Priya Authentic Indian Kitchen in South Ayrshire

Moved to the area a year ago. Been generally disappointed with various takeaway places until tonight…..wow wow wow. An absolutely beautiful meal. We have used a place called the koh-i-noor in Largs for as long as I can remember 20 years at least. It’s pretty much the best place there is. This place was on a par. Could not have enjoyed my meal more. Will be back very soon. Edited. Used for second time and it was simply awful. Late delivered food which was near stone cold. To give them their due they offered to Replace the food. I had already waited over an hour and we simply didn’t have time to get it replaced. No offer of refund. Unsure if we would use again.

I’ve eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants and this has to rank as one of the BEST that I have eat at. The service was unbelievable and highly recommend Priya if you’re in Ayr!!

Travelled down for a day at the coast from Glasgow and stopped in here from some lunch. The lunch menu is fabulous value and the food absolutely delicious. Amazing nan bread too. Service lovely and spotlessly clean restaurant and toilets. We will definitely make the trip back down to visit again.

Very tasty food indeed. Had the Saturday express lunch before 3pm. Well worth the money. Will definitely be back.

We eat from Priya a lot. They have just relocated to the Sandgate in Ayr. When my wife called to place an order and ask if the menu was the same, the guy was just really patronising and rude. When we went in to collect, he was sat with headphones on and made us feel like a real inconvenience. Really disappointed. Food was good as it always is.

Wow the food is absolutely amazing, fresh, tasty not greasy, tender chicken cooked to perfection, fluffy rice . The naan bread is the best I have tasted. I would recommend.

This is the worst Restaurant in AYR , a complete rip off . One dosa cost u £6 , Staffs are rude

The staff is extremely insulting, bought a dosa and poori, and served 1 ring size dosa and little bit of Chana for £5.95, what a rip off. Never recommended. I would have had the food happily even it was a rip of , but the insulting behavior from the staff is extremely not acceptable. Such a poor service. Especially the indian guy with specs on.

Ordered from Priya via Ayr Eats. Order confirmed prompt, was ready at estimated time for delivery. Delivery was delayed but it was a busy Saturday night so that’s to be expected. Messaged via google to enquire with a prompt response and explanation. Food arrived, still piping hot! Buttered Chicken was absolutely phenomenal! Beautifully spiced with a nice wee kick at the back. Peshawari Nan was also delicious! We’ll absolutely be back.

Very good service here and exceptional food. If you like spicy food, they can make it 'desi' for you (like it's made in south Asia) but if you prefer it milder then they can make it like that too. Portions are big enough to fill even the hungriest tummy. There's plenty of parking behind the restaurant too

Went here for a sit in meal last night after a chance spotting when driving by. We were made welcome straight away. Service was very friendly and fast. Food was top drawer Butter chicken to die for and best Peshwari ever ! Will deffo be back when near by.

My wife and I dropped in for dinner on our way home from holiday and as per our last visit, we were warmly welcomed by friendly staff and directed to our seat. Very lovely atmosphere for dinner and we were served quickly and professionally. My wife had a chicken korma and I had a biryani. Again these were prepared in good time and piping hot and were delicious. I was particularly surprised by the biryani as it has to be the very best I have ever tasted. And it was very light too. Not stodgy and heavy as many I have had. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her korma too saying the same that it was the best she's had in a long time. We will definitely keep returning here whenever we are heading back this way.

Very tasty, we had the chicken Saag which was brilliant and the chicken tikka masala which was also nice. Would order again!

I've tried this indian twice nice food only thing I'm used to back home which I would add is free poppadoms and spicy onions or veg pakora if your spending more than £15. Other than that all good

Delicious food; had the vegetable curry and mushroom pilau (both vegan) - ridiculously tasty and felt healthy too (wasn't so oily). Great service too - everyone there is lovely 💙

When ordering takeaways locally i find it can be a hit or a miss. Priya is the only one that consistantly serves good quality food. The delivery time is always fast as well. The owners are civil on the phone and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Excellent service and delicious meals. Made a mild chicken curry for my 6 yearl old Grandson although it wasn't on the children's menu and he devoured it. Plenty of options for Vegitarians like me The Chapatis are something else they weren't done like standard Chapatis but tasted like Nan Bread though so much lighter ,which I loved because although I love Nans I find them to heavy to take with a meal. In short if your on holiday in Haven and want to try a Curry I thoroughly recommend Priya restaurant.

Staying at Craig Tara haven and ordered a chicken madras to be delivered to the gate, little more expensive than I pay at home but wasn't disappointed it was the best madras iv ever had absolutely delicious😁😁

Best Indian meal i have ever had....

Fabulous meal,I recently moved to Alloway from Uddingston.Very friendly and polite staff but more importantly the food was excellent, nan was in a warming pouch rather in a paper bag everything was as we wanted,This was our second takeaway and it won't our last.

Had a takeaway from the Priya at the weekend and feel I have to give this take away review As the food was of the highest standard it was definitely a taste sensation honestly one of the best takeaways I have ever tasted.

Hands down the worst Indian meal I can remember. Pathia is often described as 'sweet and sour' because it uses tamarind, chillis and lime. This one, I'm pretty certain, was made using Chinese Sweet and Sour sauce. Bright red and gloopy, with small chunks of chicken floating in it. It was like the aftermath of an attack from Jaws. Don't worry though, I suspect no real ingredients were harmed in the making of this dish. The Dansak was, I'm pretty certain, my Mum's lentil soup. The Bhel Poori (street food snack that should taste fresh like a salad) tasted like it was made the week before last. Like most people, I usually struggle to know when to stop with Indian food, and eat too much. No problems there - most of it got wrapped up and put in the bin. Maybe that could be their selling point - Diet Indian Food; so bad you'll never overeat! In fairness the Veg Pakora were OK (but not great) - which is why it's 2 stars rather than one - but even there I'm being pretty generous. There are plenty of other good, and even average, Indian restaurants in Ayr. Avoid this place and go to one of them instead.

We went for dinner (family of four) and we would highly recommend. The food was so yummy (the garlic cheesy nan was to die for) and our waitress was lovely too. It’s very close to Craig Tara which is handy. We’ll definitely visit again!

At Craig Tara with the family and ordered from this restaurant, I would not recommend this to anyone it’s actually the worst Indian I have ever tasted , the nan bread was greasy , the rice looked and tasted like uncle bens microwave gear , the madras was as mild as a korma in all honesty it didn’t even make the plate it all got put straight in the bin , total waste of money

Friendly welcoming staff, lovely atmosphere and decor. Food was brilliant, full of flavour. I had the vegetable samosa which had a portion of a chickpea curry along with it. I asked one one of the staff what it was and she had one of the kitchen staff come up to tell me about it. Thank you for a lovely dining experience. We will be back! 😊

Would highly recommend Priya. Great selection of food and very attentive staff. We were in for quiet end of week meal and the only negative was the behaviour of a group at another table; clearly drunk judging by their behaviour towards staff and their disrespect of fellow diners. That being said, the staff dealt professionally with them as they were escorted out of restaurant. I would not let this put me off returning. Well worth a trip to Doonfoot

Best Indian food out there and staff are so welcoming and friendly.

Restaurant looked good, staff all fine too. Food not good, think delhi belly which we both had afterwards. Had pakora, veg overdone, chicken a bit soggy and fish which was dreadful(fish far too soft but explained by the manager that it was whiting soaked in milk which made it that way). Mains were not spicy and naan went cold too quickly. Won't be back

Had been recommended Priya by colleagues after talking about how standards of other Indian restaurants around Ayr had fallen in recent years. I was not disappointed! Everything piping hot, great portion sizes and very attentive staff. Will definitely be back.

The food and service from this restaurant was first class. The selection and cost of the food is excellent. The manner in which you are treated is also excellent.

Delivered was 20 mins late but accepted it as we phoned and added a dish. When the food arrived the added dish was missing but they made sure they charged for it.

24 very happy diners celebrating Christmas at Belleisle Conservatory. Priya went out of their way to ensure the evening was a success.The food was delicious and included pakoras (mixed and veggie), a choice of three different meat mains, two veggie dishes and all the usual accompaniments. There was more than enough for everyone and the food was delivered promptly and in large serving dishes. Thanks to everyone at the restaurant and already planning a repeat next year. Would definitely recommend.

Had a wonderful meal for two. Owners and staff welcoming and friendly. Food very fresh, well cooked and presented by the very friendly chef Raj who took the trouble to come out and meet us to make sure everything was all right. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in town.

We eat here quite regularly and tonight, as always, the food and service was excellent. In fact I would say the high standard of cuisine was surpassed today. I cannot eat very spicy food, and this is not a problem here. Raj, the chef, will cook your food as spicy or hot or not as you like. The staff and owners are attentive and friendly and the wine is reasonably priced. I would recommend Priya highly and love the fact that it is within walking distance for us.

Where do I start.. *******AMAZING********Friendly family atmosphere, attentive staff, excellent food, fantastic service, reasonable price, nice comfy chairs lolAs 1 of our party commented "it felt like sitting at home" We were made to feel so welcome even the head chef came to speak to us. From the Manager to the waitresses each 1 made our whole dining experience a relaxed enjoyable evening. With a family full of fussy eaters it is very hard to please us all & tonight each & everyone of us enjoyed our meals. We cant wait to go back.Definatly 5 stars from us

Was in on Friday night for a meal, place was busy and had nice atmosphere. We were seated quickly by the staff and drinks and menus were offered to us right away. The food we had was excellent once again (Korma & Karahi). Will definitely be back and highly recommended!

I recently read a review on here where the manager was criticised for questioning customer comments and I have to say I have sympathy for the restaurant.I live nearby and regularly have take aways which are always of the highest standard and quickly delivered.Occasionally I dine in as I did with friends last Friday - the staff make you welcome, the food is high quality as are the wines on offer at a reasonable price. During each course you are asked if everything is to your liking and I have no doubt were one not satisfied remedial action would be taken.I have never been dissatisfied and against still competition this is now my favourite Indian restaurant in the area - to wait until your table is being cleared to make a spurious complaint about quality is requiring some sort of challenge from a very attentive and proud management team.

Dinner for 4 as simply super and we all thoroughly enoyed it. We had their early bird offer and it did not disappoint. really helpful and friendly staff and we felt very comfortable in their fresh, clean and modern restaurant upstairs. A lift was available for my hubby who is disabled so that was very helpful. Will definitely go back the next time I am in Ayr and I do recommend a visit

Situated on the outskirts of Ayr, Priya is not exactly handy for the town!!!! Its a small restuarant with a modern layout.Staff were friendly and helpful.We ordered some fish pakora as a starter but they had no fish! Not a great start.The replacement was a chilli prawn puri that was a bit short on taste, a decent sized portion though.This was followed by a methi gosh which was again a good size portion with a reasonable amount of meat. This was served with a excellent garlic coriander naan and the most miserly portion of fried rice I've ever had in an Indian restaurant.It was so small we had to order more, a first for me.The food was good, the restaurant pleasant and the prices reasonable if you go before 7:00pm, shame about the fish and the rice.

We went last night as a first time and while we enjoyed it my wife commented that she found the chicken her dish dish quite tuff but the other all said there food was good the next thing the most unbelievable thing happens the owner came back with the dish to the table and started arguing with my wife that there was nothing wrong with the chicken as both he and his chef had tried it and kept arguing we asked for the bill and on the way out he kept it up absolutely unacceptable from the owner.

First time sitting in at Priya tonight, we normally order carry out which to be honest has never disappointed. However tonight / despite my three friends /family having a good meal i advised the waitress at the end that I had been unable to eat my main meal chicken which was tough. I didn’t complain but merely said the chicken had not been good. At no time did I say anything detrimental but being in a service industry I totally appreciate how valuable feedback is / good or bad. The owner then came to our table with said chicken asking me what was wrong. I explained that it was tough. He then told me that one of his chefs had managed to separate it with his hands and indeed has chewed some of it and I was wrong! Firstly not acceptable . I asked why he had brought the chicken back to our table? I explained very calmly that I found that to be unacceptable and offensive and again that I had not complained but merely told the waitress that the chicken was tough. However the owner then said to me that it was ok for me to say the food was inedible but he couldn’t fight back and tell me I was wrong as the chicken was fine!!?? How disappointing and utterly bizarre. The owner would not even let us speak despite us being perfectly calm as one of our friends is a policeman. We never engaged in his ongoing rant but this is not how you treat customers who have a right to advise you if something is wrong, we actually also said that my other friends had enjoyed their meal. Please note the chicken was paid for. We never asked for nor expected discount . Worst experience ever. Owner wouldn’t let it go which was really disturbing. I’m sorry but honesty is the best policy and the chicken was tough / fact. Cannot obviously take criticism. Will never be back.

Had a fantastic time here last night. ‘Captain’ was so helpful and ensured we had a great experience. I would recommend the chicken tikka - unbelievably succulent and tasty. This is the Indian restaurant to go to in Ayr.

Had another fantastic meal last night at Priya. Captain and Faz are so welcoming and look after you so well. Anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine I can't recommend it enough. Looking forward to my next visit 👍 keep up the good work guys!!

I can honestly say this was the best Indian food I have ever tasted. First visit to Priya’s and loved it. The place is spotless and the food is lovely. Waitress was clean, tidy, efficient and friendly. Nav is a fantastic host - Immaculately dressed, polite, friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend.

Small restaurant on the road between Ayr and Craig Tara. Food is actually really good and Chicken Chasni was lovely. Pakora and chicken curry, tasty. Had the mixed grill too which again was very good. Only issue is it's a bit more expensive for what you get. Mixed grill for example was £19 where as its about £12/£14 in Glasgow with twice the amount. Nan bread was tiny too.Would happily eat from here again though.

The kids had fish and chips next door and I grabbed some butter chicken and nan bread..!! Just beautiful flavours.. kids tried to steal it all.. dipping there chips in the sauce.. just the right amount of spice!! Very good.. and very friendly staff..

I ordered a takeaway from Priya authentic Indian kitchen the service was great I waited less than 10 minutes for my order and it was fantastic. It is easily the best curry I have ever had. I highly reccommend visiting it.

having not had a good Indian meal in sometime we tried this Restaurant and it didn't disappoint, Mushroom Pakora for starters with a fresh shredded salad on the side very nice then came the Lamb Tikka with curry sauce made from the lamb Juices, excellent tasty lamb peices with a not to overpowering curry sauce the nan bread was Light and Crispy not stodgy like some places do and my hubby had the Lamb Kashmiri Rogan Josh, creamy and light with tender pieces of lamb both dishes we would recommend will definitely be back lovely restaurant very nice staff and very enjoyable ty

Absolutely love this place, food is always on point, piping hot and hits the spot. Customer service is second to none. Staff is always polite and always helpful especially with resolving queries about dietary requirements.
