Had the fish pie and it was excellent! Cat fish a bit too spicy.

I've been coming to the Poole Arms often over the past 15 years. It is the best place on the Quay for genuine seafood meals. Michele, the landlady, is very nice and down to earth. They run a nice pub, serve good food, and they help pay towards local events on the quay for the community, without Michelle's and other pubs along the quays help, local events would have been lost, for example the bike night on Tuesdays.

Such wonderful food . The fish casserole was full of flavour and so much variety of fissh. My partner rated his fish pie 10 out of 10 . I could have eaten my way through the menu can't wait to go back again Lovely attentive friendly staff A real gem

We had been wanting to visit Poole Arms for quite some time and, yesterday, we finally made the journey. It was well worth the wait and the travel. The place itself is located on Poole Quay. A charming, and quirky little place and with such a welcoming atmosphere. The seafood was our reason for going and Poole Arms did not disappoint!! It was exquisite!! I had the Gambas Pil Pil to start and the Poole Arms Seafood Casserole for my main. Both were cooked to perfection and were absolutely delicious. The menu offers seafood lovers a great selection of well-cooked, and delicious starters and mains, and there is also a great selection of ploughman's and sandwiches. All in all, I would highly recommend a visit to Poole Arms. Book well in advance as it is a very popular venue with good reason!! We went back today for lunch. Delicious food and excellent service. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Came in here with a friend last night( Monday 17th) as couple pubs close on Mondays Glad we did its got a real cosy feel as if we were in the New Forest Michelle and the other girl long dark hair in a plait was brilliant Poured my drink for me and very friendly

Good fresh food with real ale and/or wine at a reasonable price

Holy! This place was such a gem to stumble across in Poole. The prices were incredibly reasonable compared to all the other surrounding places AND for fresh seafood. I’m from Australia and I know good seafood and by god THIS is good seafood. We ordered the oysters which were HUGH, the scallops and the sardines for starters which were all fantastic and tasted fresh. Then, we ordered the smoked haddock pot, the skate wing and the sea bass and gosh all were 10/10. I think the skate wing and the smoked haddock pot were the highlights. The chef definitely knows how to cook fish. Also, the servers were amazing - big shout out to Emma and Debbie - they all had great banter and were very professional. If I wasn’t leaving tomorrow, I would be back again and again.

A great place for seafood and fish and real ales

Always have the most delicious seafood chowder here. Really love it.

Excellent choice. Chose the fish casserole. Absolutely delicious. Sat outside as we had a furry friend. Although a chilly January evening this didn’t spoil the food or enjoyment.

Nice friendly pub. Staff where lovely. We had fisherman's pie, on a freezing cold day it certainly warmed us up.

A good meal. I travel to Poole regularly and I enjoyed all three components.

For the standards we were prepared for on this trip, we didn't mind the dinner at all. We had a fish pie each, which is a pie filled with cheese, potatoes and fish, with a sort of crust on top and a little balsamic vinegar glaze, which suited us well. Accompanied by the cake, a good English beer; to complete it, we divided a plate of mussels into three, soaked in a broth, diluted with cream, which wasn't bad at all. Our supplier offered, but I thought I glimpsed a 76 pounder. In short, not the usual fish & chips. Peculiar the men's bathroom outside in the alley.

Had the fish pie and Cajun catfish. Both were delicious, good service and a nice venue with lots of character. A must if visiting Poole. I suggest booking as it's small and very popular.

Popped in on the off chance for a table and one had just freed up. Result!! Greeted by friendly staff. I had the Fish Casserole and the other half had the whole Plaice. Superb and very big portions. We also had a desert to takeaway, Salted Caramel Cheesecake which was a special with money going to the 1st Scout group Hamworthy. Well done to the young lady for doing that, great organization. As a note the pud was fab delicious. Will we visit again? No doubt. If you like fish go here.

Fantastic food here! Came away for work and stumbled across this gem - hard to miss with the gorgeous green facade! I had the monkfish and my gosh! One of the best fish dishes I have ever had - with lovely spice to whatever level you like (I had mine hot and it was the perfect balance!) Cosy interiors and friendly accommodating staff as we didn’t have a booking and they catered for the 5 of us great! Only missed having chips here - then it would be ideal! Shoutout to great oysters and prawns too! Lovely seafood

Food is excellent, with large portions. Just a big shame that under 18s are not allowed, even to eat. Seems strange in these days.

Excellent traditional cosy pub with great real ales and an attractive food menu; fully Reserved early this particular Saturday evening. Several months later, still serving lovely fish dishes.

We went to The Poole Arms for lunch. The Scallops with bacon lardons and black pudding are outstanding. Lovely atmosphere, delicious seafood and fantastic service. What more could you want ?

Spent a pleasant afternoon here, listening to performers on the street during the town's festival day. Lunch was plentiful, tasty and the beer great.

Excellent food in an historic pub.

The food at Poole arms was so delicious. The portions are huge and you can tell that everything is freshly made. The menu is also really well priced, we had starters, mains and alcoholic drinks for two at around £80. As the pub is so small I would definitely recommend booking. We booked on the day and only had the choice of first or last table as they’re quite popular! It’s very quaint inside but is very old school pub style and not very modern. All of the staff were really friendly so if you are looking for a lovely old pub experience I would thoroughly recommend.

We came here for a birthday lunch was immediately drawn to the place and lucky to find it being a seafood pub/restaurant.. The welcome was amazing and the atmosphere brilliant, you could see how much people were enjoying being there. It was 12.45 and already nearly full, we had our dog with us but weather was great to eat outside luckily because I can honestly say that was the best meal out I could ever remember eating. Not one fault and the prices are so amazing we was able to try plenty. To top it off the staff were amazing the even gave our doggie his fave treat a raw carrot to munch while we indulged ourselves with delicious food. We will return very soon!!

Delicious home cooked food served in an authentic pub. Highly recommend as the menu is extensive. We had fish pie and smoked haddock. Incredibly good.

I really enjoyed my fish dish but my wife was not so happy with hers. Saying that everything else was very good.

Disappointed with my meal, had sea bass which was dry. Waited nearly an hour for it after sitting down, think it may of been sitting keeping warm 0n hotplate maybe?

Great selection of seafood. Brand new tables to sit at when enjoying the wonderful seafood. Revolving choice of guest beers always near perfection. 14/12/23. Excellent staff, so friendly and welcoming. Just had a wonderful Stilton ploughman's (lunchtimes only I believe) 16/08/2024.

Dishes was tasty. Fresh oysters. We had fish pie and haddock pot. It was delicious. Prices reasonable. Better to book in advance if you want to sit inside. But there is outdoor sits as well.

Wonderful staff, wonderful food. Busy today but it is summer so not surprised. Wouldn't recommend for children, but great for an adult meal.

My partner found good reviews on Google to find somewhere to eat whilst we were visiting Dorset and he suggested The Poole Arms. It did not disappoint. Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble, great atmosphere, but the food.... oh wow! it was amazing! The BEST fish pie I have EVER had! (And I make a good one!) Really fishy, smooth mash, lovely sauce, and lovely cheesy topping. Quality fresh fish, good portions and really great value for money. If I'm returning to Poole I would rebook in a heartbeat. Thanks for a great meal!

Craving for proper seafood for a while, this is 1 of the best I have so far in UK, the swordfish is extraordinarily, seafood stew and oyster are very fresh . Definitely will visit again!

Really enjoyed lunch here yesterday for my birthday, I had the king prawns in garlic which came with a crusty roll (that was a meal in itself) hubby & I also shared a portion of the salt & pepper squid that was delicious. For mains hubby chose the gurnard which he was abit disappointed with as it came in strips rather than a whole fish also veg looked as if they were turning inc new potatoes which he had to cut the eyes off. I had the seafood casserole which was tasty, think next time we'd have a selection of starters.

Fabulous food, warm and cosy proper pub, attentive and knowledgeable staff. The portions are generous, and excellent value. Best to book, but you stand a chance of a table, as a walk in, if you are prepared to eat early. Food served from 5pm.

The oldest pub in Poole. Facing the port, with an ample choice of fish, all caught and fresh, with a board with the catch of the day other than the menu. The atmosphere inside is warm and cozy, with beautiful wooden boards and a fireplace. Really charming. The service is also fast and includes a complimentary veggie dish. Highly recommended.

Lovely food and surprisingly quick service considering that it was quite full. Not cheap, but well worth the money. I particularly liked the bar sign: "Not serving chips since 1635".

We popped in without a reservation over Easter weekend. After a short wait at the bar, a table became available. I had the cod cheeks to start, followed by the seafood stew. Both amazingly delicious. My partner had herring roe and cajun catfish. Also delicious. Everyone was lovely and there was a great atmosphere too. We'll certainly be back, but will make a booking next time so we're guaranteed a seat.

Beautiful old Inn, Food is delicious, friendly staff and quick service.

One of the most distinctively beautiful pub exteriors in England. Several handpulls of independent brewery ales and, most importantly, all kept and served in lovely condition. However, the highlight is unquestionably the seafood menu. We ordered multiple dishes, every one of which was notable for its freshness, flavour and smartness of presentation. The wine list is well-chosen and fairly-priced. We really appreciated the quality in such an unfussy and unpretentious homely pub setting. Top marks also to the charming young waitresses who served us with warmth and professionalism. Looking forward to a return visit!!

Great pub, tried to get a seat but none available. However, a very kind staff member managed to get us a little table in the corner. So glad she did as the food was amazing, fresh fish was perfect. Great service all round. Will be on my number one list when we visit again. Also, thanks to a lovely old chap Eric (A local) who let us use his little corner table.

Definitely well worth the visit! We were mooching around today (Sunday) after a paddle and needed some food. It was one of the only places still serving food at 4pm. 🕓 if you look at the pictures the food was lush, and served in a very timely manner. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We had scallops, mussels to start and the haddock pot, catfish. Sooo scrumpy! Highly recommend. Shall return. Thank you!

One of the best fish places in the area! Definitely worth every penny, I licked my fingers the whole time. Try the mussels and squid!! (Only downer were desserts, but they are a fish place after all)

Get the mussels, the scallops, the boquerones, the squid. don’t order bread because all dishes come with bread. You can just have starters and it will fill you up. The pricing is very reasonable as well, around 30£ with a pint. Desserts are good but might as well get more starters.
