“The best fried chicken I've tasted in years” ★★★★★ TL;DR - The best fried chicken in my local area by far out of many fried chicken shops. Fried chicken and fries are literal perfection from all aspects and the golden standard of fast food. Give the hot wings a miss though. The Jumbo Strips wrap was delicious, yet it could welcome some add-on options (extra cheese, mayo, onions) on Uber Eats/Just Eat. I have been searching for a fried chicken place like this for AGES, I have tried many places in my local area and none come close to this. My order: - Party Buckets 1 (6 pcs chicken, 4 fries, 6 hot wings and 1.5ltr coke) - Jumbo Strips Wrap The fries are the *correct* thickness unlike the vast majority of other fried chicken shops these days. You also get that amazing flavour coming through, some other fries have no flavour at all but the fries from this place are the *golden* standard for a fried chicken shop. The chicken is phenomenal, the coating is crispy, has a great flavor and is well seasoned. The chicken is very juicy too, it arrived hot and fresh, it's always a *good* sign when the chicken arrives so hot that you struggle to break it apart. I really appreciated the cuts made after frying which made it easier to take apart. I received: 2 drumsticks, 1 thigh, 1 breast and 2 side breast pieces, all were perfect pieces. I'll be honest about the hot wings, I wasn't a fan, they were bland and not crispy, but do I care? No I don't and it will certainly not knock a star off the review as the rest of the food was perfect, I will simply not order the wings next time. It's no problem. The Jumbo Strips wrap, now this was great, I like how the strip is cut up finely so you get an even distribution across the wrap. I would have liked some more cheese, mayonnaise and red onions too. In fact, I had half the wrap left over and the next day I had a bit more cheese, mayo and also added some onions and it took the wrap a good few levels higher. I think it comes down to personal preference though and some people will disagree with me. Maybe an add-on option for extra cheese, mayo and onion on Uber Eats/Just Eat might be best.

Ordered to take out, waited about 10mins for the food. The grilled chicken was nice and the chips was hot and good.

Check your order before you leave this shop. They forgot to put chicken strips in. Told the staff check order, he goes don't worry its all there. Got home items missing. Poor service and delay also making food etc

Delicious tender chicken burger meal we had yesterday. The service was great professional and the place was very clean and tidy. Will be back for more when we are working locally.

Upmarket Chicken and chips shop. Don't go here expecting £1 chicken and chips. Good range of options both fried and grilled. Staff are friendly and helpful. 21/11/21: unfortunately standards and portion sizes have dropped and prices risen. Big poster on the wall claiming be to be freshest most succulent crispiest etc. definitely not!

Quick delivery. Nice food. Just a note the fries tasted like oil was a bit old. Coca-cola alternative was given which I thank the store for.

Ordered 2 grilled burgers as meals. Burgers were small (looks like 2 strips per burger), taste was average and prices were high. I don’t think they should continue to use the name Fat Chicken as there was nothing ‘fat’ about the chicken. If anything, it was smaller than usual. I won’t be going back. Such a shame as were great when they first opened but not now

I was doubtful coming here due to bad reviews. PLZ IGNORE THEM!! The service i received here was brilliant. The food was very tasty and I am very happy that i came.

Good thing it's HMC. Other than that its very un hygienic. The chicken seems to be fried in oil which has turned black due to being used for a long time. The quality of chicken used is also sub standard. The cold drink seems too diluted.

We ordered paninis from this place and there wasnt enough chicken in there when we opened it from the wrapper it easily broke in half. I spent a lot of money on this but there was not good quality food.

I'm only giving it a 1 star because I can't give it ZERO My panini had two small strips cut into it the cheese was nit melted the chicken that was given was dry an looked like it had been fried a million times over the DRINKS WHERE SMALLER THAN A CAN I will never be going back I jus hope my stomach will be ok

Used to be good food and affordable a year before now the food is disgusting and the prices are high! The burgers are not nice and the wraps used to be my all time favorite but now they are the worst one!

I refer to Raheem's review. Ist and last time for me. Burger in a paper, small fries and small drink and the burger is not a burger but strips!!! Ignoring all that the chicken was bone dry, bearly tasty and the bun, my God, disintegrated before picking it up. Neither the bun nor the chicken was fresh. Avoid this place as its a waste of money.

This place has fallen off so bad. I remember going here a while back and the food was quality, burgers were massive and genuinely one of my favourite shops which was why my display picture is a picture of one of the burgers I had ages ago. I visited this store today and it just wasn't the same, food was poor, I orders a mega mix which was the size of a single fillet burger and in no way FAT as the store name suggests. They give you a drink in a small little cup which you finish pretty much straight away and fries we're nothing to write home about. I don't know if this place is under new management but for the price you pay for a meal here, I expected I alot better. Won't be visiting again. Sad to see such a brilliant shop take such a U turn. :(

Food was excellent, chicken was nice n juicy and big portions.

Was good years ago when it opend. Now the staff are rude, the food is bland and they charge £7 for a burger meal with a tiny fries and water mixed with coke in a tiny cup. The shop is filthy and the attitude stinks. They use their bare hands to grab everything and slap the food together. Waste of money

Standards are dropping by the day… portions are smaller … prices raised up and guys answering the phone got attitude problems …. Don’t even deserve a single star…

Ordered panini meal and wrap meal to go. The food was very disappointing, chicken in both things were sparse and shredded. Wrap and panini were very dry and there was no cheese in the panini. How you can make a panini without cheese is beyond me 😳. Wrap only had a bit of lettuce and chicken no other salad. Food was tasteless. Never going back again.

Should be called normal chicken. I don't like leaving 1 star reviews. But I can't give this place anymore unfortunately. The first time I'm ordering from here in 3 years. The reason I stopped ordering was because the service was hilariously bad back then but the food was still good. I thought I would give them another chance. Well.. Back then the chicken was actually fat! The burger I received was barely bigger than a chicken strip and it was dry, I mean dessert dry. As you can see in the pictures. I ordered 5 grilled chicken strips but they were so small it was ridiculous. Overpriced and not worth it. A lot better food places out there. The only reason it gets 1 star is because I can't give zero and to give them some credit the fries were crispy and well seasoned. Also who the heck delivers burgers... In plain wrapping without a box.. So obviously there was damage. My burger bun disintegrated before I even picked it up. I live nearby. If the owner is reading this then please improve. When you first opened you were brilliant, now it's sad you're so bad.

Absolutely disappointed with the food. I have been ordering from this place ever since they’d newly opened and the food was of a high quality in terms of taste and portion size. Today, I placed an order after quite some time and my goodness was i disgusted. I ordered the fat chicken jalapeños burger (if i can call it that) there were NO jalapeños in the burger. It was stuffed with dry lettuce and a hard chicken fillet. Such a let down as I used to like their food. I wont be ordering from here again.

A total comedy of a s#*t hole Turned up on Friday evening g with 2 hungery autistic kids with my valid groupon voucher only to be told by incompetence staff I can't use it as the owner has gon out to watch the Liverpool game and took his phone with him Any self responsible small business owner knows all and e every customer is key so when u offer groupon discounts for god sake have the ability to let your staff deal with it Total comedy of a place and whey over priced food 4 doors away.. mac halal go there always busy and much better value

Old, dry and lukewarm chicken. Ordered a burger with cheese but they didn't put cheese in it. Ordered 5 wings but got 3 wings and 2 strips instead. Absolutely terrible, got the order wrong and everything was old and barely warm. Won't be eating here again.

Everything tasted super oily and greasy, old oil taste, very low quality compared to the price, won't recommend

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews.. I love this place, the food is always delivered hot and fresh, you have to wait quite a while for delivery, but it's worth the wait..

Good customer service. Food was fresh however the burger was a bit dry. The table were not cleaned and wiped. Would recommend the spicy rice with grilled chicken that was spot on!

*PRICE INCREASE* Apparently there was a price increase two months ago (March 2022), with every meal on the menu being increased by £1 due to 'rising fuel cost' and 'the crisis in Ukraine'. All the menus and digital screen shows the old pricing. Only when £4 was added to my bill, i realised there was a price increase. The manager excuse was the new menus are currently being printed and got AGGRESSIVE along with his staff when asked why customers were not informed but instead charged extra automatically. Seemed like all customers have been charged extra and didn't mind as according to him i was the first to complain since the price hike. Based on the customer service, and how immoral the staff are, i asked for a refund and left. After reading other reviews, seemed like we all dodged a bullet. I would instead recommend Mak Halal less than 30 seconds down the road. Higher quality food and reasonably priced. It's a shame as Fat Chicken used to be quite nice.

Been here a couple times and thought I’d leave a review. I’ve had bigger burgers before and this time I went with a smaller one so the bun don’t get eaten quicker than the chicken patty lol. Really nice crispy chicken, fries are decent, sauces tasty. I recommend but they are some big burgers for sure.

Went today, food was edible but not particularly tasty. Customer service wasn't great and it appeared staff were having some sort of passive aggressive argument with each other. As there are better alternatives nearby, unfortunately I won't be returning.

Best chicken burger iv ever had but was not worth the 3 day belly ache spent most of the 3 days after on the toilet but I'd risk it again because that burger I had was so nice shop needs a good clean very dirty probably why I was stuck on the toilet after eating from this pace

Ordered chicken steak burger and wings meal. HMc certified which was a big plus point, food was decent. Burger bun was like a plait roll Sainsburys sells,not tasty. Wife enjoyed the wings as she does not eat spicy. They don’t do fizzy cans only tap, so it was a bit awkward to carry them drinks and food together. Spicy red runny sauce come as standard but no mayo/ketchup. I should have asked I guess. There is competition around that area I think they should step up a little bit as they were not cheap.

Disgusting. Chicken was thick, dry and the breading tasted burnt. Chips were just as bad. The actual Chicken piece was more of a measly strip than a fillet...complete rip off. Wouldn’t recommend ended up chucking the whole meal away!

It's tasty food but long waiting to be service

To summarise: Overpriced food that tastes average and is served in very small portions. Very disappointing. To explain in more detail, I had a chicken wrap meal and here's what I found: CHICKEN WRAP (2/5)- Extremely stingy with the chicken they put in. Made all the more disappointing when it's advertised as "jumbo" pieces of chicken. Nothing jumbo about it. The wrap, already petite in size, had mostly mayonnaise and lettuce in it. CHIPS (3/5) - Not to my preference. But I won't hold that against them, as I know others like those type of fries. DRINK (1/5) - I had Coke. Now I know what you're thinking. "How on earth can you give drink of coke 1/5?". Well, I'm given it 1/5 because it was flat, diluted coke served in a baby carton. And it continued their trend of being incredibly stingy with their offerings. SAUCES (1/5) - Just one small tub of watered down tasteless chilli sauce (similar to the ones Pepe give). You know the type that doesn't even hold on to the chips you dip in? The runny dew just drops off. And they couldn't even spare a brother some mayonnaise. Won't be going back to these guys in a hurry. Quite possibly the most stingiest chicken place I've ever been to. Even a half-hearted Dixy shop on the corner of some ghetto area, exceeds this by miles in terms of taste, portions and overall value for money.

Fat chicken should b renamed as slim chicken Honestly over priced...there was more lettuce in the wrap than there was chicken.....no taste to the chicken no flavour what so ever.... Absolutely rip off. I wouldn't go there again

Ordered a grand tower chicken fillet burger but the main chicken fillet was less than half the size of the burger. The chicken was dry and sauces were too runny.

I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. MY ADVICE IS STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. 1st the customer service was rubbish,none existing. 2nd worker did not know what he was doing and he was working alone and had loads of orders, while the owner, his son and friends sat on the tables at the front smoking Sheesha and talking filth about women walking past. 3rd the best for last, the chicken smelt a little funny wen I got it home, but put it down to spices. Anyway few hours after eating I began to get sick, vomiting none stop all throughout the night and day. STAY AWAY

Big portions but chicken is chewy

Sauces and burger buns are a bit like marmite if I'm honest. If you want a generic take away meal, I'd go for the chicken wrap.

Crispy chicken on a soft bun. Soo tasty and enough chicken : bun ratio because alot if restaurants dont put enough chicken in. Chicken really is #fat and juicy :))) Mango drink is too nice with the whole meal and fries were good too. Ordered on uber and it came quickly with lots of sauces too

Walked in to get an Exclusive Cheeseburger that contains 2 peri strips in it as well. It tasted great. I will definitely be coming back again as I am always highly satisfied with the food. Thanks Fat Chicken 👍👍

This place is over priced for the quality of food. The chicken is old and dry. The portion sizes are small and they are stingy with their drinks and don’t fill the cup to the top. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. Also in store prices are higher than advertised online.

Not sure why all the low reviews? I love coming to Fat Chicken!! The only place that gives you a decent sized piece of chicken which is its namesake! Dont get me wrong, Its not a 'dine' in place but for the food it is worth it and the prices are good too. I enjoy coming here with the family. Keep it up Faisal.

Been here couple times. First time i went it was okay, yet dry chicken so i gave it another shot as a friend really wanted to try it... the food was yet again dry however this time an extra special rude member of staff topped the experience for us. The owner is a nice chap, however needs to understand what his staff are when he is not around.

Was passing by thought I’d try this place out, everything looks good look wise. However Bossman recommend to try burger, seriously it was awful dry. It’s a shame thought it will b really good. Btw there wings are dead taste like honey or something, the only thing was nice was drink lemon & lime.

Staff don't know how to talk to customers properly and so come across as being rude....... they just don't have the correct etiquette to talk to customers. The food Ordered a full chicken with 4 fries and 2 drinks to share. This is only just enough for 2 people. The chicken is cooked well. Should have a choice of spice/flavour offered when you order the chicken. The burgers are very big. Almost too big to have enough flavour all the way through. The fried chicken is very tasty. Overall ok Wouldn't come back in a hurry

Very disappointed the salad was old slushy chicken was chewy old in the salad. Worst food I’ve ever tasted. I came all the way from hinckley to collect the order it was disappointed.

Since one of the old worker has come back I must say food has been brilliant as a few months ago food was always dry n not fresh but nw I must say the food quality has been brilliant

Customer service is very bad, we asked for peri peri chicken been told 30 mins as they were very ‘busy’, we then changed the order and asked for jalapeños which were out of stock. This resulted in a wasted journey for us, was a good shop before.

This place has been one place I go to as its local and th food is consistent. I do like their menu and the chicken is off good quality and the variation is excellent. They know how to marinate it well and to get the most flavour of the food. Trust me it is not bland. For a good and clean grilled or fried chicken this is your place. The place is actually very clean as your shoes do not stick onto the tiles when walking. I honestly can say the management is well. Organised. However when the management is not there the staff tend to me lazy and have the cant be bothered attitude. And on more then 3 occasion they have gave me 20 mins for a burger answered. Mate its fast food there is not etiquette in fast food or comes to you fast and you eat it fast. It's not A la carte menu. So please dont say its will take 20 mins to compile a burger together. Especially someone who is a cheff! Apart from that they must either employ new motivated staff who are not trying to be lazy and not do the job they are paid to do as this will affect the business. Apart from that good quality clean food well done. Honestly after the 3rd time they lost me.

Chicken was extremely dry and even after requesting to have the table cleaned nothing was done. Also the amount of drink they offer in the plastic cups is less then that of a can. Very disappointed.

Average food. Nothing special. First takeout was actually quite bland and horrible. Chicken fillet burger. Like to give everything a second chance. Chicken wrap - or something similar. Ok. Not really worth it for the money. Big Fish still upholds the standard. Sorry
