact several times, but no more. This place is increasingly shabby and in need of an overhaul. Service is perfunctory, the quality of produce is poor with excessive grease and the flavour is lacking. Such a shame.

Waited 25 mins tonight. Not worth the wait. 4 people working on a large order and noone serving the queue. If they had been a bit more helpful in explaining that there would be a bit if a wait might been more patient but the lack of communication was just rude.

Living in Raglan I have frequented this fish bar many times.I have noticed the decline in standard of food and service over the last 4 months. The reason for me writing this review today is I waited 25 minutes to be served basic fishcake, chips and small curry sauce.REALLY....Having got over the frustration of waiting for my meal I unraveled a sub-standard inedible meal. Watery curry sauce and chips that had clearly been reheated and were from the dregs of the fryer. DISGUSTING. A total waste of my hard earned cash and time.SHALL NOT return to this poorly run establishment.....I will travel to the CODFATHER in Abergavenny instead at least you know you will have a consisitent meal.

Can't believe our luck! We've moved to a lovely new home to find this gem in our village. As a bit of a F and C expert, you'd have to travel a long way to find better. Might be worth phoning ahead because they don't precook too much and tend to cook to order- not a criticism because this ensures that it tastes at it's best!

Every Tuesday I pop in for chips and mushy peas that I then take to a disabled friend's house. They open punctually, they are friendly and the chips are great. I sometimes do in on other occasions for pie and chips or fish. Great stuff. What a luxury to have on the doorstop. Just one thing: I;m from the valleys and I love my patties. I wish they did patties.

Heard a lot about this place so on a Friday evening after taking our grandson to a school due we called in for supper. The lady who served us obviously didn't want to be there and clearly didn't enjoy her job. The food was average at best and just thrown together. Don't like writing negative reviews but I'm afraid that's all this place deserves.

This is a popular local fish and chip shop... and sometime the food is excellent. But it can be a bit greasy at times and the fish is not always spot on! However on balance it is the best in the area -- better than the one five miles away in Usk IMHO
