Ive been going to the Popular for about 12 years and its as good as its ever been - a true local spot with a diverse set of characters and truly lovely staff. Not to mention the lovely food on offer, for an affordable price too!!

Easily best greasy spoon (cafe) in London. Fry up's are proper tasty and quality ingredients. The chips are hand cut using Cypriot potatoes best bar none.

Very good breakfast, I was passing through. I really enjoyed starting again as soon as possible, the homemade fries were exceptional. The staff is very appreciable especially ILLY thank you again for this typical English lunch

Friendly staff and warm and quiet atmosphere, no music playing, which makes a change, just the sound of coffee machine and people chatting, Food service was fast and delicious. Not too pricy also. Highly recommended.

This is a quality local cafe. I go for breakfast and it is consistently good. Perfectly cooked eggs and bacon. No grease. Very friendly staff. Do watch out for the coffee...hot, hot, hot. 👍😋

I have, mostly, my english breakfast there for over 25 years! Cafe is family run and they do remember most of their customers. Take me, he knows I like my toast, white & lightly toasted, eggs sunny side up, tea is light etc. Better still is that you don't see a layer of oil in the plate when all the food is fried, except the bake beans. 🤣. Is it worth the money? Personally, it is a YES! Oh, they do more than just breakfast. Bon appetit when you decide to visit! Just don't be one of those customers who are very 'picky' over very small things. Place is clean as are the tables and seats. Oh, I do at times bring my dirty plate and cup when I go to pay, not at busy times as I will be a hindrance!.

I always go here for my full English breakfast, its a friendly family fun cafe, as soon as you walk in the door you are greeted in a friendly manner. The staff are friendly, the full English is great, always very tasty and would highly recommend this place.

Great place for a bacon and egg butty!

Randomly popped in to this cute little cafe today and It was a lovely experience. They didn't even mention that they were about to close and served me in the most warm and professional way. I love finding these local gems and will definetly revisit. The food, prices and hygiene of the place is spot on too! 👌👌👌

Just wasn't for me alot of people like it but the bubble and squeak was just fried mash potatoes no other veg at all and the black pudding was paper thin, bacon burnt and hard and thin. Prices are fair but quality was a let down.

I’ve been a local my whole life and can say with confidence this is the best cafe around! Great pricing and great people.

We tried the mix grill, a generous portion of sausage, egg, steak and lots of liver. Great for fans of liver and a bane to those who dislike the strong taste.

cheap and my breakfast was ok. so all in all it was good. They do cheese on toast in the mw so they were not as good. They don't have alternative milks. My eggs, beans, mushrooms and bubble were nice and only paid £5 for it. So yes I would probably be back for a quick English breakfast.

Never been to this area before. Needed lunch, first place we saw. Great cafe. Food was excellent and portion generous, surroundings comfortable and the staff nice and friendly.

There is no Sunday without breakfast in this little cafe. Loveliest people r behind the counter, very friendly and attentive. You can have your breakfast in or have a take away. Massive breakfast baguettes for under 4£ with bacon sausage egg hash mushrooms or whatever else u want to throw in there. Would definitely recommend.

This place is usually busy and for good reason - their food is great. I particularly like their bacon sandwiches but ask for the bloomer loaf bread. The service is efficient but friendly. Prepare to meet people from all walks of life from tradesmen to the great and the good from the council offices opposite. Recommended.

Usually meet friends here for a bacon sarnie and hot drink. Staff are very welcoming. Also enjoy their Full English, and the liver with veggies Good quality food. Can get quite noisy at busy times, as the accoustics are weird. Still enjoy eating here though: by far the best cafe in Whetstone. Eaten here for many many years

Have had many breakfasts in this Cafe whether its to cure a hangover to start the day off on a full belly. The owner is always extremely welcoming and friendly and the food is always well presented and tastes good.

I've been comign here for breakfast with my kids on and off for about two years and it's always good - friendly staff, good value for money, nothing is ever too much trouble. The place is always clean and I never have to wait long although it's always fine with them if I want to linger over my tea in the mornings.

The owner is a very nice Italian gentleman. We were with a large group and we ventured out from our hotel each morning to walk across the street and order a cappuccino or espresso from him. He made great coffee and was very warm to us, speaking both Italian and English all mixed. After a few days, we had half his life story. This is what makes travelling special.

Called in this morning for a Full English. You would think cooking an English Breakfast would be as simple as making a good cup of tea, however a lot of places I have visited know how to screw it up. On the othe hand, The Popular Cafe hit the nail right in the head. We arrived about 10 am. There were only a couple of people in. The place is very clean and nicely presented. We were served immediately. Our to mugs of tea, no fancy, overpriced teapot, arrived promptly. The toast we ordered was proper cut bread, not cheap ready sliced. The breakfast consisted of 2 rashers of bacon ( which tasted like bacon) sausage, tomatoes and beans with a real fried egg, not a plastic one. It tasted great and was hot. Being a tight fussy Yorkshireman, I do not normally tip or make public my opinions.........but credit where it's due......thanks guys!

Went in today for breakfast, day two for me and as I walked in the door the lady called out the usual! I slighty change the set breakfast trading the sausage for an extra egg. Think they will be seeing more of me.

It is good place for family breakfast. Good quality food with nice coffee as well! The food is nice and at good price. It is a place where you can try old traditional breakfast and it is worth every penny. Surely vcoming back on the next visit to london!

As well as the usual high quality traditional fry up, they do an excellent poached eggs. Coupled with the friendly welcome, it's a great place for an old school brunch, or a bacon nutty on the way to work.

We popped in here after staying locally for a gig. We were pleasently surprised by the value and quality of our breakfasts. A traditional feel of a cafe but definitly not a greasy spoon!
