If you're in Llangollen, a visit to Porter's is delightful. We went in with the intention of buying a couple of gifts, but came out with a selection of yummy cheeses (I've just had some), pate's, pantone and lovely biscuits. The shopkeeper was very helpful when it came to recommending types of cheese, and everything was perfectly wrapped. We'll be calling in again on our next visit, thats for certain.

You have to visit this gem of a deli , the cheeses are second to none , a very large selection , quite a few continental cheeses too. They sell a selection of vegetarian foods , honey , jams , marmalade , pate , baked goods cakes and pies pickled sauerkraut , relishes ,chocolate ,the list goes on and best of all the don't charge silly prices , very reasonable.

I visited this delicatessen yesterday afternoon as I always do when in Llangollen, as I like the Bay tree chutney they sell and their cheeses. I was greeted by large sign written on door to Sanitise !!!! So I made my way in being sure to sanitise my hands in entrance. Because I was concentrating so hard on sanitising, I inadvertently forgot to put on my mask. However unaware of this I greeted the sour faced older lady behind till with a cheery "Hello" she glared at me and didn't smile or respond. I browsed right hand side of shop then walked across front of till to look at right hand side. I noticed they had a stack of good food awards magazines by till which are free and usually interesting. Because I didn't want to be rude I asked politely if they were free, despite knowing they are. She barked at me very pointedly " For customers , yes" . At this point she had no idea whether I was going to buy anything or not. I immediately placed it back in counter and left shop. She has single handedly ensured I will never enter this shop again. I don't know why she was so rude and am assuming it was because I wasn't wearing a mask. However instead of greeting me nicely and politely asking if I was exempt from mask wearing ( again she had no idea of my medical status) , upon which I would have immediately realised my mistake and apologised and put my mask on. Given the horrendous year retailers have had I think it's such a shame that she behaved this way, frankly if I was small independent retailer I'd be extremely nice and pleased to have customers again. In future I'll buy the chutney in Waitrose ( where it's also cheaper) and won't be supporting this small retailer again.

Popped into this delicatessen, the cheese counter is in front of you as you walk in, lots of delicious Welsh cheese to chose from, I spoke to the lady about each cheese I was selecting after the discussion I took her word on each cheese and she was spot on! Those cheese's are delicious, really tasty fresh and well kept. I can definitely recommend and will return. Covid secure.

Good variety of local delicatessen. We were going to get quite a bit from this shop as they look good, but unfortunately the lady’s attitude was quite off putting and not welcoming. It felt like she was forced to allow us into her shop.

There is a lot to like about this place. It is full for Welsh food and delights. I was keen to take home some Welsh treats but only managed some Bara Brith and a bottle of very good Welsh cider. There are many Welsh products here including tempting cheese and Welsh gin. This is a very good shop and around the corner is Gales an excellent wine merchant. Therefore if you are here camping or in a dull hotel there is no reason not to go to Porter's and Gales shop and wine bar to get goodies and treats. Next time I would do both but nip round to Aldi for some padding. That way you cannot go wrong!

Hubby and me went shopping in Llangollen on a recent Tuesday afternoon. We went inside this Deli and bought a 225g packet of lemon Aberffraw biscuits - these are hand-made Welsh buttery shortbread biscuits with a hint of lemon zest. They originated from Anglesey and are said to be the oldest biscuit in Britain. I particularly like them because they are shaped like scallop shells. They were priced at £3.80 (the plain ones are £3.50) - contactless card payments accepted. They taste even better with a nice cup of English tea.

Porters' is always a 'must visit' in Llangollen. Still sourcing wonderful cured meats and cheeses and notably from Wales. The spectacular Welsh cheddar Black Bomber from nearby Snowdonia is a favourite. Porter's was not phased to send a BB by post. It's so easy...

Popped in this store for a nose whilst passing through the town. The window display was nice and suggested inside would have some good finds.Wasn't disappointed. So much stuff inside that you wouldn't find in a local supermarket. Huge range of condiments (both sweet and savoury), cheeses, ales and so forth. My other half got some local brews. I got some salt with herbs in, came in a lovely pot. I could have got so much more, particularly some oils and dips but we didn't want to risk them getting broken on our road trip! If you like cooking, food and drink, go to this store. You will not be disappointed and will find some wonderful little gems. Likewise gifts for anyone who likes that something different.

After a leisurely look round we left without a word being spoken to us - small shops should encourage interaction, it makes you feel welcome. We used Porter's to design and delivery a wedding cheesecake to our venue at Plas Isaf, Corwen. They were absolutely brilliant, from the initial 'tasting' they recommended the best local/wlesh cheeses to suit our chosen meal, and were very responsive to our queries - and competitively priced. When the cake arrived - we were amazed. It looked fantastic and was well decorated with fruit and (our florists) flowers. So many compliments on the day.We definitely over ordered, and used the cake as part of our evening food. It was decimated - absolutely nothing left! Everyone said how delicious the cheese was, and that was evidence by none of it remaining! We would 100% recommend porters for a wedding cheesecake - it was great experience when you're very stressed with other things, knowing you can rely on these guys give you one less thing to worry about!!!cheers Tracey!

Wanted to take some Welsh cheeses home after our holiday in Llangollen and boy, what a choice. Porters is a real treasure. It's my birthday today and last night Mrs Porter knocked on my door carrying a hamper a friend had sent to me. What delights and so well presented. The prosciutto and salami's were beautifully packaged, the peccorino equally so and the balsamic vinegar, olive oil and various biscuits, nibbles, jars of frutti del bosco, sun dried tomatoes and pesto had me salivating as I looked at them. All of the stuff was genuine and first class. So far I have nibbled at the prosciutto and what a joy that was. It is extraordinary that in a town as small as this one, we should have an Italianate delli of such quality. You must go - it's a joy.

Porters is our local deli in Llangollen and we live a stone's throw from it. That being the case we would probably feel fortunate having any type of deli nearby, particularly as Llangollen is a small town, but Porters really is a cut above what we could reasonably expect and does us proud. The shop is not huge but the space is used very well and they manage to stock a really good range of items. Of particular note and delight is the extensive range of cheeses - including many locally produced artisan cheeses. There are many here that I have simply never seen anywhere else and the staff, particularly Tracy, can give you very full information on each one of them. As I say it is a very impressive range for a comparatively small deli. I have seen shops many times the size that don't come anywhere close to the Porters' range. Other things worth noting - at least in my map of the world - are the range of good quality coffee beans, the range of charcuterie meats and the wonderful Patchwork range of pates. Some of these are simply to die for.I shouldn't forget to mention the selection of fresh olives and the extensive range of bottles sauces and other products. In addition to this Porters do a range of kitchen ware items such as cheese boards, cruet sets, oil jars and the like. A couple of Christmases ago I also purchased a Swedish steel nutcrackers which has so far proved indestructible (I have a bit of a track record of breaking nut-crackers by not knowing my own strength).Last but not least, on certain days of the week they have a basket of freshly baked, local artisan breads. You may have guessed by now that I love Porters and think it is a great addition to this lovely town.

On a visit to LLangollen we stumbled upon Porter's by accident and were so glad we did. The shop is stocked to the brim with an eclectic range of foods ranging from fine wines, indulgent preserves and chutneys, olives, had carved parma ham, a variety of olive oils, liqueurs, mead, cheeses, salamis, freshly ground coffee and so on. I manage to complete at least on bout of Christmas shopping just by going there it is an Aladdin's cave of gourmet delights. I would definitely recommend this deli for gifts as well as own consumption - fantastic and probably a lot less than you would pay for similar foods in Harrods or Selfridges.

Fab lunch today in this cute family run cafe in Rhewl on the way to Ruthin (first left just past Drovers Pub) Small shop area with gifts but mainly a cafe with lots of seating plus outdoor seating overlooking the Clwydian mountain range. Reasonable prices and great lunch and breakfast menu choices. We also noticed an afternoon tea on the table next to us (we asked to take a photo) looked delicious 👏👏. 5/5 👜 handbag cafe review well worth a trip out 👍 Mug Run

This is now called Boba Geeks Cafe. We went in expecting the usually greasy cafe food with frozen chips . We were pleasantly surprised. Home made chips with sausage, egg and beans all cooked to perfection. The chef uses all fresh ingredients in all his food and does a traditional roast on a Sunday. We paid £21 for 3 meals and 3 drinks which I thought was a real bargain.
