Ignore the negative reviews. One of the best chippys around. Been using it since I was a kid. They cook in beef dripping which makes it so much nicer. It’s not the cheapest but it’s the nicest and the man who works there is extremely friendly and welcoming. Top marks

Myself and my husband fancied a snack after a trip to Seaburn and got a portion of gluten free chips from Queens. They were absolutely beautiful, much nicer than rivals in Whitley Bay. Huge portion as well. We will be back to sit in next time.

Not normally one for reviews, but felt compelled to share my experience. Friendly staff, who really seem to care and enjoy their work. My son's fish was huge and my fish cake and onion rings were cooked to perfection, both meals accompanied by serious portions of chips! Offered a free sample of pulled pork, in exchange for feedback, which was warmly received. Whilst pleasantly full, couldn't resist trying the cheesecake, with 4 choices available. We got the mint aero to takeaway and it was fabulous. Highly recommend.

Firstly, whilst they do a great gluten free selection, they charge significantly more and the portions are visibly smaller. We have been visiting here for some time, but our latest visit we were left disappointed by the small portion of our gluten free cod and chips. Also, we sat inside this time and it is very clear they prioritised the takeaway section - they had 3 staff running that and just one serving the seated, this ment a wait of 20 mins just to order, and then to cook the gluten free took another 20mins. Also, the inside really needs to TLC, it must not have changed since the 80s and needs a good clean and decorate. Definitely won't sit in again, but sadly they have no competition in the area for those who are coeliac.

Popped in for fish and chips late on a cold wet evening. We got fish and chips which were perfectly cooked and a good size portionvtoo. Using beef drippimg I think makes for the perfect chip. The staff are really friendly and were so kind to our dogs. They gave them some left over sausages, which they loved. Thank you. So refreshing to receive great customer service. A good size clean cafe as well as a takeaway and dog friendly. Brilliant. The other chippies in the area are decent but these win by a mile. We are returning customers and travel over 10 miles to come here so that says a, lot.

Thought I’d fancy some fish and chips do popped along to Queens Cafe bottom of Dykelands Road. This was Friday appx 5:30. Surprisingly there was no fish ready and so had to wait for a piece to be retrieved from fridge or more likely the freezer. 10 minutes later I was presented with a box and charged £9.80 When eating it the fish was of a strange consistency definitely not cid or haddock and the chips were in the main scrag ends and hardly edible. I should have taken them back Avoid

Food always perfect here. Popped in today with my family for a meal after a long walk alone sea front. I ordered sausage, chips and garlic sause. I thought having paid £10.20 for a portion of fish and chips and a can of pop I hoped for a nice culinary experience. The service was friendly but the food was really disappointing . The fish tasted 'dry' and did not taste like cod and chips weren't also nice, lacked 'potato' flavour and tasted as though they had been fried in coconut oil? Will not return. Though must admit that the seagulls were very pleased with the massive 'leftovers'.

Having lived by the coast (North of the river Tyne) for most of my life I thought I had tasted the best fish and chips around. However, when I did a walk from South Shields to Sunderland with a friend he suggested I try the Queens cafe. Had I been on my own I would not have noticed it as it does not stand out. There was a queue which is always a good sign. The service was good and the food was really good. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

As someone from South Shields, I'm somewhat spoilt for fish and chips, however, I'm gluten free which isn't something my local chippies cater for properly. I love this place and go at least once a week. As far as I am aware it is the only one in the area that does gluten free on a daily basis. Their batter is amazing and I really love that they do gluten free curry sauce and gravy, something I've rarely found anywhere nevermind the North East, but even more important it's amazing to me it tastes better than the non gluten free sauces! They also do lovely non gluten free options according to my Mam and Boyfriend, they are very reasonably priced and the staff are always very friendly and never question when you ask for gluten free like a lot of places do! Thank you for offering gluten free options in an area where so many other chip shops don't!

I'm not sure if the photos on here do the place justice - hopefully the attached one does - as this is a great fish and chip shop! Whenever I come home, I walk from North Shields to Seaburn (via the Shields ferry and Marsden Grotto) and reward myself with cod, chips and plenty of batter from the Queens Cafe. It's always great. Nice big fish, crunchy batter, well cooked chips, and it's right next to the beach - the best place to go and eat them. It's a shame the cafe doesn't have a toilet, but I almost always take my order across the road to the picnic tables overlooking the sea anyway. Really, really good fish and chips. I'm homesick now!

We will stick to our favourite fish and chip restaurants. One in North Shields and our very favourite Harbour View in Seaton Sluice. Both of which are alot cheaper, batter good (Harbour View) best. Popped in for a takeaway cappuccino last Saturday afternoon. Although the weather was gloomy outside that could not be said of the lovely greeting I received from the 2 young ladies who were working there. Sorry didn’t get their names but the older girl maybe early 20’s with blonde hair was particularly chatty and had great customer service skills and her younger dark haired colleague was equally engaging. Just a little well done for all concerned as it becomes rare these days to meet young staff in the hospitality game who interact with customers in such an amicable manner with smiles on their faces. First impressions are key for any business and mine was top notch. Plus my coffee was very tasty.
