Great selection of seafood. Brand new tables to sit at when enjoying the wonderful seafood. Revolving choice of guest beers always near perfection. 14/12/23. Excellent staff, so friendly and welcoming. Just had a wonderful Stilton ploughman's (lunchtimes only I believe) 16/08/2024.

Dishes was tasty. Fresh oysters. We had fish pie and haddock pot. It was delicious. Prices reasonable. Better to book in advance if you want to sit inside. But there is outdoor sits as well.

Wonderful staff, wonderful food. Busy today but it is summer so not surprised. Wouldn't recommend for children, but great for an adult meal.

Great pub, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. Fantastic fish menu! We was passing & was lucky to get a table on a busy lunchtime. Some of the best fish I’ve had in such a long time.

My partner found good reviews on Google to find somewhere to eat whilst we were visiting Dorset and he suggested The Poole Arms. It did not disappoint. Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble, great atmosphere, but the food.... oh wow! it was amazing! The BEST fish pie I have EVER had! (And I make a good one!) Really fishy, smooth mash, lovely sauce, and lovely cheesy topping. Quality fresh fish, good portions and really great value for money. If I'm returning to Poole I would rebook in a heartbeat. Thanks for a great meal!

Craving for proper seafood for a while, this is 1 of the best I have so far in UK, the swordfish is extraordinarily, seafood stew and oyster are very fresh . Definitely will visit again!

Really enjoyed lunch here yesterday for my birthday, I had the king prawns in garlic which came with a crusty roll (that was a meal in itself) hubby & I also shared a portion of the salt & pepper squid that was delicious. For mains hubby chose the gurnard which he was abit disappointed with as it came in strips rather than a whole fish also veg looked as if they were turning inc new potatoes which he had to cut the eyes off. I had the seafood casserole which was tasty, think next time we'd have a selection of starters.

Booked a table here to have a meal before going to the Lighthouse and must must say we were not disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere were brilliant and the meal was the best we've eaten for a long time. We will be back

Fabulous food, warm and cosy proper pub, attentive and knowledgeable staff. The portions are generous, and excellent value. Best to book, but you stand a chance of a table, as a walk in, if you are prepared to eat early. Food served from 5pm.

The oldest pub in Poole. Facing the port, with an ample choice of fish, all caught and fresh, with a board with the catch of the day other than the menu. The atmosphere inside is warm and cozy, with beautiful wooden boards and a fireplace. Really charming. The service is also fast and includes a complimentary veggie dish. Highly recommended.

Lovely food and surprisingly quick service considering that it was quite full. Not cheap, but well worth the money. I particularly liked the bar sign: "Not serving chips since 1635".

What a wonderful find by the waterfront. Historic building with the most amazing fish pie and chicken dish. Buzzing atmosphere and great, efficient service. Book to avoid missing out.

We popped in without a reservation over Easter weekend. After a short wait at the bar, a table became available. I had the cod cheeks to start, followed by the seafood stew. Both amazingly delicious. My partner had herring roe and cajun catfish. Also delicious. Everyone was lovely and there was a great atmosphere too. We'll certainly be back, but will make a booking next time so we're guaranteed a seat.

One of the most distinctively beautiful pub exteriors in England. Several handpulls of independent brewery ales and, most importantly, all kept and served in lovely condition. However, the highlight is unquestionably the seafood menu. We ordered multiple dishes, every one of which was notable for its freshness, flavour and smartness of presentation. The wine list is well-chosen and fairly-priced. We really appreciated the quality in such an unfussy and unpretentious homely pub setting. Top marks also to the charming young waitresses who served us with warmth and professionalism. Looking forward to a return visit!!

Great pub, tried to get a seat but none available. However, a very kind staff member managed to get us a little table in the corner. So glad she did as the food was amazing, fresh fish was perfect. Great service all round. Will be on my number one list when we visit again. Also, thanks to a lovely old chap Eric (A local) who let us use his little corner table.

Fabulous food, only seafood & 1 chicken and 1 vegan dish. We had lovely starter of scallops, Creole cat fish & seafood casserole, all were really tasty & well prepared. Fully recommend

Definitely well worth the visit! We were mooching around today (Sunday) after a paddle and needed some food. It was one of the only places still serving food at 4pm. 🕓 if you look at the pictures the food was lush, and served in a very timely manner. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We had scallops, mussels to start and the haddock pot, catfish. Sooo scrumpy! Highly recommend. Shall return. Thank you!

Amazing staff and incredible food. the mussels are a must.

Get the mussels, the scallops, the boquerones, the squid. don’t order bread because all dishes come with bread. You can just have starters and it will fill you up. The pricing is very reasonable as well, around 30£ with a pint. Desserts are good but might as well get more starters.

One of the best fish places in the area! Definitely worth every penny, I licked my fingers the whole time. Try the mussels and squid!! (Only downer were desserts, but they are a fish place after all)

The food was fresh and delicious. Fish pie amazing and sea bass excellent. We portions were so generous. Cheese board tasty and crumble yummy. Will definitely be back again soon to try something different, can't wait. Thank you.

Excellent traditional cosy pub with great real ales and an attractive food menu; fully Reserved early this particular Saturday evening.

Turned up yesterday, hadn't booked, however, Rachel managed to find us a table. So glad she did. We had an amazing meal with, perfect, friendly service. Wonderful fresh oysters and the best fish dishes we've both had in a very long time. We would highly recommend The Poole Arms if your looking for seafood.

Today was our second visit to this very cosy, traditional looking pub. Both occasions we had the most amazing fish meals. Today we had oysters, chowder, scallops and red gurnard - all cooked to perfection. Staff are very friendly and helpful when choosing food. Can't wait to return again!

Didn't eat here on this visit... just called in for a drink. Quality beer and wine. Friendly staff and quite accommodating. All tables were reserved but they easily flu d one that wasn't going to be needed for an hour or so.

Let's be clear: if you want a good value seafood pub that's got a quaint atmosphere and attentive service, this hits the nail on the head. It is slightly pokey, and having to go round to the corner for the men's bathroom isn't ideal - especially in winter! - but for a charming local pub, this is a beaut.

A great pub. The oldest on the Quay and the smallest. They serve sea food and do it well. My friend had chowder and I had anchovies in garlic with crusty bread. The service is great and I can't fault it at all. I have been before and will be back again. And they stock bitter lemon which seems a hard thing to find these days. So that's a plus in my book. There are seats outside but in January they don't seem necessary.

Chowder full of mussels, prawns and fish. Terrific. Great service - prompt attention even when busy.

Called in on the off chance and managed to secure a table (last one). Even in the early evening this was a venue very much in demand. My wife ordered the fish pie which was delicious and filling. I ordered the seafood casserole which was full of fish and shellfish but the juice was watery and bland, which was really disappointing. The prices were good and the service exceptional. Well worth a visit but make sure you make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

My husband and I are local and walk past the Poole Arms at least twice a week for nearly 10 years but have never been in, shockingly, until now! We hadn’t booked but were lucky enough to get the last table inside which wasn’t reserved. We were served by Rachel and ordered 6 Poole Bay Rock Oysters - really tasty, decent sized oysters served with tobasco and lemon wedges, would have been nice to have something like horseradish or diced onions to go with it, followed by a Cheddar, Ham & Stilton Ploughman’s each - really tasty good quality produce with very large chunks of cheese and lots of ham, this could have done with a bit more bread to use with all the cheese but other than that was great. The food took a while to arrive but we overheard that the kitchen was short staffed. We will be back soon for dinner, but will book ahead of time to avoid missing a table!

Very pleasant experience ☺️ The service was attentive friendliness from the moment we entered we ordered the oysters... first class, the crab salad was very nice, the sea food casserole was excelenf with the full flavors of the fish. Lovely bottle of proseco. Will come again with friends. Definitely I recommend this place.

Only here for one night, but would thoroughly recommend this pub/restaurant. Food produced by Michelle tonight was delicious. The photo shows my half eaten fish casserole - so tasty, fresh and the waiting staff were friendly and attentive. All in all 100% tasty, wholesome and well priced👍👍👍

We went here last night for my sons 21st birthday and it's honestly the best seafood meal I have had in a long time. The servers were lovely and attentive, food was served quickly, cooked perfectly and so delicious 😋. I would advise booking as we did as every table to was reserved and that was a Monday evening showing how good it is.
