Everytime I order from this place my food is late. Its unacceptable. Especially when I order my food at 7 and only get it after 9 at night. Ridiculous.

Yo, so I was waiting for my delivery, right? And guess what? They were late by a whole hour! I tried calling them, and they gave me some lame excuse about car issues. But I'm not buying it. I checked their reviews, and it seems like they've always had problems with delivery times. Not cool, man. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Chips were anemic and cold , definitely not salt and pepper chips . Chicken was tough as old boots and cold . Curry sauce was like jelly, had to water it down and reheat it and delivery was later than stated . Just all generally sub standard. Even the dog turned her nose away and she will eat anything. 0/10 , will never use again , £30 in the bin 😔

Seen the reviews but must say this was a lovely Chinese meal. Lovely mixed chop suey and gorgeous cha siu in sauce. Will definitely be there again.

I would give it no stars if I could I was shocked at how disgusting the food was from here it used to be one of the best in guisborough the food is expensive, tastes absolutely disgusting the noodles are dry and bland the egg fried rice tasteless other then a hint of perfume the batter is that soggy it came off the chicken that's if it is chicken a piece of white rubber supposed to be chicken the gravy is black and tasteless and that thick.it does not pour you slice it ,I will honestly not use this place ever again and I recommend anyone else not to use it as you will be so disappointed and it's a lot of money to waste on food that's not editable

Got a expensive delivery last night the curry didn't even taste like curry and was inedible. The ribs were burnt and chewy and the won tons were over cooked won't be returning ever .

Ordered tonight , curry does not taste like curry at all not sure what the taste is, and it's not nice and the won tons are pretty much none existent or edible , ribs were burnt and chewy .

Food took 1.5 hours to arrive when we live in guisborough and it’s a Wednesday night. when we phoned to ask where our food was a really rude and quite unhelpful girl answered the phone and when our food arrived it was stale and stone cold so we phoned again and was asked “ well what do you want us to do” we have requested a refund for the food and the service was absolutly terrible. Do not order from here

Was a little worried after reading the reviews, food was a tad late but the taste was perfect no missing items. It's a good standard chinese place.

Waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for it to be delivered, just to get a notification saying my order has been cancelled! When I rang in the guy was just rude!

Food is always good. Cash only though so be prepared.

Ordered a takeaway - 20 mins late, called to check where it was, was told on its way should be with us in 10 mins. 15 mins later called again - was told he was on the phone to the driver. Then he called us back to tell us they’d delivered our order to a wrong address, they were trying to get it back but no response from the address. Told them to forget it and cancelled the order. Not the first time we’ve had problems with them delivering on time - never again, atrocious service ….

Ordered food at 7 ish food came 10 mins after expected delivery time which is okay I understand that sometimes things can get hectic orders can back up but then realised that some of my order was missing and so rang up straight away and asked if it could be sent to me the girl on the phone apologised and told me it would be with me soon and hour goes by and I ring back up the girls laughing ( she’s with her friend so isn’t checking the orders before they go out ) and I’m told that the order was definitely sent out saying it should be there and I said it wasn’t acting as if I was lying then I got in touch with Foodhub support asking for just a refund and then had to ring them up myself and tell the take away to give me a refund witch they continuously say they can’t refund a single item ( which by the way if you can’t you get in touch with food hub saying it needs to be done) then they finally send the missing food out ( 2 hours and half late ) meaning they didn’t actually send it out and they were just lying the entire time. In the end it was food hub that issued my refund after I refused the food at my door even after saying multiple times I did not want it after waiting so long. However the delivery drivers are amazing people always working hard but unfortunately I won’t be ordering off this horrendous business mainly because of the manners and attitude of the girl on the phone she should be fired.

We ordered hot and sour soup, prawn toast, salt and pepper squid.Mixed chow mein and a duck dish. Absolutely outstanding.

Awful food... Fought for a refund which I got eventually. My thanks though to counter staff LILY AND DAVIE for their help and understanding on several phones calls. Guys you are awesome.. THANKYOU I just wish the food was. 😥

Shockingly bad. Probably the worst take away meal Ive had. Ordered the crispy beef in Kung Po sauce and recieved something akin to tough chewy boot laces. Inedible bar the fried rice which was just about OK. Never ever again.

This place is literally the definition of ces pit. Their food hygiene is appalling and there has been numerous reports of rats in the kitchen. Their timing is ridiculous and talking to the owner about an issue you have with an order is like talking to a brick wall. Horrible place. Do not order from here unless you have a death wish

Really disappointed, long wait, 45 mins passed the advised delivery time. Food cold, not sure how you can go wrong with a Chow Mein. Phoned to ask if the order had left and could they contact driver to request approx delivery time. Advised by assistant too busy, not good service and not good food. I would not recommend.

Avoid at all cost we ordered a meal at 18.00 yesterday when it finally arrived at 19.20 part of the order was missing I phoned to explain what was missing they said they would sort it and send it out to us at 20.45 we phoned again he said it would be with us soon we phoned a 3rd time at 21.25 he said it would be here in 15 minutes at 21.50 we phoned AGAIN he said it should be there any min. At 22.10 we phoned he said sorry it left the restaurant at 21.00 and they is nothing he could do we paid online he refused to give us a refund or even part refund for the missing items. Myself and my 9yr old daughter was waiting 4plus hours for a meal which didn’t turn up she was starving and upset I recommend not using this take away they don’t care about customers

Terrible service ordered a meal at 6pm 7.30 food arrived with a few things missing when I phoned the restaurant the guy said he will get the missing items sent out. At 9.30pm we phoned again asking for the food he said it will be 15mins 10.00pm we phoned again he said it was sent out a hour ago and there is nothing we can do 10.30pm food still not arrived I have a 9 yr old who was starving.We asked for a full refund he said no sorry as far as he is concerned the food had left the restaurant so we are not entitled to a refund AVOID at all. I wouldn’t even give the 1 star but I had to to share the review

Waited 2 hours. Everytime I rang up to see whereabouts the food was they kept saying it was on its way. I had 3 children to feed. Got to 8pm and had to cancel the order, so I could sort something else out. If they had said it was 2 hours wait we could have tried elsewhere. Our order was over £35 so I expect better customer service. Try another Takeaway.

why is a professional outfit like just eat sullying their name with these clowns? not a clue on capacity, not a clue on time scale and not a care whether they ruin your evening..... holiday makers and visitors to the region do not fund these jokers......

Waited almost 3 hours to have to sit through 20 minutes of the food hub live chat service just to finally see that the order would be an extra 20 minutes, shocking service, I'd expect that somewhere that says they deliver within an hour to actually deliver within an hour, not 3, writing this while i still haven't received the food, so still have no idea of how long it will actually take to get here, likely won't order from again.

Ordered beansprout noodles... Got a pot full of beansprouts, front of house staff took about 10 minutes to deal with us... Had to cook noodles to go with my Beansprout noodles at home :(

Nearly 3 hours late with food using just eat.

Havnt used for awhile due to a couple of disappointing orders but thought we'd give another try. Collection order ready promptly and all was delicious and piping hot. Keep it up!

Ordered 3 meals which is all you get, no rice or crackers and the food was cold we had to warm it up

Ordered a good £28 worth of food to which it turned up luke warm the chowmein was dry the chips where soggy sea weed was like rubber curry was like custard thick and lumpy wouldn't waste my money

Great service, nice large portions. Best of all, their premises are completely Covid-19 compliant, so it's easy to get served as a walk-in customer. Their meals are always well cooked and properly packaged.

3 out of our last 4 orders had a 1 hour delivery time. Both of those times got updated as "delayed", 5 minutes before the delivery was expected. The delay was a half an hour delay and still took a further 40 minutes. The food is nice and well priced, they just need to sort their delivery scheduling out. There's nothing worse than finishing work and having to wait nearly 2 hours for food. Save yourself the hassle and order from one of the many many other Chinese takeaways in the area.

Very late after paying £4.50 delivery wont use again, did have a good reputation not sure when it went downhill.

I have ordered several times from Poon Kee never had a problem before but tonight not only was it over 2 hours late I phoned twice when the food did arrive it was cold and discusting I am sure they had dropped the salt pot in to it. It is not the customers problem if they have delivery driver issues you can guarantee I will never order from them again

Ordered a delivery for a meal with family. An hour later they said it would be am extra 20 minutes, 20 minutes later they said it would be ANOTHER 20 minutes, 20 minutes later after asking how how it would be they said the order is still in the kitchen so it would be atleast 30 minutes!! Disgraceful customer service....still haven't received a refund.

Ordered the munch box and it looked like a load of left overs thrown in a box, there was no sweet and sour chicken, just a pot of curry source, the chips were just plain ordinary chips and the spring rolls were hard with no filling, worst Chinese I'v ever had, never again.

Absolutely awful. Ordered at 7pm, got to 11pm and it still hadn’t turned up and it had closed so we never got our food and were £20 down on New Year’s Eve. Going to try and get our money back tomorrow but no doubt we won’t.

We have just arrived today at Roseberry View Retreat & we decided to have a takeaway by the time we had unpacked! Poon Kee your food was delicious! We love Special Curry, Fried Rice with Singapore Chow Mein & at home we always order extra hot & it was exactly that! The meat was lovely, it was all delicious! My daughter & family ordered a Munchie Box which fed 4 of them!! We were all well pleased with our meal tonight & it was delivered right to the door!! Thank you, it was a great start to our holiday!

First time ordering, what arrived didn’t look right, opened the chips to what I could only describe as cardboard cold sticks and some how moist to touch, second I opened the salt and pepper chicken to my amazement I could count the Chicken pieces in one glance for the size of the box I would say it was half full, what was remaining was totally over cooked and very dry to the point I decided not to eat, last but not least I opened the special house chow main, total mush with unrecognisable meat looked the worse cuts possible with only one prawn for the whole dish. I rang and complained, lady on the phone was understanding and offered a full refund which I will go and collect and stay well clear. Stay well clear of this place

Terrible takeaway, waited over 90 minutes for delivery and the food tasted awful. The chips tasted like they had been done hours ago as rubbery and the meat in the curry tasted awful. Never ordering from here again

If you want to place an order for a take away delivery, order hours ahead of time!!!! They are so unreliable for delivering on time. This has happened on more than three occasions now. Think it’s time to look elsewhere!!!!

Tasty food, however few times the order of food has been wrong and other Chinese takeaways in the area give free spring rolls and prawns crackers with meals over £20 .. depending on whatever sometimes we have sometimes we haven't.

Ordered food a couple of time sometimes they get it right sometimes they don't. Other Chinese takeaways after ordering over £25 give free prawn crackers and spring rolls .. depending how poon kee as it feel you might get them with your meal. Bit tight when they don't. Won't be going there again ... I doubt they'd care haha

I have ordered twice via Just Eat. The first time I had to cancel delivery due to it being over an hour over the estimated delivery time. The second time delivery was going to take 90 minutes. At the estimated delivery time I got a text saying they had cancelled my delivery. I will never use this takeaway again.

I’ve had 2 takeaways from here now (gave it the benefit of the doubt so tried a second time) but the second time was as worse as the first. Dry eggy rice, salt and pepper chicken also dry and salt less. Salt and pepper chips had 0 salt or pepper on them never mind onions or peppers to add to the flavour. All around appalling really. Would not recommend to anyone. When I ask for SALT AND PEPPER Chinese I want a culturally respectable Chinese that represents their flavours, not tasteless chicken. Thanks but no thanks

Best Chinese in guisborough for us

Normally a lovely meal but tonight the chicken was, boiled and had the texture of jelly, chips under cooked but the Thai curry was amazing... I unfortunately could not eat mine, and ended, up, with a cheese sandwich

I have order from these for the first time today and I have been waiting over 2 hours for my order. Absolutely not going to these again.

Ordered last night at 5pm, as they were opening, was given an estimated time between 30-45 minutes. 70 minutes later I called to ask where it was, for the young sounding male on the phone to tell me “the driver is taking his time”. When I challenged him and stated he told me between 30-45 he paused, laughed awkwardly and said, “yeah”. Customer service was shocking, never experienced anything like it, he couldn’t of cared less. Food eventually came an hour and a half later and was good but such a shame that it was spoilt by TERRIBLE customer service

Poon kee was our regular for years until a order is done wrong you take it back and they won’t correct the order and refuse to give you the money back! Very poor customer service I seriously would not recommend this place. My Partner kindly asked them to correct our order as we did not order the food they gave us and do not like the food they gave us. The person on the till refused so my partner asked for our money back and she also refused , even though the owner told her to give him the money back. Then told him not to come back. Not that anyone would want to after the poor customer service!!!

Ordered through food hub, order was late after being told three times they hadn't received an order. Food refused on delivery as it was for residents in a care home who had to be given an alternative tea. Very poor customer service no apology or refund very disappointing

Ordered via Just Eat, deliveries are always late by at least 30 minutes; food is extremely disappointing. Never ever order the chicken, because they don't use proper chicken breast meat they use reconstituted scrap chicken. So sad that the only decent Chinese takeaway, Hope Well, has closed down permanently. Do not waste your time with Poon Kee.

Only any good if you go into the shop. We have used just eat twice. COMPLAINT was offered a free meal due to order been messed up, now not accepting free meal due to worker not writing the information down and now customer been let down. Poor customer service. Needs to be sorted.

The order was missing the curry sauce but after phoning them decided to do without. Next issue was chips and beendprouts were cold. Phoned to complain and was asked to take everything back. I don't want to go out again tonight (21:00) will keep food and take I it back in next I am passing. Very dissapointed

Terrible service, woman who took my order laughed through the entirety of my order. One i picked my order up i got the wrong food and the food was cold. Wont be coming back.

Not a rating of the food or the cleanliness as I've never had an issue. This rating is purely based on the poor experience I had as a member of staff for the last 2 years. Paid only £5 per hour (despite it being on the books), expected to work in the kitchen (with no training) as well as the counter then shouted at for taking too long answering the phone. Dropped in the dirt whilst the owner goes away and closes up with only 5 days notice without the wages being subsidised. The boss himself is a real good laugh but his greed takes over and he puts his profits before his staff. Would not recommend unless you want to like the pockets of a very greedy man. Over two years of working there, going in on days off to make phone calls and help settle disputes and never even had a thank you.

It says free prawn crackers on orders over £8 we ordered £20 and got none was informed because just eat charge 20% the owners will not give freebies with no orders ordered off there! Also we ordered food asking for no veg or onion in the meals when we opended.the meals onion n veg was in evrything they d also forgotten a portion noodles we d ordered we had to go to the shop to get the meals changed n collect noodles the chef/owner then played hell with the girl on the counter saying she needs to check all orders before giving the meals out?? Its not her fault the chef dosnt cook whats ordered as its plain enough for him to see in his own language on the chitty he recieves. Getting home with new food only to open the noodles absolutely full of raw onion would not recommend this place at all customer service absolutely rubbish

Past 2 times i've been here. The chicken has been under cooked and the chips were hard n some of Them under cooked and prawn crackers were disgusting.

Not sure if this place has changed hands but the food is spot on and better quality than it used to be. The special fried rice is nice, has massive prawns in it and tastes amazing. The English girl who takes the orders is pleasant and polite. Best Chinese in Guisborough in my opinion.

We love Poon Kee chinese takeaway Guisborough, tonight we ordered quater duck and vegetable spring rolls and my boyfriend had battered pork balls with sweet and sour sauce and noodles 🍜, Our order was delivered quickly than usually and it was very tasty and delicious 😋, fully enjoyed it. They are the best Chinese in area, lovely food and great service.
