Quince in Thanet

Came to Quince to celebrate graduating. Wow it did not disappoint. The food was exquisite, the service was fantastic, everything was amazing! They even signed a celebration card and gave it to me which I thought was so touching. If we are ever back in the area, we will be back!

Second visit to this amazing restaurant since it opened and really enjoyed my visit , my husband loved that all the staff had signed his birthday card for him and left it in envelope on the table, I love personal touches like this, service was amazing and food was amazing my only niggle would like to see more non alcoholic drinks choice I know this is hard in a place like this I had the beef blade to start and my husband had scallops both were outstanding My husband had the wild halibut mussel chowder as main and I had the duck both were really good we both agreed the starters were the best meals we had We didn’t have any starters as we full we be back soon as we live locally to try the amazing menu that changes all the time

The boss suggested this for a business dinner with collegues based on recommendations he had from friends and we were not disappointed. Although a limited menus with a choice of 4 items for each course, the quality of any option was extremely high. I went with the venison with pomme anna which was amongst the best I've eaten in a long time. Finishibg with a rhubarb Creme brulee, I left fully satisfied and looking forward to a ruturn visit sometime soon.

Every visit just gets better. The blend of flavours in every dish is superb. So many taste experiences are the proof of exceptional chefs. Service is truly professional with knowledgeable servers. Well, we started with pastrami, sauerkraut and tempura onions. Perfect! Onwards to our main course which was venison, black pudding, celeriac and prunes with a fabulous sauce and some greens. Still drooling. My wife had the gurnard, leek and mussel chowder which she really enjoyed. Pink fir potatoes lightly fried ( I know I have never heard of them either ) accompanied the mains, tasty. Now to the dessert, chocolate fondant, apple and saffron pure and soil and malted ice cream. The ‘soil’ was chocolate not mud. Lovely wife enjoyed the basque cheesecake and rhubarb crumble. Wine was, Sauvignon blank, perfect. The menu changes frequently and all ingredients are local and of the highest quality.

As someone with a a deep love of cooking, too many restaurants fall short. Quince did not disappoint. The food was excellent, the service attentive and professional and there was a really friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Good service. Good food. Visited on a Sunday and the roast beef was cooked and carved to perfection. Simple dishes were done well, with. Imaginative touches. Good local products, including the legendary Staples Stores sourdough. Set meal prices are fair given the quality of the food.

Quince is a great local restaurant, friendly & efficient staff are just some of the elements that make this a super restaurant. We enjoyed a seasonal menu including beetroot & leaves salad with hazelnut pesto & skate& prawn terrine . For main course we enjoyed the venison & my partner the lamb both delicious & inventive. Highly recommend the basque cheesecake & rhubarb, deliciously light !

I have eaten in Quince restaurant a few times now and it never disappoints me. The menu choices are great and the food is delicious and top quality. I would highly recommend. The staff are friendly and cannot do enough for you.

I visited Quince yesterday for my birthday and oh my goodness, it was just incredible! We were greeted and seated by a lovely waiter, and discovered a little birthday card on the table, signed by all the staff which was a really lovely, thoughtful touch. The food - we were blown away! We decided to go for the set menu of 3 courses (so we could taste everything!) and each course was delicious and presently immaculately. I had the confit chicken leg with aioli, roast potatoes, creamed chard and it was divine. We cannot wait to come back again!!

At last, a top restaurant virtually on our doorstep. A truly delectable evening was had by us all, and certainly lived up to the nod it gets from the influential restaurant guide.

I have been here before although several years ago. I recalled that the food was very good although I had a roast if I recall. Having moved out of the area I hadn't returned since. Upon reading the great reviews and inclusion in the Michelin guide I decided to travel to experience Quince again. Unfortunately, I was left a little disappointed. I should clarify that Quince is great. However, with the new accolade I was expecting a little more or similar to other Michelin level restaurants. We arrived when the restaurant was full with only our table remaining. The waitress greeted us and asked for my name and then turned around and returned to the computer at the other end of the restaurant. We were then asked (from across the restaurant) to come to our table. It just felt a little clumsy and ultimately not very welcoming. The waiter was the complete opposite. We both had steak which whilst very tasty wasn't the greatest cut. The sides were nice. We both had dessert. I opted for the Pistachio and pear. Sadly, this was just tasteless. A shame as the combination sounded very interesting. Perhaps, a bad night or being the last in we were just unlucky. From a cost perspective it's not cheap but reasonable for the level it's at.

We had a lovely evening & enjoyed our meal. Beautiful flavours, I couldn't fault the scallop starters our server recommend both starter & mains. Service & food advice was warm & friendly. We both ordered the lamb which again the flavour combination on the plate was delicious! Sadly the lamb was not as tender as it should of been. My partner & I both agreed on that point but didn't let it spoil our meal. Reading through the reviews someone else pointed it out. I hope you take this on board and perfect the lamb because the food really is delicious. We paid the bill, on checking before leaving, we had been charged for a higher price wine at £47.00 When we pointed it out the server refunded the difference. It left a bit of a sour taste tbh. The wine & food is in the higher end price mark up of restaurants. So to then bump up our bill made my partner question if we would return? Which is a shame because it's a lovely dinning experience other wise. Hence my 4 star rating which should of been a 5 star!

What a fabulous restaurant! Five of us recently had the pleasure of celebrating a birthday at Quince and we were absolutely blown away by the experience. The food is simply outstanding. Beautifully presented and packed with flavour. The service at Quince was impeccable. We were warmly greeted and Ben made excellent recommendations regarding the food and wine. He was also very attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed. The atmosphere at Quince is warm and inviting. The dining room is beautifully decorated and the tables have good space between them. It's the perfect place for a special occasion or a romantic dinner for two. We highly recommend Quince to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience.

Fantastic! We have visited Quince before for lunch but booked in the evening to celebrate a 60th Birthday. A lovely touch was a Birthday card on the table when we arrived and friendly attentive service from start to finish. The seasonal menu was wonderful and all cooked to perfection. Wesgate on Sea is so lucky to have a gem of a restaurant.

Fantastic new place with astonishing food. The Orange duck was generous and phenomenal, the pistachio cream with salty pastry unique and delicious. The pommes Ana (potato slices) were at French gastronomy level. Excellent wine as well. Quince is a true gem, nice and quiet, run by a very friendly couple. Coming from Margate it was a true culinary experience.

When we made our booking, we told the restaurant that we needed to eat gluten free & gluten and dairy free. When we arrived and were shown to our table, the waiter knew we had food allergies and made us welcome and comfortable. I had the 3 course menu and my partner ordered from the a la carte menu. The food was served in a timely manner without being rushed. The serving staff engaged with us without being intrusive and were friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty and with good portions. I have recommended this restaurant to my friends.

Beautiful food accompanied by amazing wine and service

Oh what a complete joy this was. I was invited to go there for a celebration with a friend. The greeting and atmosphere were polite and warm. The waiters were attentive but not overbearing. The menu was a delight. Squid that melted in your mouth for starters, lamb cooked to perfection with artichokes and tasted like proper lamb, roast potatoes, scrunchy, kale side dish - I have never tasted kale so good. Seasoned to perfection. Desert: figs and pistachios This little gem is second to none in all aspects - quality, quality, quality. £90 per head with a bottle of wine and 10% but worth every single penny. Thank you

Was excited about trying this new, high-end restaurant. The service was great, with our waiter taking time to explain what was in each dish. Everything was beautifully presented. Starters of apricots, ham hock terrine, main of lamb, and Eton mess dessert. My lamb was perfectly cooked and the texture of each item was perfect. I found most of the flavours quite subtle for my taste as I love striking savoury flavours, but I think what you have here is good food cooked well, rather than attention - grabbing palate sensations. The only fly in the ointment for me was the 12.5% service charge added to the bill, for just two diners. This really is not the done thing in Britain unless you have a large group, and I resented it as Quince is already priced at the very highest point for the area.

Our first visit with friends for Sunday lunch, and a great time was had by all. A small menu as changes pretty much daily, as well as a set 2/3 course Sunday lunch menu. The Cuttlefish risotto is was fab! The shoulder of lamb and pork tenderloin dishes were very good too. Excellent wine list and we were royally looked after by Ken & Ian the front of house team. Highly recommend if you love great food, service and atmosphere.

I've eaten at a great many places in UK and this is the first that showed such arrogance and lack of understanding about what good service is.. This isn't a place that puts customers first. All I had was ok apart from the main course which was really overcooked and rock hard, lamb is supposed to be soft and tender .. The chef disagreed and that was that. I was told it was a "matter of taste" So beware if you aren't in agreement with the commander chef, you'll be paying out for food you don't eat or like. Won't be returning, what a shame and a let down. I'm sure they'll try and come back with some smart answer to this, but fact is they showed arrogant, dismissive ignorance.

Oh. My. Word. A good selection of cocktails and wines and non alcoholic drinks. The menu changes regularly and didn't disappoint: locally sourced, seasonal and cooked to perfection for both vegetarians, pescatarians and meat eaters. The food was delicious, the service attentive but not rushed. Great attention to detail from the fresh flowers, linen napkins and the bill delivered in a card of the restaurant drawn by a local artist. A really lovely evening.

We went to Quince for the first time last night. Have to say the food was great, the service exceptional, the ambience friendly and warm. This restaurant went straight into my top 5 in Thanet and we'll definitely be going back.

Recently discovered this restaurant, and planned a trip to Kent with this as the focal point. To make a day of it we popped into the Hornby Visitors Centre first. Great warm welcome on arrival, slightly early for our 1pm booking. Offered drinks, whilst we looked at the options, either a two/three course prix fixe or an A la Carte. Good chat over allergies and what we could have, and what if any adjustments would be needed. In the end we had - confit new season leeks with goats curd, candied walnuts - ham hock terrine with celeriac remoulade and toast (GF) - gin cured trout, golden beets and apple. Mains Monkfish, fennel and burnt orange Portobello butternut squash and poached duck egg. Doddington lamb middle Jerusalem artichoke, Hispi cabbage and roast spuds as sides These selection covered 75% of the the menu of starters and mains. These were frankly outstanding, brilliantly cooked, well presented and really tasty. The meal was an absolute joy to eat. Staff are keen to ensure everything is enjoyable and set us up for the dessert options, panne cotta, orange cake and cheese. These were just as good as what had gone before. Even had a chat with the husband and wife chef, and front of house, making the day even better Thanks Quince team a special day.

Absolutely fantastic spot - food and wine was excellent. It's pricey, but pretty confident in saying it's well worth it. Really vibrant atmosphere the night we went - probably not one for a quiet, romantic meal but we enjoyed it being lively and always fun to look into an open kitchen. Menu was small but good selection and the quality of the cooking was superb. The venison especially was great and I can't think of the last time I had something so good. Wine list was really good; you'll find something you like and for the price, felt like you were getting more than you'd typically pay for. As always with fancy restaurants, it was a disappointing beer selection, although what they had was perfectly drinkable (just wish restaurants would put the effort into the beers like they did wines!). Service was excellent. Well worth a look if you find yourself in Thanet - out performed a lot of the 'big' names in Margate as far as I'm concerned.

After reading about Quince in last month's Michelin Guide email for their set-price lunch menu. We emailed them to see if they could deal with allergies. It was easy to book. We arrived a little bit early after going on a diversion around the back of Margate, where we started our day. Looked at the set price menu and went for their main menu. They checked with the chef about what I could eat due to my black pepper allergy. I could have the majority of the menu with tweaks. We chose for starters: Confit New Season Leeks with Goats curd and candid walnuts, Ham Hock Terrine with Celeriac Remoulade and Toast and Gine Cured Trout with Golden Beetroot and Apple. Mains: Monkfish with Fennel and Burnt Orange, Portobello, Butternut Squash with Poached Duck Egg, Doddington Lamb Middle with Jerusalem Artichoke and Anchoiade. Puddings: Cote Hill Blue, Quince and Parkin, Panna Cotta with Forced Rhubarb with Shortbread and Blood Orange and Almond cake with Angostura Cream and Orange Segments. All the dishes were really tasty and fresh. Nothing was too much hassle For a restaurant that's only been open 8 months. They have a massive following. Highly recommend.
