Good variety menu with interesting specials, great value for money, very good potato place

Cold potato, flavourless, not crispy skin - definitely not worth the high price tag of £6.50 for tuna & cheap cheese, nice friendly service and large portion size but I won't go back.

Have tried a few times since it has changed hands and find the toppings are very hit and miss, sometimes its proper chicken, sometimes its the processed type and the coleslaw was very strange on my most recent visit. Potatoes wasn't as crispy skin so not sure if ovens have changed ?

Two visitors from Ireland to Yorkshire were most impressed by the offering at The Proud Potato: large potatoes with generous fillings ably served by two very cheerful young Yorkshire lasses. A little out of the way from central Sheffield, but well worth getting to ! Anne Marie and Noel

The food here used to be superb when the original owner had it. It has swapped hands a few times since then and the food quality isn't what it was. The 3 things of note: The white cheese used to be really strong and fine, it is now factory grated flavourless cheese. The chilli used to be really spicy and really high quality, it is now not spicy [that makes it bolognaise-get some chill whacked in!] and get back to using the better mince. They used to spend a while mashing the butter into the potato which isn't done any more. It is these little attention to detail that set is apart and mad the price tag worth paying. It is a shame as we used to go 2-3 times a month, but unless some changes are made I don't think we will be using it much any more.

My partner and I have just had potatoes from here, used to go when it was under old management and it was really nice. No veggie chilli, portions were ok but both the potatoes were cold, tried to call them rather than write a review but telephone number no longer in seevice

Pricy small potatoes, woman could not put filling in potato as she had no dexterity in hands, didnt mash it up, put butter on top and cheese round the edge of the box and maybe a spoon full. Used to go there years ago and was fab. Now new owners penny pinching with low quality items and portions. Omg and £5 for the tiniest potato.

World Class Jacket Potato with a range of fillings. Open on Match Days at Hillsborough for the pre match meal of choice (especially for non meat eaters)

Called into The Proud Potato 🥔 on my way home from a long drive. Friendly staff, nice and clean and the Chilli and Cheese was absolutely fantastic!! Thanks very much, just what the doctor ordered.

Hardly any toppings when ordering a large potato and also expensive. The lady behind the counter seemed hungover also not professional

We live at the other side of town so always check on the site if it's open everytime we have turned up it's closed when it should be open Very disappointing

Always have garlic butter and cheese always never disappointed, the lad on the till was lovely

3 x large potatoes for our family tea yesterday, really hit the spot (I read the reviews saying they are not big enough, we went large and very happy/filling meal).

I have been coming to the Proud Potato for years and always been very happy. The portion sizes have now decreased massively. I have been disappointed! New staff should be more generous with potato size and portions sizes if they want to keep custom. Thanks Mandy

After reading the previous 1* reviews I thought I was about to make a huge mistake suggesting Proud Potato as a quick tea but am pleased to say they are very misleading. I bought 3 large spuds, two cheese and chilli and one tuna mayo and cheese, all the spuds were large and cooked to perfection, fluffy moist potato inside and crispy well cooked skins on the outside. There was ample filling in all 3 and no complaints from my family. Will definitely go back again. Worth the £5

5 quid for a big dry potato with 2 desert spoonfuls of chilli and cheese and no salad. Proper rubbish sorry. Was reet looking forward to it an all.

The potatoes are very small. undercooked potatoes and fillings are very minimal. And customer service is shocking you would expect more fillings bigger potato for the price they charge

I have been going to the Proud potato for Decades now they have always had great service and simply amazing potatoes and toppings. However over the last year the staff are not as chatty as they used to be! I'm guessing that's due to the pandemic and as it's one in one out service to minimize spread.

We just had 2 potatoes for tea & very disappointed yet again that after 3rd time in last couple of months I feel I need to leave a review. We have always been pleased with potatoes from here, lovely big hot & ample toppings but unfortunately this has gone down hill. The last 3 times have been small shrivelled hard & burnt skins with very little topping. I gave it the benefit of doubt to try again thinking it was a 1 off but no yet again another hard shrivelled potato. Decided to try again & disappointed yet again even the carton it came in was smaller, small hard cold shrivelled burnt potato & a small blob of topping sorry to say that's my last potato such a shame

Lovely tatties when it's too late to cook. Chilli and cheese is a favourite.

My son has brought me a jacket potato from proud potato at Middlewood Road Sheffield. The filling of chilli and cheese was fine, however the potato looked as though it had bee kept warm all day as the skin was black and unedable. £5 for something that should have been thrown away hours ago won't be buying again

I was a happy customer of the proud potato for many years and as of late the quality and quantity is just not there . It is like the place has just given up. From the minimal amount of toppings you receive to a half attempt at mashing a potato . It is sad to say but they really are not in the same league as other competitors now

Visited yesterday, asked for a regular with butter and - my preference - chicken supreme, the filling tasted terrible as it was microwaved it seemed to order. Before I asked for something but was served wrong. Years ago it was great! Now, not so much. Adios

Fantastic fast food option! I even had my potato “fluffed” this extra little gesture was really nice! Choice was great. Speak was fantastic! We will certainly be coming your way next time we’re tempted to have a take away!!

Firstly let me start by saying these are possibly the best jacket potatoes I've ever had. They're big (very big!), earthy, taste great, and they make them extra special by having a crispy outside and a really light and fluffy inside to them. Unique! I defy anyone to have a chicken curry one and not love it!

Such a nice alternative to your everyday take away. Really enjoyed my chilli jacket. The lady behind the counter was wonderful, helpful and friendly! Will be back! 🙄💖

Decided to have a change so went for proud potato not had one for years. Lovely big potatoes and loads of fillings to choose from hot and cold great with garlic butter on and not too expensive

Really good, home made fillings. Tuna mayo with salad is lovely. Cooked in real potato oven. Really nice.

Absolutely gorgeous food here, and the large ones are so big you can barely even finish them, great value for money and the quality of the food is top notch you can tell it's all homemade. I personally recommend either the bolognase or chilli with cheese on a spud!

I'm not saying this place is on par with a good restaurant, but for something different for a takeaway I'd say this a must if in the Hillsborough area. Healthy (in comparison to other takeaways) not too expensive, decent variety, friendly staff. Don't do delivery though, unless it's over £25 over lunchtime.

We have been here quite a few times, the staff are always friendly, the food is always hot and tastes great.

I'd seen this place advertised online so decided to call as I was driving past that way. My potato was very good, huge, and very filling - there are a good choice of toppings.. It is a touch on the expensive side for what you get and the lady who was serving wasn't exactly full of the joys but that didn't stop the food being tasty..

Excellent place if you fancy a takeaway that's different to the usual pizza/kebab/burgers & Chinese/Indian. Good value for money, very filling and good staff. Would recommend.
