Pete's Chippy in Sheffield

Take Away only fish and chips - not an eat in restaurant. Limited menu but what they sell is well cooked, hot and the fish has quite thin and crispy batter. Just how it should be.

This chip shop has always been known for their excellent fish and chips but unfortunately we don’t live close by now but on Friday we were in the area and called in. They did not disappoint!! They were EXCELLENT! The best by far. Hope to be able to visit again soon .

5 stars all round. I asked the lady who was wrapping the chips, on a scale of 1-10 how good are your chips. She replied 10 and she wasn't lying. Definitely going back for a 2nd visit

Today, I called in at this Fish & Chip Shop enroute to the Wednesday v Oxford match. Had the best Fish & Chips that I've had in a long time. The Fish was excellent quality and the Chips were perfect. I will definitely be back.

I was expecting more due to the great reviews however I was very disappointed! The chips were very greasy, the fish was dry and hard, staff used their hands to put fishcakes, sausage and nuggets into the bags! I forgot to ask for salt and vinegar and was never asked if I wanted it. Won't be visiting again!

Absolute the best fish and chips ive had in years and i live 5 minutes from the fishing port of Fremantle, Western Australia.

This was my childhood Chippy. When I was a nipper, I was always sent down to Pete's to get Saturday lunch to give my Mom a break from cooking. That was over 50 years ago and honestly, I still haven't found a Fish and chip shop to match it! The reviews look very promising, so I'm coming back very soon, just to see if it's nostalgia or if this is really is one of the best chippys in the UK. (I suspect I won't be disappointed:)

As a fussy eater I never clear a plate of chips etc but u can’t get better than this! Beautiful food every single time! Claire & Team are super friendly highly recommend

Arguably the best fish and chip shop in Sheffield let down with it only being open Thu, Fri, Sat. They also only take cash payment and there isn't a cash machine in Grenoside. It would also be mutually beneficial if they did deliveries, perhaps through Uber eats etc.

Fish ok but the chips was disgusting I think they must have been last weeks warmed up, rock hard nearly broke my teeth if I lived nearer I would have took them back.

Spot on here. Really tasty. Unlike other chippies, they actually cook their chips properly.

This chippy is one of the best around. The chips in particular have their own distinct taste and on my last visit they were beyond perfection.

Just had fish and chips ( not been to this chippy in a while ) they were absolutely amazing . We will definitely not be leaving it as long before we visit again. This chippy is no doubt the best in the area !. Thank you 😊

Think some on here dont know fish n chips amazing everytime cooked in beef dripping means no need to add salt just vinegar as good as chippys in whitby for instance great place

Just as another reviewer said I also got a dry hard fish I could hardly get my teeth through it , it went into the bin. I wondered if it had been re fried from the night before, what a waste of money, the chips weren't that good either. This used to be the best chippy but it's now going down hill.

Cooked freshly the batter is lovely and crisp

Nice fish n chips, portions are small, aaked for 3 large portions of chips, the portions were more like 2 small portions.

Just had fish and chips I am lost for words 2 thin skinny tail end pieces with hardly any fish on them my husband thought it was a flat fish rather than cod the chips few that there were amounted to about 18 chips the rest scraps.(this was large portion). I drove past 2 other chip shops purposely to come here wasted my time and money. Disgusted.i have tried phoning to complain no one answering.

Always a treat when we're in the area to go to Pete's for fish and chips with mushy peas. This is how chippy's used to be before the addition of kebabs and pizzas and all the other contemporary fripperies so it's a refreshing place to go. Always fresh with crispy batter and well cooked chips. A bit limited for veggies but you've got to respect the tradition of this family run institution....check the opening hours though as they're slightly restricted.

By far the best chip shop in Sheffield! It's always busy and is so perfectly located in the village. My only mild gripe is that it's not open a lot, only 3 days a week, although being a local chippy with perfect service I think we can deal with that :)

Outstanding Yorkshire fish and chips and winner of The Star's "The Best Chippy" competition in 2013. A must for a traditional British Friday dinner and worth travelling to for the experience. The "chippy" has been owned and run by the same family for 44 years, with current owner, Claire Benson, taking over from her parents 9 years ago. Heart, soul and pride are clearly key ingredients. Crispy golden batter covers fresh, white, fleshy, tasty cod which pairs perfectly with deep fried home cut chips. Mushy peas might be a bit runny but are still good and complement the other ingredients well. Goes down well with a cup of strong, sweet Yorkshire tea!

There isn't even a chippy here. It's a pub!
