This place was great, came in to get a takeaway after work and was greeted by a lovely young lady, she was so polite and accommodating to me and what I like to eat. Food was great, will be coming again!

Well I never thought I would be rating this Chinese take away so highly! I'm not a massive fan of Chinese food. Ordered the hot and sour soup this evening.. OMG soo good! Full of meat and sea food, and so tasty! My new go to.. I literally could eat this every day 😋 I took another customers advice, cheers mate 👍

I have been a regular customer at this place as it’s fairly near to where I live. I’ve become increasingly disappointed and I won’t be going there again. The food is adequate but they seem to be trimming back gradually on how much meat is in a portion, while the price remains the same. On the plus side it is broadly a little cheaper than the other two Chinese restaurants in Bulwark, but not by much. The main problem is customer service. If you go into the shop to order in person and the phone rings while you’re at the counter, you have to wait for them to take the phone order. One call ends, the phone rings again, and even if you’re stood there, you have to wait. This has happened, a few times to me. But the final straw today was that the phone call ended, and the man behind the counter just went off and started doing other things, chatting with the woman behind the counter, and sorting out the tray of batter whilst I (and a queue of other people behind me) had been stood there for at least a few minutes waiting patiently while he took two phone orders. If they are happy to take their customers for granted, then I’ll take my business to one of the other two Chinese takeaways nearby - at least you get service with a smile. Absolutely no sense of customer service. I can understand it once or twice, but it’s EVERY time I go in there. After today’s display of customer disdain, I won’t be going there at all anymore.

Usually my go to chippy, but after being charged £8 for a small box of chips with a handle of cheese and dash of curry sauce and a somewhat battered sausage, Safe to say I won't be returning 😔

Vile food from the Chinese, chicken tasted like rubber and was tasteless and salt and pepper chicken was soggy and nothing like salt and pepper chicken, head further up road if you want tasteful food.

Absolutely brilliant! Staff were really friendly, delivery was very quick and the food was hot and tasted fantastic. Very pleased with our order!

Excellent fish and chips , we consider it a treat to call in for our take away lunch . Basic but delicious.

£2,70 for small bag of chips it's like 3 spuds could of made this portion.

Food is fine, but they are so bloody slow on service. Looking at 15 mins just for a bag of chips!!

If you want to wait an hour for collection when told 10-15mins then go to this place.

Best tasting chips around, the couple that own it are very friendly. Love going to eat there.

Knew about bad hygiene rating but thought id risk it with the chips, witnessed chef from out the back come into counter area with raw sausages in ungloved hands but then proceed to pick up cooked products and package them up for waiting customers without washing his hands!! Terrible cross contamination, will inform relevant people! And saw your reply, yes the sink is out the back as you say ... chef never went back out the back, he carried the raw stuff through with his bare hands then stayed in counter area serving up food WTHOUT going into the back to wash his hands!!!!

Awful - service is appalling. Staff always miserable, as if customers are an inconvenience.

Controversial but my favourite chippy around, battered sausage to die for and the curry sauce is lovely

You cannot finish the chips they give you loads

Went in there yesterday for fish and chips and I was discusting 7.50 for kids size the fish was tiney and not many chips def not worth it would never go bk again

Called in yesterday, purchased chicken & mushroom pie & chips , pie nice , chips , ive never seen anything like it in my life , not sure if they got any idea what they are doing , rough is the only word I can describe them , bit embarrassed to let the bin men to collect them , politeness of staff needs to be improved

Fish as chips Poor standards of potions Especially in the miniature Cod size! Especially when they are a Premium Price. since being taken over. I now Use CODFATHER FISH AND CHIPS SEDBURY AMAZING POTIONS and excellent COD!!!

Partner just brough home a chip butty. The bread roll is literally the size of toddlers hand. Ridiculously small bread for a chip butty I can literally fit 7 chips in it. Hugely disappointed!

Worst Chinese I've ever had. The salt and chilli spare ribs were chopped into small chunks and were chewy/inedible and amounted to two ribs. The chow mein had only onion and thin noodles with watery chicken. One to avoid.

So today at 6:00pm on the 14th of October I ordered 1 mixed appetiser,a roast pork fried rice (dry) curry sauce and a bag of prawn crackers of which turned out to be the only correct thing I received. The rice I got given was swimming in bbq sauce,absolutely covered which when I have ordered the same rice before has always came without any sauce yet when I rang to ask the dream killers why they had covered my rice in bbq sauce I was told that always is,which it is not! I then asked if I could change the rice and the lady on the phone went quiet while a bloke in back ground started angrily shouting how it’s always the same and they are not changing it and that i had to have my bbq sauce sprinkled in rice...this was not all the chicken skewers in the mixed appetiser had no satay sauce on and had a strong funny off taste and the ribs that were actually supposed to have bbq sauce on were dryer than the Sarah Desert and skinnier than the camel that lives there,there was no meat at all on the bone it was like chewing on a toe nail. The onions and peppers in the satay were the size of Jupiter and uncooked the “crispy fried seaweed” more like “not at all fried seaweed” don’t even the seaweed got even close enough to the fryer to sniff it. I will never ever again be ordering from this mess of “Chinese takeaway” even if it was the last place on earth. Many thanks to the destroyers of lives that work in this establishment,you ruin my night,my week,month and the rest of my life. I suggest you all have some lessons in how to talk to other humans and hire a new chef because the one you have now may as well be taking his toilet breaks into the cartons. Peace out.

Lovely food really enjoyable food

So the most random thing just happened which warranted me to write a review. I went to get a curry tonight and thought I'd get the kids a large chips and 2 battered sausages from here. Great stuff... Ordered, paid, waited, got the food, went to car, got in the car, went to pull off and the girl from the counter comes and knocks on the window. She explained the lady had give me 2 large battered sausages rather than 2 small,..... OK.... I gave her the food back and said you'll have to bring it back out...... The little owner came over and said it was her mistake and it would now be a few minutes..... My car's running... Yeh why not, 6 minutes passes before they come out with my new large chips and 2 SMALL BATTERED SAUSAGES..... Jeeeeeez petty as hell all over 2 battered sausage sizes.Id of rather just paid the what....70p extra for the sausages!?!! Whilst I'm writing a review about the actual food, the chips are very hit or miss, sometimes fresh and sometimes taste lank and fishy. Will probably spend my money elsewhere in future.

Happily once gave the Golden Fish Bar 5stars However I have to revise that now to a one star. If I could give a zero I would. The food I had this evening is disgusting. My Partner had Chicken and cashews which was tasteless and really bland. So bad She threw it in the bin. I had Chicken and black bean sauce which was poorly cooked, chicken was tough and also very bland We had a vegetable spring roll each, these very poured out of the wrapper they were so greasy , spring rolls are supposed to have a crispy shell. These were just an inedible mess. I informed the staff by phone that We will never be back Which is a shame it had been a pleasure to get quality food from there in the past. This visit was horrendous.

Like it here - a good quality pitstop on the way home, fish and chips and Chinese takeout.

Chips were dry and over cooked, it’s almost like there chips left over from the day before hurled back in the fryer.

Food is ok however ordering over the phone is a complete shambles and ends up taking best part of 10 minutes. I feel they need to advise on who takes the orders

Great staff and service. I went in to ask them to fill my water bottle (during a bike ride), but the water was coming out hot, so they gave me a chilled bottle of spring water for free. Haven't tried the food though.

Dreadful food totally inedible, if you like grey msg slop that has no taste this is the the place for you. Avoid at all costs!

Staff are not very welcoming just because I went to Tesco they couldn't even put them in the warming plate waited 1 hour half for 2 chips not doing thus again

Food OK, but service terrible. One girl took our order, then disappeared and the replacement just ignored our order and served people that had come in way after us. As its 150 miles away, I'm unlikely ever to come back, but would tell other potential customers to leave plenty of time to visit!

Always takes ages to receive food, decent quality, the English of the owners/workers isn’t great so it’s annoying trying to order food.

The best chippy in Chepstow but that isn't saying much. The portions are a good size.

I walked in after work to order a snack I was greeted by a teenager on her phone, I asked after I ordered my food do you take card she replied no cash only whilst still on her phone. I said No problem I will go to the cash point , I had no reply when I came back (15 minutes later ) I waited another 15-20 minutes only to be asked what I ordered AGAIN I re confirmed my order with attitude they told me the price 3 people after myself walked in and ordered for the family by the sounds of there order, but still no pancake roll (30 minutes in) I received my order I said thank you but again there was no reply this is the first and last time I use this place red lantern run circles around this place for customer service, shame because the food was OK.

The food is ok, it's just a takeaway but the off putting thing is the hygiene rating as it goes from 1 to 3 and back again a few times a year. Also things don't seem great quality wise, anything with prawns has an off putting taste to it. I still occasionally get food from there but it's not my first choice

Ok food but somehow the sauce seems bought as it's identical to some of the other shops around. Good isn't bad but it does have a slight greasy taste to it - perhaps because of the fact it does both fish and chips and Chinese.

Asked for pie and chips and 'ping' pies straight out of microwave. Could have gone next door to Tesco and saved money. In all fairness, the chips were good. Won't be returning.

You normally get served quite quickly here and in terms of portion size its good value for money. However, the fish and chips are pretty average; soggy chips and dried out fish.

My local Chinese take away with British style fish and chips. Food is always pretty good but nothing that great about it. Typical Chinese takeaway. Only thing I don't like is they don't give u a ticket number or take your name. So when food is ready they just shout the order out. But when it is busy peoples order can be similiar which can lead to confusion.

Good food at a reasonable price, they even offer their full menu at lunch time if you fancy a Chinese takeaway during the day
