Stopped for a cup of tea after quite a long walk from Kells lane in low fell. Choices of tea, coffee and bites to eat are very good. I opted for a cup of breakfast tea and was perusing the choices until I was told that the sausage rolls has just come out of the oven. Sold! Mine was with Black pudding. Delicious. Nice outdoor seating area which was OK on a sunny autumn day overlooking the park. Highly recommend

Probably one of the best coffee spots around. Knew it would be good when I saw the grinders, very helpful when I asked which beans they used and the bags they sell are roasted very recently. A must do when in saltwell park!

Lovely coffee. I had an americano which had a rich roast taste. All the cakes were sold out as we went quite late on a Sunday so get there early if you want the full selection. They are very vegan friendly with a selection of snacks and plant milk. Was a nice place to sit with the dog and enjoy the beauty of Saltwell Park.

Called in today just for a plain white coffee and was served with what I thought was an undersized fair. What a surprise when I tasted it. Ive been to some exotic places to have coffee but this outstanding cuppa beat them all. Any larger would actually have spoiled it, my only mistake being to spoil it with brown sugar (I always take sugar) next time savouring it bare and not spoiling its beautiful creamy taste. Looking forward to my next visit (and maybe getting some coffee making tips)

Coffee is fine, at a price which is fair value for money. Menu is quite uninspired, but covers the basics so can’t complain. Setting is also pleasant. The real problem with this place is the guy who owns it - changes his moods like the wind. Seems to struggle with putting over a professional attitude at work and brings his personal issues, politics, and trigger points all to work with him, which sometimes spill over into him making awkward social media posts when things go awry. Whilst I genuinely sympathise with him, there’s no getting away from the fact it’s bad for business.

Delightful additional to a wonderful park… really embodies and embraces the theme of the park with a modern twist! Incredible coffee, the roasters they use are top quality… one the nicest flat whites I’ve had up North! Perfect temperature, milk steamed to perfection and the espresso itself… Wow! Fruity, punchy… extracted properly! Keep it up… quality produce and class location!

I love Prism so much! It’s been so good to have such a high quality coffee shop in Saltwell Park, and it’s such a lovely atmosphere too. Perfect post park run treat - don’t miss the carrot cake and cinnamon buns (my personal favourite). Super friendly staff, lovely chilled music, delicious food and drinks, and a perfect view of the park. Daniel is so knowledgable too - as somebody who knows NOTHING about coffee, I have actually learnt loads from chatting to him and following Prism on social media. And he was even kind enough to give us some takeaway boxes for free to use for cupcakes at our wedding(!). What a legend.

The coffee is now more of a reason enough to make the trip from Newcastle. The atmosphere approaching is warm and inviting, with chilled music setting a relaxed tone from the moment you walk towards it. The barista was not only skilled but also friendly too. Worth checking out, even on a rainy day as it’s under cover and has the stunning views of the park, making the journey over Gateshead more than worthwhile.

I’ve always loved this place for coffee, and always make a point of visiting whenever I have been in the park during opening hours, and have been served by a number of polite individuals. Unfortunately I had the displeasure of meeting the man who I presume is the owner. I asked for a dirty iced chai (chai with a shot of espresso) and was met with a 60 second rant on why he did not spend 30k on a coffee machine/grinder to mix chai with coffee, and how he absolutely refused to make me this drink regardless on if he had all the ingredients to make it. I settled for an iced flat white. I have never been spoken to in this way by anyone in the service industry, I was berated and spoken down to publicly, for simply asking for a drink that I was paying for. I understand people have passions, this man’s passion for his coffee is very clear, but quite frankly I just wanted my drink. I’ll avoid this place and will be asking family and friends to avoid due to his poor and unprofessional attitude to his customers. Please avoid unless you want to be made to feel incredibly uneducated on the art of coffee.

When you can get served The Prism is definitely worth a visit. The owners are so likeable and approachable, and possess a very knowledgeable insight into their produce, and what they have to offer. Alas, this attracts customers who ask about near on every product - without purchasing - that results in a queue for service. Today a young couple - they did purchase - were fielding so many questions that I was standing unattended for 20 minutes. I and another 4 potential customers left disappointed. Could be an absolute goldmine!!! If there is nobody at the serving hatch/window go for it.

Drinks were good but expensive. £5+ for a 250ml can of raspberry lemonade and a regular (actually quite small) latte. And when I asked for sugar for the latte he looked at me and said “have you ever drank coffee before” as if to insinuate I would be tainting coffee or that adding sugar would be ruining the coffee drinking experience. Absolutely no need to add that judgement and taint the experience of an otherwise quaint park coffee shop.

as a regular office based 9-to-5er, i rarely get the opportunity to visit, so when i had the chance to work from home, i knew i had to go and i was not disappointed. the person who was working was friendly and upbeat for a drizzly, grey afternoon and served me a carrot cake, a cinnamon bun and a latte with a cheery disposition. bonus points for the soft lo-fi tunes in the background, if i wasn't late going back to work, i would have totally sat on the outdoor seating and chilled. i'm not the biggest coffee-without-sugar drinker but the taste was lovely and melded well with the oat milk that comes as a standard (which is another plus for me). i wasn't the biggest fan of the cinnamon stodge but in all fairness, i visited nearing closing time so may not have been the freshest and i would have loved a thick, sweet glaze to compliment the bun, seeing as it wasn't overly sweet. the carrot cake took centre stage, but that may be my carrot cake bias- it was fluffy and dense in a really good way; alike to how a seeded loaf is dense, with a slight citrusy note, topped with a creamy icing that pulled everything together! what a nice, little place, tucked in the heart of Saltwell Park.
