The lady who's running the store is a racist and a rude one. The food I bought was iceing cold, please guys don't waste your valuable time and money going there.

This was absolutely disgusting they don’t have half the things they advertise on the menu, also the food ain’t cooked with love the gal behind the counter her attitude stinks. The food was that disgusting I have taken it home for my dog. The fritters was oily I could oil my skin this is the worst Caribbean shop I have eaten from in brum AVOID!!! AVOID!!! AVOID!!! what a waste of £43 really disappointed.

Do not go there the food is the worst Cari bean I ever had. Watery jerk no flavour. Patties horrible. Service's was bad. Food not wrapped properly and fell in car. Ordered from food hub which they said they don't use but still gave me food as no choice.

Dead flies in window sill. Jerk chicken was dry and old like it came from a desert. Rice was soggy but tasted ok. £8.50 for a bit of rice is crazy though

A little bit pricy since most items are premade and then warmed up when you make an order. But all taste fine, overall not bad. The Banana Cake had a really weird taste. I would rather call it a Ginger Cake because the ginger taste was so strong. Maybe Jamaican style, but definitely not my style.

SECOND TIME I’ve had FOOD POISONING from this place. First time was 3 years ago hence why I gave it another go recently. Myself and partner were struck with food poisoning the following day. The thing is the food was soo nice but it seems how they store the food once it’s cooked is the problem as the food did not taste off at all. it’s disappointing as the taste and quality is there and the prices are reasonable. Portion sizes are what you expect to pay for the price charged. But things must be done properly. Food poisoning is a very serious thing, so making profit over peoples health is not something you practice. Clive you have a good business, but please check that you are meeting the food hygiene safety levels as it could be more detrimental to the business than counting a profit. Unfortunately I can’t eat from here any more as twice is too many times to be poisoned by the same shop. I do hope things improve cause your food is nice!

Dear Portland Lagoon (Birmingham), I note with absolute disgust and disappointment, your response to my complaints of 21/08/2021 when I made a formal complaint to Ubereats following a missing order/damaged delivery. You have suggested in your response that I am dishonest which I find really appalling. This goes to show that you need to have a grip! I ordered two items and you delivered only ONE which was very poorly packed. I attached two photos as evidence to Ubereats whichI will also post here. What I expected from you was an open apology and not insinuating that I am a dishonest person. I will be taking this further after due consultation with Ubereats. Better you appreciate your good returning customers than slagging them off! Kenneth

This is a great little Gem hidden in the rough. I would call this a Take away Caribbean food shop with an option to get a quick bite. Judging by the small amount of tables and chairs. As you can see from the Menu. There is a lot of Authentic and Traditional Jamaican dishes. And I had tried a few different dishes and I personally have NOT had any issues taste wise. There is also a Small drinks cooler with a variety of drinks including some healthy options. All the corvid sign and protocol are in place. 2 customer are allowed in at any one time. The staff is friendly and polite. It's an overall great 👍 experience. I now make it a weekly habit to place an order by phone and then 🚶walk to collect it.

I'm not happy, iv supported this take away over lock down and a couple of times the manager/owner has tried to get me to spend more than intended. I order a small meal everyday and now he has taken the small meal away. So I would have to spend more. It looks I can't support my Owen because they get to greedy. It's OK I can save money at tesco. Thanks

I came here yesterday for a meal takeaway recommended by friends what can i say absolutely delicious the festival was not too sweet either defo deserves a visit

Worked in the JQ for years and have been going here, it's my favourite Caribbean takeaway outside London .

Great Caribbean around town, one of the best and they do small snacks for those who are just wanting a snack or first time Caribbean taster, reasonably priced worth a try. from a man who's mom was Cariibean and a great Carribean cook.

very dissapointed i ordered a meal for me and my daughter when we got home to eat my daughter finds glass in her food had to throw both meals away, i was reluctant to even eat from there if im honest as when i entered the shop flies where going into the fridges where food was and not covered by anything i sugested to use cling flim to atleast make sure the flies dont land on the food i mean come on this is ridiculous!! This shop really should not be trading in my eyes.

Brought jerk chicken and BBQ chicken with white rice on 02/06/18, discovered there are a lots BROKEN GLASSES inside the rice, it’s too hard to get rid of the glasses without eaten them, so we threwed the whole meal away. :( Picture is provided on the google page photo area. We are so disappointed as this is the first time we try it out because of the recommendation from friends, wasting more than £15 and ate nothing! Really bad experience..........

The high percentage of people's reviews based on their bad experiences I can say are true. Due to their location where they are catering for the non Caribbean or college students who are none of the wiser to authentic Caribbean food, the shop cut back on the basics seasoning such as sweet pepper and onions yet they keep putting up the price with a side dish of rudness. Truly I miss my good friend slaughter. Now he could cook and he never held back with the amount you got.

Staff are rude when an order is requested. Im not sure if the older man is the manager but he appears very arrogant and up his own arse. VERY RARELY do they have food that is on their menu! and also ackee and sailfish was very oil, chef must have changed would NOT RECOMMEND

Now im not really a person to moan about takeaways but this has to be said, ive been supporting this shop for a very long time but over the last 6to 12 months the standards have dropped . Hairy chicken running out of food in the middle of the day . Serving food of substandard , and then have the nerve to raise the prices .i wont be supporting this shop nomore and neither will my company ..

The lady with the short grey hair is rude and has NO manners or customer service skills. I brought chicken wings back that had loads hair on it, I mentioned it to her as it had not been swinched, her response was they never do it so why complain. I said the point is I am saying no one wants to eat chicken with feathers on it, she kissed her teeth and walked off saying there is no please in you. I ended up talking to the chef who listened and had much more manners than her. If she continues I'm sure the shop won't be in business much longer. I won't ever be buying from that shop again, which is a shame cz the owner Clive is nice and very polite

Good food, nice soup & dumpling. Plus telephone orders 🕶
