Visited for afternoon tea with my family. 3 of us shared the ‘Death by Chocolate’ afternoon tea and one of us chose the traditional afternoon tea. Big selection of sandwiches and the cakes were lovely and moist. I was able to swap my hot drink for a soft drink as I don’t drink hot drinks which was good. We did have to ask for a refill of two cups of coffee as we had been waiting a while and no one came and asked if we wanted another but other than that, service was quick and friendly and food was lovely. Tip - make sure you’ve got cash as it’s cash only

Had a lovely afternoon tea here with my mum. The cakes and scones were absolutely gorgeous and the sandwiches very tasty too. My only criticism would be that our scones weren’t warm. Had a wonderful afternoon tea at the Potteries today. For a change I thought we would try a themed option and my friend and I were certainly not disappointed. The platter looked amazing!! We chose the sandwich fillings we wanted and they arrived along with crisps, some salad leaves, sausage rolls and mini Cornish pasties. Cakes included marshmallows, snowballs, macarons and chocolates too!! Our tea pot and coffee were replenished as requested and it felt so good to be out and enjoying ourselves in lovely surroundings. The staff were most welcoming and attentive and although there were only a few tables compared to the norm, it was still a great atmosphere. As always the food was plentiful and tasted really good. The cupcakes (again everything was decorated in the blue colours of the Frozen story), were light and beautifully themed.I’d certainly recommend this for a ‘special’ afternoon tea with extra touches at a very reasonable price!!

Attended in December for a baby shower. It was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and the place looked fantastic. There was more than enough food. They don't take card payments but were friendly and directed me to a cash point about 2 minutes away as well as providing a box to take away leftovers in. Parking across the road was useful too.

Booked a table for Saturday the 7th December for a table of 10 (5 adults, 3 children & 2 nearly 1 year olds). They managed to fit us round a large table even though it was a snug squeeze, but was told this on booking the table. We all tried a variety of different platers from Disney to Christmas Theme! They were all beautifully set out & so yummy. Staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, even with the extra mess and noise provided by 5 little people. I would definitely recommend Potteries Tea Room & we will be returning soon

Very disappointed with this afternoon tea, wasn’t that much choice on sandwich platter and as for dessert platter no buns only 2 snowballs, 2 french fancies, 2 tiny scones, 2 cupcakes and 2 tiny chocolates. Sorry but who wants fresh fancies and snowballs on afternoon tea it’s for proper cakes and buns. We had to ask for coffee as none was given and no one was around to ask if we needed any more. Very poor service, not attentive at all. This was definitely NOT worth its money. The company of the party was lovely, just a shame couldn’t say same about the food....

I was taken to the Potteries for a surprise gift of afternoon tea by one of my girl friends. The setting looked lovely on arrival and was busy in both tea rooms. We were given a very warm welcome and taken to our table. A choice of sandwiches was on offer and of the 6 filling choices we could pick 3. Then we were offered a choice of 3 cake options all very tempting. We were served a traditional afternoon tea of egg mayo, ham and also chicken sandwiches with tomato halves and lettuce, wonderful!! We both chose the fresh cream and strawberry Victoria sponge which was very light and delicate in taste, even though the portions were very generous. And so to the scones , jam and clotted cream plus a selection of mini cakes, strawberries dipped in white chocolate all served with as much tea as you can drink. A totally fabulous experience from start to finish. Definitely happy to recommend this little gem.

First time we’ve been here but saw various recommendations on Facebook. Very busy lunchtime but efficient and friendly staff saw us to our pre-booked table. Good quantity of sandwiches but why do they only butter one half of the bread and not even up to the edges. Sorry pet hate of ours. (I would have been reprimanded for doing that when I worked in catering). Given a choice of one piece of cake plus the traditional scone with jam and cream and a chocolate. An excellent pot of tea with an offer of a top up if we wanted. If anyone tries to go who is disabled I’m not sure they would get to the toilet because it is reached by a high step though there could be an alternative elsewhere on the premises. At £8.90 per person I would go again but make sure I asked for chutney for the sandwiches or extra butter for the dry side of bread. Plenty of free parking is available in a public car park across the road.

3 of us went for afternoon tea, booking is recommended. We opted for the standard tea and were given 5 varieties of sandwich, tuna, egg, ham, cheese and chicken on a mixture of white and brown bread. We had a small scone each served with jam and cream, and had a choice of cake. The cake was served as one large slice each not as a selection of small cakes. We had a large pot of tea between us. For £7.95 each, the value was amazing. The cafe also does themed afternoon teas, e.g. Halloween, Princess, Willy Wonka. These are dearer at £12.95 each, but looked to be lots of fun. The cafe was decorated for Halloween. The service was good, and we would all be happy to go again.

The downside to it was that majority of the things had been bought in with only the sandwiches being made by potteries and possibly the cupcakes. I mean it's not too hard to knock up a cheese quiche. My daughter wanted to take me and my wife out on a nice afternoon tea break on her day off work. Looking around in the area, Potteries was the only tea rooms which offered a lovely 3 tier lunch including sandwiches, cake, and scones with strawberry and cream - plus a pot of tea. All for just £5.99pp

This place has now become so popular booking is becoming essential. Booked for lunch and despite being busy drinks and food were delivered very promptly. Good quality coffee and the food was to the usual high standard backed with excellent service.

Came here for Easter afternoon tea. Really lovely food and well presented. Staff all lovely and helpful the place is so clean and tidy. Asked for a couple of bride to be cupcakes for my niece. Nothing too much trouble they were so lovely. We couldn't finish it all so they gave us little take away boxes. They also did my sons outside catering for his 18th birthday party . We would highly recommend this. Fabulous buffet loads of choice and plenty of it. I very rarely give out 5 * but everyone said how amazing the food was and we were delighted with it. Thank you.

Amazing visited today as a special treat for Mother’s Day for afternoon tea. The food was amazing plenty of verity and there was so much we were able to take half the cakes home. All the food was very fresh home cooked food. The staff were all very attentive nothing was too much trouble very friendly. The price was very reasonable if anything they could charge more. They would definitely give Betty’s in Harrogate a run for there money. Thank you for making my day so special. Well done

I went to this cafe yesterday with friends for afternoon tea. What a great place!! Atmosphere is great, staff very friendly & efficient. The afternoon tea was excellent, variety of fresh sandwiches & savories. Scones & cakes were very good and a very reasonable price. I will be back without a doubt.

I visit Thurcroft every week and make a point of calling at Mrs Brown’s Tea Room. Not only is a friendly welcome guaranteed but tea served in a china cup and saucer to boot! Let’s face it- THAT is how tea should be served. The food is freshly prepared to order and although I have not tried one, the afternoon tea looks amazing. While you are there you can also have a look around two shops full of vintage ‘finds’ - I rarely leave without a small purchase to brighten up my day, a word of advice though- if you see something you like buy it as it will be gone the next time you call! This is clearly a family concern that is run with love and care and well worth a visit.
