Fresh cod and chip a bit pricey but cooked fresh, reasonable amount of chips too. Staff are friendly and helpful. Shop looks clean and food doesn't disappoint..

Absolutely awful experience with Queens head fish bar!! I ordered a cheeseburger meal and a veggie burger meal, and NO ONE told me there’s no such thing as a “meal” option. Instead, they charged me separately for chips — £6 for some basic fries — and on top of that, £1 extra for salad in the burger. Seriously? At this point I was already annoyed, but I thought, fine — if the burgers are good, maybe it’s worth it. Well, they weren’t. The cheeseburger was completely undercooked. Liquid literally came out of the meat when I bit into it. Not juicy — raw. Completely not ready to eat. Absolutely disgusting and unsafe. I won’t be ordering again, and I honestly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Total rip-off and a health hazard. Avoid.

Absolutely dreadful experience at Queen's Head Fishbar. Avoid at all costs! I placed a simple order: two pieces of chicken breast, chips, and a curry sauce. While I was unfortunately distracted by a phone call, they saw fit to exploit the situation and attempted to charge me a staggering £9.05! When I finally managed to get a look at the receipt, it became clear how they'd pulled this off. Instead of a standard meal deal price, they'd rung up each item individually, inflating the total beyond belief. Let's break this down: * Two pieces of chicken breast: In most UK chippies, this should be around £3.50 - £4.00, maximum. * Chips: A standard portion is typically £2.00 - £2.50. * Curry sauce: Usually around £1.00 - £1.50. Even being generous with these prices, the entire meal should have cost somewhere between £6.50 and £8.00. Charging £9.05 for a single person's meal of relatively inexpensive items is outrageous. To add insult to injury, after a lengthy verbal back and forth, the man working there begrudgingly "downsized" my meal, shoving it into a smaller box, and then still had the audacity to charge me £7.75! So, they reduced the portion size, presumably to reflect a lower price, but still overcharged me. In the current UK economic climate, where people are struggling with the cost of living, this kind of blatant overcharging and manipulative behavior is unacceptable. It's a rip-off, plain and simple. Do yourself a favour and find a chippy that values its customers and offers fair pricing. This place clearly doesn't.

I’ve been seeing a couple of nasty reviews about this establishment recently so I wanted to voice my own review because honestly these hard working people deserve every 5* rating they have and much more, I’ve been coming here for many years since they first opened. They have fantastic customer service and treat you like family, their food is by far the best in Birmingham and you know damn well it’s excellent quality, I’ve seen people on here saying it’s “pricey” but it really isn’t, if me and my wife order food online from a different establishment we’re looking to spend at least £60, here we always pay between £20-£30 for a family of 3, this is amazing and I’m a big guy I eat a lot. Another thing I will say that you will notice is how well these guys work as a team, and they never screw your order up. Truly amazing traditional chip shop and staff, give these a try if you haven’t already!

Fish was not fresh, tasted old had that unpleasant old fishy flavour, all bit of a soggy mess. Stantons in Great Barr is better, cheaper too. Difficult to find any decent fish and chips in Birmingham overall, probably best leave for trips to the coast. Captain Birdseye even is better than the poop served up here. And no I'm not gonna drive all way back to the shop to complain direct to owner I'll just post it here. Thats the whole point in Reviews. In short, you can't make ice cream out of dogpoop. Keyboard warrior? I'm more of a real warrior than you think, boy. Maybe learn how to cook. As to you, I'm getting the word....NONCE

Charged me 70p just for some ketchup..!! In all takeaways around the country they never charge their customers for little sauce on the chips, never go there again bloody rip off

I'm another fan of Nick Abbot who I listen to from Maryland in the US. Ranjit is probably my favorite show caller. He is always well informed and on topic. One day I hope to visit Oldbury UK and stop into Ranjits chip shop. Keep up the good work and I look forward many many more calls!

I am so happy to see such stellar reviews for the Queens Head. I listen from New York to Ranjit every weekend on the Nick Abbot show and of all the regulars, he’s far and away my favourite (followed by Jan, Jonathan in Harrow (despite his views) and the Welsh guy in Cornwall and others). I will definitely make a detour to Oldbury when I next drive down to Wales from Heathrow, to sample Ranjits highly rated Fish and Chips and shake his hand.

Can't rate this place highly enough, Didn't realise it was cash sales only, and all ATMs locally were out of service, they very kindly trusted us to take order and bring cash back later. Food superb, remained hot on home journey. First class ☺

Chips were soft & not cooked properly, we both had a bad taste afterwards, & my wife was sick afterwards, I had to get up early be cause my throat was dry, & still nasty taste in my throat still. Pies were hard pastry & were properly heated up inside a microwave. Would now stir clear of this shop & never, return!

Me and family have been going to this chippy for awhile now the chips are awesome plus everything else we have chippy once a week for a treat and wouldn't go anywhere else locally! Staff are lovely aswell definitely recommend this chippy!

BEST CHIPPY IN Sandwell... Bar none (along with Neptune) The chips here are soooo tasty. I walk a mile past other eateries just for their chip. I should disclose that Ranjit and the family are old time friends of the family so my opinion could be biased - but taste the chips and you'll know I am not!

Utterly shocked! The food used to be brilliant from here, haven’t had it for about 2 months or so, thought I’d go back. What a mistake that was. The food was extremely greasy and simply was not the same as before. As we all know, the country is in a crisis so it’s ok to cut costs and maybe this is what Queen’s Head is doing but what I find unfair is the fact the prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. Normally the quality is excellent and tasty but after my recent experience, I left was terribly thirsty and the food went straight through me. Very unusual from this chip shop, hope this changes soon. Also, I would prefer not to be abused in your reply, as I am simply giving you constructive feedback to which I believe is actually quite helpful to your business and my answer to any comments of “say it in person” is that I prefer to remain anonymous and believe a well mannered review is not an attack towards you, simply just honest feedback, and I hope you take my well justified comments on board. EDIT/RESPONSE: “You say you want to stay anonymous but have gone public on social media HOW SAD.” When I said I want to stay anonymous, I obviously was referring to my identify, not my as mentioned before “helpful” and “constructive” feedback. My first time there tonight I was the lad in the blue hoodie ordering the donner burger by the way, I have to say hands down the best meat I've tried by a country mile at last I have found a chippy that doesn't serve its meat like tracing paper thick cut taste fantastic and the chips were piping hot well worth the drive and as for reading other people's review about the staffs attitude I can only speak as I find and I was greeted with a smile and a refreshing do you want fish which tells me they cook fresh and then seeing there lady who was serving giving a little toddler waiting with her dad sweets from a treat box to keep her happy while they waited not something you see every day as for only excepting cash and the comments on the reviews about it as a business owner my self I can understand when the card companies charge the business for the transaction but the law does not allow the company to pass that cost on fantastic food and service that's me as a regular my only complaint is that you have now messed up my eat no takeaway January ha 😀

Great chippy always busy which is always a good sign. Portions extremely large, and always hot and tasty, a very clean shop and extremely hard working and helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble. We have been using them for a couple of years and now travel from Handsworth to buy chips from here. I thoroughly recommend them 10/10. Edit :- 28/10/22. Still for me, one of the best and busiest chip shops locally. We still have our Friday night chippy tea from there on the way home from collecting my husband from work. Recommend the fish especially, yes, it takes a while because it's usually cooked to order, but it's fresh, very hot with a batter that is not greasy and is normally huge! Their chicken kebab meat is also very nice, not too spicy. Still absolutely recommended.

I haven't been in your shop but you have 5 star for LBC talks from me. Very entertaining. If Nick Abbot ask you about fish and chips each time means it is worth to visit:)

Not been here but intend to go when I’m in the area because Ranjit always calls in to LBC and is a legend. He’s very switched on. I just hope he doesn’t have to sell up with the cost of living crisis going on!

No better chipshop in the UK . Try the chicken and chips absolutely brilliant taste and cooked too perfection. Look no where else the stars and reviews says it all really. If I had one point and it's a sad down fall no card payments lose loads of trade because of this.

Excellent place, nice food and gcopd service

Used to visit this chippy quite regularly but then moved a bit further out. Decided to pay a visit and the food was amazing and priced fairly in comparison to other chip shops. Please remember to wear a mask though when visiting as it clearly states you will be refused service and there are many notices in the shop as well as outside. The shop has put in Covid safe measures to keep everyone safe. On entering you can tell the shop is really clean and the staff take pride in maintaining high standards. The food was really fresh and didn’t take long at all. They have an extensive menu - something for everyone and even have masala fish and southern fried fish on the menu for those who want to try something a bit different. Will definitely be visiting again.

Omg the worst experience ever. I have never encountered such a rude& arrogant customer service in my life.I Used all my magic words while ordering. Just asked him if we could have the fresh chips!! And the guy asked me to leave and order from some where else; and that too in such a disrespectful tone !!!! I mean are you for real?? I cnt believe ppl like that are serving customers. Even my daughter was with me& she said she's never seen such a rude person in her life. Oh well, only one word Disgusting!!!!! & my family will never be going there again!!!
