Porterhouse Restaurant in Aberdeenshire

Food is absolutely fantastic and could not fault it. We haven't been for a few years but enjoyed our return visit till i went to pay the bill, because of covid they were only accepting cards (or preferred cards) so that's all i had with me. When presented with the card machine all you can see is "Add 15%, 20% or 25% gratuity" on the display screen!! and with the waitress standing holding the machine in front of you and because of covid she didn't seem to want me touching it more than i had to, so you are put under pressure to leave a tip. Now i always usually leave a tip after a meal but this pressure is off putting especially with the percentage figures displayed and this will probably put me off visiting again unfortunately.

We visited Porterhouse for lunch today, 2 adults and a 10 month old. We felt very safe, all covid measures in place. Well spaced between other diners. Food as always delicious, freshly prepared, hot, reasonably priced with excellent service. Despite having to wear masks you can still see the staffs smiling eyes! Our wee baby was loving the attention from them too! Can’t wait for our next visit.

Going to a restaurant during Covid-19 is always strange but felt really comfortable at Porterhouse. Ordered medium rare steaks which were cooked beautifully and the service was very friendly and welcoming.

I went with family today for the Carvery, it was nice to see that the covid precautions were fully adhered too, a one way system, sanitiser readily available and all the Staff fully masked up.The Carvery was excellent as is all the food served there. Today's selection was roast beef, turkey and gammon, I had the turkey and beef, thick slices, all very tender and tasty with the usual choice of vegetables, served with hot gravy and a very large Yorkshire pudding. Graham Fryers was on the carving today and a cracking job he made of it too, I only just managed to finish the lot, too good to leave !After a few minutes breathing space the Cranberry Bread pudding was the dessert of my choice and it certainly didn't disappoint either, it was really good too.We all we very pleased with the meals and the service and are looking forward to going again before long.Pre Covid I have been to a couple of the Thursday night Steak dinners for two and they served the best steaks I have had anywhere.If you are intending to go for a meal any time I would suggest you book as it gets very busy and with the reduction in table numbers due to the virus there are fewer spaces available. Booking on their website is very easily done with immediate confirmation too.

Visited for lunch yesterday.Food was piping hot and very tasty.Fish was very fresh and cooked to perfection. Burger was homemade and tasted really good. Prices are very competitive. Great value for money. Service excellent.

Visited for first time for lunch. Easy to find, ample parking, nice atmosphere and COVID aware. Food was first class, good portions but not too much as is often the case. Very reasonable bill, 2 mains (one of which was a steak), 2 puddings, 2 wines, 1 whisky and 1 coffee £67. Very friendly ladies serving the day we visited. Can definitely recommend. There was nothing we didn't like.

We’ve been here a few times for dinner and Sunday car very. The food is absolutely delicious. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly with nothing being a bother. We have 2 small children and it’s a lovely relaxed atmosphere. If ever you’re thinking of going out for a nice lunch or dinner, the Portherhouse is a must!

The Porterhouse is one of my preferred dining out experiences for two reasons. I have always had excellent service with tasty well cooked food. Did you know they also have the best vegetarian menu across the whole of Aberdeenshire. It is a separate menu so you have to ask for it. Just great to have a steakhouse catering for my vegetarian family and friends.

We took our nephew for a steak to celebrate his 60th......he has enjoyed many steaks in the past but reckons his Ribeye was best ever. The four of us really enjoyed our meal

Best steak in the north east of Scotland. Been to this restaurant quite a number of times and never been disappointed. Staff very friendly and food cooked to perfection.

First visit here and defo be returning. Nice decor. Friendly staff(Sophie). Safe distancing. Food - superb! Wife’s Rib-eye was amazing. Beautiful charred taste and so tender. Homemade chips fab. My duet of Pork was also great. Full of flavour. Soft juicy Pork Belly. Crispy Panèd Pork Cheek. Tasty veg accompaniment. Mum’s Brisket burger was delish and HUGE. Cheeseboard was massive - and varied choices - great touch with fruit loaf - went so well with all the cheeses. Banana/Caramel Soufflé was perfect end to meal. Not too big and so light.

Superb meal out, food was 100%, we had 2 sirloins & 2 fillets which were cooked to perfection & extremely tasty. The blue cheese sauce is delish also. Followed by sticky toffee pud & a souffle which was out of this world. The ambience great considering lockdown restrictions & we had such nice time, we were last out. For steaks you won't find a better place to eat. Hopefully have sambucca before we return next time

We went for a lovely meal here on Friday 2nd Oct, lovely meal and will definitely return. We both felt really safe with the COVID restrictions in place, this was our first meal out following the new restrictions and I would have no reason not to return as the Porterhouse have made it really easy to follow. The staff were lovely and couldn’t have done more for us while we were there. The meal was brilliant, really tasty food and a good selection to choose from. We will definitely be booking again and will be letting family and friends know of our experience too! Brilliant first night out following the new restrictions being in place!

Thursday night Wine and DineFirst visit since Porterhouse reopened following the lockdown. All Co-vid precautions and hygiene are first class. Great airy atmosphere and friendly staff.The food - absolutely first class as ever from Graham and his team. Lovely seafood chowder, very very tasty and tender steak followed by awesome banana souffle. Delicious! Lots of very tempting dishes on the menu and great value.

This should be a 5 star review. The food was terrific - the service was great and the staff were brilliant. Weve been here multiple times pre lockdown and can safely say the food has not dropped a single peg. So the only reason I cannot give 5 stars is due to the government imposed extreme 'covid' restrictions. The atmosphere of the place has been shot - no ambient music, staff wearing face masks damaging their own health. The capacity of the place has been capped and it's now running reduced opening days. Again the government is knowingly killing these places. I really hope businesses start fighting back against these totally unfair and draconian control measures before it's too late. The official narrative of these measures are to 'save lives' but lockdowns have proven to destroy more than they save and this great place could be another victim.

Lovely food. The staff are first class. The hygiene appears to be perfect. Overall I would highly recommend this place to others.

We visited the Porterhouse on Friday 18th Sept. for the first time, it was my Sister and Brother-in-law's Golden wedding recently and my Wife and I thought it would be nice to take them out for a meal. We decided on the Porterhouse because they still had a full menu to offer and due to the high praise for the restaurant in Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed, the food was first class, the steaks/lamb were done to perfection, the juiciest and tastiest I have had in a long time, the starters and sweets were equally well prepared and tasty. Everything was served by efficient and very personable waitresses. All agreed it was a first class meal and a first class experience, even taking into account all the necessary Covid-19 precautions. We will certainly return.

The Porterhouse is a great place for all. The fillet steak was fantastic. The service was excellent and the whole team provided a brilliant evening out. Well done to the Porterhouse team.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant many a time and never had a bad meal (the steaks are incredible), but I wanted to write a proper review during the madness of Covid-19. The management and staff have thought of everything to make sure you can still enjoy the normality of a delicious meal out, whilst knowing your safety is also their top priority. A simply one way system around very well spaced out tables ensures you can keep at a safe and social distance from other diners. The staff are all wearing appropriate PPE gear, the menus are paper and are taken away after use. I witnessed a table being cleaned in preparation for the next guests arriving and absolutely everything was wiped down, cleaned and sanitised - the chairs, the table, the salt and pepper - everything else (like cutlery, for example) is brought out when you arrive. That aside, we were looked after, service was great and the food was brilliant - it always is. Will be back! :)

During current Covid Restrictions, the management and staff have nailed it. We had a table for two for our anniversary and our server was very efficient. Food top notch, wine was lovely and we left very happy.

My family and I visited Porterhouse tonight to celebrate my 30th birthday. We had an absolutely faultless meal and the staff couldn't have been more accomodating. The restaurant have adapted to the pandemic perfectly. They seamlessly explained on arrival how to order and how to navigate around the restaurant to ensure social distancing. Most of our table ordered steaks, and we all couldn't of spoken highly enough about them (my mum had haddock and loved it). The desserts and fudge were incredible- particularly the Nutella cheesecake with salted caramel ice cream, delicious. The staff literally couldn't of been nicer to us during our visit and they even let my mum and step dad decorate our table with birthday pieces earlier on in the day. All in all, a perfect birthday meal, thank you :)

Great post lockdown meal on our staycation. Felt reassured by the vídeo online about what to expect when we got there. Food was delicious and staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

We chose Porterhouse as our first meal out after lockdown and we’re not disappointed! New precautions were all explained and the restaurant is really well set out. We took my 92 year old gran with us who was concerned that her teeth may not be up to a steak but happy to report that the fillet was melt in the mouth and she managed just fine! Food was excellent (pig cheek starter was the star of the show), wine was great and reasonably priced and staff were really helpful.

We visited porterhouse in march as a family ,, we were not disappointed one bit. Atmosphere was fantastic we were unsure whether to dine out with the whole covid_19 being spoken about. The meal was fantastic and service was great. The gentle man that served us was so pleasant and looked over our two children while myself and my partner went to collect our carvery. Sat afternoon lunch for two as passing though Aberdeenshire was great - this place is a hidden gem as we were not aware this place was even there. Glad we were seated at the window as I bet the outside area will be great to sit in when the weather improves. We both had the beef and potato soup, as part of a sandwich deal, which was great value for money. As we are both keen cooks, we spent a great deal of time pondering how the soup was quite so tasty and meaty :-)The steak sandwich was perfect. Recommend this and will stop when passing again Waitress staff were very friendly esp one who kindly guided us to view the rare breeds event on downstairs.

We visited the restaurant on a Friday evening, we opted for 2 courses (although the soufflé looked amazing but was too full to try it). I had the soup and my hubby had the salmon followed by a sirloin steak each which was cooked to perfection and was the best steak we have tasted. Starters were great too. Can't wait to go back.

Amazing food in relaxed but busy surroundings. Friendly and welcoming staff were on hand and we couldn’t fault our 3 course meal. Loved the ‘local’ ingredients touch.

We had a wonderful Sunday afternoon buffet at Porterhouse. Ages ranged from 8-72 and everyone was catered for. Excellent lunch and staff helpful and friendly.

I booked a table for 3 on Feb 20th by telephone for Sunday March 1st at 12,30. When we arrived they had no record of my booking. This was a bit upsetting but thankfully they found us a table, It was a bit overcharged for the desserts as we only ordered one dessert and an additional 2 individual scoops of ice bream. We were charged for 3 complete deserts. !! Overall the quality of the food was very good and service was attentive.. We have been regular visitors for a number of years and the fact that our booking had not been noted was a major concern. I will ask for a telephone confirmation next time.

Visited Porterhouse again on Saturday and as always had the best steak so tasty and perfectly cooked. Staff very friendly and attentive. This restaurant is a must for steak lovers

Birthday meal out with my sons who left me to choose the restaurant. After loads of reading to find a first class steak we ended up at Porterhouse. We were absolutely delighted with the quality and presentation of the steaks. Our first visit but certainly won’t be our last.

From stepping through the door, the service was great. A very friendly and warm welcome. We were a party of 10 in for a birthday party and we couldn’t have had a better experience. A few of the part had been before, but was a first for myself and family and will definitely be back. The menu selection I would say was just perfect. Plenty choice without having too much of a selection. The pork cheek & black pudding starter was superb and the tomahawk signature steak was just brilliant. Service was always on point and very helpful and friendly, especially with our youngest who is 6. Will definitely return for another experience. Thanks.

Me and my boyfriend came to porterhouse for Valentine’s Day, it was absolutely fantastic! Best steak we’ve both had to date. I Highly recommend to anyone who’s around the area! The staff were so friendly and accommodating and the meal was amazing. Will definitely be returning soon.

The best Sunday roast for our family as always. Never tried something else but Im sure they would also be great as well.

Went for a meal for the first time with my wife. Service was great and the tomahawk steaks were amazing. The restaurant itself if nicely done too. Will definitely be back.

Had the best rib-eye steak I have ever had. My daughter felt the same about her T-bone. I also felt the same about the sirloin I had a couple of weeks ago. The service was excellent - and also relaxed. It was busy (Thursday night) and so there was a really good atmosphere in what is a very nice restaurant. Going to be a regular choice for us.

Wonderful Sunday Lunch . Great carvery but with other items on the menu. Good range of starters and puddings. Not expensive. Good value for money. Staff were an absolute delight. Helpful and friendly but not intrusive. We will be back.

We came in on Saturday night and I thought wow that’s quite expensive for a steak! That was until I saw my absolute chunk of meat that was placed in front of me! I had the fillet and there was actually 2 massive pieces of perfectly cooked fillet steak along with rustic chips and veg. My partner had the T bone and I honestly thought we’d both go into some kind of meat coma! We finished out meal with a coffee and lovely home made tablet on the side. The waiting staff were brilliant and the atmosphere is lovely! I will be back for more some time hopefully very soon!

Porterhouse is the term used to describe the most finest cuts of steak...and the Porterhouse Steakhouse absolutely lives up to the finest of restaurants.

Food was very nice, steaks cooked to liking and flavour full. Only comment I have is that during the service you could clearly see the staff struggling with the volume of people. There were 2 waiting staff and 2 managers on. One manager and the staff were doing the floor and bar by the looks of things, even tho the bigger lady manager was on the bar the staff still had to go make their own drinks, (drink service could improve if she helped)

Went here for a cosy lunch to meet a new friend and it was perfect. Lovely seat by the window, really warm and friendly staff and the food was excellent. We thought we would overstay our welcome as we chatted for hours, but the team didn't mind at all and made us feel most welcome.

Went there last night with friends for a meal to celebrate my 60th birthday. Everybody who was there thoroughly enjoyed the food. The steaks were first class and the food was well presented and served by friendly staff.

This restaurant is built into the Thainstone Agricultural Centre with access via a separate door. Its nothing like its surroundings which is a good thing. The inside is modern with a seated waiting where you can have a coffee or drink as you wait for a table. The prices are a tad on the steep side however they are serving some of the regions finest steaks so that said the price is probably just about right. I never got the chance to try the menu for size pity.

Stopped to meet a colleague for lunch, prompt & polite staff, good menu choices. Excellent food, prompt service, great value . value for money.

This was my 4th visit and will be my last !!! Soup was mediocre, Turkey was cold, had to wait ages for cheese board, cheese lovely but 2 small oatcakes meant you ate the cheese on its own or leave it!!! Service was awful, had to ask for at least one persons course a number of times until we were all served. This happened with each course. We grudgingly got our tea and coffee but had to ask for sugar & milk!!! And no top up of tea and coffee was offered. And the mince pies never appeared at all. Need I say more, very disappointing.

Had a family lunch at this restaurant. A nicely cooked fish and chips for my daughter and I and Xmas lunch for my wife. Service was interesting. Prices for food and drink were at a reasonable level. A good alternative to our preferred restaurant which is closed on Mondays.

Went with 7 other colleagues for a Christmas lunch. Food was excellent as was the service and surroundings. Staff were really lovely and one of our party won a golden ticket to their Hogmanay dinner and party - for four people. Would highly recommend the Porterhouse and will definitely return.

We stopped here on the way back from attending a Michael Buble concert in Aberdeen the night before. After asking about gluten-free options our waitress confirmed with the kitchen what could or couldn’t be done. I had a lovely gluten-free crumb coated haddock and chips - fried in oil which had been used with gluten containing items. My sensitivity isn’t so high that I wouldn’t eat this, but it was good that the waitress knew to mention this and leave the choice to me. My wife, not gluten-free, had the burger with the black bun!

What a great meal and fab service made our Christmas lunch a real treat! Food was delicious and would highly recommend a visit!

Visited as a party of 8 with my family. Absolutely excellent Sunday carvery and priced at £21.95 for 3 courses. Staff all very friendly and manager absolutely great. Such efficient and friendly service. All food was enjoyed by the party - the pork belly starter was lovely and the carvery outstanding. Dad opted for the mulled wine pan Scott’s with Christmas pudding ice cream which he thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend and will definitely return the next time in Inverurie.

Popped in here whilst waiting a car repair at Diack Autos just up the road. The bacon rolls are lovely! Generously filled and nice fresh bread.

Came here last Saturday evening with my parents (who have been before) and also my boyfriend who hasnt been before. From the minute we arrived the service was 1st class and lovely polite staff. We asked if there was any chance doing a happy anniversary plate for my parents, this was no problem and was presented along with 4 small soup tasters and 4 mozzarella and tomato bites. We ordered 2 rump steaks and 2 fillet steaks, onion rings, sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake and Eton mess..... all food was amazing and lovely taste to each dish! Fantastic and will definitely return. Thanks again to Jon (chef) and the lovely staff out front for a lovely evening. Thanks xx

Our second visit here,this time with family to celebrate our anniversary.Once again an excellent meal and table service.Wouldnt think about going anywhere else for a steak as they are wonderful.Thank you also for my golden ticket which was a nice gesture and will go toward my next meal

Took my wife there for a meal last week. Top end in terms of service, menu and food. I had the steak starter while my mrs had the parfait. I had ribeye and she had rump which she has recently taken to. Bottle of wine and the bill came to just over £100. My wife was given an envelope as part of a promotion. She will get a bottle of Prosecco at our next visit!

Had lunch with a steak salad for myself and a sirloin for my friend. Good on both counts with my salad being good in construction and tasted fantastic with various sauces available. Well coked to medium rare and the Sirloin steak was praise for being cooked to what had been ordered and very tasty. we were therefor two hrs as it was an old friend and had coffee to finish. Excellent !!

Always look forward to a visit here . My wife had a juicy piece of fillet fine medium and I had the juicy medium sirloin . Excellent food and service. After a few drinks in the lounge area it can end up being an expensive night but we always think it’s worth it . Only gripe is the wooden platters ..... again .

My friend has raved about this restaurant and it did not disappoint last night. I am a bit picky about how my steak is cooked. I am in a minority,, I like my steak “cooked”, not pink and red and defo no blood. Explained to waitress this. Steak arrived and was perfectly cooked to my liking.

Fantastic meal had here recently. Brilliant tattie & beef soup starter followed by chateaubriand to share. Cooked to perfect medium rare as ordered. Raspberry and chocolate soufle was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. The perfect meal. Thought Miller & Carter was good but this was better!

My son & I visited the Restaurant on 26th Sept - the meal was excellent - young lady server was extremely polite & helpful - we will definitely return

We feasted on a Tomahawk steak and a burger, both were excellent and my steak was cooked to perfection. The caramelization on the meat enhanced the flavour and our appetites were well satisfied. We shared a soufflé and it too was excellent. Cara served us and was a delight.

Came here tonight for a meal.What can i say but the best ever.Steaks were perfection and sea bass delightful.Jon the chef gave us lovely samples of soups to taste and they were wonderful.Jodi our waitress was very helpful and pleasant at our table and made our visit enjoyable.

My wife and I had a Sunday Carvery, enjoyed the meal immensely. The staff were very helpful, friendly and polite. For some reason my wife's fresh orange turned out to be a vodka and orange but this was soon rectified with no difficulty. We all had a few jokes and a good laugh over this. All goes to show that anyone can make a mistake but it’s how you deal with it that counts. Well done folks we will certainly come back again.

With less than a week to go and having dropped child off with grandparents we had a night off for a meal. The food was absolutely amazing - steak done to perfection - I had a 10oz rare t bone with blue cheese sauce and the wife had a burger with all the trimmings. Followed up with pudding of sticky toffee pudding and a lemon posset. Staff are lovely (Jodi?) and quick.

We really enjoyed our rare opportunity to have a evening out to celebrate my partners birthday. Food was fantastic and service was great we where severed by Jodi who was very polite and friendly. It was very busy so would have expected slow service so where pleasantly surprised that it was so quick.

Porterhouse is located behind the Thainstone Mart so is easily accessible with plenty of parking.

We visited for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed by the food. The carvery was fresh and an excellent choice of meat and sides. I would deduct a point for the service as we were shown to our table with no menus and had to ask for them a while later after our drinks arrived. The waitress assumed we were having carvery but we wanted to look at any starters and also the children’s menu. Will be back for an evening meal in the future.

I had an amazing experience. The service was great and the food was outstanding! I have a certain order every time I go there and they always get it perfect. The staff were really nice and friendly and overall I had a fun night!

We had a fantastic evening at Porterhouse celebrating my husband’s birthday. The waiting staff were attentive and went out of their way to ensure that we had a great time. Our waiter, Michael, was particularly pleasant and made sure that we were well looked after throughout the evening. Needless to say the steaks were amazing!

Went here for Sunday lunch and in one word BRiLLIANT. We were unsure about it but having now eaten here we would return without hesitation.

The Porterhouse is a must go to destination for top quality, local food, friendly service and a great atmosphere. Visited to celebrate a family birthday and we had an amazing meal.

Being a regular customer today I had a lunch with some friends, received the best service possible from the staff. The food was delicious but the noise of the power saw and sanding machine was unacceptable. Surly it could have waited a few more hours until serving hours were over.

Visited porterhouse today for my granddaughters birthday meal, service from both members of staff on (Michael and Sophie) was outstanding, and the food was excellent. However, there were joiners in fixing the wooden floor and the noise they were making with the electric saws and sanders was unbelievable. We couldn’t hear each other speak, both Michael and Sophie were very apologetic and tried to accommodate us to the best of their ability, however I felt very bad for them as there was nothing they could do. Poor decision and planning from management, allowing this to happen during service hours - especially when the restaurant closes at 3pm... Not to mention the health risk with all the fumes.

Food absolutely spit on. Can believe this was my first time visiting. Staff so professional will definitely be back!
