Good value, good food, nice, polite staff and a living legend owner! 5mins walk from the town centre, definitely worth to try!

I didn't want much. Just a sausage, some beans, 2 bits of toast, and 2 slices of bacon. The sign on the door says serving Powter's sausages (IMO the best sausage in the world) but don't let this sway you, they managed to make a really nice sausage look disgusting! For £5.75 you get virtually nothing (that's the cost of the above), and the toast is NOT toasted. I was given 2 warmed up slices of bread with the thickest amount of butter I've ever seen. I took one look at it all, put it back on the counter and walked out. Didn't even bother to ask for a refund I was so disgusted. The place is a joke and I would advise others to carry on into Newmarket centre where you'll find better. Don't make the detour to Popes. They don't ask if you want milk in your tea, they assume you do and then put too much in making you have to ask for another. The 1980's style plastic tablecloths were also dirty.

Had a yummy veggie breakfast and some good friendly banter with the staff and other customers. You are always greeted with a smile. The prices are very reasonable too. Pope's Cafe has a five star rating for hygiene and deservedly so.

I thoroughly reccomend this place to eat or even just pop in for a cuppa. It is very clean (5 stars from the environmental health inspectors). The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The prices are very reasonable also.

Called in there late on the way back to our lodge, after being at the Sub-tropical Paradise, for a hot drink. Good service at the bar and we decided to drink them whilst watching a bit of the 2nd half of Liverpool v Bologna. We elected not to have the squirty cream topping.

Food was delicious, thoroughly enjoyed it, haven’t visited since Covid, ignore the website as it states they are only doing take aways, they are very much open as a restaurant. I can’t believe we’ve left it so long to go back! We will def visit again. Such good value for money to! Thank you…..

My wife and I sometimes come here for lunch on Sunday or occasionally stop for dinner. The buffets (both cavery & chinese) offer a good selection and are well stocked. One of out favourite local eateries.
