Liverton Mines Fisheries in Redcar and Cleveland

The fish was delicious, I would have preferred golden coloured chips but that's just me. It was very popular and plenty of people queuing.We will go again for definite.

Just finished our fish, chips and mushy peas. 😋😋 We are staying at Townend Farm campsite and after reading reviews for Liverton Mines fisheries we thought we would give it a try tonight. It didn't disappoint. The lovely lady and granddaughter were very friendly and everything was cooked fresh. The fish and chips were delicious. Thank you.

For the longest time I’ve craved fish and chips but every where we go local to Redcar despite rave reviews they have been horrible. Today a friend drove to Liverton brought fish and chips back that were still good and hot 25 minutes later. We could actually enjoy them they were delicious. Thank you !!!!

I went today for first time only had a fish, I can honestly say best fish ever had the batter melted in ya mouth. I live below whitby so bit of a drive but best fish ever, taking grand kids they love fish, ya tride the rest now try the best A1😋👍

Such a great fish and chip shop. We had 3 cod and 1 haddock with chips and peas. We rated this fish shop at the top of our list! Delicious chunky white fish with great chips! The price was excellent too real value for money. Thank you for our wonderful tea!!!

Friendly staff. We had to wait a while for haddock and black pudding but well worth it. Everything was beautiful and we’re going to visit again later this week. I’ve heard the curry sauce is rather good!!

We drove here from Staithes after hearing great things and we were not disappointed! Friendly, welcoming, and helpful staff made our order which was lovingly wrapped and handed over with pride. We ordered two Fish n Chips; amazingly crisp and tasty, even after the journey back! Beautiful light and crisp batter and a good amount of s&v! Mushy peas on the side that were just right, battered sausage, buttered ‘Bread Bun’, as it’s called here 👀 a couple of sauces and a few cans of pop.. It really hit the spot, just what we needed! 20 years of ownership, and you can definitely taste the experience and passion that goes into this delicious offering! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well it’s a yes from me haven’t had fish in a long while so thought why not been a fisherman I appreciate the taste of a fresh bit of cod il hands down say if your heading to whitby for fish n chips your better of driving up the road a few mile and grabbing it from here 100% better quality

Fish and peas were ok. The chips were tasteless, white and undercooked, which seems to be the trend in a lot of places these days. Not many chip shops seem able to serve up tasty chips anymore.

Read a lot of reviews before going to this place but I found the fish far to dry the batter minimal the spam fitter was very greasy the same with the burger

We've lived here over a year now and come here a couple of times a month. It's always busy - never a bad sign - and the portion sizes are very generous. We now only get one portion of chips to share between two and the standard fish size is big enough for most appetites. The homemade Tartar sauce is well worth the 50p per pot!

I’d skipped breakfast to fuel the hunger! I arrived at 12:00 in my motorhome! Bread was buttered, kettle just boiled and my stomach was emptier than Boris Johnson’s honesty box! The smell coming from the chippy was amazing, I felt I’d jumped into a DeLorean motor car with Michael J Fox and gone back to 1974! The fish n chips (with mushy peas of course) were nothing short of sensational! Melt in the mouth batter. @ £7.40 a great nose bag: good sized portions: 10/10 for me this experience. Sorry about the half eaten pic; I just had to grab three fish n chip butties!

First return visit since the pandemic hit nearly 2 years ago and exactly as remembered. First class well cooked cod and chips, very large portions and delicious.

I was going to say the best fish and chips in North Yorkshire but they are probably one of the best in the UK.

You must try the fish and chips from Liverton Mines! Better than any you will find in Whitby, I promise you!

This small unassuming fish and chips take-away served the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. I'm from the Redcar to Whitby coastal area: if you want fish and chips, and are in the area - you should go to this fish and chip shop. It looks like a small chippy in a long neglected town - which it is. You wouldn't notice it when driving through; you likely wouldn't even drive through. However, you should drive through if you want fish and chips. Hot, fresh, spikey batter, spotless chips, not oily, and perfectly cooked. Plastic free package, friendly staff and inexplicably low price. Don't waste time on anything from Saltburn or Whitby - it even beats two very decent fish and chip takeaways on Redcar seafront.

Stopped here just before they closed on a Friday lunchtime. Cooked us cod and chips fresh. Some of the best batter I've tasted, not oily, and perfectly cooked. Definitely a must if passing and they are open.

With friendly service and awesome food what's not to like. Run & staffed by lovely genuine North Yorkshire lasses who are spot on in all they do I can't recommend highly enough. A tiny village in the far north of the White Rose County with a real Yorkshire chippy and welcome, Liverton Mines Fisheries is well worth going out of the way for when you are in the East Cleveland part of Yorkshire. 10/10 every time. Oh and they take card payment too :)

Excellent fish with light batter! There was a large selection on offer of varying sizes so catered for all. One improvement would be to sell tarter sauce but it was delicious non the less!

This has to be the best fish and chips in Cleveland/NorthYorskshire. Even better than Whitby 😉. Just a small family business but big in excellent service, quality and taste.

You would struggle to beat these. Tried them whilst we were in the area and they were superb! Fishcakes were homemade too.

We've been coming here for a long time and have noticed how the portions have decreased in size whilst the prices have gone up. This was always our 'go-to' chip shop but recently have gone elsewhere as we were feeling ripped off at having to buy an extra portion of chips just to top-up the meal portions. This is such a shame as we have always found the food to be tasty.

On a family visit to Liverton Mines we were treated to the local fish and chips from the shop down the road at Liverton Mines. They knocked spots off southern ones as I think the chips may still be cooked in dripping and the batter...
