I came here for the first and the last time. We arrived late afternoon and the restaurant was half empty but the service was still slow, I expect they had a very busy lunch rush but doesn't explain really why they had to be so slow now with fewer people in the restaurant. I had never been here before so was very new to the menu and didn't quite know what I was ordering since some of the items on the menu I had not heard of before. I decided to try something unknown however when the food came my plate had, what can only be described as, glorified chicken satay. It was very disappointing and did not satisfy my hunger, to be honest it left me feeling very hangry.

MUY mujer astuta de Notting Hill acepta cenar conmigo a corto plazo. Tratamos de cenar en Polpo antes, pero fue reservado para un evento privado, ¡así que fuimos a otro lugar! Esta vez llamo para reservar pero no hay respuesta. No obstante, me dirijo a NH y encuentro a Polpo bullicioso. Inicialmente, me dijeron que tendré que esperar 1/2 hora para la mesa, aunque hay un par de mesas vacías que están reservadas, pero puedo esperar. Poco después llega MUY astuta, vestida con menos rojo que a menudo. ! , y pronto está claro que ella es bien conocida por el personal y la mesa no es ningún problema. El ambiente es excelente, con cenas felices que disfrutan su sábado por la noche, los asientos son muy cómodos y el volumen de conversación es genial, aunque MUY astuta me dice que hablo demasiado alto y me pregunta si estoy parcialmente sordo. . Ella también encuentra otras faltas en mí. ¡Nunca he afirmado ser perfecto! Luego llegamos a la comida. Los dos vamos por la lubina con frijol y vignola de alcachofa (que @ 11 es una ganga) y la ensalada de calabacín con algunos arancini deliciosos para empezar. Bueno, con la compañía de la MUY astuta, se esperaba que fuera una buena noche. Estaba en buena forma y la comida estuvo a la altura de las expectativas, pero más allá de eso estaba el servicio y el entusiasmo del equipo que nos cuidaba. Eran tan acogedores y hacían la noche muy especial. Gracias a Tonchi, Kristo y Sheila por la noche más agradable. Entiendo que este venu de Polpo se está cerrando, pero espero que el excelente personal se transfiera a otra parte y la MUY astuta de NH se reunirá conmigo para cenar con ellos nuevamente.

Food is OK. The prices look good, until you realise the dishes are tiny and you'll need 2-3 to be full. It was two hours after our arrival before we were even brought the wine, despite being half empty. When the food eventually came some dishes were missing. No apology or explanation. Waiting staff seemed like they'd rather die that have to speak to you.

We inside with my GF for dinner, we got a nice table by the window. They brought us menu, but for 20 minutes no-one approached our table, we had to wave several times to order the aperitif. After that again, 15/20 and no-one came to take food order of ask if we needed help. We called again a waiter who said "yes I'm coming" and he went behind the bar to talk and laugh with his college. At that time we decide to leave withoit even eat. It really seem that managers and waiter don't care about customers. Very poor experience, I definitely won't go back with such a huge ammkunt of restaurant in London.

We arrived to be shown a table for 2 at the back of the restaurant because an available table by the window had not been cleaned. The server took our order from memory, brought the wrong wine and then having taken it away (we discovered afterwards) charged us for it. And at the end of the meal a 12.5% service charge was added to add insult to injury

My friends and I did not even get the opportunity to enjoy our evening at Polpo due to poor response and terrible communication by the management team. 20 mums from my son’s nursery were all looking forward to an evening of food, drinks and conversation at Polpo. We called Polpo a month in advance, and spoke to someone who said they would be happy to host our gathering and would send a confirmation e-mail, menu and deposit form. We never received that e-mail. We called again two weeks later, and a third time a week after that... still, we could not get anyone from the Polpo team to send a confirmatory e-mail to us.We had to move the venue for our mums’ evening out because we had no confidence in the booking, which I think is a terrible reflection on and a real shame for Polpo. In this economy, one would think they would be pleased to host a group of 20 local mums who might do some free marketing for them via word-of-mouth recommendations. Instead, they have disappointed all of us, and they have lost a piece of significant business. None of which is good for their reputation.

Like a couple of other reviews here, the food is not as good as it was a couple of years ago. For starters we ordered tuna and ricotta crostini and anchovy and chickpea crostini. We expected the tuna to be freshly cooked but it was actually tuna mayo which you can get in any sandwich for lunch. Instead of the anchovy and chickpea crostini they served us mackerel which wasn't even on the menu! When we pointed this out they changed it. The main courses were better - scallops, tiger prawns and meatballs. Of the five desserts on the menu, two were not available. Really? On a Saturday night? C'mon Polpo, time to buck your approach up.

Had lunch here with a small family group. The food was nice, but nothing to sing about. We orderedthe pizza, which the kids enjoyed and had the prawns, cavolo nero, chickpea spinach balls, roast potatoes, courgette fries, arancini, olives, crochettes, butternut squash bruschetta to list a few and the highlight would have to be the chickpea ball things. Not good value for money and the service was awkward and unattentive.Would not go back as it did’t hit the spot for me.

Great atmosphere, really lovely and intimate, staff were nice, not very much for lactose free but they had a full allergens menu which was really helpful. No one told us it was tapas so we must have looked ridiculous only ordering one plate each but is pretty pricey for tapas but I guess that is what you get in central London. Great wine menu though

Este es un alimento que para un italiano solo recuerda parcialmente al hogar. El linguini de cangrejo tiene muy poco cangrejo y sabor y se sirve en un plato frío. Arancini son pequeños y 4 libras esterlinas. 50 cada uno? De Verdad? Pulpo carpaccio era bueno pero de nuevo pequeño por 11 libras esterlinas. 50. Una pizzetta a 6 libras esterlinas. 90: ídem. Gasté 25 libras esterlinas por persona sin alcohol y volvimos a tener hambre muy pronto!

I used to come here 2 years ago, the first time I was living in London and I used to love this place, specially for their meatballs. I don't know what happened in the meantime, been here twice in the last 2 months and both times I've been disappointed. The sauce it's nothing comparable to the one they had before, the meatballs are bigger but not as tasty as before, but again, I believe the sauce is the biggest problem at the moment. Also the service lost a bit of its past magic. I'll be back in the future hoping they'll change the tomato sauce's recipe.

Estuvimos mi mujer y yo esta noche cenando allí. El restaurante con buen ambiente, quizás muy poca luz para mi gusto. La atención bastante buena, había tres camareras muy atentas. La comida, bastante regular. Comimos 2 raciones de “croquetas” (arancini) que estaban bastante bien. Después yo comí una carne con champiñones, y espinacas... bastante pobre... la carne estaba más cocida que a la plancha...; mi mujer pidió “albóndigas “ (meat balls) que estaban muy buenas. Compartimos una ensalada de zucchinni con parmesano y lechuga que estaba bastante bien, pero el zucc estaba laminado muy fino, y estaba totalmente pegado ( debía estar cortada en la nevera y no lo despegaron). Bebimos 2 gin con soda y pepino y 2 copas de vino blanco espumoso . 1 café y una manzanilla. Total 85 libras.

Negative reviews here are surprising. Having just spent three months in Tuscany and had lunch at Polpo, I'd really like to taste what one of the reviewer's cat's can cook. Our meal was very, very good. I suppose what you order makes a difference, but the chickpea, spinach and ricotta balls and octopus carpaccio were particularly delicious and our meal overall was "authentic" and satisfying.

We had an excellent lunch including pork skewers and an order of spaghetti and meat balls. Both were great. The focaccia bread was "to die for." The staff was friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable. You can't go wrong here. Also the restaurant is very close to the Notting Hill Gate underground station.

In the past - and we have been regular visitors, the experience has been pretty good. Not today. Lunch was wrecked by staff desperately wanting to give us our main dishes way before we had finished our starters. My suggestion - since their meatballs taste as if they have simply been reheated and thus arrive pretty quickly - wait until you have eaten your starter, then order your main. We are going to give the Notting Hill Polpo a miss for a while!

We went for my birthday dinner. They are apparently an Italian tapas bar. We had no idea. Partly. as it is not made clear, (and is Italian!) and also because they are quite expensive dishes, so an assumption is drawn that it's a main dish. We were served my Frito miso with no other food for 25 mins. I hadn't touched it as I wanted the salad at the very least to eat it with. Or my partners food. They took it back and served it again with his (dry) chicken. The Frito miso had two measly prawns. Just about to eat the second one and noticed the intestinal tract hadn't been removed. I realised I had eaten the first one. Deciding to not bother with dessert, we asked for the bill, removed the service charge and put the cash for the rest on the table and left. I don't think they even noticed we had left.

We had a late lunch and drinks, unfortunately pretty disappointing. First off, we asked for prosecco. The waiter was going to pour it into tumblers! We asked for flutes, but the best they could manage was shallow coupes. The bottle was left standing on the table with no ice bucket. Not what you expect when you're paying thirty pounds a bottle.

We went here as a change from Pizza Express for a birthday meal. Food was good, although small portions. Place was noisy, but that's to be expected in a busy restaurant. What was annoying was that the kitchen couldn't work out how to bring us all our main dishes at the same time and so there was a gap of over ten minutes. Our waitress was really lovely and sympathetic but basically said there was nothing the kitchen could do about it. Not sure if we'd go back.

El restaurante se especializa en platos pequeños de Venecia (creo que italiana) y Tapas una selección, elegimos todos estaban deliciosos. En particular, recomiendo las vieiras que venía con un encantador cremosa salsa de guisantes purés, el pulpo y el hinojo carpaccio y el cangrejo y chili linguini. También es muy amigable para los niños, la familia en la mesa de al lado estaban disfrutando de la pizza de Nutella.

Wow, estoy sorprendido en estos tipos de comentarios. Fuimos allí dos veces durante una estancia reciente (estábamos al otro lado de la calle). Una noche tuvimos el 5 libra spritz y un aperitivo aperitivo. Fue un generoso campari spritz, toneladas de aceitunas, aceitunas de calidad y un plato de patatas fritas con sabor de la trufa para 5 libras y eso es una verdadera ganga. Otra noche cenamos, la división de tres platos para dos personas. Nos pareció que las ofertas especiales en la junta nocturna era un poco mejor que el menú normal, pero la comida era más que aceptable y el servicio fue muy atento.

Had a delicious meal for two here, it’s a kind of Italian tapas. The rigatoni with beef shin is a must, and also the pork meatballs! Only issue is that some dishes tasted a little bland and needed seasoning, and the wine glasses are a little small for my massive hands! All in all we had a great meal and would definitely return

Dalle chiarissime influenze italiane, locale accogliente a Notting Hill. Ci ho preso solo un aperitivo ma le olive simil-ascolane erano ottime e tutto l’insieme, malgrado tante recensioni negative, mi fa dire che, se mi capitasse l’occasione, per cena ci andrei.

Went with a friend to catch up have a glass of wine and some food. The arancini came tepid and very bland. Costing about £6 for two of these was such a waste of money. When the wine came, the waitress started to pour them in cups, and I had to ask for a proper wine glass. Another waiter then served us and continuously asked us what we'd eat next, which I felt was too pushy. He finally persuaded us to try a pizza which came extremely dull looking, just some dough and barely cooked zucchini with some chilli. This was tiny and cost £7. Overall we were very disappointed and will not return to any of these chains. Do not recommend, you can spend that type of money elsewhere and eat decent food.

Siamo state a cena tra amiche, abbiamo ordinato degli “arancini” improponibili. I piatti erano piccoli che manco sottofondi dei bicchieri e vino che poteva essere sostituito tranquillamente con l’aceto. In tutto ciò, almeno il servizio è stato cordiale.

As a regular in the area, Polpo has been one of those hidden gems that you tend to walk past. Venturing into polpo regularly in afternoons after work the staff are always friendly and professional in their approach. The management keep a close watch on the smaller details making sure as a customer you are looked after. The house wines are reasonable prices with the cocktails inline with any other bar in the area. The stuffed olives and the crocchettes are personal favorites. The beef shin ragu and the Milan style chicken are both very good as well. What polpo does it does well!! A gem in the local area! Thanks to management and staff for their dedicated approach to hospitality!

Esta fue la peor experiencia que he tenido. restaurante Comimos en muchos lugares de Europa, pero nada puede superar poorness de este lugar. Desde el principio estaba equivocado. Reservamos la Cena de Navidad, pero cuando vinimos mesa no estaba preparada. Elegimos donde queremos sentarnos pero todo lo que hicieron fue que ponen caramelos de papel sobre la mesa. No hay ropa, ni las velas, ni servilletas. Mesa de madera con mucho era de escritos en que de la gente probablemente borrachos. Se sentía como estar en un pub en puerto con barato marineros ruidoso. Vino y Prosecco sirve de vasos de agua mientras los vasos de vino eran adecuados en el mostrador! ! La comida no era italiano. Combinaciones de sabor y completamente equivocados. Básicamente comida era insípido y seco. Ni siquiera terminar muchos de los campos. Cuando nos dijo que no quieres llevar, como camarera estaba buscando como son extranjeros. Cubiertos estaba sucia y tuvimos que pedir nuevos. Camarera quería poner agua cristal sucio y dejó sólo cuando le dijimos que su sucia. El personal era joven y no entrenados a trabajar en el restaurante. Simplemente deambulando, con vistas a, riéndose y chitchatting sus clientes. Por 100 libras para 2 personas que esperan algo más que no esté preparado y la mesa sucia, insípida comida, sucio, inexperto personal. cubiertos Además de todo ese depósito pagado por adelantado no fue devuelto y tuvimos que preguntar. Este lugar tiene que ser evitado por todos los medios. No entiendo cómo alguien podría gustar!

What a disappointment small portions (thankfully)of poorly cooked food . The crab and chilli pasta had no crab or chilli and no taste! The pork was tough and tasteless. For a restaurant claiming to be Venetian, the pasta was soggy and overcooked what an insult to Venice!I took some overseas visitors and what an embarrassment Nottinghill has an abundance of Italian eateries that do authentic good Italian food . Polpo should be avoided and struck off the list!

Came here for my mums birthday recently, having never been we needed a bit of a hand all the waiters waitresses and even the manager were absolutely brilliant. The food great perhaps a little small in portion size but overall the taste was brill. Our favourites were the sea bass with anchovy and potatoes the potato and Parmesan croquet. Along with the meatballs lamb and garlic and our number 1 must try was the pork and fennel. My advice would be to try a number of starters then maybe 5 mains depending on your group size. The desserts are also very nice. All round a great visit and we really enjoyed it.

Prosecco served in water glass.Pasta was tasteless. I understand the tapas size but why does it cost more than an avarage portion?! After spending 40 pound each, we were starving. Some things that we ordered never arrived. Waiters were ignoring us completely. I will never suggest this place to anyone, it is an offence towards real italian food!

The food was delicious, and I would most certainly have gone back to try the rest of the menu (it was one of the more interesting menus I have seen!)...... but the service was pretty poor. One of our dishes didn't arrive and the waiter was very quick to try and appoint blame to us, that we mustn't have ordered it (there were only two of us, so unlikely). It took about 40 mins between our first and last dish coming out, which seemed kind of long for a half-empty restaurant. The waiter was then visibly angry (we can see you, even when not standing next to our table...), because we didn't pay the service charge.The service really needs to improve to make this a decent local restaurant.

As we entered the restaurant we were welcomed by big smiles and friendly faces. The decoration is unpretentious yet innovative and I really enjoyed the warm, relaxing atmosphere.The menu gives a wide variety of Italian dishes. We had potato & parmesan crocchette and beef shin arancini, which were crunchy outside and moist and tender inside and Prosecco wine. Everything was exquisite. For the main course I had crab and chilli linguine and and my friend had fritto misto accompanied by zucchini, parmesan & basil salad. We both enjoyed it. The dessert consisted in panna cotta, spiced pumpkin & candied pecans, which tasted like heaven.The service was great too.Despite the fact that the restaurant was quite crowded (since we were there on a Saturday evening) the food arrived quickly and everyone was kind and charming. Besides a minor mistake which was handled gracefully by the manager, everything was perfect.

The first time we went there the circumstances were not ideal - one of the cooks cut himself and they had not enough personnel. We were there for 2hours. They should have told us before ordering the food and ask if we were ok to have delays. Yesterday we went again with friends. One of the dishes was a looong hair in it. In another one, the prawns had 5 only with the head, without the body. Weird. When we claimed, the service didn't give us any explanation / alternative / offer. On top of that, we sat close to the kitchen. All the smoke was coming to our table with the bad fortune that they burned twice the toasts!!All and all, relationship price vs atmosphere vs service and food not justified! There are many places in the area much better than Polpo.

First expression to enter restaurant and you can smell bleach around not very good beginning. Asked waiter about wine so they not even know what's the measure they serve and funny enough you are in nothinghill hill and drink wine from the water glass.Not really impressive.Nothing really say about food coz still waiting already 10 min for my entrée.Not recommended.

Tengo que ir al Chelsea & Westminster con bastante frecuencia y hace 10 días me sorprendió descubrir que nuestro favorito para una bebida después del hospital había cambiado repentinamente de ser una de las cadenas de Carluccio a ser una de la cadena de Cote. El personal era bastante inepto y no tan útil, así que supongo que no volveremos allí otra vez. ¡Una pena! !

Una encantadora comida italiana con la familia el viernes 25. Este pequeño lugar no se ve mucho desde el exterior y no está en la mejor ubicación, pero la comida y el servicio fueron fantásticos. Comenzó incluido Gamberoni, albóndigas, paquetes de queso filo. Los platos principales eran espaguetis con mejillones, pollo, tagliatelle de champiñones, calzone.Acompañado de un encantador chianti, un servicio amable y eficiente y un ambiente acogedor. Lo siento, olvidé fotografiar la comida!
