A good old school watering hole devoid of pretentious planks. A good team of bar staff and the owner seems to have her finger on the pulse of local requirements.

Lovely staff and great karaoke on Fridays and Saturdays me and my pals go in and always have great night out🙌 atmosphere is amazing and everyone is always really friendly x

A place where the beer is delicious, the customers are friendly, and the customers are pleasant. The bathroom sink is impressive.

We stopped in for some food. I got the chicken burger and my husband got the Scottish breakfast. Good food at a good price and the lady working was very nice and friendly

Lovely staff, great Kareoke on a Monday 2.pm start till 8.15 approx...but the Staff are very good on the juke box to keep the music going, must be said that the regular crowd are good on the Kareoke as well, all in all its a smashing pub with bus stops just outside the door and straight across the street to Prestonpans for me and smashing Tenants Lager as well 9.5 oot o 10. From me...👍

Will not be returning eggs were like rubber, tattie scones were absolutely soaked in oil, haggis was a sloppy mess, black pudding was ok but not proper black pudding super sweet instead of peppery, will say the sausage that they are using good but for 18 quid to enjoy a small portion of what was actually edible would not recommend

An honest neighborhood pub, honest food, and a charming owner! We had a lovely Scottish breakfast here to start the day!! And very affordable prices if that wasn't enough!

As a Spanish tourist I tell you that Porters is totally recommended to enjoy an authentic Scottish experience. Good beer, good atmosphere, friendly staff and top locals. A must stop to get to know the authentic Scotland. I will miss them...

Worst Sunday dinner ever , tough inedible beef, ordered a beef and a chicken, got ham and a tiny bit of chicken instead of a full chicken dinner, one Yorkshire instead of two , first time trying this place and it’s my lady £30 I’ll spent and left hungry

Came in to play darts and we were given a warm and friendly welcome. The barman checked to see we were all set up with the lights etc. Would love if they had the wooden oche strip on the floor but we still had a great time. We'll be coming back. Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍

Stopped in for a pint and a pie after a long walk. The staff was very friendly and all of the locals were friendly as well. Great way to experience the local culture - very non-touristy.

Didn't have anything to eat so can't rate the food. Very friendly bar. Enjoyable time mainly due to the acting manager she was helpful and entertaining.

Over the years I’ve had my doubts about this bar because of the previous owners or landlords. I was pleasantly surprised when myself and my missis nipped in for a quick drink to find the bar lively with great atmosphere and some karaoke going on. You can see that who ever the new owner/landlord is has made some changes for the best and made it a pub worth going any day of the week. The lovely lady doing the karaoke had fantastic chat and was playing all the classics. All in all a very pleasant visit and we will definitely be back again.

Great pub that has gone from strength to strength under the new management. Pub is spotless, best pint in the area and there’s always something to keep you occupied whether it being karaoke, disco or a simple game of darts in the large games room.

Served my son underaged, who’s 15 didn’t ask for id and came home intoxicated very unprofessional staff also quite rude too when I’ve been in there. if you want to drink in meadow bank go to ballroom this place is a shot show from top to bottom .

Sold me a drink that had already been half drunk then started threatening me that they kenned the ccs

Came here a few times and each time it was worse, staff are very unprofessional and take there job as a joke. I’ve seen staff pulling on the job, overcharging the alcohol and threatening customers. Never seen a more unprofessional pub in all my days. Only once out of about 10 times have I had a good experience in this pub. Please whatever you do DO NOT go to this pub.

What a fantastic makeover this bar has had! A wonderful fresh look with friendly staff and a lively atmosphere on a Friday evening. The manager took the time to talk us through some of the changes and what other excitint new things will be coming up soon. Wonderful experience and will definitely be back!

Pubs the way they used to be. This is one of the oldest pubs in Edinburgh (it dates back to 1793), but it's definitely not on the tourist trail. The internal features are cited in Scotland heritage directory. If it was closer to the centre it would've been converted into a dead trendy pub by now. Food is burger or wraps.
