Porthole Coffee Shop delivered a delightful experience with my first Pakistani breakfast, which was nothing short of perfect. The rich, authentic flavors and warm, inviting atmosphere made it a memorable place for me, worth revisiting again!

Haven't Been Here For A Long Time So Thought On way to work pop in a grab a sandwhich never again me & my brother both got egg & sausage bun took a bite and tasted absolutely vile at this point my brother had taken a bite out of his and spat it straight out turns bun over and bun was full of mould 🤮 took them back into shop and they asked if we wanted another no thanks so they refunded us for only one sandwhich when both buns were covered in mould I would avoid at all costs just standard to have fresh food without mould

Service is horrible and lady in counter is rude towards customer don't recommend anyone going there worst experience

I have been many a times to this cafe, and each time the staff have been lovely and the food is excellent and good value for money. I've had a variety of dishes and enjoyed everyone. A lovely coffee shop and in a perfect location across from Albert park. If you fancy an a nice ice cream on a hot summer's day it's a perfect treat.

Nice halal breakfast for delivery and if visiting a cute ice cream for the kids. The lady who owns it is absolutely lovely when serving

Although food is halal and totally açceptable for just being a roadside cafe it seems a bit expensive.

Couldn't make beans on toast lol freezing cold and you could see the yellow margarine cold on the bread rude lady and atmosphere was horrible ppl just staring at you

The Desi meal for 11£ is a nice deal and heavy meal if you're really starving. Enjoyed it.. It comes with a paratha, sweetdish, half boiled egg, and some veggie along with a cup of tea

The chicken biryani we ordered was nothing more than a fried rice with some chicken pieces with a boiled egg and the chicken was not even fresh. We were really hungry so we even paced an order of aloo paratha that was also not up to the mark. I hope you would take the review as an opportunity to improve your dishes for customers.

Didn't know it had changed to halal. Not to our taste.

Halal bacon instead of proper bacon, that was of poor quality and didn't taste very good. Over priced as well, a good cup of tea.

The parathas are really good and the desi omelette go well together If you fancy a treat now and again, this is the place to go to

Excellent place! Fantastic staff. Great value for money. I had no idea this place did Desi breakfast until I seen The Food Troll video. We had the Desi breakfast with Desi Tea & Pink Tea. Food was good and all made to order. Can’t wait to return and try other items on the menu. Great bonus to find out the full menu was halal!

Place is very cozy and Desi atmosphere. I really like food and it was desi breakfast. The lady over working there ; she is very sweet. And the pink chai is role model for me. Even more, I don't like sweet but her halwa is best ever halwa. It wasn't too sweet and wasn't tasteless; It just touched my heart. I would really go there more nd more.

We came all the way from London and search a place to go for breakfast and found this place. I would definitely recommend to visit this restaurant the food was amazing. Pratha and chana was so delicious specially service was amazing felt us like a home. 😇

I dropped by Porthole cafe on short notice and I was pleasantly surprised by the selection. It is fully halal and I ordered the lasagne and a shish kebab panini, both meals were lovely and really good portions, my only minor tweak would have been for a bit more spice in the lasagne. I also ordered a side of aloo tikis and these were divine, the sauces were also decent. They also have a really good dessert selection which looked awesome and a good selection of hot drinks. I had a fantastic customer experience with the staff, they were welcoming and chatty and made me feel very comfortable, Overall a really nice place to eat.

Just had a aaloo paratha. I've had fresh one before and it was nice. This one was £5 it says £4.50 on the digital menu in our faces, it was cooked prior and re-warmed. Literally had no patato in it. The owner obviously knows how to make decent food, but chooses to feed out sub standard quality knowingly.

Nice family run business with some good quality food and excellent service. I'd recommend a visit.

Went to try the desi breakfast as recommended by the TFT...a popular local food blogger and was disappointed as I only got half an egg in my chana and the menu needs to be clear in regards to what paranta you get with the breakfast as aloo paranta will cost you more and can lead to bill confusion....on a brighter note the food tasted excellent!!

It's been a good while since I've been here; I'm guessing it's under new management now because the menu seems totally different; but screw it?.... I got the chicken tikka burger; that was as nice as I was expecting; I got some samosas; there were different to what I was expecting; although maybe they were more traditional; those were actually nice.... I tried their spring rolls; a lot bigger than you'd expect; with a mash like filling; I'm guessing potatoe+peppers+cheese+something green+something else all mashed together; then the standard spring roll caseing; considering they were so difficult to what I was expecting; it was lush.... I'd recommend this cafe to anyone in the area; quick bite to eat before taking the kids around Albert's Park?

I ordered the Full English it was very nice fresh and hot. Very filling service was great.

I ordered full English breakfast, the breakfast was great, on point. The place has old school traditional English cafe feel which is lovely. The coffee was really nice, coming from devote costa drinker.

This cafe used to be an excellent place to go for their breakfast buns,instead the staff were unfriendly ( Muslims) they had bacon on the menu but it was t bacon,so we got a chip butty, an egg cup of salt and tea dumped on the table.The other customers were all foreign and made us feel uncomfortable. Won't be returning there again, another good cafe ruined.

Was okay? Loved the old place. It was a bit cold inside and needed to leave my coat on, The lady serving even had a hat on as well as a coat. Was very quiet no one in when we entered and still no additional people had entered before we left.

I've visited this cafe on and off for many years and always a place I think of for a full English breakfast but on my last visit 22/10/2022 the breakfast was a bit disappointing consisting of 2 slices of toast, 2 sausages, 2 eggs, beans in a pot, 2 hash browns with mushrooms and a cup of tea; 2 bacon... well maybe not quite bacon, not sure what it was but it was awful had a bacon flavour to it but was pretty unpleasant the mushrooms were under-cooked and the tea cup had rings around the inside of it obviously wasn't cleaned properly, everything else was good and cooked well, the sausages were nice too but that bacon has to go, total deal breaker for me so would not order another English breakfast from here, I have ordered other foods from here in the past without complaint though, I just think the standards have slipped a bit. The staff were lovely in fairness, very polite and quick to get the order with table service, total cost for 2 meals was £14.00 but the other meal a burger was not anything special, poor quality meat, chips were good though at £7 a person for a greasy spoon type cafe it felt a bit expensive considering the quality and portion sizes, there's better value higher quality cafes near-by so I think management need to review a few things and get this back to being a popular spot, I would have left 2 stars but having used this cafe so many years now I think that would be unfair based off just the last visit. cafe was clean inside, everything was readily available, large variety of condiments, easy parking on less busy days with other amenities near by including a petrol station, park, off license and not a long walk from the cinema. Overall needs improvement but the staff seem willing enough I think to do that, I will be back and hoping for a better experience in the future but I don't think for a full English.

Me and my husband tried the English and the Desi breakfast today, absolutely loved it, food was tasty and hot, delivery was quick and will defo be ordering again x

Very bad experience, I don't even want to give a 1 Star. I ordered chicken biriyani for a function at home and the lady who picked up the call said it will be ready to collect by 2 pm for sure. I even asked her, shall I give some deposit, she said no need you can straight away pay and collect on Saturday. So as usual I just called before I start from my home, and they are telling they don't have the food. The one who picked the call went to Dubai yesterday, so they are not aware of this order....Can't trust them again and I won't suggest anyone who make preorders here...

Terrible service. Rude staff. I was refused the cup of tea that I paid for when ordering breakfast - which has tea included - on the menu. They were fine to take my money, but didnt understand English when it came to giving me my order. Will never visit again. Close them down!

Visited today wouldn't recommend at all went years ago and wasn't same owners no food in as asked for either sheperds pie or parmos didn't have any so ended up with x2 breakfast bacon and sasauges aren't pork drinks and cutlery weren't served until meals were brought blonde lady wasn't much crack tbh no conversation also very over priced quality is poor

First time at this place. It was nice and clean. Food is slight overpriced for what it is. Would rate the food 5/10.

We popped in for some breakfast, I ordered a full English breakfast. The eggs were swimming in fat, there were only 5 slices of mushroom and 1 rasher of bacon which wasn't bacon it was a turkey rasher the breakfast was also minus the tomatoes which it was meant to come with. I found out after reading the very small print at the bottom of the menu that it was Halal bacon. I expect it to be advertised that they are a Halal cafe, not a footnote at the bottom of a menu. The menu is overpriced, with it being over £3.50 for a bacon and egg sandwich, which had 1 egg and two-piece of turkey rasher. I have no problem with eating Halal or purchasing it, but I would expect to know before I order food at a cafe that that is what is served. The overall standard of food and value is poor. However, we did get a reduction in price after complaining.

Strange set up. Looks like a sort of takeaway inside with tables. Does serve coffee as the name suggests but didn't feel like a coffee shop and wasn't particularly clean. The lady serving was pleasant enough. I wouldn't visit for a second time.

Waited 45mins for 2x cheese tosties,theres was only 2 people in there before us.i had to get up to the counter twice to ask where my order was when it finally came there was only cheese in the middle of the bread and bread was hardly toasted.won't be going in again

They don't do bacon sandwiches anymore so it's a no from me. The place is clean and tidy though and they do a good selection of other food.

My wife and I found this to be a great place to go to for a great cup of tea. Great value and a safe venue with excellent staff. They have a great food and drink menu at very good value. We shall definitely return for a meal.

Food and drinks are good , but toilets need some attention ,nowhere to dry hands , loo seat hanging off and not all that clean , shame because other than that it's fine

What a lovely little place to stop for a coffee or bite to eat. Very reasonably priced! Friendly staff make it a very enjoyable experience. Will be back next time I'm over in Middlesbrough 😄 highly recommend this fantastic place and its lovely staff

Handy for tea or coffee when you've had a walk in the park (Albert Park). I've not eaten here yet, although the surroundings are such that I would try something if wanted. I have glanced at the menu and it appears to have an extensive range of menu items and, having seen food being served, I can say that the portion size is more than adequate!

Absolutely minging, I hadn’t been for a long time... well since it was the good old greasy cafe (which was its best) these don’t do bacon and it’s now 100% halal. The sausages must be the cheapest nastiest produce Money could buy, the bacon is replaced by turkey rations which were disgusting and they have the cheek to call it an English breakfast. The toilets are also disgusting. Avoid at all cost!

Over all food was good and variety of English and Asian food in the display. Good customer service, specially the lady in the kitchen who always offers help... will be back

This is a nice and very clean cafe. Cutlery is immaculate, food is really nice...2 sausages, 1 egg, 1 hash brown in a bun £3. All cups for coffee are the same size but you can get Cappuccino £2.15 for 2 shots in it instead of 1....recommended if you like your coffee strong. Staff were very polite. Update 23/07/19:still the same level of service. Staff polite, premises always clean, coffee and food still great. Nice to see the same level of standards a couple of months on.
