Best Chinese food I've ever eaten bar the prawn toast. Could tell it was deep fried in the same oil as the chip shop cod. Was an odd flavour combination

I've given Plymouth Grove Chinese restaurant 5 stars, today's visit was just for a quick lunch date with my husband following a prior meeting, and it being lovely, and the staff extremely helpful & friendly, all housed in a beautiful building in Manchester, it's not exactly The Ivy😄. Tbh the Ivy do have the most unaesthetic uniform for their staff, and a diners dress code and I can't condone that! Therefore does The Ivy deserve all of the positive credit it receives?🤔 Not if I can't just nip in for lunch regardless of my attire after prior engagements, as I would have done last month following the Leonidas😋 purchases around the corner, there was nothing wrong with my attire, I wouldn't have been at the late monarch's favourite chocolate purveyor's establishment in anything less than she'd approve of. So there👅 Plymouth Grove Chinese restaurant deserves 5 stars🤩 much more than The Ivy ever did!👅 Thank you very much Plymouth Grove Chinese restaurant, lunch was fabulous😋🥢🥂😁🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

A Londoner finds his way to Manchester (MCFC stadium tour) and stumbles upon this gem. The chicken wings were audibly crispy, the portions generous and the service impeccable. Surprisingly, visited on a Friday evening with my two young sons and hardly anybody eating in. The special fried rice had tiger prawns (or similar size) and each dish was sublime. Prawn toast, with a clearly visible layer of prawn that was on par/thicker than the bread! Quite simply, the BEST Chinese I’ve EVER had.

Me and my family (4 adults and 2 children)have been to this place a few times. We are always greeted with a warm welcome and friendly smiles. We are given time to have a good look at the menu and decide on which yummy food to order. Once ordered, the food comes out very quickly and is always hot and tasty. This time, I had the char sui vermicelli noodles and I can not fault it. The portion sizes are big and you can ask to take some home if you can't manage it all. This is a restaurant and a takeaway chippy.

The meals are very rich and varied, and the taste is acceptable and salty. It is worth recommending.

Not Skibidi egg fried rice was obviously rotten and microwaved a true sigma would never eat here. Ling a ling Ching ding was a bad waiter and told me I was a “not sigma singalong autist” all ina ll very nice taps

Visited on Sunday with family. Please ignore other reviews on portion size... This place is amazing!!! Food was lovely, portions could feed 2 people. Will definitely be going again and again... Ps, they also do take out....

Fantastic spot close to the Oxford Rd Corridor and MRI. Friendly welcome and extensive, competitively priced menu with extensive choice. We had wonton and hot and spicy soup, pork with rice, char siu pork buns and three-fried vegetables.....large portions but extremely fresh and tasty. Rolled out an hour later with big smiles..... Will be back regularly and good to see they also deliver,

Went in for the special set lunch. £13.50 get me a delicious bowl of chicken and sweet corn soup, satay char sui and veggies with rice and a pot of tea.

Salt & pepper chicken was beautiful as was the chicken fried rice. My favourite has to be the Sweet Chilli chicken which is Amazing. The Staff are also very friendly. Would definitely recommend to friends/family.

Second time they have overcharged and reduced portion size. Not acceptable at all. The lady serving is so rude and abrasive.

This was our second takeaway order from here. All the food was piping hot, smelt & tasted delicious too. We had special fried rice, beef & and mushrooms, salt & pepper chips, chicken in black bean sauce, and a portion of pork ribs. Everything was outstanding. We definitely recommend this takeaway....

Food and service were good, but it really is more like takeaway food as opposed to restaurant food. The seating area is pretty basic. If you're not too fussed and want a good tasting takeaway while eating in, this is the place. Solid 4 stars.

Twice I got takeaway from here and find the quality isn't up to restaurant standards and portion sizes are small compare with the eye watering prices. Barbecue ribs with honey are like just few skinny bones dripped in honey sauce. I thought the 1st time maybe just the skinny left over ribs but it was the same for the 2nd time ordering. Not going order again, waste of my money!

You know what 1st time and this place is banging. I always start with chow mein just to be on the safe side.... . And boy was it fresh. Real chicken. Real veg. And Real noodles. Thank me later. Hit the like button if you took my word for it.....

Had two dishes, Fu Jian fried rice and Singapore vermicelli. The fried rice was beautifully presented and was very tasty (it might be the effect of MSG). But it was not authentic as compared to those I had usually got in HK. The vermicelli, again both the taste and presentation (it did not have nice curry colour) were not authentic as compared to HK ones. Taste wise was alright but not to my liking. In term of value for money, it should be one of the great choices to taste Chinese dishes.

Food was excellent. Staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Good atmosphere although it was quite, due to being midweek. There was a steady flow of dinners. Large chose of food on the menu. Reasonable priced. Nice clean venue with disabled access. Car parking at rear of buildings. They also do take out meals.

Would be 5 stars for food and service. But the decor is rather basic and somewhat lacking atmosphere. That said the food is very good and plentiful. We were there at 9pm and the last people in and still made to feel very welcome. It's been done up somewhat. Don't expect luxury expect a quality Chinese experience at reasonable prices. Under £100 meal for 4.

I love the wonton noodle soup from them because the egg noodle is the same as the authentic ones I had in China. However, I had a bad experience during my second time ordering for wonton noodle soup. They gave me with rice noodles instead of thin egg noodles like the first time so it wasn’t authentic at all. If they run out of egg noodles, they should have notified in the first place (or marked that dish unavailable) because the texture and everything becomes different. Such a careless act 👎🏻

Food was fresh and superb quality, big portions, helpful waiter. Only thing preventing 5 stars is the toilet which is really poor. Please re-do the toilet and we would come back.

Food was amazing and delicious. Can't fault any of it. Each dish came out aligned to the expectation I had. We did go around quiet time however so unsure what it's like when busy. Free parking and friendly staff. Only issue I had was the toilet location. It feels ridiculously far with alot of steps and reminds me of the stereotypical joke of wetherspoons ones XD

Basic environment, large menu - if you want to share between a good few people, then to their credit, the place is setup for it. Portion sizes deceptively small as the actual amount of main you get isn't loads, staff could have been more attentive, food is okay but not special (I'd recommend the teriyaki beef) and prices reasonable but by no means cheap. Enjoyable evening with good company - but I wouldn't hurry back on account of the food

The shop is small but clean, and the dishes are rich and of a certain standard. It is worth recommending.

The food was great. It took a while to get to us, about 30-40 minutes, but the wait was worth it. Authentic, genuine taste and couldn’t fault it at all. Prices are a bit steep.

They get your order wrong on delivery and then refuse to pick up the phone to correct it. When they eventually answer there is a very rude lady who refuses to help you and asks you to REORDER your missing items

Can’t get the order right. Rude attitude. Manager wouldn’t come to phone second time. Food all cold. It’ll be 10 minutes, that’s 40 minutes ago

AVOID AVOID AVOID They miss items off your order and then refuse to pick up the phone to correct it, when they eventually pick up there is a very rude lady to refuses to help you and asks you to reorder your missing items

Arrived in Manchester today from the North East. Staying in budget hotel on Upper Brook Street. (Closest to the 02 Apollo where we were going the following evening.) The restaurant of our choice on the Curry Mile ( Oxford Street was closed ) another everything was written in Chinese as we approached and check it out , plus signs stating masks must be worn . ( This was November 2022) So we headed for this place I saw earlier on Google. Much more quiet neck of the woods, very quiet. Only a few Chinese people eating. The surroundings are basic but clean,( a lovely old building) the table settings are basic but the welcome is respectful and polite. Only bottle alcohol is available, we ordered Chinese beers. (Western beers /lagers available ) We ordered our drinks and food and the portions were enormous. One meal would feed two people. The quality was also excellent. Good home cooking. Wish we had a fridge. So could I recommend it yes , certainly , even if it lacked atmosphere but it was a Tuesday early evening.

Blown away by the food here. Ho fun, Tong Choi, salt & pepper pork intestines stuffed with prawn are pictured. Would strongly recommend the pork intestines!

There were two tables of guests eating, and we had to wait 30 minutes for the food to be served. Even the takeaway (foam) box was charged 50p. I will not go there again👎👎👎

Wow! What a great restaurant. 4 of us all ordered different food but shared, each dish was incredible. It was fresh and delicious with generous portions, totally faultless. The service was warm and friendly with helpful info about the dishes. We took our 5 year old and she had a fuss made over her. She loved the food too. Will be back, highly recommended

Love this hidden little Chinese restaurant. Food is on point. It’s my go to at least once a week. Salt & pepper pork chops with rice and wonton noodle soup. Damn…. So good!

A beautiful specious place, I loved a service, a madam was so lovely and took care of any of my requests, she brought especially for me an extra drink to warm me up as I felt cold. Food was served very quickly within 3-5mins from ordering and was really delicious. I had noodles &chicken. I can recommend the restaurant for anyone looking for a good meal in reasonable price as well.

Worst Chinese I’ve ordered from I’ve ordered from her a few times and every single time they never come correct. I ordered food for my family and asked for S&P chicken pieces and made clear I want pieces not wings after I done my order I got her to repeat it and she said pieces they sent wings,looked uncooked and was greasy as anything , the food come after 1hr 40 min wait the food was barely warm when it come I had to heat it in the microwave then I called back and was told it will be a half hour wait for them to send the chicken pieces although annoyed I waited and after 30 min they blanked my calls and never turned up TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!! Never again they need to CLOSING DOWN

Many visits fresh food most of the time. Went early once got yesterday's chips horrible. Every other time great. Which reminds me I owe them a pound .

This place serves one of the best Chinese foods in Manchester, in my opinion. I compared their Singapore Rice with another outlet in Salford and there was a vast difference. You can preorder here or order when you walk in (your choice). It's located at Plymouth Grove, it's close to a bus stop and easy to find on the map.

Great quality authentic food, fast and friendly service. We have enjoyed food from here as a celebration dinner for eat in and also had many delicious take aways.
