Poonthai's in East Lothian

Very nice and tasty veggie Thai food. No vegetarian options on the menu but when spoke to our host they said every dish could be made veggie: very accommodating. Nice service, nice food, nice takeaway.

Enjoyed a beef curry late on a wednesday evening, in their garden area. Good food and atmosphere, good prices also. Would happily go again and bring friends

The food was ok, not great. We had to vait for a very long time before we got to order, and had to leave the table to ask someone to pay before we left. We got seated outside in the garden on a chilly and rainy evening. It was warm and cozy at frist, then all the heating lamps in the celing shut down and never got turned on again. Never going back.

We sat in the garden on a beautiful evening and it was so peaceful and relaxing. The service was really friendly and I'm still dreaming about the wonderful flavours of our meal! Can't wait to go back.

Just plain rude. We had been going to this restaurant for years and we knew the family well. Then it changed hands and to be polite, went downhill at super-speed. Recently we got told it’s starting to improve. We were so excited to get a takeaway, to be told they don’t deliver, because it’s not worth their while. However if it’s a big order they would consider it…I can imagine how many customers old and new they have lost due to “it’s not worth our time”. Most people would willingly pay 3 or 4 quid to get a really decent takeaway, but after hearing “it’s not worth our time”. It seems you are not worth the customers time with that attitude….

We had takeout for dinner. It was not good Thai food, it was poor Thai food

We went on a Sunday evening at the end of April, so weren't massively surprised to find the restaurant empty when we arrived and that it remained empty until a few minutes before we left. The food was really nice and not expensive, although the Singha beer was a bit pricey at £4.15 for a 330ml bottle. Just one gripe - there is a sign on the door that says "American Express cards welcome" and our bill was presented in a bill wallet with the American Express logo on it, but guess what? They don't take American Express cards! If you don't take the card, don't advertise (twice) that you do!

Really friendly place with tasty Thai dishes and quite a big menu to choose from. Chilly Saturday night in April so can’t comment on the garden out back - but hear that is lovely on a nice day. Would happily eat here again.

Would highly recommend Poonthai’s. I visited last night for the first time in a number of years and was very impressed with the whole experience. Everything was so fresh, light and super tasty. The service was fast and friendly. Very reasonably priced too. We had the starter sharing platter, pard see ew,pard thai and massa man nua.

Just not doing it for me. Not authentic food at all. Staff are friendly though.

my friends and family enjoyed it but the race was horrible,i asked for egg friend rice and soya sauce but there was no soya sauce,had to ask for it separate.

The takeaway from Poonthai in North Berwick was undoubtedly the worst Thai food I have ever had. It was bland, cold and had no hint of Thailand cuisine. I didn’t even eat more than a mouthful. My wife was more brave than me and stopped after two spoons full. I don’t even think it was worth one star. The restaurant was completely empty. Now I know why. I will never eat from there again. I don’t believe the five star ratings.

Poor food tastes okay soup has tiny king prawns severed in tiny cardboard tub barely fills bowl halve way . The rice small amount on small container then main course filled up one third shreds of chicken not the best had Thai many times . Overpriced for what you get also not even crackers with the order !

Came to eat here for the first time with my family, 4 adults and 2 small children, as we are Thai. Therefore, I would like Thai people to come and provide services in order to communicate in Thai. But received poor service And very bad A Thai employee came to take the order with a grim expression. It's like they don't want to serve Thai people. The taste of the food is enough to eat. But it's not the taste of real Thai food. Extremely disappointed and the price is quite expensive

The food was terrible and the platter was overpriced. The rice dishes was like uncle Ben's and tomato sauce and it wasn't really Thai. The chicken made me sick and vomit. Don't come here.

I used to come to Poonthai a few times a week for a quick and easy lunch. The staff were friendly and welcoming and always put a smile on my face.

Very tidy place with lovely staff. More than helpful with gluten free options and assistance with items for a toddler. Tasty food would certainly reccomnd and I'd happily return next time I'm in the area ☺️ thank you all

Overall disgusting. Human hair found in the soup, spoke to them, she said bring it back and we give you 50% refund. Basically accepting there disgusting process. Also no chicken in the soup, and Mice droppings all over kitchen. Environmental health dept required to solve this issue with filthy restaurants and takeaways.

We always visit this restaurant when we visit North Berwick and we have never been disappointed. Great food and friendly staff.

The food is absolutely delicious and authentic. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. I especially love the outdoor seating area which is a little taste of Thailand in North Berwick.

Nice lunch - fish and chips but salmon instead of haddock or cod - unusual but very friendly staff and you can park outside for 90 mins (if you can find a space!)

We had six starters between us instead of mains and then banana fritters in the Poontai restaurant tonight in North Berwick. We chose to dine in the back room to get the real Thai experience and were surrounded by Buddhist artefacts, buddahs and lovely plants.

Food very nice. There's a garden area open in the summer but in the winter months one is limited to the main dining room which rather lacks ambience.

Very average food was not overwhelmed by flavour. The staff were very friendly and they do have a lovely garden out that back that you would need to book I'm advance to secure a table. The food was not hugely flavoursome and lacked the real zing of other Thai places I've had. It was cheap and cheerful food but don't expect a life changing experience.

The most amazing little garden out the back which is great in the summer. It's sheltered which means no wind. Food is good too. All you can eat buffet on a Sunday is ok.

Amazing and authentic Thai food. Didn't feel like I was outside Thailand. Quaint decor and warm staff made it an enjoyable experience. A must visit for those who love thai or spicy Asian food.
