P&T Persian & Tandoori Cuisine in Coventry

We aren’t from the area so I relied solely on the reviews. People cannot possibly be talking about the same restaurant. We ordered from the main menu, because we wanted kebabs, and it took about 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The minced meat kebabs were all uncooked (not undercooked, but UNCOOKED)! The chicken had been soaked in turmeric so that’s all it tasted of. The young waitress girl was lovely, but the guy in charge was SCARY! He kept threatening her (I speak Persian) and he was constantly on the young chef’s case for decorating the food wrong (least of his concerns I’d think after serving raw minced meat)! We paid £40 for our meal, no apologies were made and no concessions made on the bill! The guy in charge should be investigated for abuse and cruelty for the way he was treating his staff and for the DISGUSTING meat he was selling!

We went in and had the buffet and it was the most tasty meal I’ve had for a long time. The meatballs with walnut was stunning. There was a choice of 5 or 6 hot meals with rice. There was also a huge choice of starters, hummus, chicken wings, pickled vegetables, salad, pasta dishes and we had a nice hot flat bread brought to us too. The puddings were beautiful little cakes plus melon slices and dates. I had the Turkish tea which came out in a beautiful little pot with a tea light warmer and little glasses and it was lovely. Designed to be drunk black, it was not full of tannin like English tea. The restaurant isn’t licensed. You can go as many times as you like to the buffet and it totalled £30 for two of us which I thought was terrific value since I had to be rolled home. All in all, I felt it was the best meal out with the most amazing mix of sweet and sour flavours I’ve had for a long time.

Went on a friday night. The restaurant staff were welcoming and showed us what was on the buffet. Starters, mains and desserts on the buffet was nice with reasonable variety. Chicken and lamb were good quality meats in the stews. It was quiet in the restaurant and we did not need to book. Price very reasonable. I would go back again.

There was a buffet on offer but it didn’t look too appetising but then again not a fan of buffets. Ordered from the main menu, the hummus and bread was very tasty. The mains were ok but could be better presented. The chairs are all worn and stains on the ceiling, needs a re vamp inside. Friendly staff and the bonus is you can take your own alcohol in.

We fancied something different so thought we would try Persian. We decided on the buffet as that had a reasonable amount of Vegan food. The food was great. The service was good. The environment was clean and tidy. The toilets were clean. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Had dinner with some friends and the selections were nice, the rice can be a little on the dry side but the chicken, lamb and beef dishes that we ordered were nice.

Appears to be a clean restaurant but chairs have seen better days. Dishes have some other restaurant branding, but doesn't matter too much. So we got a paneer sabzi, always found this an odd starter which I've had at other places. Unchopped leaves of dill, coriander and mint with spring onion, feta, walnuts and radishes. No dressing. With a naan. Bizarre but tastes nice, albeit difficult to eat. The koobideh we had for mains wasn't quite as juicy as I would have liked and there was a lack of sauces. However it tasted pretty good so this makes up for this.

Live very close by and was optimistic about it after seeing the reviews. Honestly, it was awful. We were one of only three tables at lunch time on mother’s day, yet somehow waited over an hour for our food. When it came one meal was missing they had completely forgotten to make it. We asked to have it taken away because the other 3 people had nearly finished eating, got it home to find a curly black hair in it. I’ve never written a review before but genuinely felt compelled to! The service is appalling.

Good selection of starters. Main course are somewhat limited. They have few selection of vegetarian however, given this is an Iranian restaurant there were no grill/kebabs, neither for starters not for the main course. Value for money : I would say it’s 3/5.

Absolutely delicious, all ingredients are fresh and taste amazing. We had the Soltani kebab and some starters. All tasted just like home cooked Persian food :)

We have been here for the buffet,it cost us 12.95 per person, there is no proper choice of buffet, very very limited choice of varieties. Utter waste if you plan to go for buffet assuming of various dishes.

Persian food is lovely. Sadly Cyrus doesn’t deliver the good bits - the kebabs are bare, the rice dill, the salad sauce-less. It’s a shame.

Okay... so we visited this place based on the reviews. When we walked in, the place was relatively quiet and then at one point it was just our table occupied. The deco is simple, appeared clean, staff seemed pleasant albeit absent ! The service could be improved, they seemed away with the fairies, and slow. Never once asked if everything was okay, or if we needed anything. We sat ages waiting for the mains only for him to ask if we were ready for them to be served...! The food does taste quite fresh, it’s nice mild and pleasant - the flat breads are quite crispy, there’s not much choice on the drinks menue. The dishes we ate were nice, I couldn’t taste the saffron in the rice but it was okay. We waited ages for tea and dessert, because the staff would just vanish, they didn’t pay attention to us. We ordered baklava and Persian ice cream. The Persian ice cream was delicious, the baklava however was horrible, it tasted old and bitter, told the staff, who vanished for ages just to come and back say they only received them on Thursday it’s from a new pack!? That’s it. The tea tasted nice, however the tea glasses and saucers are really old and looked dirty. This is a nice place, however the poor service, the baklava, and old cutlery/dishes/glasses really spoilt it for us, hence the rating.

A very nice quiet little place, ideal for family and friends, beautiful food, wonderful service, a hidden gem. They do not well alcohol however you can take your own with you. Highly recommended.

I’ve been away from Iran for 10 years and I’ve been to all sort of places to eat Persian food including many in London, we accidentally came across this place on our way somewhere and WOW the food was stunning!! It’s taken me right back to Iran. The price is decent but compared to quality it’s very cheap. The freshly baked bread was gorgeous, the food was just amazing and my dad used to be a chef in Iran so we have high standards! Definitely reocmmended!

Food still very poor. Menu poorly designed with regards to combination of meats, especially the platters which consist of mainly kofte, the cheapest and in my opinion least tasty grilled meat. Service is also slow.

Cyrus is literally around the corner from where I live. It's one of those places where I have looked at it when going the shop a few doors down and thinking "I have to try there soon". But for one reason or another never got round to it.

The food is terrible and not fresh at all. The thing is that most of starters are ready dishes and they just warm them. You can say that by its awful taste... not fresh at all and expensive for its quality.

We came for a birthday meal, and initially were surprised it was quiet. But we had a good experience here for sure! The food was great value, and there was plenty of it. The menu is set, so there isn't much scope to swap things round or make substitutions. On the whole- we recommend it.

Ordered as takeaway. Food was delivered on time but very poor quality. Rice was supposed to be saffron rice but was just boiled rice. Side salad was almost all lettuce with ingredients missing and no dressing. Very little flavour in any of the dishes apart from the aubergine dip. Not at all worth the £30 that we paid for two meals. Rang to complain and just got excuses... no acceptance of responsibility or attempt to make things right. Overall very disappointing, won't be going there again.

Si quieres probar de mucha mejor calidad y kebabs y curries y sabroso persas listos para viajar un poco más lejos, hay restaurantes persas en Birmingham o Londres (especialmente Behesht e Irán), Mahdi con el tamaño de las porciones que más probablemente no te fin.

A cozy place with a nice variety of Persian foods. I love the hospitality of the staff. They are very customer centred and friendly. Do visit this place when you're in Coventry.

Nothing wrong with this restaurant but seemed a bit wrong footed that we were not Middle Eastern. My wife struggled with finding something she fancied. Beware an alcohol free zone

Ambiance was good, service was very good, munu looked authentic Iranian but the food, the main business was not up to the mark. I ordered lamb shank that came with saffron rice. Taste was not balanced for both lamb and rice and saffron was overpowering and not going with spices in lamb curry. Same went for starters neither hummus nor falafel had balanced ingredients. We were the group of 7 people and everyone had similar views on taste.

As always, the food is delicious, price reasonable and the delivery prompt. One of my favourite takeaways in Coventry.

We came to Coventry from Leicester and came to this nice persian restaurant. Their food is so nice and delicious. The service is immaculate we felt so looked after .Their starters are so authentic that I feel like I'm eating my grandma's mirza ghasemi All in all was a lovely experience and delicious food.

This is a must-go restaurant. Food is tasty, and well-portioned, with the perfect amount of flavour. Staff was extremely patient and helpful. I had some issues with my credit card and they were incredibly understanding.

The kebabs just melt in your mouth, large servings and value for money. Each kebab comes with rice and salad (that makes it filling) - wish they had just a platter of kebabs on its own! The lamb shank is absolutely delicious- people who like spicy food, may find this cuisine a little bland, but that's the beauty of trying cuisines from all over.A must try and would love to visit again during the evenings for the buffet. Buffet is from 6-9pm.

Both stews were very oily, and we noticed that when we receive the food, the oil soaks through the boxes, onto the plastic bag and onto the table. It is very messy. I suggest that the stews and other oily food is packaged in plastic boxes instead of foil boxes - that way the oil doesn't leak everywhere, and it is easier to eat. Overall still an enjoyable meal. Thank you very much!

Lovely food and service. We had the buffet and have to say it was delicious! Partner loved it and was something different. Staff are very helpful too will definitely be returning next time we visit Coventry :-)

Great food, tasted like home! The Side Salad was a bit dry/tomatoes powdery, but the ghormeh sabzi was lovely and filling. The Persian ice cream was also beautiful, though there were some powdery bits that I didn't understand. Delivery took a little while, but there was a friendly delivery man. Popped in when the restaurants on Earlsdon high street had a 45 minute wait on. We were really well looked after and opted for the buffet which was fantastic and excellent value. It was just a shame it wasn't busier because it really should be

Drove past this place a few times and looked nice from the outside so I thought I'd try it.What a disappointed it turned out to be, arrived there and the place was empty at 5pm on a Saturday. Ordered my food and asked for all to come out together waiter told me will be out in 25mins, I also asked for a coke with no ice.Drinks arrive with ice, I politely reminded the waiter I asked for no ice.30 minutes later the waiter brings out some tea, chips and bread. We sat there for another 15 minutes with cold chips and a rock hard piece of bread!!! I asked the manager how long for the food....he replied it's on it's way and told me that as I had ordered chicken it would take more than half an hour (what????? Half an hour if you are defrosting it first mate) I questioned why on earth had he sent out bread and chips without the main, he said it was your starter........eh???? Bread and chips for starters?? Is he having a laugh!! So after eating rock hard bread and cold chips food finally arrived after 1 hour, and what a disappointment it was, bland with no flavour at all. You want good kebabs go to Sultans or Pascha!This place is a joke, the staff are a joke!Never again.

Had an odd dining experience in this restaurant. Early Saturday evening with only a few other customers. We waited almost a full hour for the mixed kebab special with our French Fries, bread and chicken wings appearing some twenty minutes sooner as some form of 'starter'.They seriously need to improve listening skills and customer service. I refuse to believe it takes 40 minutes to cook a mixed kebab.This is the first time I have actually written a full review between the starter and the main. I will update you when I have eaten the kebab, which hopefully will be sometime this year. Be right back!Update: it's been another full ten minutes. I'm stuffed with chips and bread and the Persian tea is empty and our cokes are warm. Dear oh dear.Update: another ten minutes! A full hour waiting! Finally the main course. Won't ever be back.

A very nice restaurant with excellent service and food. We were warming welcomed and the menu wasExplained. Our food was delicious and we had a great evening. Only drawback is that it's byo, however the corkage is very reasonable.

Visited here with a group of friends and we were very well looked after. Place is light and airy and very clean. You can also see directly into the kitchen which I love as it means there is nothing to hide! We had the option of eating off the menu or eating from the buffet at a set price. Having looked at the buffet and had all the foods explained to us by a willing member of staff, we opted for the buffet and were not disappointed. The food was excellent. Very tasty. The lamb dishes had been slow cooked to perfection as the meat just melted! I even had some of the vegetarian option and that was equally as nice. Overall experience was very positive and we shall definitely go back here again. Just one note to anyone going for the first time, its a 'take your own' booze place. Soft drinks can be bought but any alcohol needs to be taken in (for which corkage is charged). There is a shop next door if that helps!

Having read lots of good reviews we were curious to try this restaurant but ended up a little disappointed.The service was great and staff were clearly used to customers trying Persian/Iranian food for the first time, so they explained everything. There was a good choice of vegetarian options too.However the food was quite bland and my partner was particularly disappointed with his kebab. It was ok, but not great.It was very quiet for a Saturday night and there wasn't much of an atmosphere - the TVs didn't help.

Visited here on a Saturday evening for a friends birthday - first time I'd been here, it was a massive disappointment - the restaurant was empty even on a Saturday evening in December - I had the Buffett which was boring choices and not much to choose from and not worth £13 the stews had no taste and gave me a bad stomach all night - I do question if the food was from the night before after seeing how many people come through the door - NONE! Some of my friends ordered from the main menu and the food took nearly and hour and the restaurant was empty! Service was slow! The only plus side is you can bring your own drink but I wouldn't return! Shame as it's a nice looking restaurant!

This restaurant was recommended to me by someone on the train! She said it was the best Persian food she had tasted outside of her home - so I thought I'd give it a try. It's a bit off the beaten track for Earlsdon, but worth the extra few steps. We went on a Saturday evening and gave the buffet a try as we'd only visited one other Persian restaurant before. The food was all really tasty and it was great to be able to test out different dishes. Going again this week with friends and will definitely be having the kebab options this time - they looked amazing (I will update afterwards!). The staff were so welcoming and attentive/helpful to relative first timers - made for a great evening. Sounds obvious, but remember it's not Indian food - tastes are different and, I'd say, more delicate. Oh, and the bread is gorgeous .

As our first time here we were greeted with good hospitality and offered to eat from the menu or the buffet. We chose the buffet and had some delicious flat breads with it bought freshly cooked to our table. We found the selection of food very good however the stews were slightly sweet for our taste and would therefore order from the grill next time. We were also given complementary Persian tea as it was our first time. A good experience overall! Thanks

We go to Cyrus often for the delicious flavours and wonderful service. The grills are fresh and the stews tasty without being over spiced. The buffet is good value, especially the wonderful saffron and rose infused dessert. We highly recommend this for families, couples and gatherings.

Food quality - I remember them being better. The last time that we ordered I was not impressed. My partner loved his food though. Delivery time - they delivered almost on time. We waited over an hour. Takeaway service - the driver did not find our house. It was a bit weird, but we got our food. Overall, I would order again, just some things to notice about this place - food is slightly overpriced; it takes at least an hour to get the food (but I guess you can be sure with this persian resto that the food is freshly made).

Visited for an evening meal with friends having been here for lunch once before. The food is delicious and the environment is very comfortable and clean. The waiter (I think he's the manager) was very welcoming and enjoyed explaining Persian cuisine. We spent under £15 a head and left very full and satisfied. There was a change of management about 9 months ago and all but one of the negative reviews on here date to before then. This restaurant deserves to be much busier than it is.

My family has been a fairly regular visitor to this establishment. Whenever we visit on Friday and the weekends the service has been good however sometimes it may be a bit slow. Nevertheless, having ordered from both the main menu and the buffet, all the food has a fresh and hearty taste. The only drawbacks I would give are that the saffron rice needs a bit more pomegranate and the desserts are not very high quality.

Visited this restaurant today, on a whim. Must say, was glad that we did. The ambience was delightful, not too crowded (probably because of a weekday). But food, just one word: awesome.We tried a authentic Persian kebab dishes: Ghafghaazi and Makhsous. Both were delicious as was the Persian flat bread. Only be ready for a bit of a wait since the kebabs are made from scratch. But it is definitely worth the wait.Will definitely recommend visiting. We, ourselves, will definitely go back.

Despite its rather modern looking decor, this rather pricy restaurant serves mediocre food made with poorest ingredients not to forget lousy service. With only 8 other customers in the restaurant, it took over 15 minutes to be given the menu and another 35 minutes to be served the most popular and easily cooked of Iranian kebabs (Koobiden and Joojeh) that should have taken no less than 10 minutes from cooking to serving. There were three staff members busy in the open kitchen and two waiters all chatting away with each other instead of looking after their customers. When asked about the lateness of service and food, the lady manageress, who could barely understand English, was extremely argumentative and rude, nor could she accept why we were complaining. I generally ignore poor service when the food is good, but this is taking the mick! So, unless you have plenty of time on your hand and not bothered with quality don’t even bother reading the menu of this restaurant let alone set foot in it! Just read other people’s reviews and you will see.

A perfect visit to a truly Persian restaurant. Excellent food coupled with warmth and sincerity from owners. Here is Authentic food served to an extremely high standard. Be adventurous, and experiment with the menu - you will not be disappointed!! No drinks licence yet ( it is on its way). So B.Y.O. and have a meal to remember

Went here, hoping for something different - we opted for the buffet - perhaps that was our mistake. i guess your expectations should not be too high in terms of a buffet. The hot and cold buffet itself was fairly average. Simple selection, but not overly flavourful. Pastries were quite dry and bland. Bread was amazing, and the service was good - wouldn't write this place off as the items on the menu looked good.

It was eight of us and went on a Tuesday night from a NEC show. We were four Italians , one Irish , two English and my self as an Iranian. They loved it and the owner was extremely helpful , polite, friendly. We shall return next time we are in the area or visiting NEC. Excellent service. My only point reduction was due to kobideh. I have had better in London. Otherwise very good.

Absolutely delicious. I am not very familiar with Persian food so thought I would give it a try. It was absolutely delicious! I tried several dishes just to get a feel for it and was really impressed with all of them.

The delivery charge is pointless especially when the order arrives after 1hr 30mins of placing it. As for the food it was decent but doesn't justify the price. Really disappointed overall

I am half Iranian and its hard to find the famous Iranian stews and rice dishes. this place does them all. Very inviting hosts and clean and atmospheric place to enjoy the food.

My Persian partner and I have visited this restaurant twice and both times the food was amazing!!! We live in London and we have visited most of the Persian restaurants here but we haven't found a better koobideh than the one from Cyrus. We love the decorations, the lady serving us was fantastic, we had a really great time. Thank you!!!

We have been eating from Cyrus for over 2 years now. My Husband and I are big fans of Iranian food so when we tried this place for the first time we were pleasantly surprised that we found something so good right and so authentic at our doorstep! We now regularly order takeaway and have not once been disappointed at the quality and generous portions. Thanks to your team for giving us authentic and delicious Iranian food. We had started to lose hope over what the Coventry food scene had to offer but you guys are our only choice for eating out now.
