Rang at five to seven to place order to collect. Told I was too late, no chips left. Website says they close at 7.30pm???? Think the exact words were, ' I'm wiping the tops down, just turned closed sign. I'm out'!!!

Me and friends got fish and chips from here and it didn't taste like fresh fish or cod at all everyone of us threw up literally multiple times so never been back again 🤮

Only 2nd time we have been but I must say their fish and chips are gorgeous I highly recommend this chippy. The ppl are so friendly as well. Everything is cooked to order so very fresh and very tasty. Great value for money as well. Try it you won't be disappointed.

Well what can we say , we stayed for 5 nights , just along the road and could not fault the fish and chips. Always fresh and very good portions. Staff were lovely and made a point of chatting. Would definitely recommend this chippy if passing by. Well done girls!

Popped in on my way back to Newcastle on Saturday, you had to wait a few minutes which is what I want - ie it's not been sitting there for ages! Food was really nice and the two ladies who ran it were really friendly, I'll be there again 👍

The fish and chips were ok but the fish didn't seem as fresh as it should be, it was slightly grey which usually comes from frozen rather than fresh but I could be wrong or just unlucky. I have eaten there before and they were much better that time.

I ordered standard fish and chips today, to be given a small fish when I said to the assistant I was told it was a standard it’s small but goes on weight. Well I know the difference and this was a very small fish . When I questioned the larger ones in the grill she still insisted it was standard. So much for customer service , I felt it was take it or leave it. In fact what I should have done was ask for my money back the whole experience was shocking, a long wait mixed orders no one seemed to know what they were doing. I get it it’s Easter but no excuse. Certainly won’t be returning. I have my own business and I would not dream of treating customers in that way

Fish Pattie wasnt cooked properly, the potatoe slices were rock hard and the batterr was slimy. Large chip portion was tiny

Had fish and chips for family tea time, usually very good, we use this fish shop regularly, but today 19/11/2022 bloody awful, the worst fish I've ever had, also full of bones

Recently been on holiday in the area and visited twice. Fish was lovely and flakey. 2nd time we had the meal deal for £18, which was a veritable feast for four. Staff were superb!

2nd July 1615. Chips mainly chewy, picked few out normal/edible. Fish(Large) just found in batter, had to scrape it to get fork full. Nice batter if wanting good £15 worth of batter. Being highest priced fish and chips in area so far they must feel the service a cut above. Had the chips been in heater good few hours ? Voting with feet/tyres and not returning.

Lovely fresh cooked to order fish and chips.

Visited twice to give the benefit of doubt but won't be going again. First time no salt and vinegar on despite asking and as it was take out we didn't have any with us and the bread had no butter on. 2nd visit and the batter was very thick and when you pressed your finger on it the amount of oil coming out was disgusting. The bread had a 10p size circle of butter in the middle. I'd rather you didn't bother at all at least they remembered the salt and vinegar this time even if I couldn't eat it.

Called in on a Thursday evening, had takeaway small cod and chips which were lovely. Had to wait less than ten minutes because it was busy which shows how popular it is. Service was good and friendly. They do a delivery service in guisborough I believe - not sure if there is a charge or not.

Suggest you change your advertised closing time of 8pm. Nothing left was the abrupt answer at 7.35 while 3-4 members of staff were laughing about some joke behind the counter. How long does it take to fry fish and chips btw? Less than 25 mins? Very poor customer service. If the closing time was 7.30 I wouldn’t have wasted my time visiting or visited earlier. Never again.

Always enjoyed the service and fish and chips as we try and buy locally. Two weeks ago we had fish and chips and we could not eat them . Dripping in fat and chips under cooked. I did telephone and complain to be told the manager would ring me back. No this did not happen.

They get a bit jumpy about social distancing, while their delivery lad stands around with no mask rubbing his nose. The fish 'n' chips are out of this world.

First time having been in to get the fish n chips (hubby usually goes) easy queuing system to keep socially distanced and reasonable waiting time as I was a walk in customer. As usual a perfect meal for our Friday evening

Lovely fish and chips, friendly staff, great menu. Prices are reasonable for the area.

Poor service during the COVID 19 outbreak. Big sign in window promises delivery. However, no delivery ever available, always too busy apparently. Huge queue outside the shop and customers left standing for hours whilst telephone orders are assembled. I’ve eaten here for years, but not impressed by the way the new owners are running the place. Sad to say I wouldn’t recommend on current performance.

To me this is the best Fish n Chip Shop in Guisborough. Lovely friendly service, near parking, good quality food. Go for the Fish n Chips and enjoy the historic Priory and Church... great days.

Visited after stopping in Guisborough and seeing the good reviews. Staff were very friendly even allowing me to bring the dog into the shop. After taking the food home parts of the order was wrong ( had a battered sausage asked for normal and got a small chips when ordered large) . The fish was really big and tasty very fresh however chips were abit bland and tasteless. Overall don't regret going but wouldn't rush back.

Top notch chippy grub. Same as chippys always have been (except the lack of newspapers). Can't fault it: food, service, banter - all there in the right portions - HUGE! Don't forget to shout your order in for fish / chicken etc, as soon as you walk in, so it is cooking while you wait in line, again, just like the old days. Popped in as we had been out all day and didn’t want to cook anything. We had 2 small cod and one standard cooked to order with chips and 2 large mushy peas and one small Chinese curry. The portions were generous chips and batter cooked to perfection. Definitely worth a visit

Called in for a take away on our way back from a day out at Whitby. We decided not get fish and chips from Whitby as the queues were enormous!! Wish we had though!! The fish and chips were extremely greasy and the batter on the fish “hard” at both ends!! The fish was tasty it has to be said. Some of the Chios were really well cooked and others slightly “hard”. One of the children ordered sausages which came battered!! Apparently you have to ask for a normal sausage as everything comes battered. The curry sauce was good but as we were tourists and only passing through it’s not somewhere we would be visiting again. On the main road with ample parking outside the shop. Friendly service. A bit of a let down as we’re looking forward to great fish and chips.

Just had the most delicious fried to order ... white cod with crispy batter, tasty hot chips and homemade mushy peas! The customer service was excellent too! The Priory Fish Shop is definitely worth a visit in Guisborough!

Popped in for fish, chips & curry sauce. Very friendly staff, quick service and fish was cooked to order. Tasted great and great curry sauce. Options of traditional chip shop or Chinese style curry sauce. Chip chop style was great. Definitely worth visiting here for food.

Fresh fish coated in a light, fluffy batter. No other place I've been to has done better, this includes Whitby, Tynemouth, Skegness and many more seaside towns renowned for their fish and chips! Hats off to you and your legendary Fish and Chips Mr J!

Used to use the chip shop regular but when they put there prices up I wouldn't dare pay Whitby prices for half the quality I actually cancelled my order and walked out it's cheaper to eat out than get food from there . Deffinatly lost a customer in me

Popped in on my way back to work after picking the car, very fast service for pipping hot good. Both the fish and chips tasted lovely, fish cooked in a very nice batter and well worth the money.

We have used this fish and chip shop several times now and never been dissapointed. We not from guisborough and have gone from home few times. Friendly staff always welcoming with a smile. Lovely service always try to help if what wanting not ready. If they is any waiting time always state so aware and food is always cooked to perfection. I would recommend to anyone love fish and chips would defo recomend the lunch time specials our family favourites are there homemde fish cakes and patties with a splash of gravy.

I had a lunch special from the choices on the board, small fish, small chips and a "splash", I chose chip shop curry! Absolutely spot on, hot, it was fried to order, tasty and so cheap it was not true!

A massive varied menu, large portions and very realistic prices, you may have to queue at busy times but it is well worth the wait.
