Best wheelchair accessible room I’ve stayed in so far. Had a safe and comfy shower. Bed was oddly short due to the position of the headboard - tall people beware Staff were very nice. Location is right opposite Aldi so easy to grab food.

As per the Stars Rating we’ve left, the rooms are simplistic, but very comfortable and clean. The location is excellent and we-suited for all amenities with the local town, and has great links to Cambridge, Stansted and London. The prices are really competitive and fair. However, the service is shockingly appalling. We have need to stay somewhere near to Cambridge quite regularly, so we have chosen to stay in the Saffron Walden hotel about 8 or 9 times each year, sometimes booking 2 rooms at a time. However, we’ve seen the services at the hotel deteriorate quite noticeably over the past few months. When attempting to phone the hotel, it regularly just rings and rings endlessly for over 30 minutes with no answer. Upon arrival, it can take up to 29minutes before a person appears to complete your check-in. There are very limited options for dietary or food intolerances; indeed, this allergen information is just a “tick-box” exercise to cover the hotel against it’s’ EHO requirements and liabilities. The foodservice itself is absolutely shambolic. The “hot” breakfast offerings are overcooked and yet lukewarm at best, if the full menu is available. The evening menu is even worse since, regularly, key food items are not available. We won’t be coming back and, indeed, we think it’s time to change our choice of Brand. Shame on you, Premier Inn, shame on you.

Good. There was only one problem. I could open the window for fresh air.

In the from the station to the hotel, we were told to have booked a B&B instead, now I know why. We had booked and paid for an overnight stay as we were attending a wedding. We paid extra for early check in to get ready. On our arrival we met a very disgruntled customer who had been woken up by staff entering his room to wake him to vacate the room. We then asked to check and was told our rooms paid from 11am were not ready at 12.30 pm. The receptionist in a very dismissive attitude said that "it states subject to availability". I demanded a refund as I had rung ahead and been assured rooms were ready. I said I want to see the manger also because it is poor planning and management not have the 1st rooms cleaned available for early check in and should not advertise what they can't deliver and expect customers to wait. We were asked to wait 15 minutes. We were then given our rooms. I went to my room (222), swiped my card to enter and walked into occupants in the room. I quickly apologised and left and went to the reception to point out the error. The receptionist apologised and gave me another room. The room was clean and usual standard as expected. Breakfast was standard. Getting a taxi is a nightmare, book in advance if you dont have your car.

We have stayed here several times. The last time was over Christmas. The staff were helpful and nothing was to much trouble. The room was clean and comfortable. We ate a few times and again nothing to fault. Well done. X

Premier inns have gone downhill generally and in some cases are no better than travelodge. This one is one of the better ones, with staff being very accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately the breakfast experience wasn’t so good. The restaurant was cold, there were quite few hot food options and some of the hot food was lukewarm. In the overflow car park there is one BP charger but it’s not available unless you pay the £8.99 monthly subscription. Premier Inn are missing a trick by not having a row of type 2 destination chargers. Saffron Walden itself is a lovely village to visit.

I’d like to start by apologising for the delay in leaving this review—it’s long overdue! I was recently catching up with a friend I hadn’t seen since my wedding, and it reminded me how amazing the staff at the Premier Inn Saffron Walden were—and that I’ve still not left a review to thank them properly. To give some context, I got married in July last year at Quendon Hall, and many of my guests stayed at the Premier Inn. The feedback from my guests about the hospitality they received was absolutely glowing. Everyone was so impressed with how well they were looked after, and it gave my wife and me real peace of mind knowing they were in such capable hands. We are incredibly grateful to the team for going above and beyond to ensure our guests felt so welcome and cared for. Your warmth, professionalism, and outstanding service truly made a difference during such an important time for us. A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you—you were amazing, and we’ll never forget the role you played in making our wedding even more special. Highly recommend this hotel and its exceptional staff!!

We arrived late last night after visiting our son with our overnight things in carrier bags. The receptionist wrote down 9 as we approached. Her attitude was cool with us, as we booked in, not giving us a room choice. All the night there were regular odd noises, so loud that they woke us both, and the bed was not as they usually are, hard, lumpy and uncomfortable. The window did not open. We were in need of a good night's sleep and did not get it. There were only 2 teabags in the room, and we only saw extras as we left in the morning. I spoke to the receptionist on the way out, she just kept on writing, or I would have said all this then. This is such a shame as we wanted to stay again this week.

Staff really pleasant. Rooms good, bed comfy! Always sleep well in premier inn. Found some old rubbish left under the bed when i dropped something so could be a bit more thoroughly cleaned. Food is decent, we had breakfast buffet and an evening meal

Rooms are ok except if you need heat seems they control it cuts off at night and when ever you are not in room then takes about 20 minutes to start again. Forget towels our room had one bath and one hand. Showers are extremely slippery. If you need a rubber mat you have to request one. Hopefully you haven’t fallen and broke your back. Last time staying here for me. Oh if you need assistance it’s very difficult to find someone. Have to knock on doors in lobby then they look at you in disgust like what do you want.

I ordered my food online, over £50, they took my money, I waited for my order, nothing, I called - they didn’t answer, 40 minutes later I drove to the restaurant- it was shut…. All you had to do was put a message on your website and notify your order app provider - we’ve been coming to you for years and you’ve really let us down
