Honestly the best coffee I've ever had. I asked for a cappuccino but the server recommended something else as they don't sell classic cappuccinos and it did not disappoint. Creamy and just so tasty. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Quick walk out in Saltwell Park. Haven't been in some time. Had a lovely black americano which was exceptionally good. I was offered the final sample of the cardamom buns that will be available next week. It was delicious. It was a lovely spring day; there was a good atmosphere and great to see the regular stream of customers. Very friendly service - will definitely call by again - a very good reason to visit the park more often

A fantastic little coffee shop selling wonderful coffee. An excellent surprise to find high quality coffee and beans for sale along side some tempting coffee gear. At Prism, every detail matters. And it’s not just for show—it’s real, thoughtful care. Some customers might grab a coffee and go about their day, but if they knew what happens behind the scenes, they’d appreciate it even more. What Daniel and his team do isn’t just about making coffee—it’s about passion and purpose. You can taste it in every cup. We can’t tell you how good this place is. But once you visit, you’ll see.

Specialty coffee ( I mean, really superb coffee) in the midst of beautiful Saltwell Park, Gateshead - lush trees, fresh air - what else could I ask more for? Prism Coffee has a story to tell - Daniel, a technician in Apple for 8 years, decided to pursue this dream of his for a specialty coffee shop, a bakery of his craft, after the birth of his daughter. Everything here screams of him being a perfectionist - from the milk pairings (an amazing Oat Milk Coffee! I didn’t realise how delicious it could be till today!), to his homemade freshly baked savoury pastries (gosh I had the Black Pudding Sausage Roll , just out of the world), to the beautiful design of this spot facing the lake. Just heavenly. I recommend that you speak to Daniel - ask him, why oat milk only - like, won’t you lose revenue? Why this spot in Gateshead? Why this or that? Everything to the smallest detail is intentional here. It is authentically him, genuinely wanting his best experience he could give for customers. Again, another gem that must be mentioned. 101% recommended. I will be back often, for the fresh air for Baby Ru, the lovely vibes, and that amazing specialty coffee.

Amazing coffee!! For the past year and a half everytime we visit it is always just as good as the last, it is worth visiting the park just to taste the coffee. And the cakes too. Support your local businesses that are trying to offer quality in a world full of faceless, tasteless chains, and go try it. Great for families to walk around the lovely park too. Even if you fancy something different you won't be disapointed, there s lots to choose from.

My partner and I come to the park at least once a week. We bring our baby girl as she loves to see the dogs, squirrels and birds. We are so fortunate to have found this gem of a coffee shop. I have a passion for good coffee so I am always on the lookout for good coffee shops and people that know how to make it properly. I have gone as far as Capetown to experience the number one rated coffee shop in the wold at the time. This place has probably one of, if not the best coffee I have tasted in England. This comes from someone who drinks both cows milk and plant based milk. The sausage rolls are so tasty and the cakes are just delicious! The menu does change seasonally which is nice as it adds to the existing variety. Lastly the staff are all lovely and the owner is a passionate, quirky and kind hearted individual, that has often gone above and beyond at times to accommodate us.

Everything’s fantastic about this place, the speciality coffees they provide are great and staff are pleasant. A lovely park to have a coffee in but not really the best coffee shop in town. Unfortunately they only serve fake milk, no option for cow's milk at all! the man working there when I visited was also very unpleasant and annoying too. the coffee itself was ok, it was acceptable but there are no syrups available, which seems absolutely ridiculous in 2025, so you better like it plain! a good location with reasonable coffee let down by poor staff and an uninspired menu.

Only use fake milks. Fake milks are really bad for human health and awful for the environment. The vast majority are flown in from overseas and the damage to animals and the environment from their growth and production is really awful. Any claims to the contrary are greenwashing. Use of only fake milks should be clearly advertised. Production of oat milk is nowhere near as good for soil health as grazing cattle, who's manure builds soil and sequesters carbon from the atmosphere. Oat milk is produced through monocrop agriculture, which is the main cause of top soil depletion, and the number of animals killed during harvest vastly outweighs the number of animals killed in the production of cows milk. These facts are clear. I stand by my review.

Loved the feel of this independent coffee shop. Located inside a beautiful historical park, Prism is a coffee shop with a difference: eco-conscious and plant-based that sells a range of drinks, savouries and cakes which actually taste fantastic! Called in today just for a plain white coffee and was served with what I thought was an undersized fair. What a surprise when I tasted it. Ive been to some exotic places to have coffee but this outstanding cuppa beat them all. Any larger would actually have spoiled it, my only mistake being to spoil it with brown sugar (I always take sugar) next time savouring it bare and not spoiling its beautiful creamy taste. Coffee is fine, at a price which is fair value for money. Menu is quite uninspired, but covers the basics so can’t complain. Setting is also pleasant. The real problem with this place is the guy who owns it - changes his moods like the wind. Seems to struggle with putting over a professional attitude at work and brings his personal issues, politics, and trigger points all to work with him, which sometimes spill over into him making awkward social media posts when things go awry. Whilst I genuinely sympathise with him, there’s no getting away from the fact it’s bad for business.

I’ve always loved this place for coffee, and always make a point of visiting whenever I have been in the park during opening hours, and have been served by a number of polite individuals. Unfortunately I had the displeasure of meeting the man who I presume is the owner. I asked for a dirty iced chai (chai with a shot of espresso) and was met with a 60 second rant on why he did not spend 30k on a coffee machine/grinder to mix chai with coffee, and how he absolutely refused to make me this drink regardless on if he had all the ingredients to make it. I settled for an iced flat white. I have never been spoken to in this way by anyone in the service industry, I was berated and spoken down to publicly, for simply asking for a drink that I was paying for. I understand people have passions, this man’s passion for his coffee is very clear, but quite frankly I just wanted my drink. I’ll avoid this place and will be asking family and friends to avoid due to his poor and unprofessional attitude to his customers. Please avoid unless you want to be made to feel incredibly uneducated on the art of coffee.

When you can get served The Prism is definitely worth a visit. The owners are so likeable and approachable, and possess a very knowledgeable insight into their produce, and what they have to offer. Alas, this attracts customers who ask about near on every product - without purchasing - that results in a queue for service. Today a young couple - they did purchase - were fielding so many questions that I was standing unattended for 20 minutes. I and another 4 potential customers left disappointed. The best priced specialty coffee in the area, looking forward to coming back again and trying more of the menu. Definitely is a SPECIALTY coffee store so don’t confuse it with the “coffee” you get from Starbucks etc…

Drinks were good but expensive. £5+ for a 250ml can of raspberry lemonade and a regular (actually quite small) latte. And when I asked for sugar for the latte he looked at me and said “have you ever drank coffee before” as if to insinuate I would be tainting coffee or that adding sugar would be ruining the coffee drinking experience. Absolutely no need to add that judgement and taint the experience of an otherwise quaint park coffee shop.

Just lush food and coffee. In case anyone is wondering, seating is outdoor only

Easily the best coffee shop in Gateshead! Dan seems very switched on about the craft and will go out of his way to make the best coffee every morning.

Lovely choice of fresh buns, cakes and breads. There is a decent choice of polish products too.
